"Much as he should have done more than hammer on the gates, he does have a point", Paxtera told the commander, sounding as if she didn't think he quite deserved the position with thinking like that. "Firing on anything unknown will only make you more enemies."
She then quite casually swung herself over the edge of the wall and drifted down to talk to Tafari face to face. "Presuming of course from your wording that you in fact aren't a diplomatic envoy, what do you want here?", she asked rather bluntly. -
Quote:(( So tempting to have her really rip off Doctor Who and respond with something like (I don't remember the exact line) "Well I'm the Lord of Time. I outrank you." Purely cause she's always wanted to say that to someone.
I saw you enter with Lazardarus. First thing first I'm the commander here understand
Actual IC post coming tomorrow sometime, when it isn't almost 5am and I'm not ridiculously tired. (Made the mistake of looking on tvtropes to see if I could actually find that line.... two hours later, here I am.) )) -
Unsure of how long the elf could keep Jade up there, Keth moved in as fast as she could. Flying in, she pulled up to a sudden stop right next to Trisys before grabbing her and flying back out. She may have been incapable of lifing Jade's massive form, but lifting the satyr, even mechanical as she'd become, was a much easier task. Setting her down somewhere not under threat of being crushed by multiple tons of dragon, she nodded to Lady Aineruda that she could set him back down now.
Ildela just sort of hovered around the back of the group, not being able to do much to help. "....why's she suddenly a robot?", she wondered aloud as her sister brought Trisys out from under the dragon.
-----------
Meanwhile, the guards on the gate would find themselves joined by another as Paxtera landed neatly on top of the wall, directly above the gate. She leaned over the edge to take a look at whoever was banging on it. "Knock louder, we don't think the other side of the planet heard you", she called down sarcastically. -
Quote:"As always, chaos is going on", Ildela explained, walking calmly out of the women's side of the springs dressed in a fairly worn looking black trenchcoat that'd had the sleeves ripped off it at some point plus pants of the same colour with three purple slash markings down the side of each leg, held up by a black leather belt with small silver studs set into it. Where she'd gotten all that from, or when she'd put it on, was anyone's guess. "Seriously, it follows me around", she added jokingly as she fiddled with her hair, tying it back into two long ponytails. Obviously she was merely making light of the situation, rather than actually claiming responsibility. Well, obvious to her anyway. To the elves, unfamiliar as they were with Earth culture, it was perhaps less obvious.
"Would someone explain what is going on!"
Kethara, meanwhile, had gladly taken the opportunity to not have to decide if she was getting in or not, and rushed over to Jade and Trisys at the first sign of trouble. But she'd stopped dead at the entrance, in awe of what was happening. Even though the magic was invisible to her, it just had this... presence. She may not be able to see it, but that something monumentally huge was happening here was undeniable. The sight of the transforming dragon about to collapse on top of the satyr, though... that made her move. Specifically towards said satyr, launching herself from a standing start to something approaching her top speed in a matter of about half a second - but she was still too slow. She had to pull up to an abrupt stop as Jade came crashing down right in front of her, almost close enough to take the skin off the tip of her nose, or she'd have been crushed under him. "Trisys is under here, help me get him off her!", she called to Lazardarus after he asked where the satyr was. She tried to pull Jade up, probably looking quite comical given he was about ten times her size now. The energy field she used to fly spread across the dragon's form as well as she struggled to lift him, but she still probably didn't have the strength.
-----------
Paxtera, meanwhile, responded somewhat slower. She all but ignored Trisys disappearing, but the crash as Jade collapsed got her attention. She sighed quietly to herself, sitting there just a moment longer before getting up and looking around for her clothes. Why couldn't things not go to hell, just once. It'd make such a nice change, she thought to herself before remembering the attendants had taken her garments to be washed. Another sigh, and she vanished into that same golden light that the whole group was probably familiar with by now.
Moments later (Ten seconds, to be exact) she reappeared in another flash of light at the edge of the pool now fully dressed once again, in an outfit that looked like it might actually fit in fairly well here. She started towards the other side of the springs to investigate the chaos Ildela was talking about, but stopped as a loud booming knock sounded through the valley. Must've been a hell of a hit to be heard out here, but there was no dust or anything so she presumed the gates were still standing. "Ildela, tend to things here", she ordered. "We will go see who that is." Ildela nodded her acknowledgement, and the peacebringer rose quietly into the air and flew off toward the gates to the valley.
Perhaps amusingly, all three of them seemed to be outright ignoring the guards' order to not move. -
False. The vanguard shield isn't affected directly by the shield toggles, what affects it is the character going into the shield combat stance (and thus using all related animations for that) when you activate said toggles. The costume piece is coded to animate when in that stance, much the same way as how wings flap and rocket boots fire when flying.
-
Lightning Rod, however, does as far as I know. It has several aoe damage effects, each of which is set to a different radius. Well, either that or a different chance to proc. I'm not entirely sure.

