  1. Looks like the thread's back or has been restarted & has an explanation for why they're doing what they're doing with that:
    Explanation post

Someone posted in the discussion that followed this post, that if you want the badge & think you're going to be unavailable during that timeframe, you could just log in, enter a mission, and make sure your computer doesn't go into a power saving shutdown. Doesn't help those that would rather be playing or who don't want to leave their computer on for an extended period of time, or who have lousy internet service which may not keep them connected that long, but it is a suggestion that also helps serve the purpose of that particular server event if such things are of interest to you. Also, you'd possibly help others get the badge if you help meet the stated concurrent players goal.
  2. For myself, I like the effect of Empty Clips -> Bullet Rain -> Empty Clips with Fire Ammo on a large tightly packed mob, solo or otherwise. It's true I may not get to finish that chain if I'm playing with others, but I'm ok with that as I feel I've contributed to making it possible.

A number of NPC's found in the game have been characters Positron (the developer) played at some point in his gaming history. I believe Colleague is another.

Yep. Given that the GM wasn't there, all he can go by is what the server logs tell him. Who knows why the server recorded Marauder as being pacified, but apparently it did. Given that, I think we'd need video of the fight to counter the server log review. It sucks that they won't take our word for it, but I can understand why they can't. Feel free to attribute malice to CS behavior if you want to, I didn't get that sense in my interaction with the GM I dealt with.

Actually, no. My dealings with Customer Service on this matter appear to me to be taken seriously. This could be because I have the ability, when I want to, to be obstinately oblivious to the brush-off. I guess I'll see as I continue to take them up on their answering any further questions I might have.

Knowing how invested people were in getting the MoLambda badge, even if I hadn't noticed, I'm positive the rest of you would have noticed if Marauder had been pacified & been upset that someone had ruined it for that effort. As that didn't happen, I'm wondering if there's some other way for the use of a pacification grenade to be recorded in the game logs. We have learned that picking up a temporary power in the courtyard should deny you the awarding of any of the non-use badges, so I'm wondering if that's because it gets recorded as a use of the power? So if we accidentally destroyed one of the pacification grenade drops, then that's how our usage of a pacification grenade got recorded?

If that's how the reward determination mechanism is coded & recorded in the game logs, then I can see that getting awkward for Customer Service if they can't differentiate between usage & courtyard pick-up. Not that it would necessarily matter to them as both conditions work out to be the same thing to them, you are not qualified for the the badge.
  6. While only from a sample size of one, the one Very Rare I received was when I was very busy on SiberianTigress on our borked MoLamda run. During that run I was using Transfusion as often as it would come up to provide the -regen, but the other thing that happened was that when the group got caught by Marauder's Nova Fist I also healed those that had also been caught (BTW thanks for the Barrier buffs whoever had it & used it!). One of the other things I did was was use both Siphon Power & Fulcrum Shift as often as I could. The thing I noticed then was when I used Siphon Power, I did try to see to it that someone other than me got the benefit of the buff by being in fairly close proximity to me. And with Fulcrum Shift there were times when I held of just a bit when I saw incoming enemies so that I could provide a little bigger buff.

The other times I've used Tigress & received the lesser rewards, I had either not been as careful to squeeze out as much benefit from my buffs, or not had as many opportunities to "optimize" my buff/debuff (someone else got the heal in, or the mobs were all dead before I could get Fulcrum shift off).

I've seen similar trends with my other characters (catch as many targets as possible when using AoE's, go to the thickest concentration of allies when I pop a buff, wait until I see someone's actually injured before throwing out my Rebirth buff/heal & catch as many people as possible to provide the regen buff.) When I make deliberate efforts to make the most of as many of my character's abilities as I can, I tend to get better rewards. It doesn't always happen, so there likely may be some element of comparing performance relative to other characters on your team or league. (Which I think would suck because I am lucky enough to play with some very good players & don't want to be graded on a curve with them... I know where I'd fall... :P)

I don't know if there's anything to these observations, but that's what I've noticed & I thought I'd mention it just in case it can help anyone. (I thought to mention the making an effort to make the most of the use of your powers because I've seen others write that they're spamming their powers & I'm not sure if that means they're just using their powers as often as they come up, or if they are assuming that people know that they are also trying to use them to best effect & just use spamming as a conversational short-cut.)

