    So we have confirmed:

We are having a Pocket D Party on Saturday night July 26th in San Diego. In order to attend you must have a VIP pass that you can pick up from our booth.

For those folks that have a COH/COV account there is a special item attached to your VIP pass so make sure you stop by early to ensure you get your badge. This event is not limited to only COH/COV players, so bring your friends too!

We will have more finalized details soon, but this much has been confirmed on our end so save Saturday night in your calendar. The first Heroes & Villains at the party will get free drink coupons.

I'll keep you posted as we know more.

    Regards,

    Ex Libris

How do we redeem our free slots? Mine aren't showing up anywhere...!

    [/ QUOTE ]

Ok when your logged on and looking at the character select screen. The very bottom slot should either have a dollar sign in it or an arrow. If it is an arrow then you have unassigned slots and can assign them by clicking on that slot. If it is a dollar sign then you need to click on the big dollar sign on the right side of the screen to buy more slots.

    [/ QUOTE ]

Hmm... I'm not getting any option for any free slots. Oh noooooo!! Halp!

    LF Arena history

Back when Issue 4 was on Test, the Blaster forums erupted in flames as many Blaster-centric players cried long and loud about how dreadfully gimped and doomed the entire AT was in PvP.

Flash forward to today and you'll see how absolutely ridiculous that claim was and is.

    That would be 8-805.

    5 and 805 are both North/Southbound Interstates.

Well, there is a 5-805 merge in north county, but I don't think there's a D&Bs anywhere near that, hehe.

Actually the blaster secondary is new. Might be a combo of some other powers, but as a set, new.

    [/ QUOTE ]

That's not at all the way I read BaB's post.
The blaster secondary is getting a new power in their secondary... not a new set of powers.
That's 1 (one) new power from an [u]existing set[u] (is how I read it anyways.)
This is going to be the same for other ATs, like the stalker primary, since no other sets have AS or placate, and no other set has hide.
Some sets will clearly have to be somewhat tweaked.

You can interpret it for yourselves here:
    http://boards.cityofheroes.com/showflat....ue#Post10396998

We'll all find out later today anyway.

    [/ QUOTE ]

That's the most bizarre interpretation I've read yet...

Did you read his post in context?

"most powersets ended up being straight ports. [...] the Blaster secondary ended up with a completely new power."

"the" blaster secondary kinda suggests that there's going to be one secondary, as in singular, which further implies that it's going to be a new powerset fitted with powers from existing powersets, with one new power.

I really hope this is not all the info we are getting today.

    [/ QUOTE ]

As I stated in an earlier thread, we are still weeks out from closed beta and more weeks out from open beta and then launch. So, expect to get something on a weekly basis from now till then. If we just dumped it all out now, well we'd be sitting around going "that's nice, but when can I play it?" So, thanks for your patience and understanding that it won't all come at once.

    SWG vet rewards.

I played MUDs that didn't have vet rewards but they did have preferred membership where those that paid more each month got access to more in game. I'd rather have vet rewards.

48 Month Veteran Reward: Familiar Pet

Star Wars Galaxies veterans have an exciting new reward available at the 48 month milestone: a special pet that can buff its master.

Depending on the familiar you choose, you can gain a companion that can enhance your precision and strength, agility, or constitution!

    [/ QUOTE ]

WTH? Are we just ripping off the SWG vet rewards system?
  13. [ QUOTE ]
A four-year wait is not an incentive for me; it's an indication that this game might be wasting my time.

    [/ QUOTE ]

Well, are you playing the game for the game or are you playing it for the Vet rewards? If you are, then you're here for the wrong reasons anyway.
  14. I get the impression that you didn't really "inform" your friends about Vet rewards so much as you vented your dissatisfaction. No wonder they aren't enthused about playing the game if you're ranting about them negatively.

If you really want to get them interested, try a more positive approach and tell them about the things you find fun and enjoyable. Staying away from your personal negative bias towards secondary and supplemental aspects of the game might help too.

I just don't see the logic in someone refusing to play a game they might otherwise enjoy based on the vet reward system.
I don't get how developers caring about their long term subscribers is a bad thing, but then again, entitlement issues abound in our society. Guess that speaks a lot about human nature.

Nevermind that most new players I meet really don't give more than a "that's cool" or "awww, bummer" and move on when they hear/see some new vet reward thay can't have for x amount of months.

However, our highest priority is to ensure that the quality of all new content being brought to the game meets and exceeds your expectations.

