No, I meant that I strongly recommend that you use it as soon as you die and dont wait until your team kill all the mobs. The side effects of this power will help yur team.

Unless, of course, you rez just to die again because you decided to fight an AV on your own

Rise of the Phoenix restores half of your Health and Endurance, and grants you 90 secs of debt protection IIRC. It also grants you some time in which you cant be hit.

I slot it only with a Health SO. I rez with 66% of Health and use Healing Flames afterwards.

It is also a great power to use in the middle of the fight. It will KB some mobs, among other effects.

It depends on the player. Take me as an example: I'm terrible playing a stone Brute (I tried), but found out that I'm really good with Fire and than Elec after I7.

Elec doesnt have the same defense as stone, but the other powers are quite good in my hands hehe

LRSF is the most difficult content of the game and can take days if not properly planned. And even after that it can fail. I dont believe people are ofeended when you deny them a place in the team because you want a Corruptor, etc. But if that happens, it is mainly bacause the player is a bit unexperienced with the SF (like myself before the first try). You and the others are the best CoX players I know.

So dont't worry =) These are the words of a Fire Brute, whose best power can only be used after he dies =P Although I like it lol

Heyas!

Right now, my Defender is level 8 and, since I'm having so much fun with him, I decided to keep it. He will be used for PvE, I already have my PvP toons.

Now, I would like some advices on what powers should I take.

Currently I have:

- PFF, Deflection and Insulation Shield
- Mental Blast, Subdue
- Combat Jumping

I'll definetly have:

- Dispersion Bubble, Force Bubble
- Telekinetic Blast, Will Domination, Psychic Wail
- SJ, Acrobatics
- Assault, Tactics and Vengeance
- Fitness Pool

Is Detention Field worth it?
What about Psionic Tornado?
Any other useful powers?

I've just rolled a FF/Psi Defender today. He's currently lvl 3 (ZOMG! lol), and I think I'll have a lot of fun with him. I already have my PvP toons, so this one will be a team guy.

It doesn't matter how much experience you have, we are always ready to help a n00b. And despite the name, yes, we have Brutes too hehe myself included.

We have people from all lvl ranges (from your level to our lvl 50s), and we like to team. Some of us know each other for quite some time. We really like to do raids (check our base if you have the chance, and you can always participate) and some casual PvP in RV. We also like to run SFs among our members from time to time.

Power Surge makes you invencible. Almost.

First of all, it's useless against Psi damage, BUT it's your only source of Toxic Res.

When I'm in a team and we face an AV (you find a lot of them after lvl 40), I always turn PS on and aggro the AV and the mobs before the group attack. And I survive.

With PS I can solo EBs without inspirations easily, except Silver Mantis, Mynx, etc. With their stupid regen rates and MoG, they are a bit harder for a Brute.

Now, answering your question, as I have a /ELA Brute:

I strongly recommend:

Fitness (doh!), but take the end Drain as well because SS is very end heavy, specially KO Blow.

Medicine: ELA is resistance based so you'll get hit and maybe interrupted. But that will only happen if you dont slot the power properly. Put 3 IntRedx. Even surrounded by mobs I heal 90% of the time. Same goes for DoT. Also, Stimulant is a good choice because you dont have to slot it and it's usefull for Doms and Corrs. A good Brute won't need to use Aid Other IMO.

Speed: LR, Hasten with 3 recharge and Rage with one will make the later perma. Besides, SS is very good in PvP, and even in mission.

Now, my opinion on others:

Flight: If you chose Grounded, I strongly recomend getting AS and Fly. AS has good sinergy with SS, and Fly provides vertical movement.

Fighting: Forget it. Boxing and Kick and are not so good compared to the SS set or Air Superiority, Tough in inferior to Aid Self and Weave is useless because of its end cost. Tough, for Brutes IMO, is god if you already have a self heal in your secondary, or for /Inv to max smash/lethal res.

Just one question: you did with Brutes and Corrs, try with Doms and Stalkers...

I agree that there are a lot more Heroes than Villains, but CoV is certainly not a ghost town.

I started playing Villains, and right from the beggining I could get teams by using the Search tool. After that, I started to meet some people around my level and always tried to team with them because we knew each other. That's when you get nicknames "Hi Fu!"

After that I joined the SG from some people I was used to play with and the rest is history. I can find teams using the SG chat or by looking for some friends in my Global List.

The same happens in Heroes. When I tried to team at the beggining, I was amazed how difficult it was because I knew nobody except for some other players who already had high level toons. I always got replies like "team full", "waiting for a friend", "we dont need a Scrapper". It took some time, but I met other players and joined a good SG. Now getting a team is too easy.

Keep in mind this is a MMO, so try to know as many people as you can, and make some good friends You'll be amazed how fast you can find a team after that!
