  1. So the number of hours I've thought about playing Co* is used to determine which veteran rewards I'm getting, right?

I'm still amazed at how many people still seem to have trouble understand that the rewards are based on the number of times you have taken a bath or a shower while logged in with your character inside a mission so you won't get auto-logged.

  2. Simply awesome. Well done.

And I never knew office equipment took extra damage from Psy. How odd.

For one, I'm curious as to why Weave was not taken. I've noticed it left out of quite a few builds lately - has it been nerfed recently?

    [/ QUOTE ]
It provides only around twice the defense of Combat Jumping for something like 6 times the cost. Fully slotted, you get about 6% defense. Not bad for a defense based character, but it won't help very much for a resist based character. At least, not enough for most folks to get it, given the end cost. Check out BuffyASummers guide to scrapper secondaries for more information.

  6. Great info. I had an unsatisfying MA/rgn build that I used the I7 freespec to fix. I had taken CAK without testing it first. It may be a great power, but I don't PvP and the animation annoys me. I read this guide, copied to test, and rebuilt with TK, SK, CK and Air Sup as my attacks at level 20. I'm having a lot more fun and no longer mind playing this guy. Before, I played him because I kept thinking that maybe my next power selection level or getting to SOs would make him fun. I may pick up CAK at a higher level, but I'm more likely to select Cobra Strike. I'll have to test at a higher level to decide, but I like my MA more as a controller than as a blapper. Anyway, thanks for the details - this really helped me plan a test build and end up with a character I enjoy now, even before getting SOs.

This is funny read all of it.

    You lied to me.

Were it not for this post, I would have wasted my time reading this whole thread. Sadly, I believed the OP when he said this is funny. Happily, OneKnight made me laugh.

I am finding that aggro is very odd now in I7 as well. Let me post a non-hamidon experience to illustrate this:

A couple of days ago, my SG had a fake nemesis hunt in Peregrine Island. We had a couple of high level characters killing the fake nemesis, and also had several low-mid level characters with invisibility powers scouting them out. I was playing a level 14 illusion controller. I had superior invisibility on the entire time.

The plan was that I would go and find fake nemesis, and then the tank on our team would come and beat them down. In reality, I found that even though I did not attack, I was fairly often attacked by the minions around the FN as soon as the tank got anywhere near them. It was very odd. So here would be the scenario:

    I find a Fake Nemesis.
Tank with invincibility running attacks FN.
Minions around the FN turn and attack me.

This was odd for a couple of reasons. First, the tank should not have been able to lose aggro with an auto-taunting aura up. Second, I was invisible and did not attack. How could the minions even see me? Third, I was outside of melee range and not standing next to the tank. My invis should not have been supressed by anything. Something is very odd here.

    [/ QUOTE ]
This has the ring of an aggro problem from way back which controllers saw with pets (I believe in particular, this happened with Phantom Army) - controller would drop pets from outside enemy aggro range -- enemies turn and attack controller until hit by pets -- lots of controllers died -- ??? -- profit!!!

Not sure about those last two parts, though, to be honest.

Great, great, wonderful, great information. Adding to my favorites. Now I have a new thread to point people to when they ask about Acc/Def and what's changed in I7.

Yeah, I'm not able to get there either. Getting a connection refused message too

Likewise. Still can't get there. Kicking myself for not using HTTrack to download the whole site a couple weeks back. I miss my all-knowing resource.

EFFECTS: 35' Stealth radius to critters (this will suppress for 10 seconds if you interact with a clickable object or initiate an attack or are attacked); 389' Stealth radius to players (this will suppress for 10 seconds if you interact with a clickable object or initiate an attack or are attacked); 2.5% Defense; 2.5% Defense (this will suppress for 10 seconds if you interact with a
clickable object or initiate an attack or are attacked); 35% decrease to movement speed.

