  1. @ Dark Cobalt: Wow! Two Badges ready! I'll be online today with Promethean after 9pm or 9:30 (depends on the traffic). We could get these two Badges today if you want, and even call some of other people to get them too. I'll send you a tell by the time I log today.

@ Souly: I already got Man in Black (thanks to a low lvl mish that I farmed) and Couch Potato BUT! I also need Gangbuster and 1 Mayhem Exp Badge (Steel Canyon). I could help you with these and send you a tell if I find anyone that can get Couch Potato. If you want, I could help in BB with the Shivans too. Also, send me a tell today and I'll help you getting the Anarchist Badge, since I'm lvl 40 and I can get Founders Falls Mayhem

@ Dixon: I'll send you a tell for sure! Just tell me what your alt's name too, plz

@ Star Furie: Ahn... do I know you? Look! The Grandville GM! /runs away

I also need 3 of the Mayhem Achievement Badges, and getting the Arson one is a pain.
  2. Heyas!

I missed some Badges while I was leveling Promethean. and I need your help to get them. I can give you Infamy if you want, but I really need these Badges:

-Paragon of Vice (Willie Wheeler - lvl 15/20)
-Bad Luck (Hard Case - lvl 30/35)
-Exterminator (Tymothy Raymond - lvl 30/35)

If you got these contacts or is in the lvl range to get them, post here on the forums or send a tell to Promethean. (withe the .) or to @Fu Leng

    Thanks!
  3. Heyas!

My SS/Elec Brute is level 40 at the moment, and I would like some suggestions. I need to choose 2 powers.

Well, I've already decided I'll pick Mu Lightning and Super Speed, at levels 41 and 49. My question is about the two other powers.

I have to confess that the Mu Striker sounds interesting. I had a terrible experience with the Blood Widow and respeced it out, but thats because I play at least on Vicious and everytime she got into melee, she died.

Now, the Mu Pet is a ranged one, and fits my concept. Besides, with Hasten, Lightning Reflexes and 3 recharge it will be out 60% of the time. The problem is that in order to have access to the pet, I have to take either Fences or Ball Lightning. The AoE Immob has a -KB component (keep in mind I chose SS). And the AoE attak deal less damage than my weakest attack (Punch), altough it's Nrg damage.

The other option is taking Hand Clap and Lightning Field. What about Hand Clap? Is it useful? I dont see a lot of people taking this power, and I already have Foot Stomp.

    Any suggestions?

PS: I already took 4 Power Pools.
  4. I will never look at Lightning Field and not remember your line
  5. While I'm still thinking about all you guys have written (Playing a Hero seems a lot different than playing a Villain) and some thoughtful suggestions, I came up with a question: Can I take Provoke instead of Taunt in order to take Intimidate?

And another thing: lets say I take Taunt at lvl 10. I wont have Glacial Armor by then, and my shields wont help much since I wont have access to SOs. It feels like I'll be farming debt until level 20-22
  6. OK, I got a Fire/Fire who is almost level 50. Almost? Yes, that's because I7 came out and I started to level a /Elec. He was my first toon and, although I love him, I like to not feel squishy sometimes.

    Answering your questions:

-Yes, if you wanna good mez protection, you'll have to take CJ and Acrobatics. But if you are here just for the fun of it and want wings, here's my advice: Get Hover and Burn. Hpver is a pseudo KB protection. You will spin in the air, but won't fly away. Everytime you use Burn, you'll free yourself from Immobilization and have protection against it for some time (100 secs I believe). But keep in mind that it has a "Fear" component and it won't deal much damage.

-Aid Self: No, you don't need it. Healing Flames is slightly worse than AS, but it can't be interrupted.

-Rise of the Phoenix: People complain about this power, but I believe it's a perfect match for Fire. Why? Because /Fire is about killing fast. With Fire as your Primary and Fiery Embrace, you'll be able to deal lots of damage. But on the other hand, you can't stand as much as the other sets. So if you can't kill quickly, you get a second chance.

-Suggestions: Hasten for FE, some damage mitigation like the Presence Pool
  7. Heyas!

My GvE box is on its way and I'm planning my first Hero. My Favourite AT in CoV is the Brute, so a Tanker seems like a good choice. Probably a Ice/SS/Nrg

Now, I would like some suggestions. I'm experienced with Brutes, but their job is to keep fighting so they get better and better. And the Tanker, AFAIK, is about staying alive while the Scrapper deals the damage. Am I wrong?

And what about Taunt? Is it really necessary? Sometimes in CoV a Brute plays the role of a Tanker, but all we do is to jump first into the group of mobs. Can I use the same strategy?
  8. Promethean_EU

    secondarys

So basically you want what everybody wants in a Brute.

First of all, you need to decide if res to toxic or psi is important. Next, which abilities would you like to have too (fear, end drain, etc).

From what you described I can tell you that /Fire and /Dark won't suit you. Good res, but they lack some mez protection.