Quote:Here, midsummer IS Christmas.
Midsummer is more important than christmas here. -
Paxtera looked over at Trisys, who seemed the least afraid and most genuinely happy she'd seen the satyr thus far. She smiled to herself and watched the others relaxing for a bit, then closed her eyes and leaned back, just enjoying it. It wasn't often she got to just sit back and relax for a bit, without having to be constantly worrying about who was gonna erase half the galaxy from history this time.
Ildela meanwhile seemed quite at home in the hot springs, slipping under the water slowly and coming back up with hair all wet. She then laid back, floating there silently with the aforementioned hair slowly spreading into a fan around her head.
Kethara, on the other hand, looked like a fish out of water. Having no bathing suit with her, she was hesitant to just take off her clothes and jump in... but she didn't want to be the only one who didn't either. So she just sort of stood there at the edge, hesitating. -
The fact that one power does it, is reason enough to believe the same could be implemented for a second power, or a third.

If I remember rightly the text is more along the lines of 'hah, bet you didn't think we could fit one of these in here!'

Quote:The beam keeps going, but past that distance it lacks enough power to do notable damage? Just a random idea.
It'd just make people ask why they can't shoot farther than 40 feet if the blast shoots farther anyway
Actually come to think of it they could make that this set's gimmick - the powers all have really long range, but fired at something further away than the normal range of standard blast sets, they do way less damage. Dunno if that's even possible though, so meh. -
Quote:Amusingly, half of the reason I want that as an unlockable is because I HAVE an alien character already, who ingame uses an assault rifle but conceptually should use a gun that looks very similar to the sapper rifle.
I can just picture all the alien chars running around already. -
Quote:Might be overpowering to characters with no defenses normally, unless they set the numbers right. May also have a little too much crossover with fighting in giving +res and +def, and quite probably would overpower SR and Shields even more than what's currently achievable with IOs only, since you'd now need less IOs to do it. Especially with the +def toggles being the first two powers.Power Pool: Super Senses
Detect Scent (T1)
Toggle: +DEF (Melee), +RES (Defence debuff,)
Acute Hearing (T2)
Toggle: +DEF (Ranged, AoE), +Perception
Ultra-Optics (T3)
Auto: +Range (Ranged attacks), +ToHit, +RES (ToHit debuff)
Extra-Sensory Perception (T4)
Click: +RES (All except Psionic), +DEF (All), +Perception
----
Maybe it just needs laying out a bit better, how about this?
Also, what does someone with typed defenses do with such a set? A pool that has two powers being flat useless to some sets isn't a good pool, IMO. There's a reason all current pool powers that give defense are def(all). -
Possibly add a second option, with no full salvage requirement, that converts the recipe to a lower or higher level rather than the crafted enhancement with full requirement?
Personally I would think you shouldn't require all the salvage to recraft it, conceptually you should be able to salvage some materials from the existing enhancement - that'd justify a reduced salvage requirement in my eyes. -
Count me in as another one who's wanted an energy rifle blast set ever since the first bots MM I saw. My own version of it, as an alternate suggestion:
1) Pulse Burst (Ranged, Moderate energy damage)
Your basic 4 second recharge tier 1 blast. Animation should be the same as the equivalent power in Robotics.
1) Pulse Blast (Ranged, High energy damage, Chance for knockback)
Again, basic tier 2 eight second recharge blast. Animation is again taken from Robotics.
2) Sweeping Beam (Ranged(Cone), moderate energy damage)
Fairly basic cone attack, 40 ft range and 45 degree arc. Three ticks of damage, like fire breath does but lower total damage since it's a wider arc. Animation would be, oddly enough, the character firing a constant beam for a couple of seconds, sweeping it from side to side with an animation similar to Assault Rifle's flamethrower. Could probably use that animation (the movements, at least, the FX would need to be different obviously) to save some effort if needed.