Just going to shut up now & see what support decides. Probably should have done this from the beginning.

Saw the conversations from the Badge section that Arwen must have been talking about. I can see her frustration in that some are getting the badge & others aren't for doing the same dang thing. At this point, it seems it doesn't matter what the game says the requirements are, or what the requirements are supposed to be because they don't work anyway!

And then when I get home, I'm going to go out & smash me some BAF or Lambda or tip baddies. RAWR!!!
  8. Red_Gren

    MoLambda baby

Yeah, I saw some of that Arwen. Which has lead me to decide I'm going to wait & see how our issues get resolved.

    That said...

Initially, I just wanted to understand what happened. Why didn't we get the MoLambda? If we earned it, then the game's broken, it needs to be fixed, & I should get the rewards I deserve. Also, if the game's broken, it doesn't make sense to try again until we hear the problem's been fixed. If we didn't earn it, then I want to know why not, so I can then go back & solve that problem with the assistance of fellow players! This means, the game isn't broken, but rather we got bad information & there's something we can do about it without dev or support team assistance.

As I said, I didn't know what the requirements were going in on the run, so I guess that makes me focus more on what the requirements actually are vs what the game said they were. I think the support team can only help when the actual requirements fail to get rewarded, and so again, it seems to me, it's more important to find out what the actual requirements are and then figure out if we met them. As far as I know, arguing that the game said this is the requirement when it really isn't the requirement doesn't give the support team the ability to grant us a reward we didn't actually meet the requirements to earn.

Now I don't know about you guys, but having seen how upset this experience has made you, I would like to see to it that this doesn't continue to be a problem. Thus to me, it makes sense to figure out what is indeed broken code & what is the result of bad communication. We can then pass this information along to the development team to get fixed appropriately.

Based on all the information available to us, the failure for us to be awarded Well-Stocked looks like broken code. The information available to us regarding our failure to be awarded Antacid & Lambda-Looter (& as a a result MoLambda) is confusing. Some information makes it look like it's broken, and other information makes it look like it's bad communication.

I like to think our devs are more intelligent than that. They should have just simplified this... one badge for collecting all 20 temps, one badge for not using acid on any doors and one badge for not using any grenades. The whole "collect 10 and don't use" thing makes it unnecessarily difficult on the code tracking completion, particularly since there are deliveries during the fight, and that I think captures the intent of the badges.

Regardless, hopefully this will get resolved quickly one way or another.
    Bridger & all,

    It's not looking good.

I saw a discussion on the Freedom boards about MoLambda & someone linked to a Support article (post #5) that, assuming it's NCSoft's/ParagonStudios' official position, confirms what we hoped was not the case.
    • Get 10 Molecular Acids and no Pacification Grenades, but don't use them, and get Antacid.
    • Get no Molecular Acids and 10 Pacification Grenades, but don't use them, and get Lambda Looter.
    • Get 10 Molecular Acids and 10 Pacification Grenades, but don't use them, and get Well-Stocked.

Of interest, the support article does not mention needing the Synchronized badge.

Given the information in the Support article, we definitely should have received the Well-Stocked badge & did not. This should without a doubt be pursued. As I didn't even know about the other badges going in to that attempt, & only joined because I saw you guys say you thought you could use a Kin, I'm not so invested in position "we should get the other badges because that's what it said in-game." What I am invested in is finding out why we didn't get the MoLambda badge & rewards, and what can be done to prevent this same sort of disappointment in the future.