BTW, there's a topic discussing Secondaries right now.
  9. I was sure Siege Engine would win! It was a very good costume, and original. I thought he should have won.

Firechill, I knew you would get the 4th prize. When they explained it, I Just thought "the pink yellow guy gotta be there!"

And tbh, I thought the 1st prize was unoriginal.

    Oh well, cheers
  10. I believe you cant enjoy any AT until lvl 20 hehe

I tried two Stalkers so far: one Dark/EA and a Nin/Nin

EA kinda sucks. I though it would be cool to have an end drain (like I do with my Brute, very useful), a toggle status protection and Overload. But then I realized I have no protection against two types of damage, the same problem I have with my first Brute.

Then I tried Nin/nin. It feels like a good set but the problem was that after hitting the first time, I started to play like a Brute until I could Hide again.

    I guess I'll try a Dominator =P
  11. From my experience with Patron Powers:

-The first power is useful, it adds a ranged attack to your chain with good damage
-The Immob power is useful to a lesser extent. I tried it and got tired of pressing that button everytime I got in a fight. Melee based mobs won't attack you, and your Fury will decrease. But if you PvP, Web Envelope has some good status effects like -Fly.
-The AoE ranged attack is terrible! 32 secs recharge for mediocre damage. Although they have some interesting effects, like the -5% acc debuff from Dark Obliteration.
-Pets... do a favour to yourself and skip them. I tried the Blood Widow and it was interesting at first. Then I realized they are useless in PvP and won't stand more than seconds if you play on Relentless.

The Patron Powers for Brutes are not so good. Skip them if you want, although I always take the first power.

As for Lightning Field, it's a nice power and will help your teammates because you aggro most opponents. I didn't take it, but that's because my toon is specialized in dealing high amounts of damage to a single opponent.

Now, these could be the words from someone unexperienced because I never played CoH, but I don't get why should Brutes get Taunt. We are not Tankers, our role in a team is to get aggro by attacking the mobs and getting Fury from the ones who hit you back. None of my Brutes have Taunt.
  12. I have a /Elec Brute and I remember my shield dropped only once. I was fighting some Crey and as I was surrounded by some Power Tanks, they were able to Stun me. But that's it.

Maybe you should report this situation as a bug. They will probably ask you to run some tests and give some feedback, but I believe something is wrong.
  13. Thats why I wanted some opinions. I know I'm playing them in the wrong way. I just wanted to understand this AT a bit better.
  14. My favourite AT by far are the Brutes, followed by Corruptors. But as the game has 5 ATs, I thought I should try the other 3, and I picked the Stalkers

After trying the sets a bit and reading the forums, I got a bit confused as how should I play this AT.

Well, keep in mind that this post was written by someone who's used to jump into the middle of the mobs and manage to stay alive for a long time.

My biggest issue is with the Secondaries. They fall into 3 categories for me:

-Defensive: EA, SR and Nin. Most of the time I read that Stalkers should be about defense because you need to Hide and Placate all the time. I agree that it works very well in PvE, but in PvP it seems that you'll get hit a lot since your opponent will have ACC Enhancements. So, in the long run, in RV for example, no matter how many shields you are running, you'll die with 2 shots. So why should I take them?

-Regeneration: When I fight in RV, /Regen Scrappers are a pain. But when it comes to Stalkers, I'm under the impression they cant regenerate their Health fast enough. That's because Stalkers have fewer HP, so the ammount of HPs they regenerate per tick is smaller. Besides, it has no defense. So why should I take this set?

-Dark Armor: The Resistance based set. I always hear bad things about it including it wont help you to use Placate or Hide and that you will aggro too much mobs. But then I remember /EA Brutes in RV: you'll get hit no matter what, but my Resistance based Brute will always absorb some damage. Ironically, this is the only set that makes any sense to me. Then again, I'm used to Brutes (gotta love Power Surge ), but it lacks a god mode. So why should I take this set?

I would like to hear some opinions about how Stalkers are meant to be played an what I got wrong.
  15. Actually, it would be a good ideia if you posted your lvl 50 build. We could help you even more =]

Yeah, pre-20 Brutes will have serious Endurance problems, so you gotta take Stamina at lvl 20.

    - Scorch and your attack chain

Well, you'll also have some gaps in your attack chain at the beggining. I also have a FM/FA, and I took Fire Sword, Cremate and GFS. Then I got other attacks to fill my chain, like Boxing and Gloom. With these 5 attacks, specially Boxing, I dont stop attacking. I also took Flurry for when I'm slowed and Hasten is off.

My suggestion: If you have problems with your attack chain, I suggest that you pick another power pool with an attack. Like I said in my previous post, you could get Air Superiority from the Flight Pool so you dont start another one. Or pick Boxing so you can get Tough later. But dont take Weave!!! :P

    - Fly or SJ

I agree with you about flying. I like it too and took it with my other Brute. AS rules =] But keep in mind you still dont have protection against Immobilization. If you keep Fly, get Burn as soon as you can. It will free your character and grant him protection for a period of time.

