Standing in the middle of an otherwise deserted street, the demonic woman looked around at her surroundings with a seemingly bored stare. Welp, she wasn't going to find out anything at all around here. She shook her wings out, wincing at a brief twinge of pain from one of them. Really shouldn't be so reckless, not like she'd stop but really she should. Then one last look around before she quite abruptly vanished, as though she was never there.
Maybe that guy she'd seen on her way down knew something, she though. So she wandered back over in that direction, and given he wasn't exactly trying to hide he wasn't particularly hard to find. Didn't look like he knew any more than she did, though. And what was that he was staring at, another dragon? (What was it with dragons around here, she wondered.) No, not another dragon. Looked very much like one, to mundane senses anyway. To her, it seemed almost to have two forms, both existing in the same place. Which was weird, but no weirder than some of the things she'd run into over the years.
Quote:Well that just wouldn't do, not at all. "Now now, just cause it's not what you thought is no reason to kill it", came a voice from right beside him, from an apparent demon which quite literally appeared out of thin air. In fact she'd just been invisible but he probably didn't know that. Nor did it occur to her that he might be surprised by her appearance and react with violence. With a click and a clack, a pair of nearly half-meter-long, savage-looking claws sprang from the upper wrist of the metal Dragon's right arm... -
As I understand it, Rain of Fire, Ice Storm and Blizzard all have no target cap.

What was that below her... faultline? No, couldn't be. Not cracked enough. The warzone? Nope, no crashed ship. Most likely then.... Boomtown, of course. Figures if her home was gonna collide with something over Paragon it'd do it over somewhere worthless like Boomtown. ...hey wait, were those people down there?
If the dragon or his computerised sensors cared to look up, they'd see something. A winged woman about seven feet tall approaching the ground at what had to be near terminal velocity. She seemed to be freefalling rather than actually flying too, her wings folded tightly against her back. Until she got to maybe 50 feet height, at which point said wings abruptly flared out to pull her out of her dive and into a shallow glide, losing speed rapidly until she touched down surprisingly gently considering the speed she'd been going no more than a few seconds earlier. She ran a few paces after landing before coming to a stop and looking around. "...definitely Paragon, yup", she commented quietly to herself. "...so what the hell happened? I can't even GET to Paragon normally..." -
(( Wherever we feel like, the whole thing here is worlds colliding so you could quite literally be anywhere. ))
-
The first she knew of it was when the whole room shook around her, practically catapulting her off the bed to a painful landing on both wings. She let out a pained groan, which reverberated around the room and the larger space beyond. "Ugh.... ow. Fine, I'm up. Now WHAT IN THE HELL is so important?!", she yelled, to someone. No one in particular, just whoever happened to be listening. Which at present was quite likely absolutely no one. But she asked anyway, just because she could. And only after she did, did she open red-irised eyes, catlike slits embedded in a pitch-black face ringed by blood-red hair and tipped by small scarlet horns. Muttering quietly to herself she headed for the door, only to stop herself.
"Right.... Where did I put those?" She looked around, then hurried over around the other side of the bed. She gathered up her clothes, a purple tank top and black pants with a slash pattern in the same purple down the sides. Throwing them on quickly, she again hurried out.... and stopped again, staring incredulously. "Aww, what the hell?", she asked again, looking across her living room to where the entrance portal usually was. Except it... wasn't. Instead, it was as if that whole area simply wasn't there. "Well that can't be good..." She hopped over the balcony she stood on and glided down to where the portal usually was. It and a good half of the structure usually around it was simply gone, leaving what she could only describe as a hole.
Through it... clouds? "Yup... definitely not good", she repeated, grabbing hold of one of the unlit torches on the wall and leaning out over the hole. Well there was something down there.... what it was, she had no idea. Welp, one way to find out. Stepping back a little, she took a short run up and gracefully dived off the edge with the traditional cry of "Geronimo!" Of course, the idea she might not get back never even occured to her. It should've, really, but she'd never been one for thinking ahead. Nor did she realise that what was by all appearances a demon dropping out of the sky above Paragon. (And it was Paragon she was headed for, she could see that now as the clouds cleared) -
Ever since the last episode of the first season of the new series of Doctor Who, I have always thought of time travel as being that pale gold colour.