Based on all the information that I'm aware is available, here's what I know:
    • Well-Stocked is not working as intended, this needs to be fixed. We did what the game said we needed to do AND what an official outside the game source describes as the intended way, it appeared broken to us, we reported an apparent bug in the game. Without a doubt, we deserve this reward.
    • Antacid may or may not be working as intended. We don't know because the requirements for Antacid are not adequately described within the game, this needs to be fixed. We did what the game said we needed to do & as a result, it appeared broken to us, we reported an apparent bug in the game. It would be nice to get the reward.
    • Lambda Looter may or may not be working as intended. We don't know because the requirements for Lambda Looter are not adequately described within the game, this needs to be fixed. We did what the game said we needed to do & as a result, it appeared broken to us, we reported an apparent bug in the game. It would be nice to get the reward.

    MoLambda baby

Well shoot, we should have got Well-Stocked at least!
    Checked SiberianTigress & that's a no go.

Antacid & Lambda Looter I'd say were written deliberately ambiguous so as to get people to try different things to get them. Though unless the folks that handle petitions enjoy dealing with the same problem time after time, it would probably be sensible to change the in-game text to describe the requirements less ambiguously.
  11. Red_Gren

    MoLambda baby

I talked to a buddy who's familiar with the requirements & he tells me that I was missing the requirements for two badges needed for MoLambda. (I don't know what they're called.)

One badge is for collecting all 10 molecular acids & none of the pacification grenades and the other is for collecting all 10 pacification grenades and no molecular acids.

Now I can't speak for everyone else that was on the team, but I know I haven't done that. So... who's up for two Lambda runs?

Oh & one of the people was Darren Shephard played by I think @Hyper-Evolved Ogre, though Darren might be on one of his alternate accounts.

Assuming you're still talking the Alpha unlock arc, it shouldn't be too bad, as the action starts from Ouro or the RWZ anyway. I guess the dodgy part would be getting to Ouro?

As far as continuing playing your Alpha brute goes, you could consider playing the morality missions to gain access to hero-side. While Grandville would likely bring an old computer to its knees, running morality missions in less demanding zones can be done with the help of folks willing to pitch in. (Like me if you're on late enough to catch my late Pacific time arriving behind.) (Getting the tips to get the missions is the tricky part that would benefit from friendly player assistance.)

Of the few who did respond on the other times we had to turn them away since they did not have their alpha slotted.
I don't know about Wanted, but I was able to average 2 Tin Mage WST TF's each night I tried on Justice (typically starting around 8pm Pacific). I think the time to complete varied from ~27 to ~50 minutes depending on if it was a group of friends or a PuG. And, the times decreased as the week wore on & people got more practiced at running the TF.

OK. I19! Two Task Forces which are NOT gear locked!

You can participate in these Task Forces even if you don't have the Incarnate enhancement slotted. You'll effectively be -8 to the mobs in the TF, likely not contribute much, & it seems most people wouldn't want to invite you, but you aren't locked out by the software. I suppose it's done this way so that those looking for a serious challenge in this game can try forming a no Alpha slot team and see if they can complete either of the TF's.

I just see a pattern. I hope it doesn't keep going like this but I'm not going to keep myself from telling the devs my concerns because the forumites don't like opposition.
Please do keep speaking your mind! Others may not agree with you, and I find myself not agreeing with you on this matter, but if it weren't for people not satisfied with the current state of the game, then we might not have got to where we are now. (Which might not be awesome for you, but I'm pretty happy!)

I used to think the people complaining about no end-game content were a bunch of whiners who didn't get it that the game was about the process of developing a character from level 1 to 50. Now thanks to them, the devs, and the success of others MMO's with end-game content, I find myself having hauled out moth-balled characters & had a ball playing the heck out of them!

I might not appreciate your opinion now, but it might lead to something that I'll enjoy immensely in the future, so as I stated before, please do keep expressing your concerns. (In a reasonable, well-written manner. It seems to me the people who matter are more willing to consider your opinion when you do it that way.)