    [/ QUOTE ]

If I knew I was going to be addressing forum readers, I don't think I would make that one of my priorities. If Issue 12 introduced level 60 PvP raid content on the moon soloable by villains with epic archetypes that unlocked customizable power effects while dropping respecifications inventions that allowed you to change your power sets while simultaneously reversed the nipple nerf, forum readers would wonder why there was no big red ball in the first mission, why the evil moon aliens have cooler assault rifles than the players, and why there's no body scaler that allows you to select the number of nipples your body has, all while PLing themselves to 60 and running all the content in one weekend, and then wondering what's holding up Issue 13.

Positron's TF shouldn't be affected much.

    [/ QUOTE ]

Other than I know that I won't ever plan to do Posi's TF ever again, since that is a TF I would much rather solo than try to take a team along on for a ride against the three most annoying villain groups of the first 15 levels of the game.

    [/ QUOTE ]

    Ditto.
They could give Posi the long-awaited redo before this as well. Even with a good team it's way too long. Letting one person solo and come back for badge was the most reasonable way to finish.

    [/ QUOTE ]

I can agree with this. I'll add the Shadow Shard TFs to that list though...

"Who you are making it hard on is people who enjoy SOLOING, who enjoy CASUAL game play or those that enjoy PVP and want the accolades."

    [/ QUOTE ]

I call BS on this statement. TFs and SFs have always been intended to be done as a team. That means not solo. If you can't manage to solo them then find a team.

The funny part is certian players are still going to manage to solo some of these.

Solo players have 98% of the rest of the game to solo with. So no sympathy here.

I also find it hard top believe that this is going to effect casual players to much. Either they have the time to do these or they don't.

All this angst is because people will have to take more time to get thier shiney from the Cap SF.

    Boo Hoo.

    ~MR

    [/ QUOTE ]

I don't call BS on it since I said it. If I want to team I will, HOWEVER if I feel like not teaming, I won't. This change was made to make it so I have to. I'd rather personally run a Hess TF solo myself. I find it 1. enjoyable, 2. oh yeah enjoyable and 3. rewarding. I do the entire thing, I load in my accts and bam I get the rewards. And since not all of the rewards are IMO taskforceworthy (cuz yeah...I really need that 17,000th "Sting of the manticore" or yet another "Trap of the Hunter"), I am always hoping that ONE out of the FIVE get something I either need or can sell.

As long as I'm not breaking the EULA when I play, I see no reason to penalize me for how I play OR for the devs to tell me how to play. I'm a paying customer, I expect to be treated as such.

    [/ QUOTE ]

The fact that you need X amount of people to even start a TF should clue people in to the fact that you were not meant to solo it.

I really don't care about "casual players" that invite 4-5 other people to do a TF, have them quit or kicked, then proceed to do the whole thing themselves.
Circumventing game mechanics to suit your needs gets no sympathy from me.

Seriously, they've always been designed this way. The only sad part is how long it took them to fix this.
  18. I can't believe the furor some of you whip yourselves into over such an inane and small-stuff change to TFs.

Yes, small stuff. Even Positron. If you can't complete Posi with 4 people, you're doing it wrong and need to rethink your playstyle anyway.

I think it's time for another GDN or ED to put things back in perspective.
  19. This thread is awesome.

To all you threatening to quit over this mild and inane change to TFs... I'll be here to point, laugh at and ridicule you a few months from now for overexaggerating and making false promises

This game needs more, yes, LOTS more paid expansion packs. Something above and beyond a few emotes and re-hashed costume pieces.

Not only does it need more paid expansion packs, but they need to ADVERTISE them. Get new boxes on the shelves. Get people aware of it.

MOAR. OPTIONAL. PAID. EXPANSION. PACKS. PLZ.

    [/ QUOTE ]

PMM, I agree with you about Expansion Packs...

This is NOT an expansion pack. This will not bring new players to the game. No pretty boxes on the shelves in stores for people to gawk at. In no way does this "fluff" as some have called it, boost or help retain player base. None at all. If they packaged it and put it on store shelves, maybe, but the reality is, its a tough sell with the limited offering it has and in this case might actually sour the MMO community and reviewers on the CoX franchise.

EXPANSION PACKS..... Sure. Properly marketed to build player base.

    [/ QUOTE ]

Well, yeah... that's why I said "above and beyond emotes and re-hashed costume pieces" there

As to $9.99 being steep . . . you should try doing SEXY JAY'S job. He put's a lot of hard work into programming these items. $10. is more than reasonable. programming these things is a <bleep>.

$10 is not only not reasonable, it is outrageous. CoV was released with a MSRP of $50. It contained more than five times as much costume content alone than this "pack".

$5 would not be more reasonable. It would be overpriced at $1. How much people are willing to pay is irrelevant, except when computing the sucker ratio of CoX's subscriber base, which unfortunately appears to be entirely too high.

    [/ QUOTE ]

Isn't this generally true of the entire MMO subscriber base? Not to mention all the "free" MMOs out there that require you to pay gobs of money for items you actually need...