6) Photon Grenade (Ranged(AoE), Moderate energy/smash damage, small chance for stun)
Oh look, a third power ripped from robotics.
8) Aim (Click, +accuracy, +damage)
Damage/accuracy buff. It's Aim, everyone with half a clue should know what this does and looks like.
12) Death Ray (Snipe, High energy/smash damage, knockback)
What's an energy rifle set without a Death Ray. In this case, a sniper power. Standard sniper damage, range, interrupt, etc. Animation would be similar to Assault Rifle's sniper power, with a beam something like fire's Blazing Bolt. Also for added awesome, a charge-up sound effect similar to what the battle drones do when firing their heavy lasers (The ones they get from the first upgrade), but longer to match the full interrupt time.
18) Heavy Pulse Burst (Ranged, High energy/smash damage, knockback)
Your basic tier 3 blast, I'm thinking 12 or maybe 14 second recharge with damage, end cost, etc as appropriate. Animation ideally would use something similar to Assault Rifle's burst power, with the FX being something like the protector bots' heavy burst (Again, the ones they get with the first upgrade) Three shots, hence using the burst animation. I think it should have full 80 ft range rather than the 40 most tier 3s have, since the protectors can shoot it that far. Don't see why players shouldn't be able to as well.
26) Concussive Pulse (Ranged, Minor energy damage, stun)
Fairly basic mez, 20 sec recharge/11.9 sec duration mag 3 stun. Could also be made a knockback power akin to energy's Power Push and still fit the name, but to really fit the theme you just have to have an option to set it to stun. Could possibly even have the animation include the character jabbing a button on the side of the gun to change firing modes, or some such.
Alternately, as Sam suggested above you could have the sapper rifle power here instead, stolen from Malta.
32) Overcharge (Ranged(Cone), Superior energy damage, chance for knockback)
Seems to be all the weapon sets get the 60 second recharge mini-nukes, so why not give this set one too. Essentially this would be full auto, but with lasers.
-------
Now, I don't mind in the slightest if any set they eventually add ends up vastly different to both of the suggested sets here, but one single thing I really REALLY want for an energy rifle set.... The malta sapper rifle as an unlockable weapon. Preferrably with the awesome blue glow on the front still intact - even if having it would mean I can't have an aura on my costume (If that ends up being the case, give a second option with no glow for people who want auras.) -
I had those garbage names come up in my global list a couple of weeks back, but my existing global friends were all there too still. Soon as the person whose name was duplicated came back online they disappeared.

Quote:Kethara shrugged, accepting the satyr's denial. She seemed more than capable of moving on her own, so Keth left her to it and just went along beside them. Soon enough she drifted into the air, cause walking was boring. She'd much rather be flying along beside them, doing silly little spins and loops in the air as she went.
Kethara's offer was met with an immediate, "No! No, no, thank you."
Quote:An older female elf came out. "Welcome to the Hot springs I'm Melisande. Please Males to the left and Females to the right. There is a wall keeping the two apart." She smiled "We are a family friendly hot springs and prefer to keep things clean in more then one sense of the word."
"Aww.... fine then", Ildela complained, drawing a slight laugh from her sister before the three of them filed off towards the side the elven woman had said was for females. Ildela looked back at the other side before she left, though, seeing what there was to be seen. Probably not much.
All three of them gave their clothes to the attendants to be washed. -
Well, assault in the leadership pool is 10-20% depending on archetype, but that's for the whole team and is a pool power. So, a self-only power in a secondary you would expect to have a larger buff. 25% at least.

