...you really don't believe me?? Lol dude just get a friend, or even a few friends, to try it for you. GUARANTEE you'll see them walking, even if they don't know what they're doing and only get it off 'briefly'.
Trust me, there's no photomanipulation going on there besides me uploading from my CoH directory to imageshack and linking it lol -
You mean *others* only noticed you walking when you were going in a circle?
-
BEAUTIFUL page!! Thank you Telepath
Been looking for an updated emote page of that quality for some time now!!!
-
Ahh bummer
But I'm sure you know that you CAN walk in the current game as a hero, right? (check my link--I figure you might be the kind of person to appreciate it
)
-
Wow o_o yea that page shows a feww more emotes than u can perform in game...lol, that's crazy!!
And np for the walking complimentIm a bit of a fan of the art of walking, myself... ( http://boards.cityofheroes.com/showf...=1#Post7777470
). Do you have any walking tips for those of us trying it in the game? Because the walking u guys did was FLAWLESS!
-
That'd probably take nothing short of hacking the game or changing the code, Shego.
Some more screens: a bit better, but I still havent really tried yet

This thread already is on my fav's list to lol
I'm just hoping someone comes on to say what emotes were used in that! (the less 'common' ones anyway).
Did I mention the actors in this movie did some DAMN fine walking?? -
Yea Archimedes I'm almost positive that isn't the case. My connection to the web is about as fast as you can get. If others are seeing someone do it, you should be able to see it to. Maybe the person wasn't actually doing it right?
And Aerones, cliickkk the screeensss!! -
Where can one find a better list of emotes then? I'd really like a complete one that lists everything technically possible (because this one is obviously incomplete, right? http://www.cityofheroes.com/gameinfo/emoteguide.html )

Wow, this stuff is GREAT!
First time I ventured into the screenshot and Fan Art forum and this is what I find...goldRecruit some more members, I'd love to see some more of this!! What sort of help do you guys need? (and what characters/servers do you guys play on so I can meetcha all in person maybe?)
EDIT: Oh and you guys used a few emotes I've never seen used before...one of which was a sort of talking when you just bob your head and move your hand (at your side) and the other was another kind of talking animation I think. Might you have any idea what these could have been? (that are *not* in the standard 'apostrophe' menu?) -
I thought this might be a fun thread to start, so I'm starting it
First, my rather effortless contributions (I'll actually try for some good ones in the future ):

Now the explanation...
For the past I don't know how long, months, maybe over a year, I've been trying to raise a sort of CoX community awareness with walking. I don't know how many level 50's I've met that never knew it was possible to walk. So now, I feel this is a good and fun way to show off what is possible as far as walking goes within the current game build.
To walk: Simply tap the forward key (W by default) very rapidly to get your character moving slowly and consistently. NOTE: YOU will look as if you are doing a sort of twitching, BUT *everyone else* will see you walking. It is a bit tricky, so have a friend tell you if you're getting it right or not so you can change up your tapping a bit.
As for the purposes of this thread, you will need to first teach and encourage others to walk, then take screenshots of them with the Print Screen button while they're in the act!! (This will also help to spread community awareness )
To host images: Go to http://www.imageshack.us/ and click browse to upload CoX screens from your C:/Program Files/CoH/screenshots directory.
Let's see what awesome sorts of walking pics you guys can make!! I want to see drama! I want to see compelling scenery! I want to see a defying hero walk confidently into hordes of villains and vice versa!!! Bring them on!!!
And PS- ...maybe I kinda sorta hope that once enough people realize how cool walking can be, the dev's will feel a bit more of a fire burning under their bums to get 'em moving on a solution At least to making it so you can see YOURSELF walk as well as everyone else can see you doing it!

Fury gained per attack / attacked in pve vs:
Minion: 4 / 2

Sigh... I am sure it will get fixed, hopefully during test.

And now the Issues are getting smaller and even less frequent? Issue-7 was a lame duck that should come out of Crytic's pockets, not ours. Boasting an increase in subscription numbers while shrinking the Development team down to a skeleton crew while still charging the same price is unnacceptable. I think I've seen enough... I'm tired of getting screwed. This game's potential has finally decreased the the point that it fails to balance the monthly cost and time investment.
I'll be back when/if they ever come around and accept their share of the burden.
[/ QUOTE ]
Skeleton crew? Guys, let's not jump to conclusion here. First, Cryptic Studios hasn't layed anyone off. A quick glance shows we're hiring! Second, NCSoft announced cutbacks, but the announcement didn't specify where people were taken off. Remember, NCSoft is a leading MMORPG publisher. They have LOTS of stuff on the burners...Most of which never see the light of day.
A quick look at our release schedules show that only the first issue was released within two months. The second issue was 79 days later (as noted in this thread). Issue 3 then followed 110 days later, Issue 4 120 days, etc. We started trending more towards 3/year within a few Issues...mostly because we started learning about the production & QA cycle.
Bottom line: CoH remains a success in NCSoft's portfolio. They're continuing to financially support the product for a long time to come...Cryptic Studios loves the game. It's our baby. The game isn't going anywhere!

Bingo. That pretty much nails our design on bases. We're slowly but surely making additions and changes based on feedback & data. We'll get there...I think bases are a case study where a design didn't mesh well with actual gameplay! For some odd reason, some posters have thought my Serious Games speech blamed the players; heck no! Bases are 100% a DESIGN problem. Not a player problem.
[/ QUOTE ]
...make a zone for bases that we can all see and go in. Maybe one half hero one half villain. All problems then = outta the window and game = 2x as compelling! -

I realize that developer time is scarce and need to be prioritized. I also acknowledge that PvE matters will take precedence. But I do think there is an obvious inequity when a bugged badge or costume adjustment takes precedent over bugs that are, at least to a significant minority of the population, of high importance and extreme in their effect.

I did want to comment on the issue of the relatively speedy change to costume issues versus server code issues like arena stability. Please keep in mind that the development folks who do the art are different people from the folks who do client/server code. So, while I don't want to diminish your point, I do want to point out that not doing the costume things wouldn't help speed up addressing arena issues.

...is there any way you can inform us as to how many people work on what exactly anyway, Lighthouse?
[/ QUOTE ]
That would rock; an exact count of how many people currently work on what, art, bugs/fixes, etc.
