I am fifty percent Serious about the Alley Cats Biker gang.
-
Like seriously we could all get in a V formation and just go beast-running down the streets and harassing little old ladies

This game needs a real alleycat biker gang like what.

Hey there, How's it hangin'? my Name's Premmy, mind if I come in?
Ooh, this is a nice crew you've got, what're ya, Crime-fighters? Paranormal Investigators? Heroes-for-hire? Bounty Hunters? whatever, doesn't matter, really. Man, I like this set up.
*flops down on the couch and puts his feet on the coffee table*
I see you got your Psychic over there, Your Fire-flinger, howyadoin' buddy? Oh, you got your big super-strong guy, over there bench-pressin' cars. Hey you even got a Gadget-guy! Hey, buddy, think you can check out my cellphone after you're done with that....ray.. gun.. thingy?
Hmmm, Man... tsktsktsk You know, this is NICE but.. I don't know, Feels like something's missing.
You know what you need?
*Snaps fingers, Blue man walks into the room*
Fishman
I mean he can do all the aquatic stuff, he-
Dude, seriously, Space
So anyway, Ryz(Rise),(that's what you can call him, by the way) is great, he can breathe underwater and swim fast as a shark.
And I know what you're think'n, "Oh, Water guys are useless on land, can't even fly!"
But he's got these crazy water-magic tricks, and he can Surf on dry Land!
cool, right?
He's, Like, an expert with knives and swords, don't ask me how, though
Like a friggin' ninja with those things. AND he's got this electric feild, yeah, just like an eel!
Oh yeah, if you see that other guy, Keep them away from each other, they do NOT get along, SHEESH.
And to top all that, he glows in the dark! who've you got that glows in the dark, Mr. Johnny Storm wannabe over there? He doesn't glow, he's on fire, that's a hazard. Ryz here's got safe, all natural 100% environmentally friendly 80% non-toxic bioluminesence
So what D'ya-
LOOK MAN, BACK UP FOR A SECOND!
*sigh* Yeah, he's got issues with being nosy. Anyways, real loyal, real noble guy, will do whatever you say as long as you follow the rules, which YOU get to set, by the way.
We got a deal?
(( So basically I've made this new character and I want to put him in with an Active RPSG. I don't want to join any of the other "Atlantis" or "Aquatic"(if those are out there) themed groups because
1: He's just completely unrelated to Atlantis in any form
2: I have specal snowflake syndrome and want to be the only or one of very few Aquatic characters in the group
His in-game name is Aqua-edge(Though his personal Name is Ryz Sefod), a level 20 Praetorian Dual Blades-electric armor magic-origin scrapper
He woke up deep underwater after being put to sleep for many eons, only to wake up when the Hamidon wars made the human population dive like... like a submarine(it's magic, more details if you want) when he surfaced the Praetors fished him out of the sea , taught him english and hooked him on their society. Unfortunately Ryz has a very strict code of servitude that hinges on you( the master) proclaiming your core ideals. Anything he does for you can't contradict that or else he's going to sail away. All the moral ambiguity of Praetoria was too much for him, so he jumped ship.
He's got what I like to call Chronic samurai Syndrome, he NEEDS a Lord to serve honorably, and basically will float from one to the next if the code is broken
He's from a very different time and frequently has to ask questions about simple social concepts, like sarcasm
He has a very logical mind which makes weird decisions due to holes in his knowledge
Tends to stare, get to close, and pretend(badly) he understands what you're saying even if he doesn't
Fights with swords and knives, uses natural bio-electricity to defend himself, and can do minor forms of magic with water and ice.
Inspirations.. Should be fairly obvious
plus any Fish-out-of-water character

