I just think it's weird to have a mask over your mask

It serves no protective purpose, it's just there to evoke a Greek soldier because of where his powers came from.
And I think adding some Eagle-themed silvery white armbands/bracers and a silvery white metal belt to replace the utility belt would better serve that concept, (Think Wonder Woman) while solving the problem of his patriotic "All American Hero" costume not having enough white to really sell the idea for me.
  3. You know, Looking at Tyrant's armor costume, I think taking some bits form it would do a great job of Fixing my few qualms about Statesman's look.
Taking the Utility belt off and adding a silver/white metallic one, Putting silver/white armbands and chin gaurds, keeping the cape, making the Face-plate helmet go back a bit more over the head, just enough to look like it's staying on with something other than fishing line, magic, or spirit gum, and tak. away the under-mask. Keep the cape, Ditch Tyrants chest armor. BAM, perfect look for Statesman. It also would represent his "Tank" concept better.

He has metal mostly as style elements, Unlike Recluse,Tyrant, or Reichsman his mirrors, he doesn't need armor.

Great job. I'm just amazed at the speed of the response here and the respect shown to the player base. It's why I still play this game. Good job, devs.
  5. Premonitions

    NPC Redesign.

If I was going to re-design the trolls, I'd want to keep the "Gang of crazy roid-freak teens" thing while maybe playing up the "Victims of chemical abuse" angle as well.

  7. Not only that, but I'm not seeing anything about the New CoT costumes (Aside from maybe Some ultra-mode textures, maybe auras?) about the new costumes that was impossible in the early game, so much so that they'd start with something so completely different and then make this. Haven't tights and spiky shoulders existed in-game since launch?

    Rocket Boards?

David, I think you are severely misinterpreting this poster's statement.

We all get the "No Physical Ice" bit and have no serious problems with it, there are lots of visual "Cheats" to something like that, such as a robust path aura that hides the feet The question is, if a "Slide" power could be implemented that would use the same physics as a Character who is sliding on ice in frozen areas(Such as the Ski Chalet) or oil patches in Port Oakes. Possibly with the ability to rise. The More or less unstoppable forward motion, the wide turning arc, the somewhat higher speed.

The idea of a rocket-board power opens up a lot of Creative potential if applied less as a one-off fancy bit and more as a real pool with customization

Another thing to consider is the possibility of re-using Flying attack animations, the issue would then be making the effect/object draw under the feet while doing so, but that doesn't seem like too much of an art hurdle, considering path auras. Simply have the character hover a few inches off their board/ice slide/flying rock/giant bat-thing whilst attacking then revert back to their "Surf" animation mode.Or more logically, just stand on it, it's a surface, you stand on surfaces, why not just use the "Ground" animations?
    Power-Set: Sliding
With your hover board, hunk of ice, or flying(Insert thing here) you slide and zip around the city
Power 1:(Taking into account new movement power rules in i21)
    Surf:
    Toggle Power:
This would be the "Getting around the city" power, not a good idea to use indoors(unless you're just nuts like that, in which case, good luck, man) Basically the mechanics of sliding on ice, turning radius and all, with the ability to levitate(Hover in place) whenever you stop and a speed higher than Flight's base but lower than Afterburners allows for vertical movement like flight, but only when traveling forward (I.e. you can't just jump straight up but have to be traveling forward and going up)
The idea here is it's high speed is balanced by it's hard to manage controls and singular use, it's only good for getting around town, really.
Power 2: Skim:Toggle Power: Similar to Ninja run with a bonus to run and jump speed(but less so) a less pronounced slide-type turning radius and delayed stop possibly with a secondary buff to defense.

    Power 3:
Kick-Flip:Passive Auto Power: The ability to perform a single, Steam-Punk jump-pack-esque Double jump whilst in the air, so long as no other Slide toggles are active
(You make the ice, Pull out your hoverboard/e.t.c and jump off it)
That's all I can think of at the moment, but I'm trying to come up with ideas based on existing game mechanics.

Obviously some kind of "attack" and a fifth power are needed. Just a thought
  9. I like how
"Hey, it'd be nice if we could hear about upcoming changes sooner"
    Became
"Devs MUST do what we say ALWAYS"
Because when I read the OP, I thought
"Yeah, Releasing concept art early is a great way to build hype and devs can choose to listen to the feedback, unofficially, or not"
But it's good I was told what this thread really is about.

