  1. I, like most of us, have been in shock pretty much since Friday. I spent an entire weekend playing the game like it was brand new after having neglected it for the last year due to...well, life stuff. Today, someone asked me if I was okay because I looked upset. Of course, I muttered something like "I'm just tired today.", because a 28 year old sheriff's deputy sitting in her patrol car looking so despondent over a videogame isn't something I have care to explain. They wouldn't get that I'm not just losing a game, I'm losing a city of memories and friends and exploits. I'm losing the outlet I had to create myself in another world and fly!

This game has the best community I have ever seen, and I have tried my hand at pretty much everything. No other game has a community that works together so well. I could NEVER find a team in WoW that was half as interesting as the ones I found in the Hollows when I rolled Psychosus 8 years ago.

I am so angry at the way NCSoft treated you guys at Paragon Studios and at how they have treated the players. It all just feels tragic. We couldn't even get an epic ending, a final battle. I will spend the waning moments of CoH in Atlas Park, on the steps before the statue....I will leave Paragon City remembering how it looked the moment I entered it.

Thank you, War Witch. Thank you everyone!

    Goodbye Triumph!

You may not remember me, but 8 years ago I began my heroic career on Triumph. I moved to Virtue, but I never forgot the amazing community that Triumph has. I had never played an MMO before, but zoning into Atlas Park for the first time and hearing that epic music....oh man, I knew I was hooked. Knowing I won't ever be able to team again is very sad news indeed. No other game has the community that this game has, and Triumph has a very special community.

Thank you all for the memories! Real Heroes (and Villains) never die!

A shout out to my first supergroup, Your Face! I've never been with a more quirky, hilarious group of people! I bet many of you stopped playing ages ago, but I miss you to this day!
  3. I'm pretty let down by this pack. It feels almost like it should be a Natural Pack since the features are organic. I don't get the Mutant vibe at all.
  4. My favorite response of JLove's was when one of the first micro-packs to come out and some people were complaining about the cost. I frequently use bits of this to tell my superiors what I have been doing with my time and their money:

JLove: "What are you talking about? We all bought solid gold football helmets hand crafted by the moon pope and hired a bunch of Welsh Oxford educated super models to have a kobe steak fight. We lost 3 weeks worth of work time because of the E coli outbreak. It was worth every dirty penny. Now we're all jones'in for another round, so please help us chase the dragon. Daddy needs another hit."

Player: "Does it have leg armor?"

JLove: "No, Yes, Maybe, I don't know. I haven't even seen anything yet. Beep Beep Beep, what that sound? It's the sound of a truck load of your rent money going into my already to fat pockets. No, ready ask the team of Guatemalan children that I now outsource to because of the massive boat loads of money I now make from the micro packs."

There is nothing that is inherently less safe about carrying a modern semi-automatic pistol with a round chambered as opposed to with an empty chamber, provided the operator is properly trained and follows proper safety procedures. Nearly 100% of "accidental" firearms discharges occur because of negligence on the part of the operator. In other words, the idiot with the gun pulled the trigger. All those news stories where somebody was cleaning their gun or some cop was in the bathroom and the gun "just went off"? Pure, complete, unadulterated BS.

Modern handguns are almost without exception all "drop safe", meaning that the gun cannot fire without the trigger being pulled, due to passive mechanical safety devices built into the design of the firearm. Long-guns such as rifles and shotguns are a different story, and it is generally a good idea to store or carry them with an empty chamber until it is necessary to use them.

Considering this is a thread about firearms, I think this is an excellent point to bring up firearms safety. There are four simple & easy to remember firearms safety rules. If every gun owner (including police and the military) followed these basic rules 100% of the time, no one would ever get injured or killed with a firearm accidentally.

    1. All guns are always loaded. There is no such thing as an unloaded gun!
    2. Never let the muzzle of a firearm point at anything you are not willing to destroy.
    3. Keep your finger off the trigger until your sights are on the target AND you have made the decision to fire.
    4. Know what your target is and what is beyond it.
I couldn't agree with this more. I just have to add the rule I give to my students in my law enforcement/corrections academy:

:: puts on her red Instructor polo shirt::

    Shoot nothing red!

Thanks for the suggestions and for the high praises of my sports teams. At least I have the Bruins to keep me humble.

Anyone know of an active SG that is LGBT friendly?

I for one, happy period to see anything I grew up on, in another fashion, be it Big Screen, New Games, etc...

Is that why you love the Hello Kitty game so much?
  9. Grats all! I'm still bummed to lose Ex Libris, but this is still good news.
  10. As many have said before, I will miss you terribly. It's been wonderful to have someone so involved and devoted as you have been and I wish you all the luck in the world!

I wish there was a hug emote.

  12. I've done some digging and I've found some interesting things to ponder about issue 11.

The Paragon Times issue is 11.1.3. After giving some thought to plague themes, the Bible came to mind and then it clicked that there might be clues somewhere in the articles. Chapter 11 of Revelation (specifically 11-1 through 11-3) describes 1260 days (42 biblical months) of the "Abomination of Desolation", which is later on described as including vials of plagues.

This issue of the Paragon Times is remembering the 3rd anniversary of the Outbreak Plague and the next Veteran reward is the 42 month reward. So, in this alternate timeline the plague has run rampant for almost 42 months like in Revelations.

Next, Chapter 16 of Revelations describes the plagues in which the second (and this would be like a second plague for us since the articles look like flashbacks to an alternate timeline) turns the ocean into the blood like that of a dead man. Blood of the Black Stream perhaps?

The rikti's 4 horsemen are another biblical tie in. There's also mentions of a false prophet (the Lost?) that has the uncanny power to decieve people (Nemesis?)

Again, I sincerely hope I haven't repeated anyone else's ideas since I just spent a good hour looking this stuff up.

EDIT: i could have saved myself some time if I had read Posi's dev diary sooner.... >.<
  13. I appologize if I repeat someone's ideas and speculations because it seems the page list for this discussion is expanding faster than I can read.

Anyway, it appears that both of the Paragon Times articles speak of a very different version of what happened in Outbreak and Breakout than we know happened. I suspect that time has been reversed and that these articles are actually true and part of an alternate timeline that someone (nemesis, rikti, 5th column?) will thrust us all in to. A wicked mobius strip!
  14. Attention!

Brotherhood of the Wolf has recently merged with Brotherhood of the Fang to expand its membership to 20+!

We are a lupine themed VG but any character of any archetype and origin (no current level limit) is accepted as long as they can be a loyal and mature part of the pack. With active members of all levels, BotW prides itself on teamwork and group acts of villainy.

Send a tell @Protagon or to Edik.

Remember, other groups may have pack mentality, but we have pack brutality.
  15. I just started the VG Brotherhood of the Wolf for all wolf themed villains.

If anyone has a character that qualifies, send an in game tell to Edik.
