I haven't looked at his build yet, but I always take the snipe to put Manticore into it for the 7.5% global recharge. I take every hold I can get for the same reason. And lately, I've been respeccing into the first three of the concealment pool to get enough def powers for all five LotG +7.5%. On a blaster, perma-hasten is a very good thing. And on a team, if you can read the enemy right, they can be great mitigation.

If you are going to use the snipe, I find the best situation isn't as an alpha, but as a "hide in the hall after a team wipe and plink at the big guy(s)" outside their detection limit. If you're going to six slot this, the sixth should be range. That's what this power is for after all.

Edit: Uh, why no datachunks on this? I can run mids off a portable drive even here at work, but I can't access the links to builds.

I'm actually slowing on my attempt at hopping on the shard rabidness bandwagon. I get to feeling pressured by this kind of thing. Same reason I usually just market on double xp weekends, or go exploration badge hunting.

And, with the power that these incarnate abilities have, it feels like the toon is leaving the rest of the game behind. Just my feelings, but then again, I've locked toons in the 20s so I'd not have to leave Talos. Man, I love Talos.
  3. Ooh, you tempt me. Though I'm half of the active members of the old MLC SG, I'd hate to leave it. Heck, who would I get to reinvite me.

So, how Crazy are the 88?
  4. I'm planning on rolling a DP/EM at some point. I really like running on single AT teams. I'm not too hot on the graphics on /EM but with DP, getting a boost to secondary effects of attacks and increase range, I just have to.

I actually rolled one a while back but the name was horrible so I deleted her.

    Are these every two weeks?

I know you're saying you're at 80% with DA, but I doubt you're actually at that value when cascading defense failure happens. Most likely you jump in, and debuffs start piling in while you're still building defense with DA.
Oh, I'll pop a purple on my way in if I feel the need. This debuff will happen after around 10 to 20 seconds when I'm surrounded by a donut of the guys. There's not much sense popping one then since I'll make sure to keep my melee/lethal def around 60+%, and the other stuff is around 40. Now, I have a psi-hole as big as a house, and it goes great with my range-hole, really, but none of that is what gets me.

If it wasn't for the def debuffs, I could stand there all day, and with Katana/WP and how many people are around me, I'd have to.

I think je_saist nailed it, pretty much.
  7. MasterB, if Captain is bringing his nrg^2, you have to.

(why am I saying this...I'm a scrapper with RttC...I hate knockback?)

For great advice on MA, click Search (^^ up there), then advanced. Look for the word "crane" by user Umbral. On the bottom left, "show results at posts."

    (Where is Umbral these days?)

Not only did he give good advice, but there were usually other expert-like folks bumping heads with him.

I'm about to respec my Ma/inv, a 50 but not incarnate. The one big change I'll do, not take eagle.

    DPA and animation time

Thunder Kick does 54.7 DPA over 1.056 seconds.
Storm Kick does 97.7 DPA over 1.056 seconds.
Crane Kick does 73.0 DPA over 1.848 seconds.
Crippling Axe Kick does 61.1 DPA over 1.848 seconds.
Eagle's Claw does 59.2 DPA over 2.772 seconds.

Eagles Claw does less damage than the other 3 attacks while up nearly 2 attacks worth of animation time. It's better to get in Thunder Kick and Crane Kick than it is to get in Eagle's Claw and nearly as good to get in a Thunder Kick and Crippling Axe Kick as well.

Thunder + Crippling Axe = 66.4 DPA over 2.904 seconds.
    Thunder + Crane = 58.8 DPA over 2.904 seconds.

Because Eagle's Claw takes so long and is on such a long recharge, it also means that it will take longer for it to recharge (meaning you can't have the turbo fast attack chains that do loads of damage) and that you will be able to fit in fewer other attacks.
    Here's a prior thread about MA/Regen. http://boards.cityofheroes.com/showt...ighlight=crane

    And Umbral's response:

5 piece Doctored Wounds for Instant Healing, Reconstruction, and Dull Pain (Integration is a great spot for it too, but it's not requisite). 6 piece Touch of Death and Mako's 6 piece sets for your normal attacks (Crippling Axe Kick and Crane Kick). 5 piece Hecatomb in your most recharge intensive attack (Storm Kick). 6 piece Obliteration for any PbAoEs you take. Make sure to put the Steadfast 3% +def in Resilience and get as many LotG 7.5% +rech IOs as possible.
  9. Rats, didn't do a datachunk on that last one.

Here's a few powers removed, though it makes it a horrible order. You sure want CJ down below 20 if you're going to do any Ouro flash backs.

My style slotting, quick like so maybe breaks of the rule-of-fives. I haven't even looked at the totals on this yet. [edit: ah, I screwed the def up.]

  10. OK, can you tell I'm stalling on what I need to be doing.

Here's what I tried. It looks like we have six LotG7.5s. I got you some more recharge and changed out a good deal. I didn't move any slots or change any powers, so this isn't a respec, BUT...