    Bless your heart, strawman.
  10. You know what I want? You know what I REALLY want? I want every signature hero/villain to have "Off the Clock" outfits as well as costumes, like Tyrant. Seriously.
  11. Hey, It was the best-looking Manticore a quick google-search revealed.

  12. Favorites:

Synapse and Neuron: Yea I love me some Speedsters. The gloves scream some kind of power enhancing blasters or maybe just Protectors for when he goes careening off course, either way,I like that And Synapse's symbol is just boss.
Mako: I also love me some sharks. Nobody Exemplifies who and what they are more than Mako, in my opinion. Mako's gonna eaaat yoooooou.
Scirocco: I WANT HIS HAIR GIMME GIMME GIMME!*Ahem* Nice combo of different Motiffs, both Super-heroic and Eastern.
Lord Recluse: Even without the Arms his costume, with the big furry shoulders and large upper body partnered with the bulkier lower body and bare mid-section screams his spider-motiff while the whole package perfectly encapsulates the "Doctor Doom" status he holds.

    In-Betweens:

    Back-Alley Brawler:
The "Not Costume" look works for him, but I'm just bugged by some elements he has. Maybe gloves that go up more of his hands, and don't stick out as much as his do(think Jax from mortal Combat or some of BaBs's Early designs) maybe a jacket, maybe some more color. Something, no idea what. Maybe some Biker Influence, or Black Panther(The Group, not the character) He could use a nice hat.
    Statesman:
I get it. Super-man+Captain America, with some Greek influence.
It just doesn't work as a unique personality. It looks exactly like it's inspirational parts(The Mask can look incongruous) and nothing more.

I like his silhouette, I just think some little things could be changed. Why does he wear the mask/cowl AND the faceplate? One or the other, preferably just the face-plate. Plus, It makes him more human to have a head of hair and a real human face behind the plate, similar to Super-man's Completely mask-less design. His Patriotic Costume is lacking more white, maybe silver, to match the mask. Maybe in the gloves, maybe some more bits of white in the Pattern. His "Star" is too generic. Something unique, if only just a "Shield" shape for it to sit in. His cape? awesome. Leave it the frack alone.
His belt..... Maybe there's some lore reason the Flying Brick character is wearing a utility belt. But it just kills the whole look. A new belt would be an excellent place to add in some more white.

Ghost Widow: She just looks like a regular Widow to me. But a ghost, pretty much straightforward. Not a bad look, I like Arachnos in General, just, eh, whatever.

Maelstrom: no idea, but I just don't like him for some reason. In my head I think it's an allright costume, but when I look at it, Something about it bugs me.

    Hates:
    Manticore:

Ugh, Sooo much that could be done with this character concept and what? nothing, simple Leather Jumpsuit, Generic pattern, equally generic Symbol, and a silly hat/mask.
    Seriously He doesn't evoke THIS
    This

    Or this:

At ALL, and those are the things he's made up of.
    some suggestions.
I feel like there's a few ways to go with this Character
1: Fully wear the Gadgeteer concept
2: Fully wear the Mythic Animal Motiff
    3:Fully Wear the Archer Motiff
4: Put it all together and make it work.

I'm going to try and go with 4

Wear the weapon: If the Bow is to be his signature, He should visually represent it. I should see it on him and it should be part of his silhouette. It doesn't Have to be slung over his back or anything, but It would be nice, looking like a scorpion tail, poised to sting.Or, have it worn on his belt and trail behind him slightly, Consider the new "Hooded Green Arrow" Look for the "mane" idea to still work(Plus, it's iconic for archers).

Maybe some kind of armored bits, clawed type arm-guards to emphasize the lion idea more, maybe a light chest-plate

Not only does that add to the "Batman" look, but it adds to the theme. Mane, Claws, sting, maybe have a Pointy, tooth-like mask over his face to complete the set. that kind of blends to the shadows of his hood(Took forever to find something close)

He could just wear the quiver on his back, to prevent over-dose of different stuff in one outfit. Just make it slung low so it doesn't mess up his over-all outline from the front. Even better if it's partially hidden by the hood.
  13. Premonitions

    Rocket Boards?

