I saw last night after I posted that, that powerboost buffs the defense of my Hover, Weave and CJ, so that is cool
. (I remember reading it buffed Def earlier in the thread, it just didn't click it would affect this Dom, was thinking more for a melee toon.)
-
So post-i19 do you think it would boost your regen/recov from boosting the fitness powers? That'd be cool haha. What's strange is you explained the reasoning behind Dom not affecting Whirling Hands, but Power Boost double's it's stun duration...hmm. I wonder how.
Edit: Just checked the fitness thing, it doesn't change them as pools so that's a no for when they go inherent. I guess because they're auto? Or flagged maybe lol. -
Thanks, I did notice it affected Bone Smasher, this explains it. Any idea as to what Power Boost effects?

So I'm making a Mid's plan for a Mind/Energy Assault/Primal Forces Dom (if anyone has any special advice to these combo's that's great too). I only have 1 other Dom, and it's a lv50 Fire/Psi, it's horrible (I know, if I screwed up a fire/psi I did something really wrong).
First; what exactly does Domination buff? For instance, I toggled it back and forth and Whirling Hands' disorient was left unchanged.
And the same question for EA's Power Boost. This one modifies Whirling Hands. But it seems neither affect Knockback.
I have read that the alignment Frenzy power fills the dom bar, does it still buff damage any(Frenzy)? (understandable if it doesn't since Dom does, which just about every Dominator will hit promptly after hitting Frenzy)
Hmm, doesn't Domination buff damage now? Why doesn't Mid's factor it in? (I guess it could be some crazy formula that only Castle has in his head, where each individual power from each set gets a different buff or something. Wouldn't be the first timelmao)
Sorry if anything is blatantly wrong here, Mid's has been crashing for days now when I do random things with "Unhandled Exception" errors. I also managed to do something to it tonight to make it ignore Domination effects on every power that only re-launching it fixed lol. -
Quote:Yes, when you run the updater it will say "CityofHeroes will be installed to: C:\program files\city of heroes . Is this ok? Yes. No(Select Other Location)" and you can hit no and pick your own path. Thanks Chad! I have found a program called Drivermax that is supposedly great for grabbing all your drivers and storing them for easy access later. I'll check and make sure it gets the network drivers as well.
I backed up the entire hard drive last night, so I should have everything I need. I mainly use this rig solely for CoH and light web surfing, so it shouldn't be too terrible.
When I reun coh from the external drive, will it give me a prompt to install to a different directory or is there something i need to do. -
Yeah, UM raised the "bar" for CoH in general. Even if you turn it off, it is still requiring more GFX power than it did before. It's launch made me drop my graphics settings down to performance to be playable.

This is awesome! I love badges and could never get the settitle binds to work, so I have nothing to brag about about online. When I finish waking up and run this I will
.
And the export thing is just...amazing. I can't even contemplate what the app reads from to figure out what level everything was done at. -
It sounds like your card could be overheating/overcapacity with the UM addition. That does all kinds of crazy things to the display.
(Yesterday I forgot to lower my graphics before booting the 2nd account, the cohlogin was tinted red, then I tried again (not realizing the issue) and it was green. Then today the 2nd Coh window was sitting at the login screen playing its music with the window black haha.
I also overloaded it once and things that were maximized had their top border showing midscreen and off to the left. Overheating cards can pull off just about any strange display adaption you can think of lol.
Yes I know, I need a new PC, or to stop running 2 accounts, I'm workin' on it)

What combos of Pad/Keyboard/Mouse do you guys use?
I play with one hand on the pad and the other on the mouse (for manual targeting, UIs, and camcontrol), and reach to the keyboard for chat. -
That's the same one I'm interested in upgrading to Hyperstrike, but I didn't look up it's name since I got the feeling the OPs mind is made up. (The saitek's stick is getting kinda gritty, and "numb" with a little bit of extra deadzone before recognizing movement)

I use a Saitek Cyborg Command Unit, which this Nostromo pad seems to be 95% based off of. It all really depends on your companies profiler software (logitech has a copy of these pads running too). Mine has a built in switch with 3 shiftstates, plus the ability to make any of the other 17ish buttons a shiftstate key, giving you a whole 'nother set of commands.
As for control and shift, with my profiler you can set each key to be programmed "shift+1/shift+2" or a single key to be programmed to shift, and then just hold it while you hit your "1/2" style keys.
A trick I use with this is most of the global things like travel and autorun and insps are profiled into the keypad.....minus targeting. I have a slot in my 3 trays with a macro in it for targeting on all of my toons. That way, if I decide I don't want "targetcustomnext" but "targetcustomnear" or a tag thrown in to hunt specific things it can easily be done just by editing/swapping the macro. -
Quote:Yes, on the blue side of the dancefloor is a door marked on your map for "Studio 55", the dance club for praetoria, which will get you into Praetoria. When issue 19 is released, which, from rumors, should be a couple hours (Hi,
the entry (there may be more that I am unaware of) to Praetoria for Primal alts is in the Pocket D.
It is marked on the ingame map with a martini glass icon (you may have to check the "Lounge" option for thr map to display it) and is in the corner under the elevated Portal nearest the "Blue" side ie the other side to where we enter the Winter Chalet event.
It looks like a wall mounted Portal. The niche it is in has a misty/foggy floor.
Cheers). The door is in place but not active yet.

