The only problem I have with that, Prodiguy, is that I'm doing my best to add another element of difficulty into getting into the Hazard Zones. For Immersion's sake, if nothing else. These characters already have free access to, as I said before, 20 city zones.

I feel that requiring a short mission to get 'keyed' up for Hazard Zones is sufficient... but not less than that for my purposes. Initially I wanted them only able to enter through a sewer map or through the help of a registered hero.

The Mission idea was my farthest reaching compromise on that issue, but noone seems really willing to meet me in the middle, there. Risk Versus Reward is why I'm putting the Hazard Zones into such a difficult state. You've got all these other zones to play in, zones other heroes and villains will NEVER go to. You have to 'pay' for it, somehow.

Actually, I was all for the idea of limiting their access to 'restricted' zones like the Shard, or the Hazard Zones. I liked the Sewer idea because that's how I thought Villains would get around in Paragon (before I knew they had their own playground).

Personally, I wouldn't want any way for them to enter the Hazard zones solo except for a 'new' sewer system that linked all the Hazard zones, PvP zones and such from, say, Atlas, Galaxy and Mercy, all the starting zones. It would only link to PvP/Hazard zones, though, so they could 'tram' to all other open zones.

Or ferry. Different 'rides for different sides, as the saying goes.

    Or something similar.
  2. A while ago, I was considering the idea of the low level PPD attacking you on sight- Vigilantism and all. By level 20 (The popular choice of when to be able to start the arc), you'd probably be prepared to fight them.

Not Longbow, though, and no PPD past King's Row. After a certain point, you could just say they 'give up,' because Longbow has a HUGE presence in Faultline, and... Yeah.

For the starting mission idea- I'unno, you could say that the card you made at Character Creation is some sort of coded key card that when swiped into either the Paragon City Hall or Fort Darwin mainframe registers you for that, which would enable you to pick all those things at first as usual.

I like it - especially the concept of a mish to get forged documents. Their training mish or something like that.

    [/ QUOTE ]

    Hm...

    Outbreak.
    Breakout
    Break In

XD It's some sort of Mercenary building, the easiest place to acquire basic registration for access to both Paragon City and the Rogue Isles. They issue you both papers, just enough to get you basic Hero and Destined access into the locations.

Would also explain why you're on the Destined list and why you're not being pursued by Longbow for Hero-ing without a license.

Also, instead of Influence or Infamy, just to have one simple currency, call the Vigilante's 'Reputation' in general.

Please use this thread to discuss the below announcement

    # Mission Teleporter Power - Players can save time and get right into the action by teleporting directly to their active mission.

    # Exclusive Valkyrie Costume set - Costume pieces include two varieties of wings, a cape, a skirt/kilt, pants, boots, shoulders, chest, gloves, belts, and helmet with multiple details.

    [/ QUOTE ]

Exclusive costume sets based on what variety of computer you happen to own? That is incredibly freaking lame. Oh, but you can buy them if you don't have a Mac. Meh.

You know, I'm all for opening up the game to more platforms, but locking people out of game content based on what hardware they've chosen to spend upwards of $1000 dollars on for the most part is infuriating. Or are you going to be providing exclusive items to PC users free of charge that Mac users can chose to buy?

I'm having a hard time coming up with civil language for how obnoxious this decision is.

Edit: Maybe this should be in the other mac thread. I'm just going to copy and paste it over there.

    [/ QUOTE ]

Really? Really... Its that upsetting to you that when the game come out on a new console that theres some new stuff they get for free, that youll end up getting for max $10? Its hardly "Missing out on content" as you said above, youll be missing a costume set and an inherent power that will prolly end up having a 30 min recharge anyway. I mean i'm sure you psyched to hop on your PC and make your Valkyrie right away right?! It's two little things... hardly content and your hardly missing it...

    [/ QUOTE ]

While the others cleared up my worries, I'll just reference this.

Costume pieces should never be limited to system ANYTHINGS, except maybe if they're exclusives to those systems, like special characters in the Soul Caliber series.

