Sounds about right, and what was expected. i7 was the same for COV, yes?
  2. So we're getting a total of THREE task forces this issue @_@

Well, I think there's enough story odds and ends out there that they can do things without tying it in.

That being said? Why isn't the medicom system used with civvies? Be useful if an area has to be evacuated, right? And is Leviathan (whatever that is) a potential military target?

Not at all. Its more content (good), deepens the game's story (good) and should be soloable versus requiring a group (good).

I remember some old anime/manga explained hair functionally as a heat-sink or something - a way to help expel heat. And, as mentioned, it could always be an aesthetic design choice.
  6. Best wishes for the laid off staff! Been laid off twice myself, so I know the feeling.

That being said - the current staff is how many times larger than before NCSoft bought out Cryptic's share? Certainly, for myself, I've never seen the game this busy on a regular basis (anecdotal cat is anecdotal), and we've received server upgrades since I started (so a "yellow" today isn't the same as a "yellow" back in 2005).

Here's to the health of the game!

I think $3.99 or $4.99 would be better for me. Now, 20 emotes for $7.99? That sounds grossly underpriced to me.
  8. While I'm sure it takes as much time/effort to make all these emotes as it does costume pieces, and I'm sure there are people saying they want more emotes in booster packs, I will have to say that the perceived value of the pack and the price don't line up. It might be a lesson for future boosters - we'll see how the sales go.

Personally, I would prefer a mix of emotes, costume change emotes and costume pieces. Temp powers are nice, but hardly essential. Also, the perceived value from the previous boosters makes this look a bit expensive

Undecided if I'll get this or not. Guess I'll need to see it in action.
  9. Its in a little feature called "In Pictures: 20 MMORPG Realms You Should Explore"
    http://www.tomshardware.com/pictures...-warcraft.html

The info provided could be better, but its the #2 slide and overall it certainly stands out from the rest of the fantasy games shown (which is majority of them). Its obviously not an ad because, well, it'd be a lousy ad

So: Just for fun - how would you re-write the description at Toms? You've got to do it in 200-words or less

It's why I run into such a drastic framerate drop in praetoria, every texture there is huge compared to PC and RI.
That is a good point. I wonder; could the textures be set to use the old one on low settings, and the new ones on high settings?
  11. Could the new pieces have the same name but use HD or something similar after the name?

    Pattern 1 HD
    Padded Armor HD
    Fury HD
    etc?

Bottom line, avoiding menu work is preferable and brings us back to Options 1 and 2.
Gotcha. Thank you for sharing that! I do wonder if the current tech team ever wants to go after the old tech team with a whiffle bat...

I think the point is that the its easier to ignore what something "is" with lessened details. The more the art team fills in the blanks (so to speak), the harder it is to hand-wave away what is versus "this is the best I could improvise."

Hrm... I might have to rethink my position on #1, then. Granted, I'm not trying to do anything like Ayradyss, but I'm sure others are. That being said I'd really like to see the costume creator go through another revision. We've got so many options its gotten pretty ARG! to navigate at times. I think I'd rather see one more drop box for items with multiple options rather than make the main lists even longer (so the options would be - high detail, legacy or none).
  14. Option 1 would be my ideal. And I would also like to echo that the textures of some costume pieces can make it hard to match things. For istance, a lot of the mask options don't really work when you've got metallic and such chest bits (especially if they're UM-shiney).

If nothing else, though - I've got to hand it to you folks how much better the newer pieces look compared to the really old ones. I would like to see more parts come up that are a bit more general/generic, though...

Can I bribe you with Zippy's chili?

edit: After reconsidering? Make that vote for option #2 for me.
  15. I'm just curious - Sappers and Carnies aside, are enemies built on the assuption that players have Health and Stamina? Certainly not the low-level ones since nobody has Stamina until level 20, but what about higher level ones?

Personally, I'd like to be able to import from Mids or something. But I can see why the desire - if you could do it offline/out of game, then bring it straight into the game, it might be a lot more convenient.

I was actually thinking that having a team of normal players versus a team of Gladiator style players would be fun. If your mob gets defeated then you have to respawn.

Not quite Left4Dead or Monster-play, but hey, it could still be interesting.

it was great fun. i wish i'd had a mission map in the open shard, that would have been better.

it didn't last long after being /bugged. <sniff>
Heehee... I've been wanting paintball guns for a while, myself. And more game modes for the arena (capture the flag, a DOTA/tower-defense, Unreal tournament Assault style gameplay/maps, etc).

My friends and I used to play "hide and seek" in Goldeneye on the N64. One person is it, and is the only one who can attack. When "it" kills you, you're it. Lot of fun. I brought that back to my friends in COH, although we were playing tag - only "it" could use sprint and brawl. Everyone else? Nothing! It was a lot of silly fun and got a bunch of non-PVPers to use the arena.

There's another game out there where players take the role of monsters to fight other players - that could be interesting. Or they could make the player invisible/phased and mastermind controls to combat other players in a PVE-ish manner.

But, again, finding PVE ways to compete against "them other folks" would be good... making a PVP via PVE version of Siren's Call, for instance...

    is MA dead?

Personally, I think the players are in a better position to promote the AE than the devs are. There's too much content in there (good, bad and ugly) for them to really sift through. Good arcs (fun, well written, challenging, etc) are simply overwhelmed by lesser made arcs (like mine ) and farming stuff.
  21. I'm not sure. For many of my existing characters I'm actually rather content with them having Fitness. Adding more powers would be nice and all but I'm not sure what I'd add or why (not a min/maxer).

New characters going forward, though? Oh, yes, certainly going to take advantage of it. No reason not to.

This is much like many of existing characters don't have a travel power until I hit level 14 even though I can get them at level 6 due to my 60-month VR.Its nice and all, but those characters are pretty defined, I like the powers I got, and honestly it'd be a lot of work to respec everyone.

I think this only serves to remind folks that slotting is not uniform. I usually have Swift 1-4 slotted, depending on character, Health 3 slotted and Stamina 3 slotted. All slottings are using TO/DO/SO's until I can get them slotted with Common IO's (the higher the better). I've only got two characters with Stamina 4 slotted due to Performance Shfiter.

Your usage, and needs, will vary

    And Franken-slotting is wonderful

My Willpower Scrapper that also has Fitness would agree. Also, EA plus fitness means any set IO bonuses going into Recovery and Regeneration are even sweeter, or you can decide not to bother trying to get those and go for other things or do slotting that's slanted towards set bonuses. Arguably, EA has a lot more options opened up to it as a result.
  24. I'd like to see PVP be more than direct conflict. PVP via PVE? I'd love to see ways for us to compete with each other via other means. Broaden the ways players can compete with each other and you'll see more folks get involved.

PVP is as much spirit as it is anything else.
