Your title had me thinking the cops were onto my little indiscretions.

This is why they don't call them 'laptops' anymore. The temperature will make sure that the beans stop workin' on the boys if they keep a notebook on their laps.
I don't have a notebook, but google told me these pages are ranked highly >.>

The original quoted article is in French so I'm not sure how in-depth or rigorous the numbers are, but this article has some interesting anecdotal numbers:

Some nuggets:
Quote:Original article here (en francais):If you're looking for an ultrareliable power supply purchase, the Thermaltake EVO Blue 550W had zero returns...
In the top spots for individual memory product returns are a staggering 15.08 percent failure rate for the Corsair...

Anyone feel like cobbling together a double ship raid?
Dress code: Everyone should have a holiday outfit and a HVAS just to make things interesting.
Tomorrow evening ok?
If we can fill the zone with 50 tinsel covered supers and 50 HVAS I could imagine that we could defeat the Rikti faster than they could spawn.
PS. Having a few kinetics would be nice to keep the HVAS herd moving along without getting jumped by stray Rikti.
PPS. If someone feels like bookending this with a CoP and/or Hami that would be pretty fun too. -
I have always tamed my altaholism because I knew that it would eventually become this huge matrix of unsustainable spreadsheets and a grind that would drive me batty.
I am enjoying i19 just fine thanks. -
Quote:Sandy Bridge (the upcoming Intel processors) will be even more aggressive in Turbo Boost overclocking so improved cooling may provide more benefit over stock coolers.Well I had an aftermarket cooler as part of the high price rig since the very beginning, back when it was a Core 2 E8400 dual core processor. Heat is always the enemy of silicon so it seemed logical to spend some small amount on a better cooler, since the stock Intel one was rather poor and loud. However now with the Core i5/i7 series of processors, there may be a concrete reason to use one regardless.
This series has a feature called Turbo Boost, essentially self overclocking based on a number of conditions. Now according to Intel, one of the factors looked at to determine if it's okay to overclock and by how much is processor temperature. In the case of the 2.8GHz Core i5-760, it can self overclock to 2.93GHz with 3 or 4 cores active, to 3.33GHz with 2 cores active or to 3.46GHz with a single core active.
Now while the tiny stock cooler from Intel may be sufficient for an office based PC, a gaming system with a discrete graphics card dumping a hundred or more watts of heat into the case, just below the CPU, may just end up hindering the effectiveness of this feature with a stock cooler. So it seems to me that using an aftermarket cooler that can lower the processor temperature by 20-30 degrees Celsius over the stock cooler can only improve the odds that Turbo Boost will reach it's maximum.
Seems like a good use of $40 for decent aftermarket CPU cooler and a tube of Arctic Silver 5.

Quote:Interesting strategy. The veteran Assemble the Team teleport power could be handy, but really wouldn't work with the way that I run Rikti mothership raids, imo. Once the mothership's shield goes boom, everyone is supposed to head directly for the mothership's bowl, with the exception of one or two designated members of each team, who locate an unused grate and place a bomb. The team bombers would have to be sure to have the team teleport prompt on, and even then that'd be something extra for them to click while trying to place a bomb.

Statesman's Task Force (STF), the 3rd mission to clear out the vines does not show the counter. It only shows that the AV must be defeated. The mechanic to defeat the AV (tree) still requires the vines to be cleared first, but never shows a vine count.
-
While the OPs post might have been tongue-in-cheek, using vet tp during a ship raid is quite worthwhile to get everyone in the bowl near the same time.
This allows everyone who might be straggling to get into a nicely compact defensive area to pull a whole lot more rikti into a kill spot. Having everyone show up at the same time also helps secure the bowl if the center mobs are filled with magi.
Team teleport would be effective in that circumstance during ship raids. -
I miss the old forums. They didn't log me out spontaneously.

Just a FYI that someone from Champion won on a level 6 toon, so I don't think it was a disadvantage to having someone from another server come over to Justice.
The prizes given out to the contestants were 5 LotG +7.5% 25, 5 of the same at 35, 1 PvP IO.
http://wiki.cohtitan.com/wiki/Shield...on,_%2BRes(All)
Also 1B was won by the no show category as a consolation prize to people who made a design but their wearer did not show up.
Thanks to everyone who made the time to come out and have some fun. -
I gave away a 52 Membrane exposure yesterday on Justice...

Are you just saying that because you don't think it would work, or are you saying they finally fixed the bug in which it was known to happen?

Quote:I'd agree that the theory to fix the stuck mobs sounds quite simple but let's face it, it's been 6 years of this going on 7. Time to find a decent work around and then they can do the proper fix when they have time. That's a rather creative solution. Personally I think they should just fix the AI and/or collision detection. The error conditions seems to occur:
1. When foes take Knockback and are pushed into corners and tight spaces. The collision detection doesn't recognize or work with animations, so a foe who stands up in a tight space might stand up in a object or wall.
2. When #1 happens the foe's feet are attached to a surface inside some geometry, but his head or body are in a space that can't be pathed to from that surface. Thus, he's stuck because he can't get his body to go anywhere his feet can go. It seems to me that the AI pathing should be able to recognize this situation and provide a little help when pathing becomes impossible. -
-
Obviously they've tried to fix this over 19 issues but it still occurs.
I think they should grant a tp foe temp power to mission leaders that will only work when there are less than 5 foes left on a map, with auto hit and a 30 min cool down timer. -

Quote:+1. I heard Master of... badges were 'relaxed' because of all the whinging on beta for the new TFs.This is what happens when people who can't play the game get their way.
The devs are way too soft to the people who cry that something is actually 'hard' to do. -
Quote:The KB/KD mechanic is so broken because of this. Ice slick is really only useful getting to 50, after that, its utility is really curtailed by KD/KB resistant mobs like the Cims and AVs and GMs.My only concern with the changes is that if Ice Slick took KB enhancements, it'd become Knockback instead of Knockdown. They'd have to lower the KB magnitude to avoid that (it's 0.5 now, vs say 0.1 of Freezing Rain), but that could mean HAVING to enhance Knockback to make it work on some enemies. Of course they could work around that. Give it a 0.25 enhancable effect, and a 0.25 unenhancable effect. That way it starts at the same base, but doesn't turn into knockback unless they're a lower level than you and super enhanced.
I'd prefer a 5% chance of spontaneous knockdown (unresistable) in 1 second ticks, 25% chance while trying to move (resistable) and 50% chance after attacking (resistable) and/or -25% to hit debuff (unresistable), but that's just me dreaming. And of course the slow. -
-
I agree with this to some extent, but if you make ice more damaging it takes away some of the flavour of the game...kind of like powerset proliferation, it makes everyone more similar instead of different. I know this is a minority opinion, but I love my ice/storm for all the AoEs and debuffs.
I would really like the arrow to go the other direction and have ice as the uber controller. Having slows take bad guys down to the 25% cap isn't enough, it would be great to have it even lower to make AVs and really tough baddies actually be affected by the debuffs (more unresistable mez components) that Icers can bring rather than just a damage buff from low to meh.
If I want damage I'll bring a fire/kin. Too bad a single siphon speed as a runspeed debuff slows down most AVs more than stacking ice/storm slows.
Arctic Hog should also have the end costs looked as well as recharge, but the bigger problem is that Jack has a glass jaw. His aggro slow aura tends to get him killed so fast in any end game that I rarely cast him unless I am solo/duo. If he was tough like poo man I'd have fewer complaints, but he melts faster than an ice cube in the Texas sun.
