At this point from what I can tell you are in fact forced into PvP if you want to get everything out of the game.
There are badges in PvP zones, exploration, etc that have nothing to do with actually PvPing but you must endanger yourself to get them nonetheless.
This isn't counting possible history or mission badges I have yet to come across that may be in PvP zones.
And I bet atleast one of these badges is linked to an accolade or two...
So, yes, PvP or atleast endangering yourself by entering a PvP zone, is mandatory. -
At first I thought this was a stupid idea.
Well I still think its stupid to reduce a power in effetiveness only to add a completely different affect to it in addition to what it already has in order to counterbalance the reduction you've done...
Anyway...resistance to damage on super reflexes concept wise does make some sense.
I did a superhero movie marathon yesterday X1, X2, SM1, SM2, Batman Begins.
I noticed (particularly in SM1/2) that when spidey was unable to completely avoid an attack with his SR powers (DEF) he was able to use his SR powers to reduce the damage he took (RES) by not taking the full slice of a blade or punch.
So concept wise for characters it could sorta make sense. Game wise though...adding an inherent power to "fix" a set that you just nerfed is kinda stupid. But, meh. -

I've alluded to this in a couple of places, but I wanted to describe something we'll be doing for Super Reflexes quite soon...
Super Reflexes Auto powers (Agile, Dodge, and Lucky) now add some minor damage resistance. This Damage resistance starts at 0%, but improves as the caster loses HP. The Resistance kicks in at 60% HP (when HP bar first changes color) and markedly increases at 40% and 20% (again, when the bar changes color). We have not yet determined the exact values.
This change is in addition to the recent modification that gave most Defense Primary and Secondary powers resistance to Defense Debuffs (self Defense powers).

Ok so exactly how many Inherent Powers are you guys gonna give us while trying to fix us after you nerf us :-p -
I was just wondering...
We've seen the helmets but we have no idea what they look like on a character.
Are there any shots of these helmets on characters that we could get a glimpse of? I mean it'd kinda suck to get psyched about a helmet then see it on your toon and it looks like a beanie. -
I made my last post at my friends place and so I'll have to get back over there to get the sleeve an scan it in to show what I'm saying.
But all I did was add the Pre-Order.
I'll add the launch version of the game as an upgrade to my CoH game account instead of adding the full launch version as a new game of course so then I'll still have the joint thing. After all the Pre-order doesn't = the full version.
EDIT: I finally saw all the helmets and since I pre-ordered at EB I'm kinda glad that I didn't upgrade :-p but I kinda dig the "All other retailers" helmet. What retailers qualify under the "all other retailers"? -

While you don't seem to care about the headstart or helmet, chances are you'll still get them. However, you probably won't get the joint subscription fee as you added another game instead of combining them. So, the lack of reading instructions has possibly led you to a $30/month track.
[/ QUOTE ]
So only people that preorder are allowed to have a joint subscription?! I doubt that. Besides if that happens then I'll just pre-order someplace an cancel my pre-order after I get my code. OR just lose that 5 dollars. OR just cancel one and play the other an flip flop.
But I haven't seen anything on pricing yet so I dunno what'll happen.

Well, above the code and under giant letters that shout "ATTENTION!" it tells you to read the complete instructions first in some of the largest letters on the CD case. Did you feel that just didn't apply to you?
[/ QUOTE ]
Then I got a quirky one. Holding it my hand right now. It says Attention Below is your code don't lose it or give it out.
then it says scratch here.
nothing morewell atleast nothing more thats relevant just normal welcome yadda yadda copyright yadda yadda
I have to admit even if it did I probably wouldn't have gone and read the instructionsbut then again a box of tea bags has instructions too but I don't read them every time I go to make tea
Also for CoH beta they sent out emails and posted on the forums saying to NOT upgrade your beta account with the pre-order/launch CoH so I just thought if there was something wrong with just hitting Add Game then they'd say something especially since the code didn't work when I tried UpgradeAnd I wrote the code out to make sure I deciphered it correctly and entered it exactly in both Upgrade an Add Game. Only Add Game took it.

But I suppose instructions are beyond some.

But atleast I know I can always turn to these forums for pleasant, kind folks who have no attitude problems at all and don't give people grief when they mention something or ask something. -
Ok got my pre-order and registered it clicked Add Game on my account and went through fine.
Now I'm hearing all this hoopla. People are saying
"Oh lordy lordy you shouldn'ta done Add Game, you shoulda done Upgrade"
Now since I'm not concerned at all with the relatively mediocre choices in "swag" for pre-order villains what else do I have to worry about?
Are there other perks that have been or will be added for pre-orderers?
Two-Day head start? *twirls finger an rolls eyes* wooo...not a big deal didn't exactly utilize the head start for CoH (which was 3 days! CoV gets no 3 day lovin and thats just wrong) even though I coulda.
Other than the head start and the kinda ugly helmet I don't really see any other problems. Does this cause a problem for their system or something?
Me being the deductive fella I am...I saw a scratch off area on my CD sleeve. I scratched it off then went to my account and added game and then entered the numbers.
Nothing on the sleeve seemed to express in big bold easily detectable words that this wasn't an ok thing to do. The only way I even found out about this was someone in my SG said "Oh when you click the register now button on the CDs window it takes you to the site an says to Upgrade an not Add Game.
I wish they'd printed out a slip warning me to nt Add Game instead of a brochure that I've already seen 3 other times.
BTW, that tactic kinda reminds me of the movie Dave.
"So we spend millions of dollars each year to make people feel good, about cars they've, already bought?" -
hmm...who would volunteer to be the guy training 50 mobs to the PDs...or who would volunteer to be the cannon fodder :-p

Hey Manticore long time listener first time caller.
How do you guys make the tough decisions? Everything from narrowing eligible beta testers for CoV beyond the initial 12 month criteria all the way to which zone to add next. -
I'm far from being a kiss [censored] but...
Did Jack lose weight?
Check out the nerf bat pics an check out the old OLD video in the movies section with Jack talking about CoH...
I swear he lost weight. -
I know the Defenders of Paragon have run several contests and I have sololy run a couple or in conjunction with a couple other high levels standing around Atlas. Though I prefer to run em in my home of Galaxy since GC never seems to get any lovin.
-
Boys an Girls.
I believe Carl from Aqua Teen Hunger Force said it best...
FREAKIN AWESOME!
that is all. -
Dragging your thumb or finger across your throat "This ends now"
a flustered pointing "Curse You Hero!"
waving the fist at them would work too -
I did the positron TF when they were being "fixed" after launch. Will this affect my getting that badge?
-
I really didn't are either way though spicing up the arcs would be cool. why not have two choices for the same arc? have one be multi person and one be solo-able. I like the idea of multi-task missions. I mean it is a Massively MULTIPLAYER Online RPG. If you bought this expecting to never have to socialize or not wanting to socialize with another human being then go get Freedom Force an stop whinning.
