New Archetype Idea Part II!!!!
So this AT does everything. And its dog. It has almost as high hp as a tank, and more than a scrapper's max. Knock the health down to EAT levels.
Once again. Poison and Empathy are buffing sets, not defence sets. Shield defence, on something that is gonna keep changing form, probably won't work. Add the auras aswell, I think.
Why not port over the stalker secondary powersets, swap hide for Transform. And then turn the transform ability into a kinda god mode with a damage and defence bonus, maybe a proc for extra damage or debuff?
And think of all the work that goes into a new power set. Times that by all your ideas. Even porting them over. Maybe limit to 4 semi unique power sets. Beast, I can get behind, elemental, sure, demonic, sure, plant, sure, celestial if it was more angelic themed over Kheld copying (it even has Bright Nova!), sure. The others don't really feel like proper powersets. Kin. Not really. What would it even look like?
The bar is a nice idea, except the psionic bit. Maybe instead of psionics don't it, being held, knocked back, interrupted or whatever drained a huge chunk from the bar and stopped them regening it until double the amount of hold time has passed.

My favs are the Beast, Plant, Demon and Eelemental forms also. The Celestial and Kinetic were once again just to give more options for Primary sets and to give opposites. the Shadow form could be interesting also if worked on.
The psionics stuff I figured it would be a mental thing for the shifter to hold their form, some sort of concentration thing that if interrupted would cause them to revert back to human form.
Lol as for this AT doing everything, I see how it could look like that but remember you only get 1 Primary form and that's it. You cant shift into all this stuff just the one form you pick from the start.
I can picture a toon in game suddenly transform into their chosen form, it would look so cool. Everyone is standing around Ms. Liberty and you hit the transform power and shift into a huge Demon or turn into an elemental flame being. This AT has awesome animation possibilities.
I changed the HP stats to the same as the Scrapper, took away Posion, Empathy and Shield Defense and removed the Kinetic form. This should scale down the AT's overall über ness quite a bit. I don't think it really needs to many secondary sets anyway. As for the Celestial form it could be more Angelic, but how, gimme some Angel power ideas.
i would adore an AT or a set with a transform ability built like "hide" in that can be customized [if one set] or has powersets that correspond to each type of transformation [plant, elemental, demonic, celestial, robotic, shadow, etc.].
if it were one powerset, i would suggest like mentioned already, one built in transformation power filling out a self defense set, given to the meelee AT's. if it were a new AT, or an *EAT* with built in variation, i like your suggestion of a larger set of abilities, but you make it sound super complicated XD.
i see the primary powerset would be it's transformation set with related assault/manipulation attacks, with primary power choice being what "type" of transform you undergo, and your "transform power" working in conjunction with a bar similar to domination. [you can only transform after X amount of ...whatever... for X amount of time] the primary powerset would contain one or more "transforms" and within that transform[s] would be powers to be used only when shifted [like khelds], some auto [like khelds] and some to be purchased further on once a type of "transform" [plant, elemental, cyborg, etc.] has been selected. the other powers [two or three] in this set would be basic combat attacks to be used when not-shifted. these non-shifted powers would be put into the set similar to how a MM's set is devided.
example:
1 - brawl/kick[example of unshifted attack light]
1 - Transform* [grants attacks: 1 ranged single target, 1 ranged cone, 1 immob, and 1 meelee attack][toggle transform]
2 - air superiority/jump kick[example of unshifted attack medium]
6 - Empower Transformation [can only be used while transformed. adds ranged AoE or pbAoE, hold, meelee attack to transformed state][toggle, no endurance cost, but individual powers have end costs.]
8 - spinning strike/dragon's tail [example of unshifted attack medium aoe]
12 - build up [short bonuses]
18 - Altered State - [[adds a path aura fx.][toggle] can be used while both shifted and unshifted. grants minor dmg pbaoe]
26 - Spawn Formling [spawns one temporary pet depending on your transformation, imp, tornado, water spout, animate stone, shade, seedling, robot, etc.]
32 - Ultimate Shift [Transformed model fx upgrade, [extra branches, rocks, fiery wings, icicles, shadowy floaties, targeting drones, etc.] induces/enhances transformation, adds high dmg ranged, high dmg meelee, meelee cone, and one nuke power [ranged or meelee]][toggle with time limit similar to phase shift, can only be used while transformed]
*The Transform power forces the player to pick a type of transformation from which other set powers related to the transform will be decided. Example "Botanical Transform" - You become a Razorvine, have plant control and thorny attacks.
Types of Transform [selected from list when Transform is Purchased]:
- Beast Form [borrow from Beast mastery and claws. might have to transform into a bear to make work.]
- Plant Form [borrow from plant control/thorns. become a DE type tree-thing]
- Elemental Form (fire, earth, wind, ice)** [fire - easy, earth - easy, ice - easy, wind - can borrow from Storm summoning, Scirocco's signature powers, and maybe a couple other wind like powers in game.]
- Shadow Form [easy, lots of dark powers]
- Cyborg Form [would use super strength and various guns/rifles]
- Demonic Form* [altered fx of WS powers]
- Celestial Form* [altered fx of PB powers]
- Kinetic Form* kinetic meelee and kinetics [repel would have knockback become knockdown and add minor dmg component perhaps. different effects with animations from kinetics for new powers maybe]
the secondary would function more like an defense set, like you mention lol, but i would tweak them to work better when you are actually transformed. i would also go ahead and give the elemental aura defense sets, in case somebody picked the elemental transform and wanted a set to work thematically. they would function more like stalker secondaries than other meelee scondaries, replacing Hide with something either more complementary to the Transformed state or the Un-Transformed state. also, i would remove any toggle pbAoEs so as not to conflict with the toggle pbaoe in the primary set. though if it was an EAT, it would have one set that is sort of the base of all these sets, looking mostly like WP or Regen, and maybe a shield or two who's fx depend on the type of transform purchased. XD

would make a great EAT. "SHIFTER". sounds amazeballs. of course... this would probably be a mess separating the powers to be used while not transformed, while transformed, while transformed and upgraded, and then the defensive sets XD