Different colors of the red board currently used. I have a character who'd LOVE a rocket board, but his color scheme is blue. The option to select X Flying slide power and get Y amount of color versions of it (Similar to Vets Unlocking prestige sprints) would be great

    Flying Discs
    Magic Carpet
    Something like these
  14. I might be working then, but I'll try and get my laptop fixed and make it
  15. Recent reveals have me a bit troubled, concerning Power customization. Sets like Kinetic melee, Titan Weapons, Street Justice, Powers like the hoverboard, as well as Path Auras. All of them look like they are going to be (or ARE) excellent, but all of them seem like they could have just as well been Customization options for Energy Melee, Larger Weapons for various weapon sets (Warmace, Battle Axe. Broad Sword, and Katana, to be exact) Animation Customization for Martial Arts, and Full-on Travel Power Customization for pools respectively

What I'd really like to hear is that someone, some how, somewhere in Paragon Studios is doing something involving power customization. Not just listening to player requests, and ideas, but actually doing something. Would it be at all possible to receive any word in that regard? I don't need to know, what they're doing, how they're doing it, who they are, what they had for breakfast, what their mother's maiden name is, or anything else like that. I just want to know something is getting done in that department. I would hate to find out, (or worse, be in the dark forever and continue to hope for something that won't be) that it was decided to be a dead end and the new mentality is "Make a new power-set/power/aura for that" When it comes to greater customization in the realm of powers.

As for what I'd like to see? I feel like customization of basic themes for standard sets to fit as wide a variety as possible is the way to go. Allowing the regular players to, in theory, make anything a VIP player or Premium can make, but not as cool, not as detailed, not as close to their true idea. Right now with Martial Arts I can make a non-kung-fu character easily. I can't make something as cool and detailed and full of new flash as Street Justice, but I can make my idea come to life. Even better new and fancier animations don't have to be added to "Premium" sets as those would be one of the primary appeals to them, in addition to new and exciting game-play features

Let's start with what I'd like to call

    "Customization Proliferation"

With the second round of Power customization you added the ability to have powers that had traditionally fired from the head/eyes/mouth fire from the hands instead, freeing up quite a lot of powers for new concepts. Unfortunately the reverse couldn't be said. Quite a lot of dragons were very sad on that day.

Super strength and martial arts received new striking animations, with punches and kicks added. The elemental sets? not so much.
    Two words:

I think a first good step(And I know this isn't particularly an effects issue, but I know some effects would have to be modified to allow for these ideas) would be to get a selection of "Standard" animations into the wide range of elemental Powers, Kicks from Martial Arts, Punches from Energy Melee(and others) and Super Strength, Breath attacks from Sonic, "Mind" attacks from Mental and PSI sets, and of course "Eye blast" animations and effects to the various "elemental" sets they would be appropriate to.

The Closest thing now would be taking Super Strength, MA, or Energy melee and putting in the appropriate combat aura, which often isn't available until level thirty for the vast majority of players, and in the case of kicks, really isn't a proper option.

I'd like to see Martial Arts Kick(as well as Fighting, Brawl and Even Foot-stomp where appropriate) Animations for:
    1. Energy Melee
    2. Electric Melee
    3. Dark Melee
    4. Fiery Melee
    5. Ice Melee
    6. Earth Melee
    7. Energy Manipulation
    8. Ice Manipulation

    14. Fiery Assault
    15. Icy Assault
    16. Electricity Assault
    17. Energy Assault
    18. Psionic Assault
Punching from martial Arts, Energy melee, Super Strength, and Powers like flurry(for cones), boxing and brawl for
    1. Electric Melee
    2. Dark Melee
    3. Fiery Melee
    4. Ice Melee
    5. Earth Melee
    6. Ice Manipulation

    10. (Upcoming) Darkness Manipulation
    11. Earth Assault
    12. Fiery Assault
    13. Icy Assault
    14. Psionic Assault
I'd Like to see Mouth/Breath Attack animations(Such as from Sonic, Fire, and Ice sets) For
    1. Fire Blast
    2. Electrical Blast
    3. Dark Blast
    4. Energy Blast
    5. Ice Blast
    6. Radiation Blast
    7. Psychic Blast
    8. Earth Assault
    9. Fiery Assault
    10. Icy Assault
    11. Electricity Assault
    12. Energy Assault
    13. Psionic Assault
    Head/Mind/PSI attack animations for
    1. Fire Blast
    2. Electrical Blast
    3. Dark Blast
    4. Energy Blast
    5. Ice Blast
    6. Radiation Blast
    7. Psychic Blast