  20. Sorry that I've been slacking. I've not seen widespread enthusiasm for a get-together & so I've not felt an urgent need to make any decisions.

Looking at the hours of the places mentioned above, the Grubstake Diner looks like it could provide the widest window for folks to gather, lunch, & schmooze without having to make reservations (since I don't know who's coming or when). Since we were talking a late lunch, say we meet up there around 2pm? That should be late enough for there not to be a busy lunch crowd & we should finish up there early enough for those who want to then retire back to their hotels to freshen up for the M&G @ 7pm.

    So... the details:
    When: 2pm, November 06, 2010
Where: The Grubstake Diner, 1525 Pine St.

It's a little over a mile from the Civic Center BART station going up Polk St. Things I noticed off Google Maps, you'll be passing Brenda's French Soulfood that tremorr mentioned, & in no particular order... passing near the Mitchel Brother's O'Farrell Theatre, the Great American Music Hall, the Lush Lounge, Loveslap Recording, SNOB Wine Bar & Lounge...
The Grubstake Diner is also about 1.4 miles from the M&G site for those not needing to retire back to their hotels. As DD pointed out, Chinatown is close to the location of the M&G and wouldn't be a huge detour if you were to walk from the Grubstake to Elephant & Castle.

N.B. Not being a resident of San Francisco & not using a topographical map, I haven't the slightest idea what hills or seedy neighborhoods you may encounter.

  22. Enough dawdling. So here's a few ideas that I'm going to throw out & see what sticks to the wall.

Really close to the M&G is the Ferry Marketplace which will have a farmer's market going on as well as a number of restaurants, cafes & small eateries to choose from. We could potentially go there for lunch & then hang out until the M&G.

    The Triple D options:
    Closest to the M&G are
Dottie's - featured in the "Comfort Cookin'" episode (Breakfast & burgers)
Grubstake Diner - featured in "One of a Kind" (Burgers, salads, sandwiches, steaks, chops & chicken)
Rocco's Cafe - featured in "All Over the Map" (Italian style - soup, salad, pasta, entrees & sandwiches , also does breakfast)
Tommy's Joynt - featured in "Long Time Legends" (Hof brau style eatery w a buffalo stew & buffalo chili)

    tremorr suggested both
    Buca Di Beppo
    Brenda's Soul Food

    DD suggested lunch in Chinatown

    Comments/opinons from those coming?

For myself, I plan on taking Friday off & getting a room for Friday & Saturday nights. I'll have the car & should be able to cart 3 others around if we need to drive anywhere. (Which I'll try to minimize as I HATE driving in San Francisco. Probably because I don't do it often enough, but *shrug* whatever.) My plan is to try out a couple of the places on the triple D list over the "extended weekend." Brenda's looks interesting too.
  23. I got word that TJ will be making it out & will be coming in on Friday. Anyone else coming in early?

Still need to get in touch with friends about any recommendations or suggestions they might have, but one thing I've been toying with is checking out places featured on Food Network's "Diners, Drive-Inns & Dives"

Personally, I'd be up for doing a Chinatown lunch, but given my preference to include as many people as possible & TJ's aversion to asian cuisine, I'm hoping we can find another venue that is equally appealing to all involved.

Though I gotta say, now that you've mentioned it, I now want to figure a way to work in a meal in Chinatown sometime over the weekend. Ooh... Dim Sum on Sunday maybe? Anyway, since you're here & posting, any recommendations for places to go in Chinatown DD? (They don't have to be Dim Sum places, Dim Sum just occured to me as a possible good thing to do in San Francisco kind of thing. Any suggestion would be welcome!)
  24. Count me in.

Trying to figure out what to do beforehand. Another "Justice" shindig in the works. Anyone willing to hang out with the loonies is welcome. Thus, far I'm thinking something lunch-like around 1pm or so but that's it for anything resembling details.

I've got a thread going in the Justice forums if you want to RSVP & keep informed on what I come up with.