    - Accuracy

Keep in mind that your accuracy will be 75% against mobs of your lvl if you dont have any enhancements. This value will decrease if the mobs level is higher than yours and if they have any defense. So, if you are plying on Vicious for example, you'll hit 50% of the time roughly.

    ToHit = (1+Enhancements)*(0.75+ToHitBuff-MobDefense-ToHitDebuff)

Before slotting Damage, you should put some Accuracy Enhancements. The problem is that you'll have some Acc problems until you get SOs. Until then, I always have 3 DOs in all my attacks, then I switch to 2 SOs. But if you are level 22, you can get level 25 SOs. You wont have Infamy to buy all the enhancements you want, but get 2 Acc for each attack if you are planning o play on any Difficulty above Vicious or you'll miss most of the time.

    Phew! =P
  16. CJ is way better than Hover for Brutes. Take it, love it, and dont forget Acro.

BTW, if you are planning to take Fly, Air Superiority is gold for Brutes. It has -Fly and 100% Knock-Up.
  17. So you chose Fiery Aura... well, you also chose SJ as your travel power. FA has no protection against Immobilization and KB, so you need Combat Jumping and Acrobatics.

Dont take Scorch at 22, your other attacks are better.

Take Plasma Shield before Health, but I suspect you are already level 22, so nvm.
  18. It's not worth slotting it. You already have a high Nrg res and spending 2 slots will give you only 3~4%. It's even lower for Neg res.
  19. Another noob Stalker question:

why do I see some Stalkers taking the Concealment Power Pool? I can understand Stealth, but why Invisibility?

Besides, is Stealth+Hide enough to counter Tactics?
  20. [ QUOTE ]
    [ QUOTE ]

    no fear/confuse/end drain/Psi/Toxic protection.

    [/ QUOTE ]

no toxic protection???? erm think someone needs to re read the descript on healing flames again....
just most tend to use it as a self heal/hp buff and forget about the other effect

    [/ QUOTE ]

OK... 15% Toxic Res, I know. But nobody slots HF for resistance. No thing compared to a 40% Psi resistance from Static Shield.
  21. I was thinking about Repulse only to use it in PvE, with lots of mobs around me. It would be a good damage mitigation. But I PvP I suspect powers like Acrobatics will make it useless.

Were you able to run the 3 shields and Repulse with only Energy Drain?
  22. Today is your luck day!

    I have a high level fire/fire AND a high level SS/Elec!

    Fire/Fire
-Pros: Good self heal, avarage resistance numbers, you'll enjoy all the effects from Fiery Embrace, nice damage aura, AoE attacks, fire is not so resisted, DoT, offensive set
-Cons: No side-effect from the attacks besides DoT, no God mode, you need to die in order to use the tier 9 power, you need to kill fast or you wont last (offensive set), you need to take SJ as your travel power (along with CJ and Acrobatics), no fear/confuse/end drain/Psi/Toxic protection.

Well, as you can see from my signature, I liked playing with him and I can PvP, although I'm not the most feared toon on RV hehe. Keep in mind that you'll need to be fast (Hasten is a good option) and you have no damage mitigation (I took the Presence Pool). but I gurantee it's a fun set.

    SS/Elec:
-Pros: Good Mez protection, TP protection, end drain protection, good endurance management, slow resistance, damage mitigation (Knockback), KO Blow (Hold), +20% recharge, God mode, Rage, Psi resistance
-Cons: No self heal, smashing damage is highly resisted, you'll lose some mez protection if you jump or fly, no fear/confuse/toxic protection

You stand longer with this build as you'll be able to mitigate some damage. Aid Self is mandatory and you'll need to learn how to use Rage in order to deal good damage in mobs with high smashing resistance.

I can tell you that after leveling my SS/Elec a bit, I forgot about my Fire/Fire. I still PvP a bit with him, but Promethean is much more fun!

Ma suggestion: SS/Elec. You wont be disappointed.
  23. Heyas!

After playing a lot with Brutes, I decided to try a Stalker for a change. My first one. I made a Dark/EA one and he is currently level 7.

I picked EA because 1) it's a defensive set, 2) as I love my /Elec Brute, EA seemed the right choice to do (and fun). But then I realized I'm a noob when it come to Stalkers, and now I need some tips from you guys.

What should I get from EA in this build?

What Power Pools should I get?

Can I skip Stamina with Energy Drain and Conserve Power? I couldnt do it with my Brute (but I picked only ED).

Is Repulse worth? Can I AS or remain hidden if I use it?

    Thanks!
  24. I agree, so I'll rewrite my post:

If you have Energy Drain and Stamina, you can skip Conserve Power IMO.
  25. Maximillion is right, except for the fact that, from the experience I have with my ELA Brute, you can skip Conserve Power if you got End Drain.