    9. Fiery Assault
    10. Icy Assault
    11. Electricity Assault

    1. Fire Blast
    2. Electrical Blast

    4. Energy Blast
    5. Ice Blast
    6. Radiation Blast
    7. Psychic Blast

    9. Fiery Assault
    10. Icy Assault
    11. Electricity Assault
    12. Energy Assault
    13. Psionic Assault
And "Throwing" animations using pretty much any animation that involves a character holding something in their hand and throwing it, (as opposed to firing it from their hands or fists or wrists, or other parts) for
    1. Fire Blast
    2. Electrical Blast
    3. Dark Blast
    4. Energy Blast
    5. Ice Blast
    6. Radiation Blast
    7. Psychic Blast
    8. Earth Assault
    9. Fiery Assault
    10. Icy Assault
    11. Electricity Assault
    12. Energy Assault
    13. Psionic Assault

    As for Effects-Specific things?

    1. Reactive Defense for all Defense sets: As mentioned earlier in this thread, Reactive Defense is a concept where the effects of a Defensive Toggle Power can only be seen when the character using it is either Attacked or Protected from attack(by said Defensive toggle, of course) and then (visually) turns off
    2. Ultra-mode effects: New effects for all Power sets taking advantage of Ultra-mode graphics capability(somehow)
    3. MOAR TENTACLES! I like the dark, mysterious Tentacles found in some dark power sets, as well as Soul Mastery It reminds me of Characters Like Venom, the Lovecraft Mythos, The Darkness(obviously) Floormasters The Boogie man, and all other manner of Spookity-Ookiness. I'd like to be able to make a dark character(any kind, Range, defense, melee, debuff, something)using nothing but those tentacles or something like them if possible.
    4. Elemental weapons: Sets like Fire, Ice, and Earth Use elemental weapons that many people love, many people hate, and many people want for other powersets allowing plalyers to choose to use or not use those weapons completely for their elemental melee/Assault/Manipulation sets would be a great advancement. Even more, Adding weapon concepts to the other elemental sets as well, Darkness Talons, Lightning "Rods", Psychic blades. I'm sure it would make a lot of people happy.
    5. More variety. Just more new stuff in terms of effects so my fire blast doesn't look exactly like everyone Else's except for a different color

Thing is, you're in this thread, that's about not that, talking about that. That's a kind of "Enough about your stuff, let's talk about mine!" if you're coming in a place where everyone is going on about one thing to talk about your own personal desires, it's going to chafe. This isn't a thread to request more tights patterns, if you want to do that, no one is stopping you from doing so and if someone came in to say something against it you could debate them as we're doing you here/

    Quote:
You guys keep making the argument that we already have tons of Spandex stuff, but we have tons of big, bulky armor stuff as well, not all of it glows like the new stuff, but it's there.
I could honestly care less about this armor, maybe the wings, maybe some of the weapons, but this armor is completely neutral for me. That said, I'm all in favor of lots more no-tights related options in-game since even when I give my characters tight clothes I generally give them tight clothes.

    Quote:
Honestly? Yeah I'd rather have that. Sometimes you have that perfect costume in your head, but the options we have can only get us so far. Let's expand that for tights AND this crazy armor. More people would be happy that way.
I do think that like most things, ADF, Defense, and probably this armor too will have a tights option and an accompanying pattern. as have most things in this game since launch. (Sport, Alpha, Omega, Overguard,)

    Quote:
That's a good point, but none of them wear the crazy glowy armor that we've been getting recently. Okay, Thor does sometimes, but for the most part he's dressed in spandex and a tunic.
Looks more like tight pants and armor plating to me. But things vary from artist to artist

    Quote:
Good sir, no where did I say that I wanted to screw over people who dislike the things I like. I merely stated that I wish they'd appease those of us that like the tights look more so than they have been.
1: This isn't the place for that
2: They generally are in some form or another

    Quote:
Not to bash you're style, but Paragon City/The Rogue Isles/Praetoria are hardly what I'd consider "real-ish." Real as in the world is Earth? Yeah, but that's pretty much as far as it goes. You're creating a character that's integrated into a society that accepts mutants, magic users, and gigantic robots as commonplace. Tights are hardly corny in that setting.
Its more the visual style in the sense that a fully 3-d-ish human looking person is going to look more silly in tights than a cartoonishly proportioned or rendered person.
    Quote:

I still fail to see how hard it is to make asymmetrical patterns. Colors can already be asymmetrical, as we see in the 50/50 mask. Doesn't seem like it would be too hard to replicate that for other patterns. Third color would be great, but definitely seems like more work.
It's not, and should be done, but it should be done for everything in general and not just tights.

