So, freed up another 7.5GB's of HDD space, installed SP3 as well a bunch of other updates for Windows, adjusted my pagefile size to a max of 500MBs and tweaked a bunch more settings with Windows to lower its use of available resources. Also dropped my settings for CoX down another notch. Still no luck it seems. The game just crashed again after running for about 45 minutes and prior to that it froze during a cut scene on the second to last mission of the Conference of Evil arc redside.
If anyone else has any suggestions, I'm open to just about anything short of tossing the tower out my third floor window, lol.
EDIT: For the record, the memory leak in the game seems to have gotten orders of magnitude worse than it was with my old system. At the time of the last crash the game was using 1.81GB's of RAM, which is pretty bad if you ask me, considering how long the game had been running. -
I've had the same thing. It didn't start until recently for me, but it does it on all of my toons that have any set bonuses that normally would be stacked. It didn't settle down even for a moment on either of my mains (which have the largest number of set bonuses) making it pretty much impossible to read or click anything, even after leaving the window open for several minutes. Even static things like amount of Inf is moving so much and so quickly that it is impossible to read it.

Yeah, the HDD is a possible problem. Sadly, the only drive I've got free to use at the moment is that 40GB. I can free up a couple more GB's, but not much more. Aside from Windows and CoX there isn't much installed on this system since when payday rolls around I'll be picking up the new HDD's for it. I'll clear out what I can, but it won't be much, heh.
As for SP3, I didn't have SP3 prior to this either and never ran into a problem. But, with the newer hardware now it may have become an issue that I should look into. -
Okay, I did a little poking around the last month or so worth of threads plus stickies but didn't find anything similar to my problem. If my search-fu is simply weak, my apologies and I'll gladly take directions to the appropriate thread.
And now for my problem. I just put together a new system (it was high time as my old one was over 7 years old, heh) with the exception of a new HDD since I ran out of cash for the time being. I can run CoX great on near-max settings but after about 45-60mins the game will crash out of the blue with a Windows error stating "City of Heroes has encountered a problem and will be closed" along with the usual "Send/Don't Send" options. Microsoft has no solutions when following through on the "Send" option so now I'm coming here. I've run CoH Helper and I'll post the data here:

Now, I know about the ATI driver issues, but from what I understand, so long as I've installed the latest Cat 10.4 drivers (May 3rd) I should be fine in that regard. If anyone can offer any suggestions, I'd be very appreciative. Oh, and small note, I have no trouble with any other games at all. I can play them all i want for hours and never have a crash. It seems to only happen with CoX. Thanks in advance.
EDIT: I notice it doesn't show my actual GPU model and just the family. I'm running a Sapphire Radeon 5750 HD 1GB. -
Quote:Sorry to spoil your fun Forbin, hehe. And you know that he's still going to complain more than likely when GR goes live and he finds there's not a level cap bump so all isn't lost yet.You guys are a bunch of spoilsports. I was looking forward to watching Lonely's howls of frustrated anguish when GR goes live and he discovered they didn't raise the level cap like he's convinced himself is gonna happen.

Quote:I too have had what seems to be way to many temp powers drop. I usually do one run around the wall in Cimerora with my Brute per day for drops and Prestige, and I keep running until my recipe sack is full. One run has generated as many as 12 temp power recipes (full sack for him is 29), which to me is stupid. When almost half my recipe drops are temp powers over the course of 30-45 minutes I'm inclined to believe that the drop rate is TOO high on them.
I've had so many drop I've destroyed more than I've saved. Probably about 16 over the weekend... -
Quote:I've sort of given up explaining to teams that if they want a heal or endurance from my Kin that they need to be in melee range of something. At most now, at the start of a TF or just general missions with a team I'll tell the team that if they want heals or endurance to target through me and stand near my target. If they ignore that or can't be bothered, its their own fault, hehe.
If I'm playing a Kin, I tell everyone that my heals and end-replenish are melee range, so stay in melee, and that I fulcrum shift from melee, so if they want to be uber, stay in melee, goddamnit.
On topic, if all else fails you could always create a series of macros and put them in their own power tray. One for each part of what you're looking to create so you can just click them like any other power instead of having to type them in. It may be silly to do it that way, but that's what I've got on my Pain Dom for World of Pain. -
Quote:Firstly, the fact that you're gaming with a mobile card can affect your ability to utilize Ultra Mode to its fullest. Not a single mobile GPU can compare to a decent desktop GPU. Secondly, no, its not "state of the art". While your laptop is half-decent, its not a high-end gaming laptop, nor is it the newest. Lastly, keep in mind that computer technology works in such a way that anything you buy is technically obsolete months before it hits the shelf due to there always being something better coming along behind it in short order.
i playing on XPS dell customised lapbook . that has 9700M gtx inside . so one of the first XPS runs released in europe .
So basically how old is it ?
So it isn“t state of the art anymore after how many years ?
And as a side note, to satisfy my curiosity. You're from Europe so English is obviously a second (or even third or fourth) language for you. What is your native language? And from the formatting of your posts I'm somewhat inclined to think that you're using an online translation site to create your posts. Is that true? Nothing against it, just curious. -
Quote:How about 8" floppies, hehe. They never really caught on, but I've had a couple of computers with them. And betamax is still around, just not in North America where it lost the home video war to VHS. In Europe though, VHS lost out to it and was big there until DVD's.
I've also experienced the death of 8-track tapes, audio cassettes, 5.25" floppies, betamax video, and now 3.25" floppies (whose birth I also saw).

