Im Hungry

For a Hero Sandwich. Thats all you hero's are (with love), nothing but a sandwich.
8ngaHroSndwch here, and I'm a hungry MasterMind.

If you would care to duel in PvP zone or arena send a tell @dantethestoic ummk. Lets have some fun, do "just primary/secondary" battles whatever. Ill even do/have done 2 v me sometimes against some builds (like 2 other MM's in WB), so lets do this.

Sometimes its the villain that gets eaten, not the hero sandwich.

All fun gang

2. Ahh Light Graventite, I have fought you before, and lost mostly hehe "8ngaHroSndwch" you may recall chewing me up a bit as Light Graventite.

A few questions. The other two brutes that you do have Tough with, are they stone armor?
If not stone or fire armor, yeah I would say Tough for sure. I'm pretty sure that stone skin puts you at the resistance cap that Tough would also. Please if you can, look at the numbers of Stone Skin vs Tough, is all I am asking man.

I have found for my stone stone brute that not slotting any attacks for damage, but rather Endo Reduction, Recharge Reduction and accu, plus the taunt slots in my AoE's, I can keep stamina up and just rely on fury for damage.

If you choose to swap out Fighting because of the numbers of stone skin vs tough, then I respectfully recommend Teleport. Its great with Rooted and Granite,to drop into mobs, as a puller and a group travel power ( i have stealth on my stone brute, and will often stealth to end of mission, tp group, and get that mission XP quickly.

I guess about taunt, hey thats your goal, go for it. For PvE, for me, slotting an IO taunt in AoE stuff is just perfect for keeping fury up while not getting too much aggro. I'm not going to serioulsy pvp with a stone stone yet so...
My m8s energy/invun brute has taunt, and he gets himself too much aggro sometimes, and I am left with angry mob I cannot run from hehe.

Please, just asking that you look at the numbers of stone skin and tough. I think you will see that Stone Skin IS your Tough.

The last thing I would ask you play around with is this: Stacking the exact same sets for the same set bonus's more on the armor defensive/resist side of things? It can be worth it later on in the build to six slot something to stack the same set bonus IMVHO.

With my MM, Im swapping around my pet sets so all 3 sets are the same, so I get the same set of bonus's, in my case, recovery and defense. So if you want titanium skin, get it twice so it stacks with itself.

Also I know it is very very expensive, but there are three healing set IO's that give recovery, regen, recovery+regen increases for a small amount of time. For a stone or fire armor, or a good MM, any one or two of these would make you fairly unkillable if the other parts of your build are there.

I know you are a good player at least. Think of what a stone brute could do with increased recovery and regen on top of your bonus's. Ok now stop drooling

PS. You are the only scrapper out there besides the good spine scrapper builds that scares me. Id rather take on any two non spineys scrappers with my MM than you solo, and this is after TP telegankage. I have come across katana, broadsword, dark, other MA's, and pretty much chew them all up. Cheers man! Well done

PPS: you may find in PvE and non hero tanking situations, not wasting an attack animation taunting and rather attacking while taunting may enable you to do more damage over time, because of the aggro you will be drawing to yourself, also the aggro you draw will be right next to you, to smash. Just a thought m8. I'n not very familiar with energy melee, except at the recieving end, so if you do not have three AoE attacks to slot a taunt in, it will be different for ya.
3. Just not sure if you need Tough with Stone Skin? I'd take a close look at those numbers, and maybe drop the fighting pool. To help fury build up on my stone stone brute, I run the brawl constantly.
I also do fine without taunt power itself, and slotting a taunt IO in all my AoE attacks. Keeps the aggro up just perfect. I guess this is a PvP/PvE build? Looks great man!

4. I have to shout out for Ninja's, Thug's and Zombie's. Those sets go great with Traps/Poison/Dark/TrickArrow. Ninjas 2nd tier henchmen can confuse, placate, debuff, hide, do criticals, throw caltrops, they just do so much. The 2rd tier pet also holds, has a brutal Fire Sword, and Rain of Fire.

