I haven't gotten Inertial Reduction yet with my troller though, it comes at 26 I think? Something like that, a bit far away.
[/ QUOTE ]
I believe it's 28, at least that's when I have it pencilled in for my 'troller.
[/ QUOTE ]
Yup, it is 28 and yes it does last about 60 seconds... which has always been more than enough
OT: Glad you like the name Syn + Cybercel hehe -

if like me you want to click as little as possible and just travel (e.g. while you are building teams), then it will eventually annoy.
[/ QUOTE ]
This I don't really get... unless you take fly all the other travel powers take a fair amount of interaction to get you from A-B. It's just one extra click in a long line of clicks -
I think it looks good - and despite what people have said here (and on the other thread) I don't think it will be necessarily boring.
You will have 2 attacks (3 counting force bolt) for when the team is sailing through quite happily, so as long as you get those slotted up a little later I don't think you will get bored (I ran with only the same 2 attacks on a kinetics defender till the mid 30s - tho I admit kinetics is more frenetic)
It's probably a build that you'll either love or hate tho - so it won't necessarily be the redemtion of your Force Field defender -
I think you will be OK, I relied on siphon speed plus inertial reduction for travelling on my ice/kinetics controller - sure it takes a little getting used to but it is perfectly viable as a travel power. I don't think it's a waste to slot it for accuracy either (I ran siphon speed on auto all the time so I could get the best boost off it while fighting).
On my kinetics defender I eventually included haste and superspeed as well - so I get an even bigger recharge boost.
But it is a viable travel power - have a go, you can always take a travel power later after you've tried the siphon speed + inertial reduction combo (you get Inertial Reduction at lvl 18 so it's not too long to wait). -

lol I like your build, take a look at these powers though (no slots done):
*Snip*
Basically it's only got the single required secondary powerEverything else is primary or pools/epic. I was running out of things to pick that looked fun at the end, which is why Group fly is in there, heh.
I'm sure that I could rearrange the powers a little better to get a nice build for 22, where I am soon, but that's one team-hungry load of powers!
I added stamina in there too, since everyone has convinced me of the lack of end i'll have. The other idea was to pull out the fitness pool and put in the concealment one, perhaps.
Any thoughts? Any cries of 'you're a crazy man!!'? Hmm...
[/ QUOTE ]How can you actually PLAY such a build and not bore to death?
[/ QUOTE ]
easy... all that having to time your aid other to not get interrupted!
Seriously, I think this is the most team build I have ever seen :P If I was teamed with this FF defender I would love it... oh, and would help keep the chat at an acceptable lvl not to let him get bored
I think the powers look good, I would try and have 2 attacks tho... maybe aim for the first 2 attacks from nrg blast and then respec in the 40s so you can take group fly? -
reading your post made me wonder how I would actually build a ForceField defender hehe (I've tried one several times, including a FF/Nrg blast, but never got beyond lvl 10).
I think I would take stamina though... thinking that all those toggles will be a nightmare without stamina.
Anyway, you said you didn't want to solo?

notes:
didnt really bother with many of the secondaries, if you are team based you wont really need to attack, much. Usually think snipe is a waste of time for defenders as if you are pulling and it goes wrong you get all the aggro first... ouchy
Already mentioned I put stamina in, am sure you will need it. Left stimulant out of the medicine pool, that's personal preference as I've never really liked it. Gave you all the leadership pool. Was figuring that the def boost from maneuvers + all your bubbles has to be pretty good. And well, vengeance at 49 as thats when teams will face plant the most vs those pesky AVs
Didnt take all the FF powers as tbh I don't know enough about them and am basing my recommendations on teaming with a FF defender from mid 30s - to 50 with my controller. Think the slotting is OK for the shields but wasn't 100% sure about Force Bubble and Detention Field.
Went with the Psi epic so that you have something more to spend your endurance on when you hit the 40s as you dominate and telekenisis all the AVs and sappers
Am sure people will now pile in to correct the awful slotting mistakes, but hey as a build I think it looks quite fun. Tempted to roll it up and try -
[ QUOTE ]
The only way you can kind of combat the knockback is to pick up hover/fly and attack from above so you knock stuff into the ground.
[/ QUOTE ]
the other option with the knockback problem is... learn to like it a little bit.
I don't like knockback either and I remember feeling really gutted when I came back to my then lvl 16 kinetics defender to discover in a moment of madness I'd selected energy blast. I thought that it was going to be pretty rubbish for a defender that relies quite heavily on buffing off mobs stood next to the team
In the end I totally ignored all the AOE attacks and went the single target attacks (so as to annoy myself less initally) and then realised that it was actually quite an offensive defender tool. Being able to knockdown the deathmage that's attacking the contoller is quite useful...
If you only take the single target attacks it also allows you to be a bit more creative with your powerpools if you want to.
Alternativly, if you really hate knockback that much I would delete and make a defender with a blast that has no knockback
Defenders are fun tho, and I think different from controllers... as for the query:
[ QUOTE ]
Is the Defender AT more fun for those who can't keep up with being a Controller?
[/ QUOTE ]
NopeBoth are fun to play, I don't think controllers are faster or more frantic than defenders. I think they are about even... but I do think it takes a different mind set to play a defender