Imagine, for instance, you played Soul Caliber II on PS2. You would get Heihachi. Anyone else you played against could also use Heihachi on the PS2 you're playing on.

    Xbox, Spawn. Gamecube, Link.

Now, imagine if you went online with this. Imagine a PS2 player could fight an Xbox player. You'd have unique characters completely unavailable to each other.

That was what I thought was happening here- That Mac users got a whole costume set and an EXTREMELY useful power that Microsoft users could NOT get. For free, no less.

Since they come in a box set that they also have to pay for, I'm alright with that. A group getting free costume sets and powers while another has to pay is just pretty stupid. Since it isn't that way, I have no complaints.
  5. ...

Usually, I'm all for these decisions, but come on now-

A whole set of costume pieces, and a mission teleport power, just for having a different operating system?

    That's... A bit out there.

Against my usual personality, I'm inclined to agree with Angry_Citizen here.

[EDIT] Oh, and note- The missions have been a problem in CoH since launch... Yeah, agree with this less now.
  6. This thread makes me happy.

Seriously- Amid all the anger and whining on these forums, a nice thread about children learning from my favourite game online makes me really happy.

It reminds me of when I began learning from online games.

    It actually started with Runescape.

I was into the whole 'ore' deal and such, figuring out which ores combined into which metal and stuff.

A few years later, in a science class, I seemed to be the only one that knew that copper and tin made bronze. It was a nice feeling.

But yeah, if anyone happens to roll a hero on Virtue, I'd be happy to team with them! My Elec/Elec Blaster could use some burnination. XD

    Smurfy question

Entire character- You can't mix and match skills any more.

Previously, I was going the Creature Handler/Bio-Engineer route, and another character had the Fencer/Marksmen route.

    Now?

I have a Jedi (Only melee class) with full Lightside.

I do like Space though. Fun stuff for now.
  8. I have to ask now- How do people not realize this kind of stuff already?

First there was the guy on MMORPG.com assuming Shield was gonna be a POWER POOL, now people didn't know it could be used with swords.

Are these people just not checking the forums obsessively every day like me?
  9. Prodiguy

    Suggestions?

I suggest Putfile- That's where a few of us put music for some characters. You can upload music from anywhere in your hard drive, wait for a minute or so, and it'll be online. Link to the song and viola- Musical ambiance.

makes you wonder...if all the previous raids weren't enough to get her to quit...what's coming now?

    [/ QUOTE ]

    O_O

    THAT'S IT!

The Coming Storm! All Trainer and Contact NPCs will be deleted! We'll have to fend for ourselves, hence I14 holding the Mission Architect! We will be fighting for our lives in a world filled with only civilians we must defend!

Hurry heroes, to the streets! Defend our livelihood!
  11. I KNEW it was from a Sonic game. XD It sounded so familiar.
  12. What was the song in the first vid. against Siege?

I like seeing videos of CoH/V, it shows just how epic it can be... Mostly because I'm not seeing how epic it can be, I'm usually too concerned with not dieing. XD

I played Star Wars galaxy a while.

I loved the way one can build a home for one's character.

The skill trees are an interesting departure from the 'level' standard of most MMORPGs.

I just got frustrated by the teaming aspect (actually lack of one).

    [/ QUOTE ]

    Hehe... Yeah... It's changed.

    A lot.

You can go up to level 90, only have 9 classes (Jedi being a weakened starting class), and now instead of 20 person teams, you can have the common 8.

I only play it for the RP aspect. XD

Now, should I put screenshots of some of my other toons in this?

    [/ QUOTE ]

You can- I have my Photobucket filled with CoH/V pictures... And a few avatars, and SWG.

    Mostly CoX though.
  15. See, I've noticed that too- Some people seem to have over-the-limit long IDs. It might just be their use of the Return key though.
  16. I personally post mine up on DeviantArt as Fanfiction.

Eh, it's all congregated in one place and easy to read, so it's really not even nearly complicated.

I was thinking of linking the entire file (39 screenshots).

    photobucket?

hoping I can access that as photobucket.com

    [/ QUOTE ]

If you want, you could upload the whole file up to a picture uploading site like Photobucket, then create a folder in your profile and link us to that.