    Quote:
Again, I never said I wanted things added as "tights specific." What I said was that I want more options for tights as opposed to the armor that's reminiscent of WoW that i20 and i21 are bringing us.
So far we've seen three costume sets, Celstial Armor, IDF, And Defense, Defense is amost exclusively tights, IDF is Tights and Some Armor bits, and Celestial looks to have a tight under-pattern as well. You're not really "Left out"
  18. Is it on yet?
    Is it on yet?
    it's on now, right?
    now?
    now?
I'm going to take a nap, tell me when it starts
  19. It also helps that the only meaningful things they could add to tights options in this game
    1: Third color option
    2: asymmetrical design options
would probably require new tech/nodes/programming and would affect those "Other" style costume pieces as well.

The point being only thing that can currently be added to tights is something that needs to be added to the game as a whole, not a "tights specific" option.
  20. 1: "Enhancements"
    2: "Endurance"

which brings the answer to the question, You can slot almost everything for less endurance. Honestly it's less worth your time though, the Endurance and recharge for Summon Powers on MMs are always pretty steep as a balancing measure, it's better to just enhance whatever your pets do,(Damage, Debuffs, E.t.c.) so they get more done while they're alive and enhance your Buffs/Debuffs for Endurance so you have more for summoning/upgrading

MM pet AI is pretty much universally stupid. It just requires lots of micro-managing.

"More variations of tights!" isn't the kind of thing that has the visual wow factor needed to turn heads (of people not already playing, at least) at an event like Comic Con. If I was doing the marketing, even the addition of 100 new tights patterns/variations would only merit a "below the fold" ("after the jump", for you raised on the 'net young 'uns) mention on any press materials about the new issue. Especially considering how much there is coming to the table with Issue 21
It also helps to remember that most "Tights" options are rather simplistic. Meaning the majority of them were covered in the beginning. Anything else will just be more of the same. Anything else new they add in other areas will really be something new because it frequently requires new costume/graphic tech, new art assets, new designers, e.t.c. More tights options will require... one person coming up with a new pattern. That would sound easy, but what it means is things the game couldn't conceivably do before they can try and do now, and it means that holes in the costume creators options can be filled.

With other options , there were(and still are) huge holes in terms of what can be done. With tights, the holes are smaller and more specific. It's the

    Armor
    >Glowing Armor>Glowing Tech Armor
    >Glowing Magic Armor
    > Glowing Bio Armor
    Vs.

    Tights
    >Pattern

With tights, we HAVE tights. At best we'd just be adding more specificity, not doing something that isn't done.

Lastly the whole "Tights" look is essentially painting the human form. This is problematic in that it's a uniquely expressed concept that has trouble in our system. Most of what people on this side of the issue are requesting is "more Patterns" maybe "More Textures" but usually not.

That's an infinitely expandable concept in a way that "Glowy X armor" isn't
Once you get glowy armor... you have it. It actually takes less work to get to the ultimate(reasonable) end of Non-tights options than it does for tights options, purely because tights options don't truly have one. The "Ultimate end" here being the point at which anything else added would be more satisfying the needs of an individual rather than expressing a ubiquitous concept in the culture. Without an ability to "Paint" tights, the patterns have nothing to do but get added nigh-constantly to properly represent anything someone can want/design because it's such a simplistic base to start with.

Tights costumes are nothing if not splashes on a canvas. This game doesn't give us a paint-brush set and paints. It gives us Legos.
  22. Yes, but those are pretty much it.

    Really
    Tights
    Armor
    Nothing(monsters)
    Street Clothes

The only thing left is different styles of those concepts.

You are playing a game about superheroes. I'm not saying you have to dress up in spandex and a cape, but that's what should take precedent in my opinion.

As to the person who said the system can't handle asymmetry, I don't believe we need the crazy asymmetry they have over in CO (Though something like that would be great), but asymmetrical patterns seem totally doable. We already have the 50/50 mask, why can't we have more like that?
I think you need to look at the premier teams of super-heroes and reconsider your position

There's lots of dudes in tights, But right at the Front are Monstrous Dudes, a dude in a crazy- Ancient Norse warrior get-up and a powered-armor character.

Might be mis-remembering this, and the game is not working for me right now, but don't PPD con differently to you based on "how Resistance" you are? as in, if you're doing the "Undercover Powers Division" thing, don't they con enemy? or is this just them conning universally aggressive in different zones that I'm remembering?