* Bug: Power Build Up from the Energy Mastery APP does not appear to effect many powers in the Storm, Dark, and Kinetics primary sets.
[/ QUOTE ]
This should be resolved.

source... -
AFAIK it's a bug that they are fixing with the defender changes in I7 (it also has no effect on Storm powers)
-
Hi
Only real comment is on the epic dark powers...
Soul Drain and Dark Consumption are probably better slotted with 1 x acc and 3 x recharge (soul drain is prolly ok 1 x ACC and 2 x recharge)
If you can then find some slots to put on Dark Consumption for end mod even better (might mean taking them in a different order) -

I've used Thunderclap alot on my lvl 50 earth/storm because it works extremely well with stalagmites in the earth set hitting the ones stalag missed and have NEVER once missed with it.
[/ QUOTE ]It used to be auto-hit, but was changed (or will be?) to work with the normal AoE mez accuracy.
[/ QUOTE ]
It was changed
[ QUOTE ]
Thunderclap is a PBAOE disorient with 100% ACC but it will only stun minions and Lts.
[/ QUOTE ]
Only stuns minions from when I've used it.
[/ QUOTE ]
my storm defender teams quite a lot with an earth controller and from what I've seen if we fire off thunderclap and stalagmites together we do stun the minions + Lts. On it's own though I only manage to stun minions.
am guessing since Chelsea is Earth/Storm the two powers are stacking...
[/ QUOTE ]Yes, although the two together should stun bosses too....
[/ QUOTE ]
quite possible... but hard to spot when the earth controller usually has the bosses held by the time I remember to move my camera so I'm not just looking at my little fluffy cloud... -

try not to confuse me too much as now I'm thinking I might have to start again from scratch!
I don't have hasten no, I am planning it in there eventually if I can... I just dont particularly like SS as a travel power
How do you manage without stamina? How many slots do you fill with end redux? Finding endurance quite an issue at the heady hights of lvl 12
I've already taken group invis btw...
argh
I think I need to go look at the build again
-
I'm wondering if the list is being maintained at the moment?
Certainly Ockiewaro hasn't posted since the end of January... -
I could possibly take both but I'd have to rethink my travel powers. Or just not have a travel power at all.
The intent is to be support, so perhaps it's fair that the rest of the team carry me about for 44 lvls...
Either that or get my travel powers instead of epic's...
I didnt realise that being an illusion/empath would raise so many questions about the build! -
now you're making deceive seem better than I thought!
hmmm choices.
If I took deceive I would have to skip spectral terror I think. So maybe the questions should be which is more useful?? -
[ QUOTE ]
Illusion and empathy have too many good powers so it gets hard to pick up a travel power and stamina (when healing I always ran out of end). Luckily I could work around that problem because of my concept, but I think I must be the only illusionist who doesn't have Spectral Terror or Deceive.
[/ QUOTE ]
I am actually finding it hard to work out when to slot in my travel power... but I think it just means I won't be travelling very fast until about lvl 24 (hurrah for team mates who are understanding and picked recell friend!). Stamina is a must tho and will be picked up at 20.
Plenty of illusionists don't seem to take deceive tho - and it won't be part of my build either. -
thanks for the replys. I'm trying an illusion/empathy now... and also an illusion/forcefield if I can find the time
-
I've always got 50 projects on the cards!
I really enjoyed playing my controller (Ice/Kinetics) but I found that I basically ignored the secondary (apart from selfish uses - by which I mean healing me, giving me endurance and buffing Jack) so I'm looking to build something a bit more team orientated (and I suppose it's more in my head team orientated as kinetics can be very team based it just didnt work like that when I played).
At the moment I'm looking at a build based on empathy but I'm also considering Sonic and Forcefield. I discounted */rad as I just know I would kill the toggled bad guys by mistake -
If you had to pick the best controller primary to compliment Empathy which would it be and why?
Not that I'm fishing to work out a new build at all... -
yeah, I'm sure there are quite a few people/combinations missing from the list... there are people out there with lvl 50s that rarely/never post on these forums.
Would be nice if we had a definitive list somewhere! -
Congratulations Dose
Well deserved and about time too!! -
[ QUOTE ]
BTW can someone produce a list of any combinations that don't have a 50 yet. Just interested.

it's late, i'm sleep... why am I doing this... I'm sure it's not accurate as a couple of combinations that originally made my list I know people have lvl 50s of that type but anyways