Holy crap, a stealth unique And taking the stealth power? Even if stealth was a mule for lotg, you don't need it. I didn't even know stalkers could take stealth. Hide doesn't take anything to run at all and is the best invis in the game (except maybe ill/ controller sup invis, I don't recall)

Iknow I freaked out with the 13.55 hp bonuses, but I had to plow through them to get the 9% acc from lotg and the 5% rech in CImpact. And Health is a good power, it should be slotted with 5 imo, the three uniques and the heals from numinas and miracle for full enh on heal and some nice bonuses.

  11. [edit5: pardon my lack of coherance, I do have slight memory problems (undiagnosed thank the lord) and I haven't had a full cup of coffee yet]

I find your lack of IOs disturbing.

I've found that GotA +Run only gave me another 1 mph. If you don't have the cash for doing LotG, which has nice bonuses and I'll slot 4 often, then there's nothing wrong with it.

Remember, even econo-frankenslotting will get you better numbers than using just common IOs. A lev 50 IO has about as much impact as a Lev 30 IO from a set. Example (w/o Mids to get my math right): Two def/rech at lv 30 will get you the same as a 50 def and 50 rech. And most stuff is dirt cheap, especially if building for energy/neg/fire/cold def.

[Edit3: Two level 27 dam/acc have MORE damage and acc than a 50 dam and a 50 acc.]

[Edit4: And compared to three common level 50 IOs of Damage, Endurance, and Recharge, three level 30 D/E/R have over 10% more in each category...30% more impact. Each 50 common gives 42, while these give 53 for each. Even using lv 35 Entropics, the horrible red-headed stepchild of all enh everywhere, and 35 is their highest level, I can get 64/41/41 DER and people throw these things away. Which actually makes them hard to find, or you can buy them for 1 inf sometimes.] [And yes, I know entropics are ranged, I just picked the first thing that popped up in mids, archery.]

The only reason I'd take Maneuvers & Vengeance is to put LotG +7.5% rech in them. This isn't much of an issue for a /nin if I remember correctly. But MA needs some speed. I've got a 50 MA/Inv scrappre, and imo MA needs a lot of things. Unhappy with it.

Before you go Purple, get some sets. Perf Shift proc in stamina.

    And there's my rambling thoughts.

Edit: Man, I just typed the longest thing due to my getting off track and then accidentally hit the back button on my mouse. Here's the short version.

*Assault gives the 10% on all team members w/i range. It stacks. I go on a team regularly where at least half of us have it. 50%ish more damage is a good thing. (Plus we're all fire/rad controllers, ha)

*Tough is the only logical step to Weave. Aegis three slotted gets you a good bonus on fire/cold at a cheap price.

*You should have already had Crane Kick. If memory serves it's your best DPS. Search the scrapper forum for "crane" posts Umbral. Geez, he's an abrasive dude, but he knows his powers. He seems to be gone in the last six months or so though. [Edit2: Storm is the best dps in the set. Crane shouldn't be left out. Your worst dps is actually eagle, but that doesn't mean it's bad. It has its uses.]

*Focused Accuracy blows. If you want perception get the unique in tohit. It's enough to see through blindness, if I recall. I know on my scrapper I didn't, and wouldn't, take FA, and I can't be blinded.

*Smoke Grenade crafted is good. Any crafted temp is fun. Even the radio one that summons the idiot is fun. Envenomed Dagger used to be great, I don't know if they nerfed the stack, but she sure as heck should have.

*Rec Freind. Someone with stealth needs to take it. But you'll find so many have it and SS+stealth that you may not want to do it since they'll get to the boss/glowy before you do. Some people are so good with SS that it's like magic to me.

My only condition is that I don't have ninja or beast run, so I would need a standard travel power (SJ over SS).
    What level is yours at?

I have a level 50 MA which I don't play but keep around as a marketer since she was my first 50. I can't recommend MA.

I've never played Regen, but I can't imaging the powers being a good fit for my play style.
  13. Don't judge all blasters based on DP. Fire/ should be tried, but...

If you're thinking Dominator, I've been planning on rolling a fire/fire dom. It's a cross between my Fire/Rad, and I see you have a Fire/Kin so you know those powers, and a Fire blaster, with a few Fire scrapper things thrown in.

The things I would recommend, mostly I'm already seeing. Katana must be tried, and you've done that.

I'm reluctant so suggest a mastermind, because though they seem cool, I've deleted every one I've made. Just not my thing.

I'd encourage you to roll a fire/ice blaster. And leave off the /ice melee attacks, just to change the thought pattern. Fire/ is powerful enough and fast enough that the range attacks work perfectly well when that range is 1 foot.

And, I hate to put another one of these on the streets, but I love mine, but rarely play her, you really need to get the chaos going with an ill/storm controller. It's really love/hate with me and those.