Quote:While it wouldn't guarantee immunity, I would imagine being familiar with such things already would help when trying to learn how to stop people doing the same for you.And to your last, again I don't know your characters, but I do know that the ability to do something doesn't automatically give immunity from having it done to you. In other words, YMMV but just because someone's a telepath doesn't mean other telepaths can't listen in on their thoughts.

Actually she appears in two missions, one 25-29 one and one 30-34 one if I remember rightly.

Quote:Actually soldier maneuvers is around 15-16%, once fully enhanced. It's 10% base. Also, crab spiders get fortification which gives more status protection, plus significant resistances. 25%-ish to smash/lethal, 40ish to all others except psi I think?Soldiers get their status protection from their level 1 armour (wolf, Crab or Spider) while not as good as a melee class status protection it's more than any other ranged damage dealer.
Soldiers also get decent level of protection from things like Weave (6% defence), they can also take Maneuvers TWICE (own version which offers 12% defence and the power pool version which offers 6%) which gives them a total of 24% defence, then they get their tactical training defence which is another 7-8% or so making 31-32% defence which is about equal to SR.
Widows (including Fortunatas) get a copy of Indomitable will in addition to their SR level defenses.
Widows also get mindlink, which with enough recharge can be made permanent for another 15% or so defense to all positions. -
Quote:Especially when you consider power customisation to make it look less like dark melee, I could see this working.
Maybe Dark Melee... -
Personally I would propose removing the tohit debuff entirely. Fly itself used to have one too, I believe, which was removed when they introduced travel suppression. Somehow the same logic didn't make its way over to group fly as well.
-
I still don't get the logic behind people wanting to remove RotP. What's so bad about it? Oh no, you have to die. Newsflash for you. You WILL die. It happens, even to those people with mega-expensive IO builds. Being able to get up when it happens, and not only that but deal substantial damage to everything around you and be flat out invincible for fifteen seconds afterwards, is useful.
Also, there's a badge for getting debt you know. It's not like it's a hugely bad thing.
As for the rest, sure. I could go for frontloaded damage on burn, moving the immob protection to one of the toggles, and general improvements to consume to make it not massively worse than almost every other power of its type out there. However, I would ask everyone to remember the cottage rule - taking powers out and replacing them with something entirely different simply isn't going to happen. Even if it WAS a good idea, which IMO it isn't with RotP at least. -
Yup, Virtue is where most of the RP is on the US servers. Though we do have a decent community on Protector these days too.
-
I can see a few concepts it'd be perfect for, but really it's just like all other RP. I might be interested or I might not, depending on the specific character and the person playing it.
-
Just because I can, I'm going to throw an anecdotal example in here. My SR scrapper has elude. Guess how many time's she's used it, in my memory. Precisely once. And that was to see what the animation looked like, just after I got it. My /fire brute, on the other hand, uses RotP on average at least once or twice a mission. So, for me the selfrez is more useful.
-
No there was a present stealing mission in the 2005 winter event, according to paragonwiki.
On a slightly different subject though? You know what I'd love? Not having to rely on getting buffs to be able to get good times for the ski badges. How? Simple, add a Skis temporary power, available from the ski instructors at the top of each run, that acts basically as super speed and super jump in one power. Give it a short timer, say maybe 5 minutes, so people wouldn't be able to exploit it and use it as an actual travel power. If the effort could be spared they could (and should, if it's possible) make animations for it too, so characters can actually ski rather than just sliding about.
Also on the subject of ski runs, can we please make them give all badges any given time is elegible for? IE: getting silver gets you bronze as well and getting gold will get you silver and bronze too. Having to make three runs going deliberately slower each time becomes really really irritating when you do it on as many alts as I do. -
Yeah, fury problems kinda disappear when you're on a team or set to anything over three or four team size. Which any brute worth considering should be, really.
-
I don't give a damn how lacking in logic it might be, you will not take my Rise of the Phoenix. Just because you don't like the power is no reason to ask it be removed from the game. If you don't like it, don't take it. Make your character with a different set, or take the fighting pool instead or something.