Thugs, the Gang War and Bruiser with Poison = AV solo'er, I have duo'ed with a few, and watched em basically chop down tall trees while I was picking up tanbark, and I think my build can hang tough mostly. Just massive debuff with the damage and your own personal brute is nice.

Zombie's, all melee mostly, and can also give and take pretty decent damage. They can roll through most mobs with a good build and play style. Just juggernaut style.

For ninja's, if you do go there, lots of "RP" possibilities. Are your ninja and mine in same clan? Lets check tattoo's.
Undead Ninja are also popular.

5. Hi there. I have a stone stone brute, so Im not totally qualified here.
Get Build Up earlier, a lot earlier. Consider dropping the recall friend for TP foe and then TP self. Hasten and Super speed would also be a useful secondary Travel power, and I would personally drop the fighting pool, get granite armor and pick up on the Medicine Pool, Aid Self and Aid other you should fit in your build as soon as you can also. I believe tough and weave dont do much for stone armor set because you are close to the defense cap any ways. Plus its another stamina sucking toggle.

If its in your style of play to "Taunt" then hey get the power. Otherwise, slot taunt in a few of your AoE attacks if you have AoE attacks. That works great for keeping aggro on you.

Get Stone Skin Earlier, I believe that is the Stone armors version of "tough".

6. Hello:

I am not the best or in the "top ten percent" of players, pvpers or MM's.

Today I was able to do TWO separate 2v1's against a set of scrappers and then a pair of MM's all in WB. I beat them both pretty well.
Some strategies and tactics I use:

Two piles of traps: very good in zone pvp, and in duels and 2 v 1's. Keep your acid mortar in between them and your traps about 50 feet apart(outside of melee and a wee bit of space). Pull or push them on to one set of traps, set your pets on aggressive, throw down caltrops and poison trap, and hop over to your next set and rest or lay more traps.
The person coming over to you will be soo intent on causing you damage they will likely rush in. Boom off go's your second trip mine and poison trap. Hop back and let your pets go aggro again while opponent is puking.
Even if someone SSpeeds by a poison trap they will likely puke once. Thats the time to lay down caltrops and web nade while pets are in aggro mode. Keep your traps at 85 % recharge or above. They gota be there to work.

The other thing I do is "Fake NON BG MODE" where I send a few ninja at the opponent, or all of them for just a second. The goal is to confuse the enemy and make them think you are fragile with low HP. It works great, just be quick on the keyboard draw McGraw.

Im able to "Rest" power a lot during PvP matches. FTW often. How? Because of webnade/caltrops/poison trap massive- recharge stack. I was able to slow attack speed over 140$ between poison trap and caltrops without counting webnade. A good trap MM is a mini partial Ice/Kin because of this. Its a major strength for trappers in any extended PvP battle. Stop/Slow your opponent with caltrops n webnade and drop it at their feet.

Run Tactics! Between the to hit buff and the acid mortar/ninja debuff, they will always get hit. Gotta chip away those Granites somehow.

TP Foe is also critical to the game plan. I recommend you get it as a trapper as soon a comfortable in your build, but before lvl 32 if you can. Its a great puller and insta killer. I slot it with IO:Range because between my set accu bonus and tactics, its hitting fairly well.

Remember in PvP, space and time are your friends, so create them. Space between you, your traps, and your opponent, and Time, slow them down all you can, so you can continue to spam traps.

I have not really used the seeker drones very much. They need to be slotted a little bit more to be more effective. Drones are used when somebody is about to stop puking or start moving, because then when they attack, I want their -ACC to be maxed while Im waiting for recharge.

Again, as soon as they puke, go aggressive. It works. Generally between one minimum to 5 or 6 puke animations while they cannot do squat to you. Take advantage.

Also, to telegank, you must have Range and get rid of your beacon/FFG. TPing any foe to six trip mines and poison trap should give you time to drop a bubble after words.

