Also, the preferred bind for the CCE commands seems to be:-
eg: /bind H "emote none$$cce 0 cclightning"
[/ QUOTE ]
That's the only time you need the quote marks, when you're combining two commands into a single bind or macro. Otherwise you can do it with no quote marks.
[/ QUOTE ]
Quotation marks are also needed when there are spaces in the variable name, like:
/setchat "Global Channel"
[/ QUOTE ]
/ChatSet Jello Shooters worked fine without quotes here. /setchat, on the other hand, says Unknown command: setchat.
[/ QUOTE ]
As I recall, Chatset merely sets the default channel for the chat entry line.
Using /send however, to send to a specific channel, does require quotation marks if you have a channel with a name like Jello Shooters or Repeat Offenders -

But it's cleaner/better "grammar" to use the quotes always. That way you don't forget when you need them :P -

The instituted a word filter so they wouldnt have to crack down on things like that. if people deicde to tirn off the filter and then complain about use of certain words then its their own problem.
[/ QUOTE ]
There is also this. Obviously, the other person had turned off their filter so that they could see the swears. As such, just swearing is a little better than racial remarks, which might not be censored by the game's filter.
[/ QUOTE ]
Having it caught by the filter doesn't mean it's okay - especially as some of us turn the filter off for false-positives (I mean, come on! We have a developer who's name can't be posted without either a) censorship or b) trickery. And N8 Van **** is an awesome guy from what I see)
And as far as PvP goes - they tolerate smack talk, but smack and swearing are not necessarily the same thing. -

if I do the renderthread command as well
[/ QUOTE ] renderthread is enabled by default, and has been for quite some time. The command currently does nothing (unless for some reason you are using 0 to disable it)
[/ QUOTE ]
Is it?
I know it was for a while, but then I also know (for a while, at least) it was disabled due to issues with task-swapping and ATI cards crashing while it was enabled. -

A friend and I both bought the game a few days ago. We're trying to catch up to our other friend who is level 21. So far we're level 10 but it seems a bit slow. We have been doing the same exact missions together ever since we started, which is why I'm asking, is leveling with a friend slower than leveling solo?
[/ QUOTE ]
Now that you're level 10, you can Exemplar your level 21 friend. They won't get XP while exemplared, but they'll get double influence and prestige and you can all still play together. Then when the two of you hit level 20, you can drop the exemplar and all of you play and progress normally.
[/ QUOTE ]NOTE: An exemplar can exemplar down to any level, not just 10+. Sidekicking doesn't start until level 10. But a level 50 can exemplar down to a level 1.
[/ QUOTE ]
But to exemplar, you have to be at least level 10, as I recall :P -

Obviously, mommy and daddy never explained to you the concept of COMMUNITY and how people should look out for each other. Copyright Infringement hurts the GAME and the COMMUNITY.
[/ QUOTE ]
Even in the analog community there are citizens who disagree with a given law, whether they consider it unjust or for some other reason, and who do not support it or act cooperatively to enforce it.
They too are often exposed to the specious argument that breaking such a law harms the community, in an attempt to guilt trip them into compliance.
The bald statement that violations harm the community does not prove it (insofar as such a statement can be proven).
But go ahead and condescend to those who do not share your point of view, as it is a proven means of winning them over to your position.
[/ QUOTE ]
I'll gladly go ahead exactly as I was. I wasn't addressing everyone. I was addressing one individual who was being insulting toward anyone who would ever petition another player. I have no problem with anyone who decides for themself to petition or not. I have a problem with someone who starts calling other people narcs and tattletales because they're acting in a manner that they feel is responsible and appropriate.
Of course, it seems you left off the quote that I was responding to, and which I had included in my post. I guess a little selective quoting is a proven means of winning people over to your position.
[/ QUOTE ]
Yeah BB, in this case Ironblade was referring to the GAME COMMUNITY - which can suffer from this stuff. -

Thats perfectly fine if you elect to do it. I am just stating, I would not. Something that blatant as shown in the link will eventually get noticed by a GM.
[/ QUOTE ]
Not if nobody petitions it. They don't have the manpower to have GMs actively patrolling for violations as well as answering petitions.
[/ QUOTE ]
But Marvel has the manpower to put people in a small online game to look for copyright infringements??
[/ QUOTE ]
Marvel's collection of law interns is about a hundred times bigger than PS.