It is SO amazing how different servers are like completely different games community-wise. People really say no to stalkers just because they're stalkers? I never once have had that problem with my lv50, 37, and 24 stalkers. And the 50 has been accepted onto master runs led by people who'd never even played with me before.

With the respec required to claim 3 new powers after Fitness goes inherent I'm looking over my Nin/Nin/Leviathan Stalker. It's survivability is great, but when Retsu crashes I've made a habit of popping a blue and hitting Hibernate until my end is back at 100%. This is the first time I've considered changing his Epic since villains were given hero ancillaries, and Weapon Mastery's Shuriken powers fit the ninja concept way better than ice for me so I was thinking of switching to that.
I would be dropping Water Spout and Hibernate and taking Physical Perfection, Shuriken, Exploding Shuriken and possibly Targeting Drone.
Before I saw the Weapon Mastery I was going to remove Water Spout and take Spirit Shark and Spirit Shark Jaws. It looks like the damage from the shurikens totally fail in comparison to the sharks (looking at it the range is also 10 less for both weapon powers too), but the exploding shuriken is a more controllable and hence imo better AoE for a non-aoe based stalker than Water Spout.
For the only melee toon I have that's gotten it's tier9 with the endcrash do you think I would be satisfied dropping hibernate for physical perfection putting my endrecov somewhere between 3.01 and 3.16 to rebuild my end after a crash? -
Quote:yup, but they stuck an exploration badge down there, so like IronBlade said...Rogues are still classed as villains. You just get visitor permits. IIRC, the drones in RV at the Hero Base still classify you as a villain as well and one-shot you. That may have changed recently. I don't go to PvP zones if I can help it.