Fire Tanks and Brutes I cannot beat at all. Having no defense to debuff and poison resist makes all my main tools useless. And TPing one to my max stack of mines just scratches them if they have a decent build. Props to you Fire Armor Melee types, you all are on to something and thank you for the ten minute plus battles!

Hope these ravings help

7. Not very accurate as to what was added at what level, please look to the finished rough product. Also, I couldnt add Positrons Blast to the Acid Mortar, or one of the traps which will effect my build set bonus' negatively.

Again, its my first time using hero builder. Also it would not accept a set in a trap.

Please critique. I was pwning a few heros today in RV. Quite a few matches were ten seconds or less.

Picture this.. Under the Globe in RV. I ask a "fillinblank(exceptfirearmor)" to duel. "Ready".. "Ready"
TP foe to 4+ mines and poison trap. Click Click Boom!
8. Well the Decimation: Chance just does not help me right now. I could see a scrapper or brute, or ranged attack player (corru) using it usefully. I was better off with a "range" IO in there to pull from a bit of distance .

I have three set bonus accuracy of nine 9% percent right now to my "powers". Does this mean my ninja's have a base 27% accu bonus because they are my "powers"? With the three stacked accuracy bonus's and Tactics, I expect TP Foe to hit a few times. I may pop a yellow. We'll see on that one. I kinda want to keep Tactics three slotted. In case I choose to get Acrobatics, running all the toggles I think Ill need to. Its worth it to me to get a toggle or two "drain free".

TP Foe, range and Accu. Ill probably respec tonite with a screenie or two of my current build at hand.

I hope Im not forced to sell that build up. I can think of a few brutes..

Having Taunt and Placate Resist stacked helps a lot in PvP against brutes and stalkers. The ranged and AoE defense totally helps in pvp and just hopping around in Grandville.
Now, Im really thinking about trying to snag some badges for accolades. A MM with accolades and set bonus's for PvP. MM Im getting Hungry for a sandwich!

Special Thanks to all who were on team last night in Recluse on Union. It was sheer pwnage so badly! Loved it!

10. Thank you for the replies gang. I have only played this one MM, the ninja trapper, so my thread title is a bit..expansive.

I can see as a trapper or FF Mastermind, potentially using less stamina than a poison or dark, truly I dont have the personal build experience to say. Thank you for your input on other MM secondaries and Stamina Sitriel.

Generally I run ruthless or relentless difficulty. Ruthless lets me not do the "pull/setuptrapshop " game as much, and with Relentless, yeah a few more web nades, and trip mines, and a bit more stamina used in the process.

I would have slotted stuff like WebNade and Caltrops with Endo reductions, there just isnt room for them with "Pacing of the Turtle" and Traps of the Hunter" Complete Sets.
That was another reason I had to focus on stamina recovery with my MM. Because as Inercia noted, WebNade is thirsty. And slotting one or two endo reductions would ease my stamina woes a lot. Because I dont "pull" every mob, I need my traps to be there for me, so I can keep rolling. hence Acid Mortar, Poison Trap, ect are all slotted with Three Recharges, and just NO room for endo reductions.

I just didnt want to "waste" two powers to get to a third, and with the IO set bonus's its a no brainer.

I do run out of stamina in LLOOONG PvP matches. I just throw down some Caltrops and hit the rest button.. Presto! Stamina back! Its always good for some spectator chuckles to see someone resting during a PvP match, while the other one is high stepping in place, being harassed by 5 angry ninja and one hot Oni!

Im not running out during EB or single AV fights.

I did have some issues with a "secret " Council mission where we had to kill FIVE AV's in a row... Yeah ran out then.. But I wasnt alone baybee..

11. A Mastermind IMVHO relies on his pets and his secondary to defeat foes. Since constant buffing/summoning/secondary casting can be quite draining in battle, it seems that stamina is unavoidable.

I have a ninja trap MM. It felt like as I went from lvl 35-36 up to lvl 39, the trap set just kept getting a little more endo heavy. Now all my "Main" traps are slotted with three recharges first, because I want my traps to be ready for use. This allows a bit of battlefield mobility and not being forced to wait for a recharge and pull every mob.

