  1. Well done everyone, there were some nicely done costumes for this.
  2. I don't envy what you're doing but it's appreciated!

I understand that there are people inclined more towards Brutes and Scrappers (not being offensive but your post history shows little interest in tanks) who don't care for Tankers getting attention because they are already capable of withstanding the most damage without buffs.

But here's a reality everyone here is keenly aware of, and certainly the developers as well:
Death is the best mitigation period.

Against everything but an AV[s] the Brutes much higher damage allows it to defeat targets faster then an equivalent Tanker thus limiting damage sustained.

I have many 50 tanks and brutes and some scrappers, and my most played brute is a stone/stone while my least played tank is also a stone/stone, and the reason for that is simple, with one speed boost the s/s brute becomes a one character Armageddon, while the tanker with the same s-b continues being indestructible but is taking twice as long as the brute defeating enemies.

So make whatever point you want for your AT choices but let's be real here, the Brute came from the Tank and was made possibly more fun to play then Tankers, and all of that was done before the concept of making a Hero side Brute was intended.
  4. I'm pulling this quote to reply from the Consolidated Tanker thread so as not to muddy that up.

Yes, this solution would instantly and completely affirm Tankers as the toughest AT.... But the price is severe.

Every Scrapper and Brute built to the softcap suddenly starts taking twice as much damage as they did before.
I'm not calling for nerfs to the other melee archetypes but bear this in mind, and this is an actual quote last year from the last powers dev:

    Quote:
What is the reasoning behind droping the brute resistance cap?

I've wanted to do it for YEARS and I finally got approval to do it, albeit with a slight caveat.

Reasoning, in a nutshell, is that they should not be as capable of withstanding damage as a Tanker. -Castle
That "caveat" was the Brute AT mod going up from 75% to 80%, so the power developers preference was actually to lower Brutes resistance even more then he was green lighted to, why?

    Quote:
they should not be as capable of withstanding damage as a Tanker. -Castle
Virtually no one was calling for this reduction to Brutes resistance before it happened mind you, but that doesn't mean it's not again a serious option on their own chalkboard, because keep in mind the Brute was an idea who's genesis came from the Tanker, not the other way around so if the two AT's are seen as being that close the Brute should be the exotic alternate choice to the Tanker not the equivalent with bonus damage.

In other words, though few if anyone is asking for it, don't be shocked if the Brute is again reduced while the devs are looking at the Tanker, why?

I would highlight the argumentative and redundant posts and ask a Mod to delete them, not to squelch debate, but constructive debate is not "you will see my point if I have to burn this thread down!".

That Ultimus thread is still up if anyone feels the need to net-cagefight.
  6. I read that last week and it struck as coming from someone who's gotten things changed in the game before.

The father of the mace and weapon buff push obviously knows what he's talking about, it occurs to me that if you like a specific archetype you want people like Aett Thorn, Tundora, [who got ice buffed way back when] Ace and others to advocate when a community feels like changes might be needed.

As far as my own input I want to give it some more thought because I'm pretty happy with my tanks as they play right now but I also don't want to miss an open door to make them all even better in some way.

Thanks again for everyone putting effort into this.

It does look like a lot are going with /Ela because it combines damage aura and endurance management with resists that combine with Defensive Sweep and Energize, I'm about to use a reserved name on one any minute.
  8. I was on Glacial Meltdowns team last night, thanks again to everyone who makes this fun ship fly.
  9. This threads angers me, LOUD, LOUD NOISES!!
  10. I finally got some free time this week and I just wanted to take a minute to say thank you to everyone who contributed to making this event happen, it was really amazing fun and the screenshots don't tell the whole story of how large the gathering of tankers was with two full zones.
I was on a newb tank that got some of the random millions acemace was handing out and I got about four easy levels on it from the av and gm smashing, so I was completely satisfied.
My hats off to the people who ran the contests and organized the mayhem it was really well put together, and the buzz acemace created for the event probably got a lot of people interested in coming who otherwise would have no interest in tanks.
    Your server should be proud!

I just transferred one of my tanks over today, but maybe I should make a new lowby the get on the level 50 for the costume contest and tf race, or would that make me a greedy slob?

Ah good to know thanks, so much has changed in a couple years and the forums remain the main source of information.
I wish this event was tonight.
  14. So I feel like a newb but I'm wondering if dual builds are still basically the same setup as when they became available or have there been any adjustments, in particular does a second build still have no access to the original builds IOs?

It really is wild, soo much has come and gone since 2004 except this event, which in itself sort of symbolizes a Tanker, kudos.

This probably isn't the place to ask this but how is Invul/EM these days, I was thinking of dusting mine off until I noticed some not so flattering posts about both the sets, is there a condensed version of any recent changes to either for the last couple of years.
  18. Sweet, time to dest off my old tanker, and great graphic btw it shouts Tanker Power.

Given those quarterly numbers encompassing the games second largest retail release, the PS veteran staff (the ones left) will likely continue to be replaced with younger personnel (who will work for less).

And given that it's reasonable to conclude at this point that GR was city of heroes last big retail expansion, how many more fiscal lives does it have left?

Definitely this first of it's kind mmo will reach the eight year milestone, but a full decade of operation can't be guaranteed by any rational measure.

Me and my boys wandered into playing wow years ago and I'm not going to lie I was amazed how much time you can sink into an mmo, and if we hadn't set limits there's no doubt my boys grades would've dropped.
Yeah drugs and alcohol and clubbing can become addictive, but who gets into an mmo thinking it can be a danagerous time sink, no one.

I'm black, I don't like fried chicken and I don't like watermelon and I actually stayed with my wife to raise my boys, what number warning sign would you attach to that, while you're wearing that internet psychologist jacket? I mean help a brutha out.