I won't claim this is the best or anywhere near it, but:

Widows and Banes do mostly lethal and smashing damage respectively, though. The toxic is more of a secondary effect, like fire's DoT or broadsword's -def. Same applies to spines, it does mostly lethal with a toxic DoT secondary effect.

Quote:Probably in Cloak of Darkness would be where that would make the most sense. The power already gives +perception and resistance to perception debuffs, the two usually go together. (See: focused accuracy, targetting drone, tactics) Usually with +tohit as well but that might be overpowering, I dunno.
I kind of also think it should have some measure of ToHit Debuff Resistance, given that that's the standard secondary effect of Dark powers.
Thematically it works as well, the power makes you pretty much made out of darkness. Adding a little more to that with normal dark powers isn't going to do much, hence resistance to the usual tohit debuff that dark powers typically carry. The same argument could probably be made for adding a little more neg energy resist in there as well - enough to get to the res cap, maybe. -
Personally I'm perfectly fine with the way I do this already - disable ingame music and have winamp running in the background. I don't see any compelling reason to dedicate resources, possibly significant resources, to building something like this when an easy workaround is already available for arguably less hassle.
Not to mention streaming music requires a certain amount of bandwidth, both from the players which will annoy people on slower connections because they'll lag more and also from the server which has to relay all this stuff to other players. There's a reason MA arcs are limited to I think 150k, and it's not because their servers have tiny hard drives. It's because of the network traffic generated by them. Now, try that with 3-5mb music files and see how long it takes to kill the servers. Wouldn't be long if you asked me. -
I'm surpised no one has mentioned Golden Eagle High in here yet, given that RP thread got restarted just a few days ago.
-
I could be wrong, but I think there's already an option somewhere to put timestamps on chat messages.

As the title says, I have a pair of suggestions:
First, add something to the login screen visible at server selection that shows your global friend list, so you can see who's online and where before logging in. Especially for people like me who play on multiple servers, so many times I've logged in and immediately logged right back out again to switch characters because everyone's on a different server, or because I logged into a hero and everyone's playing villains. Just a QoL thing really, makes it easier to play with friends.
Second, I'd like to point out two powers. For controllers:
Mind control's Levitate:
- 40.4 damage to target
- 12.5 mag knockup to target
- -1.6 fly for 10 seconds to target
- 6.86 end cost
- 6sec recharge
- 80ft range
- 1.87sec animation
Gravity control's Lift:
- 24.5 damage to target
- 12.5 mag knockup to target
- -1.6 fly for 10 seconds to target
- 6.86 end cost
- 6sec recharge
- 80ft range
- 1.03sec animation
Notice anything odd there? Yeah, one does almost half as much damage for the same end cost, recharge and secondary effects. The only things different are the animation time (1.03 for Lift and 1.87 for Levitate) and the damage. Does a 0.84 second shorter animation really justify doing 15.9 less base damage? In PvP, maybe (There, they do 69.8 and 99.9 respectively) but I thought powers in PvE weren't balanced on animation time. Am I wrong about that?
Interestingly, for dominators the two powers do exactly the same damage (69.7 base). They used to be in the same position as the controller versions, but in Issue 15 I think it was when they did the dominator revamp Lift got changed to do more damage. Can we please get the controller version of the power changed in the same way? Or at the very least, an explanation as to why it isn't/can't be changed?