Quote:Well that's not true. It might not affect non-50s, but it certainly is tying up future Issues with Incarnate bonuses over other things for people who don't jump into the incarnate system. People say the same thing about the enhancement system we have now, but how many times have you run a mission at lv50 (enemies being anything) with your enhancement screen 100% empty and landed a hit, had it do noticeable damage, or kept from endcrashingPlus, just like all the other systems added to the game, the Incarnate system is totally optional, and won't affect the core game at all.
lol? The current invention system might not have meant to make the game harder but it did, at least for content after it came out (which now at issue 18 live, is the majority of it), people purpled out complain things are too easy and the devs make new stuff harder, so it is literally impossible to survive on an unslotted character at level 50, or any of the high ones(not saying I've ever tried it, or that "on the perfect team" it would matter, but solo? Yes. It did cause changes to the core game.)
They also said the same thing of Ultra Mode, saying everything was optional and could be turned off, but for non-supercomputers at the end of the day it still raised the requirements enough to be noticeable.
I'm still shaking my head at like 5 pages of this thread; players don't like that the "popular" rednames don't post amongst our threads often, or that when PR is done going over their announcements with a fine-tooth comb there is no emotion to it.
Posi jumped in here responding to a joke about one of his statements being wrong, and there are now 5 pages attacking his manners/etiquette. It was done in good fun, after a comment he took as a joke involving him. Sure if it was the annual address it wouldn't have been fitting, but it's just a comment on a thread. And if someone really is that upset about "dance emotes" not being in an issue promised there are more issues than Posi's grammar lol.
The point being 5 pages of attacks over nothing is what pushes the devs into hiding, and then we are upset we don't hear from them enough -
Quote:Force Bubble has a 50 foot radius, with it on/standing next to a range AT some attacks will be out of range, if this toon was hugging the brute with melee powers it would get very annoying, very fastThat depends on how far the enemy moved and whether or not the Mastermind was intentionally doing it to annoy you.
(The brute wouldn't be able to get a single attack off).
-
I would have kicked him. My main is a Mind/FF, and I see people using FF with not a clue what they're doing all the time.
Your situation reminds me of a merc/ff mm I saw on a +4 map once, (level 50 team), running force bubble(with dispersion OFF)and setting his merc's to "attack" (he said so), hopping around the room of purple mobs and whining "FF sucks im deleting this toon". Without being condescending I sent a tell telling him to turn off Force, Toggle-up Dispersion and set the pets to defensive to stop the faceplanting, and he ignored it lmao.
Of course IQ of the playerbase varies, it's just some sets/powers (FF), can really being a pain when you find somebody with a low one running it lol.
Edit: if you did use the term Dispersion though there is a chance they misunderstood your request, since as the other replies have said the one you wanted off was Force Bubble. There's a chance maybe he even did turn off Dispersion for you and dropped the whole team's defense since you asked LOL. -
Quote:That I did not know. OK. Now the incarnate system is amazingYou upgrade by combining the old one with other pieces to turn it into the next ranked ability.
Keep in mind that only the Alpha slot acts as an enhancement, and it acts like an enhancement that's added to all your powers, and it allows you to bypass part of the ED caps when it's used.
Later slots will grant completely new powers and abilities, but exactly what and how isn't currently available.. THAT IMO is what makes the alpha slot incredible, I can't believe they have marketed the alpha slot talk in a way that I have been over all this info and never heard that before.
Edit: NOW you can probably see why I was unimpressed with the alpha slot before lol. There's a huge difference between thinking one of those alpha slots gets dropped in a tier9/Hasten power by itself to increase a single power's recharge by 33%, and hearing it actually is global, and almost half as effective as hasten all by itself. -
Thanks! There was so much info that part didn't sink in. So we're getting like 40 new enhancements and only one can be slotted until at least issue 20? (albeit they ignore ED, give a levelshift, and it seems you start with a low tier and upgrade it, but still that's a lotta hype for a slot
)
Oh, and that brings my next question, if they are "upgradable", not "oo I got better salvage to craft a stronger one and replace it", how do you upgrade them?
Edit: or is the "Alpha Slot" actually capable of giving multiple slots? Or an alpha slot to each power or something. Sorry I'm asking so many questions, but I hate having to ask everyone for info on a new issue's content when I'm invited to a team involving it when the info has been out beforehand. -
Quote:I guess there was an announcement, but I don't frequent the announcement boards here, I got that link from this and that was the only link there, no specific pages or forum posts to be spoken ofNote that the page you linked to is one out of 3. One of them outlines exactly what things you can put into an Alpha Slot, exactly the statistics of what they do, and some info about how you get the salvage needed to make them. Apparently, you missed that one.
Edit: I have read over the 3 pages, Overview, Alpha Slot, and Lore. I saw the the Alpha Slot page already, it lists enhancements and salvage, no direct info on how to obtain "the alpha slot". I'm under the impression you craft the enhancements from the new TF salvage, but where does the actual -slot- come from? -
So the devs just released their announcement for this....I am possibly more confused as to what the Alpha Slot is now than before lol. They tried to write it in an exciting almost RP-ish fashion like they tend to do, but it's extremely uninformative that way
.
Like "You craft the new Incarnate abilities from these new components."; so by "abilities" do they mean a power, an enhancement, or some kind of enhancement proc?
It looks like the Alpha Slot set is 4 sets of new enhancements. Then they talk about "gaining the alpha slot". So does completing the storyarc give you one of these Alpha Slot enhancement things, or a new enhancement slot to place or what? I'm totally confused lol.
I know the issue isn't out yet, but I haven't been diving into all the Alpha Slot gossip and haven't been following all the posts/interviews/announcements etc, so even though it isn't out yet I'm sure a couple people dying for i19 know a little more to be able to fill me in.
So is the "Alpha Slot" "just" a new series of enhancements? I was under the impression it would add enhancement slots to a lv50, or possibly the ability to pick a new primary/secondary/pool/ancil/epic power for the build. The "level shift" is what got my attention, but if it involves any market interaction at all I expect it to hit PVP IO prices and it won't affect me at all as I can't afford things in that pricerange.
I can't believe I'm so confused lol, I've been around for years and know the leveling system of enhancements/levels by heart, and a solid understanding of the invention system, and yet they release this "first look" at the incarnate content, and from an outsider's perspective there's a ton of info on that page, but reading over it all I don't feel like I know anything more about incarnates than I did before.
-
Yes, the rogues getting stuck at the bottom of the RV elevator has been mentioned before, and probably /bugged, but the devs haven't commented or anything.

That's just people blaming the exit problem on the i19 pre-patch. Most of us(
) with this issue have had it longer, some have also said it started for them at GRs release, I think it may have been even earlier for me, but definitely not caused by the pre-patch.
And I was kinda burnt out on CoH prior to i17s release so I missed the pre-download, then decided, of all days, to login on i17 launch day. After that I advise everyone to take the pre-download before launchday lol.