Psi damage being super effective would make the shifter more trouble than it is worth. Adding the status effect thing, I think, would be somewhat more balanced. At max level, psi damage is a lot more common (see all the Seers, MoM trial, seers in UG, TPN, lots of psi damage mobs), while holding, while possible, is a lot less common.
And the range of power sets would make it a do everything. For example, take a defender. They have a buff primary and a blast secondary. Your idea, as I see it, would give this AT access to Dom primaries, defender and tanker/brute secondries, Kheld powers etc.
Like I said, make the primaries like scrapper powers, and then make the transform a kind of god mode. For example, plants would gain a proc for a mag 2 immobilize or hold on an attack, an elemental could have a fire/cold/energy/whatever damage proc, beast form maybe a proc for ticks of lethal damage etc. Would work better IMO.
Once again, amazing ideas that I will try to incorporate into the next revision. I think the hardest part is figuring the powers when shifted and not shifted. Right now I have the shifted form based off the selected primary but I do like the idea of the form being chosen at creation and than a single primary based on the chosen form with powers for both shifted and unshifted included at various levels with a full transformation at 32. Example with a beast form, in the lower levels you only have claws, then add in bite, then beast run, then higher damage claw.and bite and by the time you reach 32 you are a full blown beast. I am picturing more of a beastman than an actual animal.
I took everyones suggestions and tried to add them in. Now I will say I used mostly already created powers for each of the Primary sets just to give an example of how the AT could work. I could have created all of my own powers but the ones already in the game pretty much represent what I would have made up anyway. Remember this is just an idea that I had and tried to add the ideas and criticism from people who posted on the original thread to make it better. I still welcome all thoughts to make it better.

Overview
Shifter's deal in the art of physical transformation . As a Shifter your signature ability is to shift into a Battleform, a predetermined physical form used to assault your enemies. Your offensive and defensive powers depend on the predetermined Battleform you choose from your primary power set. Your Battleform grants you temporary powers, abilities and traits in direct relation to the chosen form. Shifters are extremely weak against psionics and can be reverted to their human form easily through psionic manipulation.

Inherent Power
Battleform is the signature ability of a Shifter, however the ability to stay within the current form only lasts for so long. While a Shifter engages in battle using their chosen Battleform the amount of time remaining in the form is shown by an orange bar between Endurance and Experience Points. The bar very slightly increases each time the Shifter successfully deals damage to an enemy and quickly decreases each time the Shifter receives damage or uses up Endurance. If a Shifter uses up too much Endurance or receives too much damage they will revert back to their human form and suffer the effects of being stunned. Psionic effects can easily revert a player back to human form regardless of the orange bar level.

Beast Form
Level 1- Swipe (Claws Primary)- Melee, Minor DMG(Lethal), Foe Taunt
Level 1- Strike (Claws Primary)- Melee, Moderate DMG(Lethal), Foe Taunt
Level 2- Beast Hide- This power allows you to gain a temporary buff to your defense from Lethal damage- Self Heal, +Max Health, +Res(Lethal)
Level 6- Roar of the Lion- This power allows you to let out a monstrous roar that instills fear into your enemies which causes them to tremble in terror and reduces their chance to hit- Ranged (PBAoE), Foe Taunt, -Range, -To Hit
Level 8- Slash (Claws Primary)- Melee, Moderate DMG(Lethal), Foe DEF(All), Taunt
Level 12- Bite- This power allows you to clamp down on your opponent with your teeth and furiously shake them causing disorientation- Melee, Superior DMG(Lethal), Foe Disorient, -To Hit.
Level 18- Eviscerate (Claws Primary)- Melee, Superior DMG(Lethal), +Special
Level 26- Frenzy Strikes- This power allows you to make several swipes and slashes with both claws that deal moderate to major legal damage- Melee, Superior DMG(Lethal), Knockback.
Level 32- Unleash- This power allows you to release a full fledged attack on all enemies within Melee range. You swipe, slice, slash and bite dealing moderate to superior lethal damage as well as draining damage over time. This attack has a very long recharge time and leaves you at reduced endurance levels- PBAoE, Superior DMG(Lethal), Foe-DEF(All)
Levels 1, 8 and 18 can all be used in human form at double recharge.
Levels 2, 6, 12, 26 and 32 can only be used in Battleform.
Plant Form
Use Controller’s “Plant Control” power.
Levels 1, 6, and 8 can all be used in human form at double recharge.
Levels 2, 12, 18, 26 and 32 can only be used in Battleform.
Elemental Form

Animations
Each Primary will have the animation to show the player shift into their Battleform. Several different choices will be included for the actual Beast, Plant, Elemental style, Cyborg, Shadow, Demon and Celestial forms. These forms will also be able to change as level increases. For example if you choose Demon Form for your primary in the lower levels you shift into a smaller, juvenile demon and as the levels increase you get bigger to the eventual Demon Prince or Arch-Demon appearance.
Travel Powers
As you increase in levels you will gain access to travel powers, such as Beast Run for Beast Form primary and the correct wings for the Demon and the Celestial Form primary.
