Once again, I really tried to listen to all of the advice and make a realistic AT. I think this is the best version so far. It is very different from the previous version, read my first two threads to see the differences. I once again welcome all criticism and ideas etc...

CITY OF HEROES ARCHETYPE IDEA- SHIFTER

Primary: Shapeshifting/Assault
Secondary: Defense
Inherent: Battleform
Base HP: 1338.6
Max HP: 2409.5
Primary Sets: 13
Secondary Sets: 7

Overview

Shifter's deal in the art of physical transformation . As a Shifter your signature ability is to shift into a Battleform, a predetermined physical form used to assault your enemies. At different levels you gain the ability to shift into a predetermined from. Your Battleform grants you temporary powers, abilities and traits in direct relation to the chosen form, the access to those abilities unlock with each new shift level.

Shifters can select from the following Battleform’s at character creation-

- Beast Form
- Plant Form
- Elemental Form (fire, earth, wind, ice)**
- Shadow Form
- Cyborg Form
- Demonic Form*
- Celestial Form*

*Demonic and Celestial forms require VIP status or purchase on the Paragon Market

** Elemental Form, player will choose one element at character creation and can only use that element.

The Shifter’s Power Sets Are:

Survivability: 7
Melee Damage: 5
Ranged Damage: 5
Crowd Control: 2
Support: 3
Pets: 2

A Shifter’s primary power sets are designed for combat. They are:

A Shifter’s secondary power sets are designed for defense. They are:

Invulnerability
Ninjitsu
Pain Domination

Body Mastery
Beast Mastery
Form Mastery
Celestial Mastery
Demonic Mastery

Patron Power Pools

Leviathan Mastery

Inherent Power

Battleform is the signature ability of a Shifter, however the ability to stay within the current form only lasts for so long. While a Shifter engages in battle using their chosen Battleform the amount of time remaining in the form is shown by an orange bar between Endurance and Experience Points. The bar very slightly increases each time the Shifter successfully deals damage to an enemy and quickly decreases each time the Shifter receives damage or uses up Endurance. If a Shifter uses up too much Endurance or receives too much damage they will revert back to their human form and suffer the effects of being stunned.

Battleforms

Level 7- Juvenile Transformation - This is your first shift into your selected form. This shift grants you a basic melee/ranged attack that relates to your chosen form. Recharge- Very fast.

Beast- Claw Strike- Melee, Minor DMG(Lethal), Foe Taunt.

Plant- Strangler- Ranged, Moderate DoT(Smash), Foe Hold.

Elemental- Fire/Earth/Wind/Ice Blast- Ranged, Moderate DMG(fire/earth/wind/ice)

Shadow- Dark Blast- Ranged, Moderate DMG(Negative), Foe-To-Hit.

Cyborg- Charged Brawl- Melee, Moderate DMG(Smash/Energy), Foe-End, -Recovery

Demonic- Hellfire- Ranged, Moderate DMG(Fire/Toxic), -Resistance

Celestial- Gleaming Bolt- Ranged, Minor DMG(Energy), Foe-Defense

Level 19- Adolescent Transformation - This is your second shift into your selected form. This shift grants you a “Self” oriented power that relates to your chosen form. Recharge- Moderate.

Beast- Fortify- PBAoE, Self +Defense, +Regeneration.

Plant- Deep Roots- PBAoE, Self +Regeneration.

Elemental- Healing (Flames, Soil, Wind, Icicles)- Self Heal, +Resistance (Opposing Element- Fire+Ice, Earth+Wind).

Shadow- Shadow Fall- Toggle: PBAoE, Stealth, +DEF(All).

Cyborg- Conductive Aura- Toggle: PBAoE, Foe-End, Self +Rec, +Regen.

Demonic- Hellfire Aura- PBAoE, Moderate DMG over Time(Fire/Toxic).

Celestial- Essence Boost- Self: heal, +Max Health, +Resistance(Toxic).

Level 37- Young Adult Transformation - This is your third shift into your selected form. This shift grants you an AoE based power depending on and relating to you selected form. Recharge- Long.

