I tend to play a bit like a "Blapper" sometimes using my secondary for some Melee but generally I stand back and let loose from the outside. My question is -
My main toon is an Energy Blaster which as we all know allows the use of the knockback effect with certain powers.
Would it be a wise strategy to wade into the middle of a group of enemies, use secondary for Melee, be a little tankerish to generate some aggro to get the, all gathered around and then use Nova to send them all flying away with awesome knockback?
Is the blaster up for something like this or is it not a good idea to generate that much heat? -
"Invoke" Power
I have posted several threads about a possible shape shifting AT/EAT or a shape shifting Primary. What about an "Invoke" type of power, wether it be a primary or even an AT where you don't necessarily shape shift but instead you invoke the powers and abilities of whatever you would shift into. For example
Primary: Invoke Demon
(you gain the abilties of a demon, use the powers from the Summon Demon set)
Toggle Invoke, Temporary, Special.
Level 1- Invoke Demonling- Starts as level 1 Demonling(fiery), when character increases to security level 6 it becomes the level 6 Demonling(cold) and when the character reaches security level 18 it becomes level 18 Demonling(Hellfire).
Level 12- Invoke Demon- starts as level 12 Ember Demon, at level 24 it becomes Hellfire Gargoyle.
Level 26- Invoke Demon Prince- You invoke the powers of a Demon Prince.
As a primary that leaves levels 2, 6, 8, 18 and 32, once again just for example use the Summon Demons Powerset from Mastermind.
Level 2- Lash
Level 6- Enchant Self
Level 8- Crack Whip
Level 18- Hell on Earth (used on self and/or team)
Level 32- Abyssal Empowerment (use on self and/or team)
This gives you a full primary Powerset. The invoked powers that are gained act as temporary powers that only last for some predetermined period of time and for some predetermined amount of times per day. When you toggle this invoke power and it is active a transparent image of whatever level demon is transposed over your toon instead of an actual shape shift.
What do you think. -
Archetype: Scrapper
Primary: Street Justice
Secondary: Super Reflexes
Power Pools: Leaping
Travel Power: Ninja Run
This in theory would make a Parkour/Freerunning urban ninja type of character which would be pretty cool. Would be cool if there was an acrobatic fight style as a primary such as Tricking or Capoeira. -
Guess you guys are right. Maybe when they update the engine whenever they do that. It think it's still an awesome idea and would be cool to have. It would differ from ninja run in that it ninja run simply allows you to run fast and jump fast, basically nothing gets in your way, and you do a flip at the top of your jump arc. With Parkour/Freerunning you would climb and leap from one structure to another, use pipes and over passes to swing from and anything else used in Parkour/Free running, not just move fast over things like Ninja Run.
-
I don't disagree with what you are saying but I think they could work it in somehow.muse Ninja Run as their starting point and build off it from there.
-
How epic would this set be! It would be so cool to have a Parkour/Freerunning travel power and be able to stylistically use the urban environment to get around. They could even some combat related aspects like in the Leaping power pool.
What do you think of a Parkour/Freerunning power pool? -

I am leveling a StJ/EA Scraper and loving it so far. StJ is so brutal!!!!
-
Def see what your saying, but what about SJ paired with FA, would that be better than SS/FA???
-
Now I mean straight up no supernatural powers, just hands/feet/elbows/knees.
We got-
Martial Arts
Street Justice
Super Strength
It seems to me Street Justice is the best because of the combos, but I normally play an Energy/Energy Blaster as my main toon and decided to make a SJ/EA Scrapper and am not as experienced with Melee toons.
Any opinions??? -
I love the feedback and advice, thanks, I will def tweak more after work and repost!

Two new proposed EAT's.
Ethereal and Empyrean beings are entities composed of the essence used to breath life into the universe.
Ethereans represent the psionic energy used to give mortals sentience while Empyreans represent the fire like energy used to give mortals form. The two races of beings oppose the eachother on the argument of the others importance and contribution to the creation of mortals and have been enemies for millennia.
These two EAT's become available to both Heroes and Villains at Level 50 and act as a way to further develop a high level long used character. They also elevate the scope of gameplay from "street level" to "cosmic" or "universal". Much like the Kheldian Peacebringers and Warshades these EATS's require VIP status or purchase on the Paragon Market.
Each race has a single Primary and Secondary power set.
Etherean-
Primary- Ethereal Assault
Secondary- Ethereal Affinity
Empyrean-
Primary- Empyreal Assault
Secondary- Empyreal Affinity
Like the other EAT's both primaries have a shapeshift power at Level 6 and both secondaries have a shapeshift ability at Level 20.
More to come later today on each primary and scondary specific powers, inherents and travel powers. Let me know what you think!!! -
I am going to try using this idea to make an EAT/HEAT/VEAT.
-
Also, the powers gained from a shift could replace the power gained from the chosen primary at the specified levels if there is any.
-
Its still a work in progress. The shifting is spread so far out becausetje AT already gets so many powers from primary and secondary. This could very well become an EAT.
-
For those of you who have already read this, read it again, I have made several changes since originaly posting.
-
Once again, I really tried to listen to all of the advice and make a realistic AT. I think this is the best version so far. It is very different from the previous version, read my first two threads to see the differences. I once again welcome all criticism and ideas etc...

