Parkour/Frerunning Travel Power!!!!!

How epic would this set be! It would be so cool to have a Parkour/Freerunning travel power and be able to stylistically use the urban environment to get around. They could even some combat related aspects like in the Leaping power pool.

What do you think of a Parkour/Freerunning power pool?

How would this work in the game? Right now, with the engine that we have, we can't really jump off of flat walls. I think that the Ninja Run power is the closest thing we'll get to this.

You can pretty much do this with the current run/jump powers in the game, anyways. Just only jump off of stuff along the ground, like dumpsters and low walls.

I don't disagree with what you are saying but I think they could work it in somehow.muse Ninja Run as their starting point and build off it from there.

How would you differentiate it from Ninja Run? In other words, what about parkour makes it functionally different from just using Ninja Run to jump off of objects?

Yeah it'd be a cool travel power but it would likely be an animation nightmare for the Devs, assuming it was even possible in this game at all.

The Devs already had to compromise with powers like Walk and Rocket Board because of animation limitations. This is why those powers specifically prevent most other powers from being used because they either couldn't or wouldn't make all the standard combat and emote animations work with them.

Parkour movement would require all sorts of hand and foot contact with all sorts of surfaces that we currently can't really interact with anyway. Like Aett_Thorn said I think Ninja Run is going to be the closest we get to this.

I'd love it.
I just know that it's also impossible. We have a seven year old engine creaking along at the moment. It can't handle that kind of interactive animation well.

Guess you guys are right. Maybe when they update the engine whenever they do that. It think it's still an awesome idea and would be cool to have. It would differ from ninja run in that it ninja run simply allows you to run fast and jump fast, basically nothing gets in your way, and you do a flip at the top of your jump arc. With Parkour/Freerunning you would climb and leap from one structure to another, use pipes and over passes to swing from and anything else used in Parkour/Free running, not just move fast over things like Ninja Run.

To their credit the Devs of this game have done a pretty good job pushing this game engine to its limits over the years. You have to remember this system is now 9 or 10 years old at least because you have to figure much of it was in place at least a year or two before it officially launched back in April 2004.

Still it has its limits, and one of those limits is how our characters interact with the environment. When you think about it there's really not that much we can actually touch or grab in the game. That would severely limit what you could do with something like Parkour. This is why all of our current travel powers are basically "independent" of the surrounding environment and probably explains (among other things) why we haven't gotten things like "vehicle-oriented" travel powers either.