Beast- Eviscerate- Melee (Cone), Superior DMG(Lethal), Foe-Def(All), Taunt.

Plant- Creepers- Ranged (TAoE), Foe -SPD, -Fly, -Jump.

Elemental- Consume by (Fire, Earth, Wind, Ice)- TAoE, Superior DMG(Fire,Earth,Wind,Ice), Self +End.

Shadow- Night Fall- Ranged (Cone), Superior DMG(Negative), Foe-To Hit.

Cyborg- Discharge- Ranged (Cone), Superior DMG(Energy), Foe- End, -Recovery.

Demonic- Abyssal Burst- Ranged (TAoE), Self: +Heal, -Foe(Toxic DMG).

Celestial- Scatter- Ranged (Cone), Superior DMG(Energy), Foe: -Def.

Level 50- Adult Transformation - This is fourth and final shift into your selected form. This shift grants you a devastating power or ability relating to your selected form. Recharge- Very Long.

Beast- One Thousand Claws- Melee (Cone), Extreme DMG(Lethal).

Plant- Razorvine Trap- Melee (PBAoE), Extreme DMG over Time(Lethal), Foe: -End.

Elemental- Atomic (Fire,Earth,Wind,Ice), Melee (PBAoE), Extreme DMG(Fire,Earth,Wind,Ice/Lethal)), Foe: -End, -Reg.

Shadow- Shadow Grasp- Melee (Cone), Extreme DMG(Negative), Foe Immobilize, -To Hit.

Cyborg- Power Strike- Melee (TAoE), Extreme DMG(Smash/Energy), Foe Disorient, -Recovery, Knockback.

Demonic- Demonstar- PBAoE, Extreme DMG(Negative), Foe -To Hit, Self -Recovery.

Celestial- Ethereal Strike- PBAoE, Extreme DMG(Energy), Foe- Defense, Knockback, Self -Recovery.

Animations

Each shift/transformation will have the animation to show the player shift into their Battleform. Several different choices will be included for the actual Beast, Plant, Elemental style, Cyborg, Shadow, Demon and Celestial forms. These forms change to fit their title as level increases. For example if you choose Demon Form you mature from a young demonling and as the levels increase you get bigger and mature into the eventual Demon Prince or Arch-Demon appearance.

Travel Powers

As you increase in levels you will gain access to travel powers, such as Beast Run for Beast Form, the correct wings for the Demon and the Celestial Form or electrical line travel for Cyborg.

you have some great ideas!

but this AT seems to have a lot of powers available [which would be awesome but i dont think the devs want us to stray so far from a basic two powerset AT.] the set selection follows the other meelee ATs with the addition of archery, and then has an inherent that grants a large number of additional powers which breaks the precedent [not saying that a new AT cant ] of just a single inherent with maybe also a bar. Yes, MMs and Khelds break this precedent as well, but their inherents are travels [which you did include] or pet commands. The suggested AT has non-puchased transforms with power grants in addition to the travels. Tho i am curious as to your suggested levels for the Inherent Transform power unlocks. 50 seems like a long time to wait for a AT tied power. or one that isnt... Incarnate XD.

while the EATs have a larger power pool for both their primaries and secondaries, yours is not an EAT [also tied to Lore], so it would probably look more like the other ATs in format.

but i do adore the idea and would really really like something like this to happen, a shifting set or AT or EAT. and i would really really like those ancillary pools for existing ATs.

Its still a work in progress. The shifting is spread so far out becausetje AT already gets so many powers from primary and secondary. This could very well become an EAT.

Also, the powers gained from a shift could replace the power gained from the chosen primary at the specified levels if there is any.

It's nice that you have such enthusiasm for the game, Ridia, but to be frank, it is highly unlikely a new Archetype (that isn't an epic one) will be added to the game at this point. It's a nice mental exercise though, to be sure.

You may want to do a little forum searching to check out past examples of AT suggestions, shapeshifting has been a popular one, as well as melee/buff, and others.

a good suggestion has been a Devouring Earth lore tied shape shifting EAT for Praetoria perhaps.