Battleform is the signature ability of a Shifter, however the ability to stay within the current form only lasts for so long. While a Shifter engages in battle using their chosen Battleform the amount of time remaining in the form is shown by an orange bar between Endurance and Experience Points. The bar very slightly increases each time the Shifter successfully deals damage to an enemy and quickly decreases each time the Shifter receives damage or uses up Endurance. If a Shifter uses up too much Endurance or receives too much damage they will revert back to their human form and suffer the effects of being stunned.

Animations
Each shift/transformation will have the animation to show the player shift into their Battleform. Several different choices will be included for the actual Beast, Plant, Elemental style, Cyborg, Shadow, Demon and Celestial forms. These forms change to fit their title as level increases. For example if you choose Demon Form you mature from a young demonling and as the levels increase you get bigger and mature into the eventual Demon Prince or Arch-Demon appearance.
Travel Powers
As you increase in levels you will gain access to travel powers, such as Beast Run for Beast Form, the correct wings for the Demon and the Celestial Form or electrical line travel for Cyborg. -
Once again, amazing ideas that I will try to incorporate into the next revision. I think the hardest part is figuring the powers when shifted and not shifted. Right now I have the shifted form based off the selected primary but I do like the idea of the form being chosen at creation and than a single primary based on the chosen form with powers for both shifted and unshifted included at various levels with a full transformation at 32. Example with a beast form, in the lower levels you only have claws, then add in bite, then beast run, then higher damage claw.and bite and by the time you reach 32 you are a full blown beast. I am picturing more of a beastman than an actual animal.
-
I changed the HP stats to the same as the Scrapper, took away Posion, Empathy and Shield Defense and removed the Kinetic form. This should scale down the AT's overall über ness quite a bit. I don't think it really needs to many secondary sets anyway. As for the Celestial form it could be more Angelic, but how, gimme some Angel power ideas.
-
Quote:Great ideas. Could def lower both HP stats quite a bit, no prob. As for Pioson and Empthy, I just wanted more options for secondary sets, I get what you are saying though. I will def take a look at the Stalker secondary sets and try to make them work.So this AT does everything. And its dog. It has almost as high hp as a tank, and more than a scrapper's max. Knock the health down to EAT levels.
Once again. Poison and Empathy are buffing sets, not defence sets. Shield defence, on something that is gonna keep changing form, probably won't work. Add the auras aswell, I think.
Why not port over the stalker secondary powersets, swap hide for Transform. And then turn the transform ability into a kinda god mode with a damage and defence bonus, maybe a proc for extra damage or debuff?
And think of all the work that goes into a new power set. Times that by all your ideas. Even porting them over. Maybe limit to 4 semi unique power sets. Beast, I can get behind, elemental, sure, demonic, sure, plant, sure, celestial if it was more angelic themed over Kheld copying (it even has Bright Nova!), sure. The others don't really feel like proper powersets. Kin. Not really. What would it even look like?
The bar is a nice idea, except the psionic bit. Maybe instead of psionics don't it, being held, knocked back, interrupted or whatever drained a huge chunk from the bar and stopped them regening it until double the amount of hold time has passed.
My favs are the Beast, Plant, Demon and Eelemental forms also. The Celestial and Kinetic were once again just to give more options for Primary sets and to give opposites. the Shadow form could be interesting also if worked on.
The psionics stuff I figured it would be a mental thing for the shifter to hold their form, some sort of concentration thing that if interrupted would cause them to revert back to human form.
Lol as for this AT doing everything, I see how it could look like that but remember you only get 1 Primary form and that's it. You cant shift into all this stuff just the one form you pick from the start.
I can picture a toon in game suddenly transform into their chosen form, it would look so cool. Everyone is standing around Ms. Liberty and you hit the transform power and shift into a huge Demon or turn into an elemental flame being. This AT has awesome animation possibilities. -
I took all of your advice and did several missions, TF's and what not. My character is now Level 23 and I could be more pleased with ti!!!
-
I took everyones suggestions and tried to add them in. Now I will say I used mostly already created powers for each of the Primary sets just to give an example of how the AT could work. I could have created all of my own powers but the ones already in the game pretty much represent what I would have made up anyway. Remember this is just an idea that I had and tried to add the ideas and criticism from people who posted on the original thread to make it better. I still welcome all thoughts to make it better.