[ QUOTE ]
Marvel no more holds a copyright on the name Thor, Dracula, or Aries than I do.
[/ QUOTE ]
Of course not. No one can copyright a name.
However, Marvel does hold (and a few others as well, I think) a trademark for the use of the name Thor in the comic book/super-powered hero world. Which is different. But I would leave it alone unless they were copying a known thor (/friend them to see how far they get though :P) -

It's not a random string.
Pay attention to them, and realize what keys you use to move/execute powers

Or (at least most often for me) what the last few values you entered as bids at the market were.

That's my point. The characters that show up are keys you have recently pressed. I've even had :

Whoever said that Land of the Lost isn't a copyright infringement because its a name or words just shud up. So if i were to start a pizza joint called pizza hut BUT didn't server pan pizza, didn't have a red roof, didn't look like a hut then there is nothing that could be done, PLEASE!!
...
"Land of the Lost" is a trademark which mean that it cant be used unless permission is granted. Google was recently sued because the OS they use for their mobile phones is called Android which could have lead to confusion with the registered trademark Android Data.
[/ QUOTE ]
Someone should have told Sid & Marty Krofft that they couldn't use "Land of the Lost"
Use of that title goes back as far as 1944.
But please, don't let facts get in the way of your uninformed rant.
[/ QUOTE ]
Not to mention any lawsuit about copyright infringement over "Land of the Lost" would be thrown out and the person bringing the case might get slapped with a fine for frivolous lawsuit. Copyright can only apply to an "entire work" and the neighborhood in this game is nothing like the Tv show or movie.
Trademark? You would have to prove how it might dillute their branding - and this is a super-hero game, not a sci-fi show. -
[ QUOTE ]
The settlement in that case pointed out that Cryptic and NCSoft (now just NCSoft) needed to take action against copyrighted characters.
[/ QUOTE ]
Incorrect, we have no idea what that settlement said.
However, during the discovery portion of the lawsuit, it was pointed out that NCSoft did take action when infringements were found, and that they did ask if anyone sees one, petition it. -

Ghost Falcon:
I'm going to suggest you put all chat-related bugs into the *critical* category.
Why?
Because chat-related bugs are the single most visble category of bugs in the game. EVERYONE sees them. EVERYONE deals with them.
Seeing your most basic social interface bugged, in an established MMORPG, presents a very unpolished and unprofessional product.
I strongly urge you to put all reported chat interface bugs on the "critical - do not release until fixed" list.

The description should list what position it is, as I recall. Not sure if the Tank Detailed info lists it correctly due to taunt.
Fearsome Stare, I think, is merely negative energy.
[ QUOTE ]
Situation: Assume the only defense bonus I have is 25% ranged (I know this doesn't really happen). A ranged psionic attack is used against me.
What I think happens: The game engine notes that the attack has "psionic" and "ranged" types. It then compares my psionic defense (0%) to my ranged defense (25%) and decides to make the calculation to hit with the 25% defense modifier.
[/ QUOTE ]
It would be the same if your psi defense was anywhere from 0-25% - still a 25% defense mod. But if you had 30 psi vs. 25 ranged, then it would be the 30, yes.
Just to clarify it fully.
But as was noted, a lot of Mind control is non-posistional - but I'm pretty sure most psi attacks are. -

Very first episode, he literally kidnaps his granddaughter's human teachers after they manage to get into the Tardis. Openly admits that he doesn't like humans or that time period but "tolerates them".He was a stuck-up bastage.

Trust me, kidnapping is nothing compared to the 10th getting pissed off. -

NPC: "Hey *fire blaster name*! What's the deal with the blue fire?"

That's a reaction to the arc that get's you Stephine Pebble's wedding ring - which when you use it covers you in blue fire.