With that being done, the stamina bar was being sucked down quickly in every battle.

I had just respec'd my MM< and the fitness pool was no where to be found in my build. Stamina was becoming a major issue.

IO set bonus' give between a 1% to 2.5% percent boost to stamina recovery. Lets try to focus on the sets that can give 2.5% boost to recovery, and remember, its not about completing a set, its about the set bonus that you want, AND stacking the same bonus to good effect.

Most MM's have some form of healing. Aid Self and Aid other are common MM power picks.

Slot any 2 "Miracle" healing sets in both Aid Self and Aid Other. = Instant 5% stamina recovery boost. Go for the ones you can afford and will enhance your power of course.

The "Positrons Blast" set also gives a 2.5 recovery bonus, for just 2 IOs in the same set. Slot two in one power, and two in another= a 5% boost in recovery

So for 8 slots, 4 powers, we can easily and relativly cheaply end up with a 10% recovery boost to stamina.

There are a few other sets that give a 1.5% percent boost. Stacking two of those when you can fit it in your build is also great. Just try to get your MM's recovery above 10%. To a level where you can feel it. My MM has almost 15 % recovery now, a mini Stamina. And yes I feel it. The blue is there a lot more now, leading to more Ninja and trap goodness, and not waiting for the blue to lay down some damage.

The Miracle Healing also gives a nice health increase as a third set bonus, so it is worth triple slotting the Miracle if it fits into your build concept.

With my MM and sets, I go for the set bonus I want to stack.
Having 3 ranged defense set bonus does help a bit. One does not do a thing. Please, dont go for a set bonus unless you plan on stacking it three or more times.

Some set bonus give accuracy as a bonus, I wouldnt try to go for a lot of improved accuracy set bonus, as they will come into play on thier own, based on sets you want.

If you do get the recovery bonus, and still need stamina, consider how many toggles you run, how they are slotted ( a third endo redu in Tactics or Acrobatics could make a difference. Try turning off toggles betweeen mobs.

I hope this lil mini guide helps. MMs should let the pets do the work! Stamina =NOOO

12. Wow! Lvl 39, Still happy with my respec all those levels ago, a great base to build with.
All my main traps (mortar, poison trap, caltrops) are slotted for recharge. Stamina was an issue in PvP always, and in looong battles in PvE. Well smart slotting for recovery, and three slotting tactics for endo reduction have helped "turn the corner" so to speak. I have about a 10% recovery bonus from IO sets, and it does help a bit. Im feeling it now.

MMs , dont get stamina, your pets should do the work, a few "Miracle" healing or "Positron Blast" in a few powers can give you a noticible bump, without a huge cost by not focusing on completeing a set, but rather going for the "Set Bonus".

The other aspect of IO set bonus' Im going for is defense. Since Ninjas have a great damage output, its balanced with them having a very low defense. The bubble helps a bit, Manuvers stacks a little, but set bonus, like Range, and AoE are what I am trying to go for. Any that get in close get a web nade or some sorta trap, and I have issues in PvP with ranged and AoE in straight up duels sometimes.

Poison maybe better than traps for PvP, because it gives some mobility. Its countered by having over 130% slow attack rate with just two traps, and a great defensive FFG. Cant attack= cant do damage, thats an easy one!

Also, at high lvls (40+) other types of pets may be stronger, it seems that the Ninjas and Oni just have a massive damage output, with tricks n traps to go with them (placate, confuse, hide, defense debuff, hold ect). Plus they run really quick and drop caltrops. It just goes with traps so well.

Still able to solo just about anything on relentless. I have recruited a thug/poison once or thrice to help with some harsh AV-age.

I feel my MM is a great team player, he buffs defense, can and does heal non pets, and debuffs and makes the baddies puke. IMVHO a good asset!

Some builds pwn me still, but I am a wee wee bit tougher with the stacked set bonus' of defense and recovery.