Quote:And you can speculate until the sun goes cold, but provided the devs (and Posi in particular since the Incarnate system is his baby) aren't lying to us in an effort to keep the lid on how the Incarnate system will actually work, there will be no raising of the level cap.
Well my speculation is on 10 more levels or atleast 5 , so we all enter the level race again .
the rest is up to them to decide what they want to do .
I think you may need to take a look at Wiki to find out what Incarnate means in this game. Recluse and Statesman are of the Incarnate class (and Reichsman as well I believe, but not sure), due to having drunk from the Well of the Furies. What the Incarnate system is supposed to do is give 50's the ability to actually feel like they are as powerful as those two (or more powerful even). It will likely take the form of something like extra slots for powers, special IO's only available to Incarnate toons or something of the like (in my opinion).
As a side note, why would the Incarnate system be called an "endgame" system if it was just a level cap raise? Not to mention, why would they assign such a name to a level cap raise? -
Quote:Rogue isn't raising the level cap and we're only getting one "level" of the Incarnate system with it. The other 9 "levels" will come with i19. And even those "levels" aren't really levels from what I understand.
Thats new for this GR , we get finally a level cap raising , so its not the end finally . -

Still farming that negative rep are you graystar? If you think this game is so terrible why are you still here? Take your negative attitude and kindly show yourself out. Don't let the door hit you on the way out.

Are you sure that's love? Pepsi may have gas....

it appear that a hamster in a little bicycle its powering my graphics.
Was it small and red? If so, I think I'm going to have to have a chat with my Fire/Kin, Little Red Hamster, about getting into other people's computers and spamming Siphon Speed.... -
Nah, I wouldn't say that's a problem Jack. Now if it was a Texas Mickey or two then I might think there's a problem, hehe.

Quote:Multiple Day Jobs in one spot isn't game breaking though, so it wouldn't meet the criteria for Bug Hunter. At most you might get a thank you for reporting it. Even some easily abused ones like the [formerly] farmable Safeguard exploit I found ages ago on Live didn't qualify, so its got to be pretty big to have a shot at getting that Holy Grail of badges, heh.QR
If your friend has found a location where he believes there are multiple Day Jobs awarding, he should file a /bug report and then keep quiet if he's looking to get Bug Hunter. You're unlikely to get Bug Hunter by telling everyone about the bug, and asking the devs to give it to you will make them not want to
You are right though that the general consensus with getting the badge is to report it and not say a word about Bug Hunter and don't spread word of what you've found around prior to it being fixed, if at all.
EDIT: Yay 500, hehe -
No problem, heh. There are still some free emotes that you can use at least. Just didn't want to see you wondering if some like the lightning one were broken or so when their slash command didn't work for you.
-
Quote:Well that clears things up, lol. I figured it was random but wasn't sure if there was actually some more convoluted mechanic at work.It multiplies the square root of the distance between the centerpoints of each DayJob area, then adds the number of hours that toon has ever been online, then subtracts how long you've been offline at that location and divides by your distance from each one, then picks whichever one it wants. lol
-
That's how they've been working in my experience. Take Bloody Bay for example. When you come out of the Black Helicopter you will see two Day Job dots (one for Predator, one for Pilot), yet you will only get progress on one of them at a time. How the game decides which to count any given time that you log off though I don't know.
-
Keep in mind too that to use the majority of the costume change emotes you have to have the booster packs that grant them. There are several basic emotes that everyone gets no matter what, plus you can buy one using Vanguard Merits, but the rest are from booster packs.

Quote:Heh, sometimes that's good advice. In my experience though, many of the disparaging remarks made about Freedom have some truth to themTake what people say about servers other than thier own with a grain of salt.
Quote:Guardian is well known for inviting folks to partake in (virtual) cookies. -
Might be related to the bug that was causing green mitos and Reichsman to be unkillable. If you haven't already, I'd say /bug it. I'll run the arc after I get back and see if I can reproduce your problem.
-
I've never run into that, but I made my email window larger than default a long time ago (resized the window just as you would any other) so I wouldn't have noticed the claim button being hard to get at.

Quote:Very much so. And even repeatedly stacked Taunt doesn't work to bring them back before they've had their little run around the block, more often than not. And then there's Rommy and his regular insistence that he go and check the front door of his castle when someone tries to pull him, whether its with a taunt power or an attack of some sort. Heck, look at him funny when you get within aggro range and he figures its time to see if the pizza guy is at the door. Highly aggravating when you're trying to beat the clock.
This is a damnedly stupid effect to which to subject Archvillains/Heroes and Giant Monsters!