That way, we can look at all the pictures as we go.

    Thank you GnaCoh.

I just found the file of all the sreenshots I've been trying. It was in my computer files.

Now I just have to figure how to post them in this forum

    [/ QUOTE ]

Since you know where the pictures are now, you can just create a Photobucket account or something similar, upload the pictures pertaining to her, and use the URL command inherent on each picture.

Then, just go ahead and paste that here, and it'll link us directly to the picture.
  19. [ QUOTE ]
    a) Yes, posting more than one thread on the same story creates a clutter. It's also con venient to store all related stories in one place for easy access.

    b) No idea. Not my character. In my opinion, directly interacting/controlling the surviving eight is off-limits because nobody can truely know just what they'd do except their creators. That's just me though.

    [/ QUOTE ]

It's just a story- In RP, I'd agree, but for stories, I don't see a big deal.
  20. Pfft, I would'a been if I'd known we were allowed to. Some people only like comments at the end and stuff.

But the story- I love it. Positron is a dork. XD It might just be me, but I love seeing human traits in the Phalanx members, and you made him rather funny. I can't wait for part two!

Oh, and Posi- The best brand is 'Cimeroran.' Trust me.
  21. I thought about doing this last year, but a lot of stuff happened that got me in a 'depressed-no-writey' kind of mood.

I might try it this year, but I'm not sure.

    [OMM]
In my day, not only did you start collecting debt at lvl 6, you wern't even considered to be in debt till you were over 1 million in debt. Why, my first level 50 went from level 35 to 50 with 1.5 million perma-debt!

There was no Green Line to Skyway, or Founders Falls, and no fancy shmancy disco tech, or time travel short cuts. We had to run everywhere, Faultline was nothing but a Vhaz, Clock and CoT infested chasm that you could get hopelessly stuck in.

We didn't have bases with fancy porters, we had to run all the way across Bricks to get to Crey's Folley, and Founder's to get to Eden, or the Hive! When we traded inf to another hero, we had to make ten individual trades just to transfer one million cuz we could only trade 99999 at a time... and yes, that's right we didn't have fancy punctuation like commas either!

If ya took Fly as a travel power, you could bottom out yer endurance simply by leaving it toggled on and not doing anything else. And we liked it that way!

Yep, those were the days when there was real heroes. Heroes that could herd up every damn foe in Bricks, pile them all by the hundreds into a dumpster, and let the blasters nuke them all to hell in a single BSOD inducing, Protection fault overrun, map serving explosion! It was glorious!

Not at all like today's soft squishy heroes with their "We needz a heelorz" Young whippersnappers, don't none of em know what a real hero is!! [/OMM]

    [/ QUOTE ]

You know, I was laughing through this whole thing.

Because you are so right. XD

I still switch off Fly for Hover because I keep worrying about the Endurance. I always fear going into Faultline with Flight because I keep remembering the days before it was refurbished.

Also, when the dam area was somewhere special that was rarely seen in pictures, then quickly removed.
  23. In my day, we had to wait for 14 levels to get a travel power. And we had to run to each contact, and the leveling was harder.

And Founder's Falls HAD no tram.

I'd prefer to keep my reg. date because that gives me the right to go into 'old-man-mode.' OMM.

And trust me, THIS Omm is not about peace and harmony.

I'm so used to UBB now, it will take some time to adjust, but lately, this has been a rather unreliable forum, so I'm all for it!
  25. [ QUOTE ]
Oh and to the "if you buy it, you get used to it" comment, funny how that only seems to apply to the capes, but not to the auras.

    [/ QUOTE ]

    ...Huuuh...?

It really doesn't matter... The capes have been around for a long time now. The auras are the 'new thing.' They're little shiny things that people buy to look nice.

Level 20 is not a hard level to achieve. 30 takes a little while. It took me four days to get to 20 casually.

I like the fact that the auras are now level 1. In fact, I was talking to someone who bought the pack after buying CoH a little while ago, and felt bad telling the guy he had to level more than halfway up to the max level to unlock the thing he'd bought.

    Chillax.