13. Have a team attitude, one of being positive, being adaptable, and being smart, send a tell to @dantethestoic
Lets do this. Ill lackey or malefactor, its all fun and good
14. Well thanks man I spent an hour just on the respec it seemed. Now with the stacked set IO bonus's its just a lil bit easier.
Love to play with you man! Fun! Hajima-Ipon

Coral Essex also!
15. Up to 97+ now, trying to crack a 100!
Its a rock paper scissors thing most 2/3rds of the time
Some builds, I pwn, others PWN me, in the 1 v 1 Warburg Game.

A fire secondary brute ..toyed with me last night, he said he would save me for last, and he did. Massive poison resist and heals, because mortar and poison didnt stop him!

Your

16. I was PvPing against a fire secondary tank last night. Could not beat him at all. The only AT that took more than one poison trap, and shrugged it off, and the debuff mortar didnt really seem to affect him at all. He basically toyed with me and my minions. I couldnt hurt him at all quick enough to kill him.
The fire secondary may be a late bloomer, but it PWNED my Ninja Trap MM totally. I was...useless.
And yes it was a bit end heavy for the fire armor tank, so he jsut took mine..
17. Well one caltrop did not slow nearly as much as glue arrow. However, a brute found it hard to run on FIVE piles o caltrops, from ninjas, plus mine. He was high stepping in place then, until he puked. OGodtheRats and I were gonna tag team him, but I felt the brute was a bit too confident after his runupandgank move when I stated "dueling" ( the trap vs arrow duel) without pets... Now an Electric brute could have would have should have easily owned me...

Dammm that acid mortar just does not miss! Please do not slot it for accuracy, as soon as it hits, they melt..

18. Wow, My rep is 83+ now!
Still level 35, and all in Warburg. even getting ganked while setting up pets, or asking for duels. Just loving it.
And when I do die, they are puking from my poison trap on my corpse, something I tease em for.

So Fun! I have to get tele gank, oops TP foe..

19. I would slot web nade with one accu and one end reduction only, unless you PvP. A range in it may be nice also. Your play style will dictate.

Caltrops I slotted for two recharge, one end reduction and one slow (slow slotted for after Poison Trap). It slows em down a lot at stock without slow slotting. I can throw em down while the first pile is still there.
The mortar, please do not slot for accuracy or damage, slot it with three recharges ASAP, then three Defense Debuffs ASAP. It is a cornerstone of the trapper game. I have seen it miss once in PvP, against a Super Reflex Scrapper. Cant remember it missing in PvE. It may have missed a Hero, once..Basically you need it to debuff for your pets and take a bit of aggro.
FFG, get ASAP, slot for three defense buffs ASAP.
I have a ninja trap MM. I choose aimed shot slotted with one range as my puller. A range in it helps break up the aggro a bit, I have found.

Poison Trap, again three recharge ASAP, and then three Holds.

My mindset with traps is this = They are no good to you if they are not there to use. So slot for recharge first. Better to have a mortar up and running than waiting for it, and wishing it was there while you run away.

I have not played with the seeker drones, and just got trip mines ( glad I got them and not the seekers so far no regrets).
You can totally avoid the fitness pool.
I recommend leaping for CJ and acro, if you can fit acro in your build. Your pets should have superleap, so super jump shouldnt be a problem.
Aid Self and Aid other, well you are gonna need em. Slot both for interupt reduction, then heal or recharge.

As a trap MM, I find myself benifitting from the Leadership pool a lot.I choose Manuvers to stack with the FFG, and later on choose Tactics for the perception (Night Widows, Bone Spiders, PvP, ect). It has totally increased my pets damage output by increasing the to hit chance, and it seems to sort of stack with the acid mortar. With tactics and the mortar defense debuff, the ninja's just cannot miss it seems.
Without trying for a PvP build, or having tp foe, my MM has quickly got a 83.+ PvP rep, and mostly I just sit back , hop up and down, and lay down traps. The heroes don't like to fair 1 v 1 duel "8ngaHroSndwch" at all in Warburg, but hey..
Hope this helps..

