Recommendations?

Okay, Protectorites, now that I have a new job, I'm looking to do something I have always wanted to do and never been able to afford before.

I'd like to get some fanart done of a few of my characters, and I'd like to know which artists you guys have gotten work from. I've seen a lot of beautiful stuff posted in this forum that you guys have commissioned, and I'd love to know who it's by!

If you've got a recommendation for an artist, please let me know!

You may want to give an outline about what you're looking for in your fan art. I found it very helpful in narrowing down the choices I was presented.

The Abrams is one of the most effective war machines on the planet. - R. Lee Ermy.

Q: How do you wreck an Abrams?

A: You crash into another one.

Artists I've used thus far have been...

Play Work Art: http://playworkart.deviantart.com/

and

Sean Loco O'Donell (careful, some risque work in there...): http://sean-loco-odonnell.deviantart.com/

The one PWA did for me was an image of my Katana/Reflexes Scrapper, Mad Matt McGinty, http://ryat66.deviantart.com/art/Mat...axed-148723664

PWA is one of the more professional artists I've seen, so what you ask for is what you get.

And Sean did a few images featuring some of my other characters in various situations (these are NOT so risque...): Den of Vipers (Raging James and Psycho13 battling Nazi women), Now Arriving (Cedric Grey and Mark Shadow in an airport), and Bridge Jumping, U.S.A. (Cedric Grey staring down a heroine as she tries to dissuade him from jumping off a bridge tower, which he does anyway and has done many, MANY times).

Sean's the sort of artist who is willing to chat with you and make sure, as he's in the process of making the art, he's got what you're looking for. When he first drew Raging James, he had him with these itty-bitty skulls dangling from his chest and shoulder. After a little discussion, they were shaped up to their proper design and size.

I could also recommend a fellow Protectorite, you know her, Empress Aurora... Also known as Essex!. Most of the Jello Shooters and Protector Vigilance crowd don't know her as she's a roleplayer and a member of the Boarderline Insanity crew. She's a little hampered with work, too, and she usually needs some kind of association with a character to get a feel for a proper look.

Look at that. A full-grown woman pulling off pigtails. Her crazy is off the charts.

Well, one of the pieces (and I'm thinking about Juggertha for this one) is going to be Tamsyn Blackthorn (my claws/wp scrapper-slash-brute) facing off in the Arena with Tarantula Hawk (Vulpy's katana/wp scrapper).

The other one, the one I am not sure who I want to draw it, is going to be Snap Play and Blackrazur (and possibly Alaric Stormwarden if I can figure a way to work him into it. >.>) The first one is very action-y and the second one is...well, not. Hee. The second piece is going to be pretty dark-ish and a still pose, so I'm looking for someone who can take the inherent oddness of the relationship between the characters and work with it.

There is actually a deviantart group of our very own CoH'ers. I highly recommend browsing the art there to find someone who strikes you for the styles you are looking for.

I'm probably going to get something done by EmeraldCrusader in the not too distant future.

And Clutch has a very unique style as well.

Definitely head over to the Screenshots & Fan Creations boards, many an artist post there displaying their skillz.
