Quote:There are several levels to pacifism, not just one single, dogmatic definition.Since pretty much the only thing that nets you experience is reducing your enemy's hit points to zero, the entire concept of being a pacifist in this game is a non-sequitur. Helping others reduce hit points to zero qualifies as aiding and abetting violence, which a true pacifist cannot do.
To the OP:
I run my Illusion/Empathy as a pacifist, well in the sense that she wont take a life. I'm sure there's a term for it, but I can't recall it at the moment. Her only damaging power is Spectral Wounds. For her it is not an attack power, she actually uses it to plant Zig MedComs on her enemies. As for her pets; the Phantom Army, Spectral Terror, and Phantasm... she's a psychic, all of her pets are mental manifestations of her enemies fears. They are, in effect sustaining no damage other than their own psyche attacking itself.
Excluding physical weapons, you could probably create a concept with any power you wanted and find a way to describe it and play it under your original description. -
If I remember correctly, many of the 'Finales' also cannot be auto-completed.

This is getting closer. I'm getting excited.

Quote:"Idiot" was a bit harsh on my part, mostly I just shake my head. Are they idiots though? I see this a lot in the market forums to varying degrees of animosity. Are these people really just ignorant/impatient and paying extraordinary amounts, or is there just something wrong with the rate of income in this game?
Who cares if someone wants to drop 10k on a few pieces of common salvage to craft their enhancement right "nao" when a typical level 50 can earn like 30k influence every time they hit Foot Stomp? When a typical ambush AE map gets you something like a million influence every run and you can repeat it every 3 minutes you might as well pay 10k for a piece of salvage you just wanna get now and be done with it. The seller benefits and the buyer makes back all of his money 100x over in 3 minutes flat. Even if you're not a farmer, any 50 running a regular mission will earn millions of influence between regular income and selling drops just by doing a few missions.
As for the buyer who doesn't have tons of inf to burn, just like Fulmens said, you can sell that item yourself if you want to. There are so many easy ways to make gobs of starting money in this game. Barring all of that, the cheap-o lowbie can still bid 500 and get his item eventually.
I don't think these "buy it nao" people are lazy, ignorant, or impatient. They just don't care about the difference between 500inf and 10,000inf because money falls of them like the wind driven snow.
Lazy or ignorant, not so much, impatient, yes. I agree with you that there are players to which most amounts of inf are inconsequential. -
This affects more than MM pets as well, my Animated Stone has started doing this, and it was fixed for a while at least.
/releasepets then re-summon works, but a single-target buff should also re-assign your pet to you. -
Dark Servent - Smudge
Animated Stone - Kitty Kitter
Can't say that I call any of my pets a name that ends in -y.

You can join that channel by typing: /join N P C
As for the OP, Welcome to CoX. I would highly recommend introducing yourself to the New Player Council (N P C) and let us know what server you are on. There are Mentors on every server and any one of them would be happy to answer your questions in the 'N P C' channel, or you can request a Mentor.
As has been mentioned before, follow your contact chain. There is tonnes of content out there within the mission, take your time and read it, including the clues. Often you will see the blue 'Clue' pop up on your screen as you are playing through missions. Clues are accessible from your Navigation window, just click on 'Clue' to open that tab.
As you are new, I don't suggest skipping through things. If you haven't done the Invention Tutorial at the University yet, then I recommend doing so. You will be given a new contact when you reach level 10, 'Admissions Officer Link' (hero side) or 'Dean John Yu' (villain side) who will start you on the tutorial. Read everything. It does a decent job of explaining the crafting process, recipes, salvage, and if I remember correctly directs you to speak with your local Auction House Rep, Wintworths (WW, blueside) or the Black Market (BM, redside.)
The biggest thing is don't be in a rush to get to 50. You will hear it repeated often in these forums, "It's not the destination, it's the journey."
Most importantly, have fun! -
That pretty much sums up the market before and after the merge.
When I see salvage where there is 10k in stock, yet people are still paying 1k, 5k, 10k inf or more, my first thought is 'idiots'. Impatient people pay inflated prices.
You want to buy it for less, then bid less. I can't count how many times I've bought items going for 1mil for less than 1k inf. -
I can't even remember the last time I saw a spammer in-game.

