Brutes, regardless of fury, can accept more damage buffs to take them to their phenomenally high cap. Team friendly.
Scrappers, while also team friendly, have more reliable damage and criticals are gravy. Just not as high a cap. Better for soloing IMO.
So when I knockout blow at the damage cap, I giggle. But when I hit Golden Dragonfly after BU and Fiery Embrace and it criticals, I smile so wide it hurts. -
This is actually far from what you're probably looking for. I stripped Lotus Drops out of my build so it isn't focused for AoE. It does, however, allow your attack chain to focus less dependently on DA for defense while maintaining good bonuses elsewhere.

I wonder if the devs actually expect us to pack inspirations appropriately? Because I sure as hell don't. I expect my character to be able to function without them, not crutch on breakfrees and blues vs Malta or yellows and purples vs PPD at level 20 :/

Join the Resistance. I'm already tired of being told what to do, how to think, and when to act. But I would kill every last one of those damned <EDIT>. Holy crap I almost got myself beta-banned for that one.

I look for brutes, scrappers, or even stalkers for DPS.
Tanks when I know I need someone to get the **** kicked out them to protect the team.
Since tankers get their defensive powers as primaries, I almost always pick them when I need a "soaker" or "taunter" because they have their defenses sooner, and slotted better sooner as well. -
Brutes have more HP, higher resist caps, and fury at 60% (I think) maintained makes them on par with scrappers.
You literally have NO idea what can of worms you're opening if the Forum Elites catch of wind of this thread. There's a raging debate amongst them on the matter. For the time being, I can offer you this:
Scrappers still have access to a few powersets brutes do not, their damage is dependable and their criticals are a great bonus. -
I dunno if it's the case anymore, but in the past I've critted on Boxing. But that could very well not be the case anymore.

As clicks I wouldn't take them because no enemy would survive long enough for them to be relevant. As a toggle, I can use them when I need to scrap for a while, or while escorting a kidnapee and I can't be stealthed, or when in a team and the -tohit benefits everyone.
But I also have so much I want to fit into stalker builds that having skippable powers doesn't bug me. =) -

DA infuriates me, and MA is just kinda... eh.
The fact that Cloak of Fear and Oppressive Gloom are toggles that unhide you is just... insulting. They need to be reworked into clicks. -

I don't think you can do it without -regen, but that's just me. Tanks just don't do enough damage. Maybe if you were WP/SS?

I use Player Notes with a ranking system to avoid these problems.
1-star: Noobtard
2-star: Just met them, unsure of competency
3-star: Neutral friend
4-star: Good friend with reputation
5-star: Veteran player with dependable contributions
That being said, I always show player notes. PI is full of one-star wonders on my computer.