    [/ QUOTE ]
Actually, those are all the effects listed consecutively. The power has a 35' stealth radius to critters. The power has a 389' stealth radius to players. The power has a 2.5% defense effect. The power has a 2.5% defense effect that suppresses for 10 seconds if you interact with a clickie, initiate an attack, or are attacked. The power has a 35% decrease to movement.

The semicolons seperate distinct effects. That means there is a 2.5% defense always while the power is on, and a 2.5% defense that is on except in the specific instances which are listed as causing suppression. Rewriting them as I have above is the same, but more verbose. The guide has written it in shorter form to reduce the amount of space necessary to detail the power. It's not written well (meaning clearly), but this has been explained somewhere, somehow by a dev after suppression came out for stealth.

  14. So, we're getting a giant tape worm, and the BRB may happen some day? Cool. But please, put BRB on the "useless features the community wants" list so that at least it is never forgotten. Can you at least promise you'll keep it in mind for possible future inclusion? Please? Just keep it in mind...

    I want big red balls!!!

  15. Thanks for the write-up. Just got an ice/EM tank going. So far, he's lots of fun, but I'm only L6. The info in your guide has been great for helping me think through power selection as I level.

    RagManX
  16. I always take hurdle by level 8. It's a faster speed-up than swift, if you don't mind bunny-hopping everywhere. If I'm not going to take teleport for my travel power, I take combat jumping at the next power choice after getting hurdle. I've been doing this almost since I started playing CoH. It's pretty amazing how much faster you go with these two powers, and how much easier it is to put off your real travel power until some time after level 14. I've waited as late as level 26 to take a travel power on characters that have hurdle and combat jumping.

  17. Good info, S_F. I agree - don't change SM. It's not hard to get 2 lined up in about one sec:

CTRL-Tab, Tab, F, F and then shift a little left or right.

That targets the nearest enemy, then the next closest, turns toward the target and then stops moving (F to follow very quickly followed by F to stop following) to get basically lined up, then just step a little left or right if needed to make sure the near enemy is between you and the target. Assuming 2 enemies are both within range of SM and fairly close together (which is the norm in most solo missions I run and almost always possible in teamed missions), I routinely get 2, and often enough get 3 or 4 enemies. Please don't rebalance this power to take in to account the efficiency some folks have with that little cone. SM as it works now is what makes me love all my DM/ scrappers, and what especially makes my DM/Rgn such a fast soloer for me.

Sweeeeeet. Now, would it be horrible for me to use HTTrack to download it all? I don't think I could stand to be without it again. I had to depend on googles cache to find out what contacts I wanted to hit for my 25-35 badge and temp power works on my D/D scrapper.

You missed one thing: Debt as a lesson in market economics.

The whoop-ti-do medical teleport system in use in Paragon City isn't cheap. Someone has to pay for it. And who better than the people who use it?

When you lose a fight, the Paragon CIty hospitals provide a service. They teleport you away and heal you. If a teammate rezzes you, that teammate is providing a service. Debt is how you pay for that service.

Of course, the analogy falls down on one point; if a teammate rezzes you, your debt isn't paid to the teammate. But then, few analogies are perfect.

    [/ QUOTE ]
I still blame the hospital for that debt - when you die, they create a link to you allowing you to hit the hospital if you want. That link creation is what costs XP, not the actual use of the link. Furthermore, links are costly to set up, and time consuming to tear down. After you rez, the link stays in place for a while, so it doesn't cost more to use it if necessary shortly after you first rez. Shoot, the hospital even sets up a link to you when you are in a prison map, it's just the bad guys interrupt and re-direct the link. So the thing is, you get charged for the link, even though using it puts you in a worse spot than what you started with usually.

  21. Very nice guide. I've been trying to find a corruptor build I like for non-SG play. This could be the one that catches my fancy. Now I'll have to start yet another all (YAA) and try it out. Thank heavens for 2 accounts.

    Dark Armor drone

I've had issues with slight hearing loss since college. I guess /DA is one of the few times where that is a good thing, because I almost never even hear the armor. For those that are bothered by it, I hope it gets fixed for you.
