I think a lot of the thinking behind this could be down to relating back to when you were a lowbie who wouldn't go within 100 yards of anything above Orange for fear if instant death.

    [/ QUOTE ]

This is partially true. I remember the first time I came across a purple boss in a kill all mission. He had to go to complete the mission. So I waded in. Huge confidence boost taking him out. I now had a new upper limit I could deal with.

However, that purple colour does mean something statistically. Statistically, it means this mob is getting hard to actually land attacks on, but, in turn, will be hard to defend against. I find missing boring. So, by preference, I'd rather fight reds and have an enjoyable time ripping them into sushi than fighting purples because someone else thinks it's fun to spend a long time doing that.
  2. Yes, I had noticed that half your sig block was taken up with quotes from me.

BTW, I can't actually giggle like a 19-year-old girl. My voice doesn't do that register.
  3. Is that, like, today? I don't recall it being very fast last time I used it.

    Actually... seemed slower to me.
  4. [ QUOTE ]
unless I have had a very bad day.

    [/ QUOTE ]

Well, I know that's every day for me so...

We had issues with a peer outside of our network that was part of the routing for a good portion of our player base this weekend. We've removed this peer from our routing options until they restore stability within their network.

    [/ QUOTE ]

Thanks for the update GR. It's a pity it took so long to identify the problem, but that can't usually be helped when there are third parties involved.

    [/ QUOTE ]

It didn't actually take that long. When I logged in for GG I had no trouble all night.

And I said it looked like a network problem. I'm just a genius. You may all worship me now.

don't know about other but I'd like to see the option of non-super powered travel powers

    [/ QUOTE ]

Actually, yes, others would like to see this. It gets suggested about once every couple of months, and discussed more frequently than that.

Your actual idea doesn't make sense, really. It's mixing up a load of other transport powers which are thematically massively different, and why would anyone use this to get Fly when they need to take two other powers from it to do so?

    [ QUOTE ]
There's also the misconception that setting your difficulty to "Invincible" is just... better. Pff to that, I say! It's all just a false economy. Fighting higher mobs just means slower XPPM, and a far higher ratio of deaths, which further slows XPPM due to debt...

    [/ QUOTE ]
if you got a high death rate either there a flaw in team setup or if it slow then you got a poor damage output

    [/ QUOTE ]

IIRC, this was about PuGs. PuGs are a team in a flaw.

    [ QUOTE ]
but the main thing is fun for me

    [/ QUOTE ]

And being dead isn't fun. Nor, really, is spending twenty minutes hacking away at some mob for little reward for the time spent.
  8. We are looking at a cloudy morning and some showers in the afternoon today, Paragon. However, with that high of 14C, at least you can go outside without arctic gear. Still, that wind could be chilly, so wrap up warm.

Tonight we're looking at cloudy with periods of rain, but a low of 6C, so still not too cold. That overnight rain could turn into some snow on Tuesday morning.
  9. A record of when it was last used can do that. No, it's supposed to be a money sink.
  10. Trusting other villains is *less* evil, however.
  11. [ QUOTE ]
I just don't want to waste slots.

    [/ QUOTE ]

You don't need to for it to be useful. It only needs any slotting if you want to move quickly, which is not even vaguely required to make it very useful if you don't want to spend a lot of time being hit.
  12. Probably isn't the servers. Probably a network issue. Probably won't affect the event tomorrow.
  13. [ QUOTE ]
On a more serious note, *why* is this still happening? The fact that a /sync command was needed in the first place should set off a few warnings...

    [/ QUOTE ]

I love these threads. Everyone's an expert. Everyone blames their pet peeves.

It's likely a transient network issue and nothing really to do with the latest patch, or the /sync thing.

    *sigh*
  14. I get the impression it's somehow network related, but a bit odd, to say the least.
  15. Seems to be something more drastic. Union's doing the same.
  16. [ QUOTE ]
A perfectly understandable mistake, I think.

    [/ QUOTE ]

Not really. Of course, that's my opinion. Particularly: if you are going to quote an incorrect definition as fact, it's a good idea to check a dictionary before doing so.