Quote:I've enjoyed that Halloween Tip mission quite a few times on several characters. Finally got a Halloween tip mission drop last night, great fun!
Cool maps, it was fun dukeing it out with some Praetorian enemies with my fire tank, and bashing CoT is always a good time. It had a nice TF/story arc feel going even though it was just one mission.
The reward structure was cool too, it made me want to run it again. -
Quote:You're right, they don't attack. I can take any of my 50's through anything but Grandville or Peregrine Island on Walk, and not worry about any of the local foes attacking my character.Uhh, no they do not. Yes, eventually they do run but many times they still attack you.
fix'd -
Except, unless your character is running toggles that aggro, they will ignore your character if they con grey to you.

Quote:Okay now GMan, that was just scary how you were able to channel GG. Creepy. Really.Yea, sucks doesn't it.
"Hey Skybolt! You just saved the world from total annihilation but your still a murderer!"
"Hey Electro-Kid, thank you for killing those men before they could **** my daughter, but you still a murderer!"
"Hey Batman, you just killed Two Face before he could murder thousands of people, but your still a MURDERER!"
It's all about perspective.
And I agree with another poster that if the Devs do cave in and change the name of 'Malleus', where does it stop?
I then would like to see 'Golden Rollers' name changed because it obviously alludes to drug paraphernalia, which against the EULA.
As for the game lore, Going Rogue arcs has your character killing NPCs, or have murdered NPCs in the arcs themselves, so the whole "No one is getting killed, they are being arrested." argument is pretty much out the window. -
Quote:Really?well, for my playstyle it suits me. i tried a few blasters at first, and this has a similar style, except you can keep the bad guys from getting to you for a lot longer. so far its been nice, aside from the "un-confusable" enemies.
I'd really like to meet one of these.
I mean if Scirocco can succumb to the ghosts of his fears and side with my Sang, then I'd like to meet he foe who has a stronger will than his.
Granted, my team went WTF! when Scirocco then went to lat the beatdown on Ghost Widow. Too bad it didn't last very long.

Not really. When I see "healor lft" I keep steppin'
Quote:Something even more effective than fading into the background? Not being there at all. It frees up a spot for someone who actually wants to do something and will contribute, not leech xp and influence off a team.
You're not needed for this in the first place. You're needed to contribute effectively. Wallflowering isn't effective contribution, so why build this way up until a specific point?
Tell: RU healor?
--->Tell: No, I R Controller (or whatever buff class I happen to be on.) -
Quote:I didn't miss the point, I'm mocking it for being ridiculous.
Quote:No GG, we have not missed the point. While I am not mocking you for having an opinion, I still do NOT agree with your opinion. I said it before and I will say it again:
"You have blown this all out of proportion because it bothers YOU."
Apparently, this is her windmill of the week... -
Quote:Hmm... interesting, but I already knew about the Malleus Maleficarum. I did a search of that wiki page, and didn't see a single reference in there of City of Heroes.
But that doesn't have anything to do with my comment where I was unable to find any reference to Malleus Maleficarum in City of Heroes. -

Quote:Basically they are upset over the Malleus Maleficarum, a codex on how to run witch trials. Since the media often protrays witches being only female, they are led to believe that the witch trials were only there to mass murder women.
Ignoring of course the whole element of the other gender that was also killed. Cause you know, no one cares about the men who where killed as well. The book after all does say that women are more often witches than men. Mostly because it came around in a time where men had thought they were the ones in charge.
However now we live in a time where we get offended over everything because it has some connection to this one time that this thing happened that was bad. Thus is the major reason people are upset over the title of the badge and the way it is earned. So they want to sweep the bad part of history under the rug, even though several people here have now been educated on it. (Though everyone already "knows" at least a little bit about the witch trials.)Quote:the name of a manual for persecuting witches is the perfect name for a badge awarded for.......persecuting witches.
Now, I know there is the Malleus Mundi (Latin, "Hammer of the World") in the Halloween Tip mission, which is described as
"The Malleus Mundi is an ancient text, one of the oldest bound books known to still be in existence. It is a magical focal point as well as a book of some of the most powerful spells ever devised. Whispers speak of its powers being able to bind gods, destroy moons, and re-write the fabric of reality itself."
Not seeing anything about witches or their persecution.
