If this is the best argument you’ve seen, then you haven’t been paying attention. “It doesn’t really matter” is actually such a lame position that holding it up and talking about it borders on the use of a straw man argument.

I and several others have presented much better:

    (1) CUSTOMER SERVICE
A large number of people do want this badge on their pre-i2 characters. Allowing us to get this badge will make us happy. Happy customers are loyal customers and more likely to remain customers in the future. The quick growth of threads like this one shows that there is a large demand for the badge.

    [/ QUOTE ]

You had that chance, all you had to do was reroll at I2, but you and others like you choose NOT to, and now you want your reward.

    [/ QUOTE ]

I have been following this thread from the beginning and have read every post. It amazes me that this particular argument against implementing isolator post-tutorial keeps popping up.

This in no way addresses the issue at all.

The biggest issue here is that pre issue 2 characters cannot get isolator.

You keep stating that we CHOSE not to roll characters after I2 to get the badge. Guess what? I have made many characters after issue 2. Many of those characters have the badge, some do not. I CHOSE not to bother with some.

The issue is not about denying me the badge, it's about denying my character/s the badge. How does rolling/re rolling any character after issue 2 address the fact that those characters made before issue 2, cannot and will not ever get this badge?

This argument is just as, if not more so, an unreasonable suggestion as asking players who want the V.I.P. badge to shell out another 50 bucks for the Special DvD Edition of CoH and add the code to thier pre-existing account. Players complained about this as well. It was a new badge, created for new players, that they could not get unless they wanted to do something, many felt, was completely unacceptable.

The developers listened to the players then, and an acceptable compromise was introduced. The CoH Hero Gear kit was made available a few months later at a much more reasonable price.

Why all you over-OCD, completest folks get so bent about that one silly badge is beyond me. You'd think it would show your characters vintage by every bage BUT the Isolator. I know if I had every badge but that one, it would feel a bit like a badge of Honor to have had a Hero around that long. I wasn't here before that badge so I don't have the distinction of not having access to it. Let it go.

Sure you do! Reroll your toon. And don't kill 100 contaminated. Badge removed. Problem solved.

    Badge Questions

    [ QUOTE ]
    So Positron,

Any chance we can change your mind concerning Influence/Infamy progress bar?

Here is how I see it currently:

    1) Will there be any consideration for lowering the requirements for the last 2 Influence/Infamy Badges with the onset of prestige? I'm fairly certain that the 5th badge is 1 billion and I'm guessing the 6th is 2 billion. The average player might earn around 1 million an hour at level 50 and approximately 40 million on their way to 50. That leaves a difference of 960 million. If you were to play 2 hours every day, you would have to play your 50 for an additional 480 days not in SG mode to earn the 5th badge. Is there a possibility of say cutting these last two required amounts in half? No SG would have you if you told them that "hey, sorry working on a badge for the next 480 days, and will not be earning prestige for the group." This is compounded for new players just starting since you start seeing a drop off of influence/infamy at 24 and no influence/infamy at 34, if in SGmode.

    2) There are no progress bars for the influence/infamy badges. Doc Buzzsaw is unlocked via the 1st infamy badge which is very tough to attain prior to level 30. If you don't get the badge by 30 you miss out on content. My suggestion is either change the requirement to unlock Doc Buzzsaw or give the influence/infamy badges a meter.

    [/ QUOTE ]

I would prefer that the badge requirements were changed so that prestige and influence both count towards completing them.

Didn't get the Calvin Scott TF badge in time? I don't blame you, I didn't even KNOW that it was going to be available for a limited time. That's the kind of thing that frustrates me as a badge collector and makes me say to myself "Well if I can't get that one... what's the point in trying to get any of the others?"

    [/ QUOTE ]

Just for the record, I did the Calvin Scott TF. There was no badge. There was no souvenir. There was nothing.

    Ah... Goodie.

Alright, The gunner badge. Is it still bugged? I know, someone has comfirmed it over on pinnacle, but, they said they had done over 300 firebases to get the badge. That seems to be quite alot of firebases and would take quite a long time.

Is there, perhaps, a trick of sort involved? The badge description does kinda imply that you need to only take over 1 firebase... but 300? Bit rediculous.

Gunner badge is bugged. It shouldn't be awarding at all AFAIK.

I will post here when it is fixed.

    [/ QUOTE ]

Its fixed. Processing your ore will earn you the Gunner badge. Expect this in the next full patch to the Training Room server (basically sometime after Pocket D goes to Live).

    [/ QUOTE ]
whoops. my last post was meant to quote this.
I just tried this on the test server. Still appears bugged.

I hope you're wrong about that. The promise of an out of combat system is what's been keeping me around. Not sure I want to wait till next year for that.

    [/ QUOTE ]

Pitho is correct the SSOCS is the Super Secret Out of Combat System that Statesman has been very careful not to leak any information on.

The only things we can be relatively sure on is that it will allow a way to gain exprience outside of combat. It will invove some detective work and that it has also been refered to as the "mind of a hero"
  8. I have this bug on the live server. Its an Orenbega map in the Envoy of Shadow story arc. I have tried to complete it 7 times over the past 3 days. I have petitioned a few tiems hoping that I might actually get a response. YEsterday I got a response from a GM. He asked if my issue had been resolved. I replied that No. it had not. HIs response to me was .. and I quote "ok- have a nice day"
I sent a couple more tells to him asking what he needed me to do. These went unanswered. I sent another tell.. "hello?" I got the message GMname does not exist or is not online at this time.

This was after waiting 4 and a half hours. I sent another petition following this... 5 hours later the server goes down.

*edit* I will also add that I tried the mission again when the server came up. It was not fixed. So your theory about the mission fixing when the server goes down is not true.
  9. I would like to know if there are still plans to implement the reverse side kick feature to allow you to go back and do outleveled task forces. I sat out out on the first couple because for a period after launch task forces were "broken" and we were being told not to do them.