20. I have a level 33 Ninja Trap MM. IMVHO, Web Nade needs only one slot for accuracy for PvE. PvP totally different story.
Caltrops dont need to be slotted for slow, they slow down enough at stock.

With traps, you want them to be there, so slot your caltrops with one or two recharges, 1 endo reduction, and you should be ok through lvl 30+

Acid mortar: Slot for recharge ASAP, get three in there so it will be available. Three debuffs next. Its job it to tank and take aggro for you, and make things easier to hit and damage. It cant do it if its not there, and it wont debuff like it can if not slotted for it. 3 recharge 3 debuff
FFG- Slot for 3 defense, all I would advise.
Poison Trap: Slot for 3 recharge, then a hold or two if you can drop the slots, well worth it. With poison trap slotted 3 hold, My MM does mayhems on Ruthless, SOlo, and goes to the bank with out pets, plants the trap and trops, and summons while the longbow pukes... Working 3 in a row so far like that.
Aid Self and Aid Other are Highly recommended(slot both for decrease interupt time first). Stamina is a MUST if you run leadership pool, all I would get is manuvers and tactics.
Manuvers because it stacks with your bubble and tactics for the perception and accuracy bonus. It also stacks with your mortar debuff nicely, while manuvers and tactics buff you.

All my pets have 6 slots ASAP, my traps like mortar, poison trap, FFG, are slotted for recharge first when applicable, then three of whatever they do best ( defense, debuff, hold).

With a build focused on pets n traps, tactics and aid self and other (only aimed shot my only attack from pool), I have been able to get my 1st PvP badge without really building for PvP, able to do mayhems on ruthless so easy, and basically tank through any thing I have come across since poison trap.

Poison trap will hold a boss, it is better than choking cloud and a few other PBAoE powers for that, dont skip it.
The only trap I have skipped so far is triage beacon...for medicine pool.

To sum it up, dont get personal attacks, if you must, slot for range to use as a puller into your traps. Slot your pets 6 asap, and the traps you use (mortar 3 rech 3 debuff, FFG 3 defense, Poison trap 3 recharge 3 hold), slot for recharge first so they are there.. cant stress that enough..DONT slot your acid mortar for accuracy. Its pretty accurate, it rarely missed even in PvP.

Hope this was somewhat articulate and helped a bit.

PS - get tactics! get manuvers ! get stamina!
21. I really want to! I have a ninja trap MM on the union. Would roll a toon for defiant if I had to. Likely a thug trapper or ice trapper, just to ...keep them in the zone.

22. I have a level 31 MM(ninja trap). I am very inexperienced PvP. Was in Warburg other day with a lvl 50 Ice/Rad. We PvP, I won 4 outaa 6 I think, one being a sorta draw, with him dying a split sec after me from DoT.
Slot Hasten if its in yer build, and slot those main ones (poison trap, acid mortar, trip mine) with THREE recharges ASAP to keep em up. A choking cloud power or artic air could definetly effect a trap MM style play. oops its about Corruptors!

jared lets team up and stack the traps!

23. Just took on an ice/rad corru in Warburg, he was lvl 50 @38 , I was lvl 30 @ 38.
I think he beat me twice, one of em being pretty simultaneous deaths, and then I beat him 3 in a row. Ninja traps for the win!
Tactics and the acid mortar really felt like they were making the difference. As soon as the mortar hit this guy, the damage was soaked up it seemed. And my ninjas could not miss at all with the debuff and tactics running. I had recently respeced my MM "8ngaHroSndwch" (eating a Hero Sandwich) and was very pleased with his PvE results. I had never experienced the carnage of traps PvP!

The bubble stacked my way along with the mortar and tactics, it was fierce. At times, I felt like I could have took his side kick also. Making em puke with the poison trap is nice also!

Hehe!
Jared, lets drink tequila and do this!
