Experienced this with absorb pain and a few other powers.
Most annoying was last night when summoning Jack Frost misfired -
except when you hit the head the range of the kinetic heal doesnt actually go past the head so you can't heal...
-
Gratz on the 40... now just to get Uzzi to 50 in CoH
-
aww, last bugsy-monkey weekend... was great fun and just reminds me of how much you will be missed in the Iron Monkeys.
Best of luck, and don't forget us! -
Judging by responses this looks more likely to be saturday than Friday so think I will have to pull out
-
could maybe do saturday day time if that's best for peeps - don't think this TF is especially long is it?
-
I'm interested with my lvl 35 (should be 36 tonight) Ice/Kinetics controller called Shpongle
edit: forgot to say, Friday night would be best! -

Now we have that cleared up, is it possible that we can return to the debate in hand without attempting to put words in other peoples mouths?

I think the wording in the post I replied to was ambiguous then, you did say:
[ QUOTE ]
why anyone would want to kit their empath out with 'a few attacks'
[/ QUOTE ]
And I'm sorry, but to me that sounds very much like "why do empaths take attacks" and not "never take attacks instead of buffs"
On this particular thread I'm sure no one has yet spoken about the merits (or-lack-of) empath attacks, or cherry picking - sorry if I missed it!!
I also think the topic has moved off the debate in hand (it was absorb pain and moved on to clearmind..) so not sure why I should be singled out for changing the topic? -
There are a few reasons to kit an empath out with a few attacks, in my opinion... here are a couple...
1) Boredom (teams are so good you have nothing to do)
2) Attacks can be defensive (i.e. energy blast knocksback, electric has tesla cage - if a blaster (etc) draws too much aggro, to be able to jump in and do something about it is great. 9 times out of 10 the empath defender will be the only one paying 100% attention to every team member. Sure you can heal/buff them but what they really need is someone to get that angry mob off their back for 5 seconds. You don't even need to slot particulrly high in order to do something useful).
I go back to something I said on the general forums a little while ago regarding "healers". If you don't take attacks and you don't heal but purely buff (which has been said a few times on this thread) what do you do 90% of the time? Buffs just aren't available ALL the time to allow you just to buff... and on a good team you certainly wont be healing...
I only ask because on good teams where all I do is buff I spend quite some time attacking and having fun with my blasts because I just don't have anything to do. -
[ QUOTE ]
I would take an empath who only buffs over an empath who only heals any day.
[/ QUOTE ]
In my opinion though, each of those - empaths that only buff and empaths that only heal - are almost as bad as each other.
Being an empath is about using all of your powers to best benefit your team (and this is why you can actually use your secondaries to defend as well - no really you CAN use your blasts...).
Sure, the buffs are very very important and you do have to use them all the time... but if I was on a team with an empath that was only buffing I wouldn't be surprised if people started dying. Even the best empath in the world cannot buff the entire team all the time (buffs just dont recharge fast enough).
It's a balanced combination of healing, buffing and blasting (as required) that works the best. I think a good empath knows all their powers and knows when to use them... -
Gratz mega midget!
Did you find out yet if you are the first person to ding 50 offline? -
DefiantBadgers I believe - or at least thats what the competition was for
Maybe people could just post on the forums if they are holding onto a particular badge mission, as you can't be on that badge channel 24/7
Could just be one single thread, you post what you have. If anyone wants they can PM you to get on the team? -
[ QUOTE ]
Mine has Hover and Fly, hover has one slot and providing I have a Siphon Speed active it is a decent speed. However in a slow team it means I get left stranded in mid-air and have to use fly.
[/ QUOTE ]
I think I was planning on 3 slot because I have too many slots to use up... plus I personally found 1 slot hover + siphon speed too slow on my controller... didnt want to get stranded and left behind -
I'm actually planning a respec on my kinetics (kin/nrg not electric but hey) and I'm planning on adding Hover in to my build (3 slotted with flight speed).
I've found that I miss being able to get a birds eye view of battles and find the power really useful on my ice/kin controller. It offers useful knockback resistance considering I don't want to go down the Superjump/Acrobatics route... and as a kinetics you need something to offer resistance since you will generally be in melee range a lot of the time... -
I can see me better in mine tho
-
yeah it's a good avatar I think :P
here is mike dinging!

Gratz!
Can I say gratz again in a week?
Been real good fun having you in the SG and so pleased you made a 4th 50! Was cool finally being there for one of your dings! -
Gratz to Princess Kara (Bugsy Mac Moo) for getting his second 50 tonight...
Great way to ding by taking down Lusca as well -

I thought all the spawn sizes were fixed as soon as you enter the mish? And if this is false, does this change if say you explore the whole map and then recruit more people once that's done?
Any feedback here would be great.
[/ QUOTE ]
hi Uzzi
I don't think the mob sizes are set as you enter the mission they are set by when you get close to them - I've noticed on big outdoor maps when you've increased the team size part way through sudden spawns of mobs as the game realises you've gone from 2-8 people.
I *think* if you've been through and woken all the mobs up then they will stay the same size as they were when you woke them up. -
[ QUOTE ]
He had invited me for no other reason than to increase the number of mobs in his own mission and as soon as he started the mission he would kick everyone from the team and solo it. I don't know the official slang but I refer to this as "mission bumping".
[/ QUOTE ]
i'm probably being dumb... I thought that mobs only set size etc as and when you uncover them?
like if you go up a lift the game calculates how many people on the map and puts the mobs in? -