So I was rolling my latest experiment as a tanker, and was having a good time with mobs swarming around me when it occurred t me that He wasn't really suited to soaking up damage like a sponge and plodding ahead like a tank. He was suited to a lithe and agile form of combat. Luckily his exact same powers were available as a scrapper, and he was low level enough to not feel Like I was wasting my time so I re-rolled him and have been loving it.
My question to you, the player is this. When designing character concepts do you put more weight into the playstyle and power of the AT or do you focus more on getting the power sets you want.
Nowadays every power is designed to be able to fit every AT it applies to but previously this wasn't so and quite a few "Staple" powersets and combinations are locked forever(As far as we know) to certain ATs, You're probably never going to get to make that Fire or Ice melee stalker you wanted.
With New customization options you CAN make a Martial Arts Stalker with X Fire-looking aura(there's at least three I can name off the top of my head) set to combat on the fists and BLAMMO! you got yourself some fire melee, heck, you've got fire melee that's more subtle, with flashier animations to boot.
Another way to frame this question:
If forced to pick between the AT you think fits your character, and the powers you want them to have, which do you choose? -
Going the FMA route(I HAVE finished the books so nyah nyah Techbot ;p)You can pretty much just eliminate the Tech aspect, as any technology used in the process will be specifically simple devices, magic devices, or devices that use whatever you're calling Alchemy over complicated real-world(or comic-book science)ergo: more magic.
Edit: Sorry but Had to go further into things, FMA, while it goes it's own way, DOES represent the concept of Alchemy best, A Crossroads between Magic and Chemistry. So in this instance, Replacing "Chemistry" with "Science" though you'll find the explicit wording of science origin in this game would in my opinion eliminate it from the concept altogether. Technology doesn't even come into play without machinery, and as said before magic more or less picks up the slack that complicated things like atom smashers would do.
So it's between Science and Magic, from here, you have to look at how you apply origins. I tend to go by what is used for the majority of the powers, Generally the Primary as a leading rule. In cases where that might not apply( mostly masterminds or weapon-users) I go to what definitively counts as a "Power" I.e. "My character has magic super reflexes, but uses a sword to actually get things done" So going by the primary I'd label that character a "Natural" because swords are simple enough objects to not count as super(usually) but super-reflexes is a power of magic origin in this context so he'd be magic
Basically All other origins>Natural when they come up against each other in most situations for me
For your Idea, a Mercs/Poison MM, unless he's using mind control chemicals(and really, even then because that just plays off the secondary) We'll throw the Mercs out the window as "natural" for considering his origin and I'd have to ask how he's using the chemicals. Poison usually is shown coming from the character's body and I don't see many ways of getting around that. So, Is he magically changing his body's chemistry through alchemy, or was he scientifically altered to create poisons and he uses alchemy to mix the chemicals? -

So Let's to business and talk about for-pay costume parts themed around aminals that I'm most definitely going to buy on our online vidjamagame about comic book superheroes instead of this dorky stuff being said by you collassal dorks in this dorky conversation.
Costume Change emotes, which'uns fit the theme?
As a Side note, Anybody else feel like the Energy morph costume change emotein the Mutant pack was sort of making up for the ones that hadn't been created in the Cyborg pack? it just seems so Terminator. -
I'm going to 1/2 /Sign this and just suggest they make a slew of whirling blade weapons for Claws

Hold on, I got something for this conversation, something right here, give me a second....
HERE it is!

Quote:They're hints at animal stuff, they're notThe bird pic and canine pic on FB and the Vanguard Pack pic in various places are a bit more than hints, I'd say. Also, SDragon was referring to DumpleBerry's post, not mine, just to keep the thread straight.
Quote:THIS IS TE AMINAL PACK GO BUY NAO!" -
You've just been downed by a yellow-conning enemy mob. A Hellion or Outcast or something else that demoralizes you. as you lay there on the ground, your team rushes in, just as you fall and continue the good fight.
You look up at the enemies that took you down, cackling. They may feel good, they took down a powerful hero, or a fearsome villain, but there's one thing they don't know.. You're half a bar from leveling. DING!
Now you're on your feet, health and Endurance at full, All of them con blue or white now and you've got all the Big Inspirations ALL of them!
what time is it?
WHAT

this would be awesome combined with, say a robotic arm and/or a combat aura set to right fist. -
some of the boosters went to test, But I think that was mostly to test out the power, and/or some brand new never before done aspect of the pack.
If this pack is what I think it is(new, but not ground breaking costume peices+ A ninja run clone+ the prerequisite emotes), it might just go straight to live, or it might be in private beta right now and go to live without open. All that said I feel like open beta is definitely good advertising for the pack. People get to sample and even build awesome things with the new features then go on live and feel depressed that they can't use them so they buy the pack. -
Ideally these would come with customizable effects as well.
So you'd have
Legacy
Bright
Dark
*insert other customization specific to power here*
Reactive Bright
Reactive Dark. -
So seeing the Praetorian Police and their energy armor got me thinking.
What if there was an option to set the effects for any defense sets to only activate when attacked? Something like combat auras but only when your character takes or defends or resists damage, so you could have, say a fire aura character who only was covered in flames when attacked, to show him immediately burning away attacks against him. Or even better a Regen character who only showed healing auras or effects when struck to display him/her recovering from the attacks. -
I suggested once in the Power effects/ Animations thread that In addition to the current, "every Hide looks the same except for some minor effects" option, we have Hide animations/effects options more directly tied to each power-set So Dark Armor's Hide would be the Same as Cloak of Darkness, Electric Armor's would be the Same as Power Surge, Energy Aura's hide would be the same as Energy Cloak, this would naturally make Willpower, Ninjitsu, Super reflexes, Regeneration, and Invulnerability come with min fx versions that might have a unique animations to them(such as Ninjitsu's hide making you take the ninja run pose, Super Reflexes having you back-flip into a crouch, e.t.c.)