PS. It's wise to actually know who you are defending and the kinds of post they generally make before attempting a defence.
  17. [ QUOTE ]
if you are close or at max 2 meters from the ground, you should have a small speed bonus.

    [/ QUOTE ]

Why? What possible mechanic would explain this?

    [ QUOTE ]
but i barely use it so i don't know much about it.

    [/ QUOTE ]

Perhaps wise not to make suggestions about it then.
  18. Second page headline in the LA Post, 14th December 2008
    Boy Explodes in Busy Mall

Reports were filed yesterday of a teenager having exploded in a busy Mall in Downtown. Eye witnesses claimed that the boy ran from a clothing store screaming, shouted that everyone should get clear, and then 'exploded.'

Mariana trent, 25, said, "yeah, he was, like, totally glowing and screaming like he was in mondo agony. Then he started yelling that he was going to blow and I, like, ran. Got hit in the back by this mega shockwave. Guess he's toast."

Police found no remains of the unidentified by. Security cameras in the mall were blacked out prior to the incident and no footage of the boy was taken. Two people died and fifteen were treated for heat and radiation burns. The Mall is currently closed for what the FBSA are describing as 'decontamination' work.

This story also appears in Paragon City newspapers, though generally as smaller articles on page four or five.
  19. I guess. I know I used to look forward to the arc bonus when I was levlling Crow.

However, levelling Nitoichi recently, I did practically the entirety of levels 38-50 by spending a little time doing Borea's instances in the War Zone, and sped through the levels. Hence me saying the arc bonus isn't nearly as important (or 'exciting') as it used to be.
  20. [ QUOTE ]
and yes CoT robes like that was mentioned before

    [/ QUOTE ]

Unless they significantly change the body models, you will not see robes on player characters. I don't quite understand why people can't get this, to be honest.

I suspect the same is true of the RIkti armour, or some of it anyway, but at least they have all four limbs.

    [ QUOTE ]
Also the dress type things that Sybils wear in ITF

    [/ QUOTE ]

I'd love this, but it's another major model redesign.

    [ QUOTE ]
Few more costume sets Id prefer would be something like this.

    [/ QUOTE ]

Not actually very different from several of the existing designs.

    [ QUOTE ]
an extra hairstyles or details pack.

    [/ QUOTE ]

Now that could be a very interesting idea.

And I'm billing you for the psychiatrist I now have to go see.
  21. You can keep the wings, but the female chest detail in the middle pic might be a possibility.

Rest of it... hope the pack has something else in it too. (or I've developed a lot of cash by the release.)
  22. *shruggage* I always got the feeling that 'the story arc bonus' was the the XP/Inf/Enc 'package.' So if they replaced 'the bonus' then they replaced the whole package, but I'm not really sure. You could bug it and see what happens.

Honestly though, 2000xp these days is negligible.
  23. (( This is set a few months down the road in a one of those 'I'm not sure when' sort of times. Doesn't really matter when it is anyway. ))

Have Mercy ('cos I don't want it)

In Port Oakes, she was known as Nitenichi, which could be translated to 'Twin Heavens.' The first guy who suggested that this was a reference to her chest, which was substantial and encased in applique leather, had had an intimate encounter with the fists of the stunning blonde she lived with. After that, such comments were kept in private.

The blonde was known only as 'Luv,' because that was what Nitenichi called her. No one else called her that, not after Nitenichi had demonstrated what she could do with the two swords which were the real reason for her name. Everyone else called her 'Miss.'

Together, Ni and Luv shared a small house that Ni had bought in Port Oakes. Rumour had it that the house had the best security available, and that some of that security was fairly illegal on the mainland. Certainly, no one knew anyone who had broken in and lived to tell about it. Rumour also said that the basement had been heavily modified when they moved in, with a lot of heavy equipment being shipped in from various places.

There was another rumour that Ni and Luv were some big-shot heroes from Paragon City who liked to slum it now and again. The two women just looked at each other and smiled when asked about this. No one had yet proved willing to call them out on it, even if they had never been actually known to kill anyone. Well, there were rumours...