Not every server, just the ones I play on.

<-- is also tempted to make such a character, though probably only in a thread since I too am way short on slots.
E: And probably in SH102 too, if I were to make it. I wonder, would anyone object to me having a second character? -
"We thank you for your hospitality", Paxtera told the gnome in probably somewhat different elven to what he was used to. Her accent and such on some words was way off, but even with that and her weird double voice it was still understandable. Possibly thanks only to Patches translating, but perhaps not.
Ildela and Kethara meanwhile were looking around at the scenery, noting the pixies and other somewhat unexpected wildlife around the place. "Trippy", Ildela commented almost absently.
Quote:"Ill carry her, if she can't", Kethara offered. How exactly the ten year old girl thought she was going to carry the satyr, she didn't say.He looked back at the group and took note of Trisys "It be a bit of a walk to where the springs are. Will you be able to make it?" -
Quote:"Onward and upward, then...", Paxtera commented in that strange echoing voice of hers, upon hearing said approval from Jade. Taking the satyr's hand, she concentrated for a brief moment, orienting herself and figuring out exactly where Lazardarus's homeland was from his directions. Hoping in the back of her mind that they weren't heading in completely the wrong direction she hurled herself and her passenger into the timestream, disappearing in a flash of golden light.
If when Trisys looked to Jade she found approval from her Master, Paxtera's hand would be accepted.
"Knowing her, she'll be back in precisely ten seconds", Ildela commented, counting them off on her fingers. Kethara just nodded her agreement. And sure enough, they were right. Precisely ten seconds after she'd left, Paxtera reappeared. Precisely, even by Jade's computerised systems - which were of course likely to include among their abilities an extremely accurate measurement of elapsed time. "Right then. If you're all ready?", she asked, ignoring the quiet chuckling of her two children.
-------------
Far from the barren (In human terms, anyway) plains of the landscape they'd just left, Paxtera and Trisys reappeared thankfully at least roughly on target. Sure they were several feet off the ground, but the peacebringer's ability to fly made that less of a problem as she lowered both of them gently to the ground. "Please stay here, thank you. We will reappear over there-" She gestured to a spot some distance to the side of where they stood. "-with the others in just a moment." She then turned away, paused a moment and then vanished again into that same golden light, leaving Trisys to look around at the scenery of the elven homeland. ((Which I'll let Rotten describe))

Could at least set up the existing fire and ice sword models for dual blades and broadsword, and possibly the stone hammer for mace. Uncolourable, like the elemental fire and ice shields are. Not sure how hard that'd be since they currently exist as power effects rather than weapons, though.
-
Quote:Paxtera smiled at her, nodding her agreement. She'd been about to suggest almost that exact solution but remained silent out of curiosity, wanting to see how long it'd take them to come up with it themselves. "Sounds like a plan to us", she agreed. "If it's alright, we'll take Trisys first and return for the rest of you." She held out a hand to the satyr.
Trisys's amber gaze contained a 'Please' for Paxtera to transport her separately to the elf's realm.
Quote:The Female Gre'shil hissed looking very annoyed and quietly to another Gre'shil "Me think Female is Kaja. NO pack offered kill to others before eating. She act like Kaja."
Quote:"Hey, you girls still with us? Don't go spacing out please. I'm not good at fixing that..."
"Hey, that's my line!", Ildela yelled back over to her, prompting a laugh from her sister. -
I would be in favor of this idea, but ONLY if they at the same time implement getting additional merits for setting (and completing) challenges, as I think they said they intended to a while back.