Or, be a masochist, roll a MA/Elec scrapper.
  14. Your plan sounds brilliant, but...

My big issue with my stalled level 42 AR/Dev blaster is that she needs a team to do well. She targets through a melee character, or any toon who has aggro, but her kb side effects are very un-melee-friendly. I feel impolite using her.

What you're planning should be built just because it sounds like it would be brilliant.

I'm playing a fire/ice blaster now. I would trade inferno for a fire-full-auto in a heartbeat. Full Auto is so damn sweet.

I know I keep mentioning me having the pHasten now, which mids indicates* is down for only 1.3 or 1.6 seconds, but I've timed it and it's really around six, but I'm just really thrilled about it.

I need to find out what badge I got which gave my other main In-something-able Mind, a click mez resist to psionic. Man, I need any kind of mez resists I can get. I can hyperphase if it's just damage I'm getting, but mezzes take me out. I could always carry a bucket of break-free's.

(and that's my off topic morning ramble of the day)

*The difference between the Hasten duration and the Hasten recharge while Hasten is on. AKA, less hasteny when hasten isn't there, which is exactly what we're talking about. And then there's activation time. But, eh, no biggie.
  16. I'd like to get in on this.

I'm planning on taking Saltier, my lvl 46 fire/ice Blaster.

I'm really digging Saltier now that I have 1.3 seconds short of perma-hasten. (I had to respec into the concealment pool to get enough powers for 5xLotG7.5s, and those who witnessed my massive goofiness on Sunday with Bonfire, will be glad to know I don't have it anymore. )

Edit: removed possibility of my scrapper. Too many pets.
  17. I was really wanting to be there but Mediacom decided that shutting down all it's phones and internet would be a cool thing for my whole community.

Scarily, I had just done a respec on one of my toons and was rearranging powers on my tool bars when I got mapserved.

I always love it when a guest freaks at how a team of Frads can rule.
  18. I'd like to bring Trixi Chalk, katana/wp scrapper, please.
  19. This doesn't get a lot of hype, since everyone who does it already knows about it, but I thought I'd bump this up in case some people weren't aware.

8pm Central on the dirt mound in Talos. Fire/Radiation Controllers.
  20. I don't know how, I'm asking how.

With all the ITFness this week, I've run it either four or five times, but only two with my scrapper. On my hoverblaster, no worries unless I draw some aggro, but my scrapper is down there in the fray.

And seeing my DA-induced 80ish percent melee/lethal shoot down to -40% instantly. I try to hit and hit and hit the medium def insp asap, but it's not good enough sometimes.

I've got a kat/wp that I'm most concerned about, she's a 50 and I understand that the Alpha stuff can get her some protection. She's 39% def on ENFC with close to 70% S/L resistance (I think), but that doesn't help the defense debuffs.

    So..how?

Well, at least I got it over with in the first large room of the first mission, eh?

There were several times I'd watch my melee/lethal go from 88% def to -40% and would start bouncing away, trying to pop purples as fast as I could. After screwing it up the first time I was really self conscious.

Though Rommy felt really squishy last night.
  22. I just want to clarify that we're talking about shooting for bonuses. We'll all max our acc/damage/rech of each attack as best we can.

When I was a poor droog, I did the entropics. They're cheap and they give you that 6.25% global rech. Decimation is much better. As for the heal proc in Entropic, it's pathetic. Search the forum, there's some stats on it. Plus, that limits your good enhancements to four.

For AoE, Positron. Period. Gets you what you need and more 6.25%.

A hold is worth taking if it's a loose build to get the 7.5% rech off a Basilisk. In fact, if the hold power is lame and you're just taking it for the bonus, you can fill that with basilisks in the teens and you've still got your 7.5%.

For snipe, Manticore has a 7.5% global rech also.

Defense sets, you might go out of your way, if you're spending some serious cash, into getting five powers that take them so you can put LotG +7.5 in them. CJ, Hover, Maneuvers, Weave...or, to cheese out badly, the first three powers in Concealment.

(I'm about to do a second build on a blaster of mine where she does that for the LorG 7.5% globals, and then takes FF as her epic. I can run SS, Stealth, and PFF and be invisible and untouchable.)

Something like a 3% damage bonus is good and all, if it's along your way to something better, but if you want some extra damage after you've hit the limit with your enhancements. Ah..I can't remember the name...Tactics? From Leadership, gives you and your team around you a +10% on damage.

For me, blaster bonuses should be recharge [edit: and accuracy, as some powers can't be slotted for it.] My main blaster has Hasten down for only six seconds, and with the recovery uniques in health and the Performance Shifter proc in Stamina, she gets by.

Her main form of mitigation is being on teams and knowing when not to throw out an AoE that would aggro the world onto her.

I suggest playing with Mids for a long time. Make five or so versions of your toon, get and save builds people have posted here, hybridize where it makes sense. Then, my most significant step, realize you can't afford half of what you want.