Right now, Ni was sitting with her boot heels on a table in The Hungry Dragon near their house. Luv was vaguely sprawled over her, playing absently with a strand of long, brunette hair, while Ni told stories to the crowd of locals and young metas who gathered there when the two were in town. Ni called it 'holding court.' What Luv called it, no one knew.

Ni took a sip from her glass of wine (white wine, only one person had ever dared to make a comment that it was a weak drink) and continued her tale.

"So, there was this guy name of Johansson, owned the smuggling traffic out of Mercy port. They called him Brickwall, on account of him being a big guy and being pretty tough. He was skimming twenty percent off the profits over there for... What was it he called it, love?"

Luv stirred, looking up. "Safe berthing," she purred, and went back to playing with Ni's hair.

"Oh yeah, 'safe berthing,' which meant he pushed the side of your boat in if you didn't pay." She took another sip of wine and grimaced. "Remind me again why we come to this pit, love?"

"It's closest," Luv replied, not even bothering to lift her head this time.

"Oh yeah. Anyway, the smugglers all got together and put together a bounty of fifty-thou, and they hired me an' Luv to make Brickwall disappear. A little 'asking around,'" she winked at one of the petty thugs and he grinned knowingly, "and we find out that Johansson holes up in this old house not far from the harbour. I checked the place over after, turns out the guy had been drinking tap water." There was a murmur of laughter from the assembled crowd. Everyone knew you did not drink the water on Mercy Island.

"So, anyway, Luv does her thing on the door," Ni said, and Luv chose that moment to sit up and stretch. The leather of her outfit creaked as her muscles swelled under it. Most of the men and a couple of the women in the audience watched her performance with some appreciation. "And in we went," Ni went on. "Brickwall was in his PJs. He was kind of annoyed we'd barged in unannounced and Luv had to explain to him in pretty forceful terms why he was going to listen to us."

She paused to take a drink of wine while various minds went over the image of the blonde smashing some big lunk into the floor. Several of them looked really quite excited about the thought. "When he woke up," Ni said, eliciting a laugh from her audience, "he was hanging off a boat gantry with a block of concrete attached to his feet. He wasn't pleased. He said some very rude things about Luv's mother. He said some rude things about mine too, but he was probably right about her. Anyway, Luv wanted to drop him in then and there, but I said there weren't enough sharks yet, and we were arguing over that little detail, and old Brickwall was starting to look a bit panicked."

Once again, she paused to take a drink, the audience watching her every move. "And suddenly he comes out with, 'have mercy!' Yeah, like, as if!" The audience collectively grinned. "But Luv looks at him and she says... What was it you said, love?"

Luv shifted in her seat as all eyes turned to her. "'God, you can keep it, it sucks,'" she said in a slow drawl. The audience burst into laughter while Luv leaned toward and whispered something into Ni's ear.

Ni's eyes widened slightly and she drained her wine glass. "Right, you lot are boring me, time to leave before I massacre the lot of you." She swung her long legs off the table and rose to her feet as if on rails. Luv pushed her own chair back and stood, less elegantly, but with the kind of coiled-spring power that suggested she could punch a hole right through you. The crowd parted to let them through and soon they were outside and alone.

"What did you do with Brickwall in the end, love?" Ni asked, absently. "I always stop there and let them assume we dropped him in the sea."

"He was wanted in five states," Luv replied. "He's doing five years in the Zig and I think it was New York had dibs on him next."

"Ah, right. So, dungeon or bedroom?"

"Street unless you get a shift on, babe," Luv grinned, and slapped Ni's fishnet covered behind. Ni giggled and started into a run, followed quickly by the blonde. They made it as far as the lounge.
  24. I thought the Arc bonus was replaced by Merits.
  25. It's quick to write down, but not so quick to implement. Lots of animation work.

Would be nice to have some form of 'raise weapon' emote, though there is the problem that many shield users have another weapon too.
