Quote:The number of movies, television shows, radio shows, music, youtube videos, and many other media that you will hear sounds and tunes that are identical what we hear in the game are probably in the thousands. Purchasing access to libraries is a quick and easy (and arguably cheap) approach to adding music and sound effects to something. This is the theme music that played before every race in the MotoGP class. I'm sure you'll agree, very similar to a certain tune I hear many times a day.
Seeing that this theme has been going since 2008, do you think possibly the composer was a player or a fan?
The funny thing about Cryptic's Champions Online was that it sounded so incredibly similar to CoH because they just held onto the sound library rather than trying to differentiate themselves in the audio department. I think that was a driving force behind the new sound design that came in Issue 17.
Seriously, I had a YouTube of some leaked CO footage playing in the background once while I was coding and I really couldn't believe it was a different game until I tabbed over and watched. -
The abandon trick works for all regular contacts that give out random missions, as well.
For instance, in PI you have several contacts that give out random non-story arc AV fights but some of them you'd rather not deal with right away. Or maybe you're on a AV team and the only mission you're getting is the timed Shadowhunter mission and your team is too busy to change gears before time is up.
Take the mission and abandon it, and you'll get another random selection. Although once you've used up all the preferred missions you're only going to be bouncing around between all the timed or painful missions. -

Will it let me watch mobs mast....
Will it let me spy on my enemies? -
Where's the ;jugglecats emote this pack was promised by Nakayama to have!?

I've had 30 minute slug fests with Reichs and quick enjoyable relatively dynamic fights.
I'm of a firm opinion that Reichs is bugged and has Unstoppable behavior that does not work as intended sometimes. -
Zombie thread.
Hmm.
Need to find the banners and coordinate a team. -
Quote:I think it should be emphasized for our newer players that the invasion was nothing remotely like what you see in that screenshot, and the mothership zooming in and out above the zone (above the flight ceiling) didn't even work for everyone, so some people never even saw it.HUH?!?!?!?! I'm only coming up on the 9-month vet, can anyone gimmie a quick rundown on this mothership dealie?
No. It's explained during the Warzone arcs, but the attack that we initially thought was an unprovoked invasion was actually retaliatory. Nemesis plot. Seriously. I know it's a spoiler, but it's been quite a while since Issue 10 at this point. -

There isn't one, all US Holidays are technically International Holidays because they're the kings of the worlds.

Do leggings count as pants, do you think?

Don't forget who you're trying to have a conversation with, Tow. Scarlet is the one who suspects that free server transfers are part of a hidden, insidious plot by the corporate overlords behind the scenes.

Astute observations but... well, this is pretty much true across the board with respect to... anything.
Even games like Left 4 Dead are a much different experience when you've got a group of friends you regularly play with versus random games with strangers. Even outside of games, like the workplace. -
Don't forget, the "usual cast", IE. Forum Cartel, came and squashed his poor widdle observation.

No mention of Meridian 59? That predates UO by a bit. What about The Realm Online? It wasn't "massively" but it pretty much was an ancestor.
Meridian had free for all, if I recall. According to the wife, she quit almost as soon as she started because she couldn't take more than a few steps out of town without getting massacred.
While your post is compelling, one thing I've learned going from MMORPG to MMORPG is that, despite history, there are very few lessons that really seem to sink in. There seem to be dozens of repeated mistakes every new game. PvP really hasn't evolved, I don't think. PvP is still random from MMORPG to MMORPG, with little heed paid to previous ventures by those who went before. -
Absolutely, but the problem isn't the way the buildings are put together. Emphasizing the building thing is like making a big deal out of a spec of dirt on the white tablecloth you just murdered your husband on. There's a problem with complex things you can't even see getting rendered anyway, or sometimes there's a serious problem with the algo that is supposed to decide what gets rendered and what doesn't and you end up with almost everything on the map getting rendered.
-
Building geometry probably isn't an issue. They're very simple structures, and even on a low-spec machine it probably wouldn't have a significant impact. The memory used by a simple building, which is generally a box with other boxes on it, and the textures, is not too big.
Other objects in the world have high poly counts, or significant particle effects, and there are some instances where it is clear that objects that shouldn't be getting rendered are anyway. The "doodad" count, to use Blizzard jargon, is far far higher in CoV than in CoH and a lot of them are also more complex than entire skyscrapers.
Why would a computer without a dedicated graphics card even be relevant in this conversation? -
No it isn't. It's most likely just a little extra memory used.
-
Scarlet is probably a lot of fun at birthday celebrations or charitable events.

Pinnacle is the Pinnacle of COH.

Hopefully marketing reads this and corrects this on whatever page they advertise the feature on. Maybe people would transfer more often but they think they'll lose everything.
