    "I got a rock"

    [ QUOTE ]
I don't know if it's related to the Peanuts thing, and maybe I'm seeing links where there aren't any, but I remember a Netrunner card with the title "I got a rock." I was told it was a reference to some Cyberpunk thing, referring to a corporation with the ability to drop a satelite or meteor onto someone's house from orbit.

    [/ QUOTE ]

The Netrunner card is the same Easter Egg... it is referencing the Peanuts cartoon.

The event the card refers to is the destruction of Boulder (Denver?), Colorado by the Tycho Mining Corporation on the moon. They used a mass-driver to launch a big chunk-o-Moon at the Earth. (At least that's what I can remember from when I used to run 'Punk. I am sure someone will fact check me and point out if I am wrong.)

    Exemplar Aggro

As of 10/20 how is Exemplar Aggro?
  3. I found the problem with the Zookeeper badge. It was never supposed to put a bar up, which is why it took me so long to find a problem.

I fixed the problem, and made it so a bar and hint appears so players should see progress on this one now. I will get this up on Training Room asap.

Haven't heard of anyone getting the rikti badge yet.

On another note, is the Hydra D Multidimensional badge actually in the game? I've got the mish right now (I assume it's the mish) but can't find it after standing everywhere.

    [/ QUOTE ]

Do me a favor and copy your character over to Training Room, and do the mission there. It should be fixed there right now.
  5. [ QUOTE ]
Pos, what if you're a defender healing/buffing everyone, do you have to make a hit to get badge credit?

    [/ QUOTE ]

Make sure you are grouped with people who are dealing damage.
  6. [ QUOTE ]
    Pos,

Just killed Babbage in mission with several other high 40's and 50's, no exemplars. None of us received any badge.

As a side note, please do not add any more badges that you get by killing a single-spawning outdoor creature (Kraken, Adamaster). It screams "I HATE EVERQUEST" in burning lights in the sky. You want kill stealing, mad players all hunting in one area trying to crush the spirits of each over a single creature? Keep CoH unique and fresh....please don't use this horrible, terrible design method

    [/ QUOTE ]

Babbage or Psychic Babbage (two different beasts)?

As for the kill stealing... several groups can get "badge credit" off one monster... just like several heroes can get defeat credit off one villain.

Positron, if we DO believe we have not recieved a badge for a mission we have done, what is the process of reporting? Petition? I completed the Patient Zero story (even have screenies of me covered with flies) but did not get the badge.

    Dr. Apocalypse
    Level 28 Rad/Rad Mutation Defender
    Victory

    [/ QUOTE ]

There are no badges for Story Arcs (including Patient Zero), so that would be why you didn't get one.

Positron, I did the ENTIRE Alexander mission as an exemplar with a friend last night. I was exemplared 30 minutes before he got his badge. I did not receive the badge upon completion.

Here are a few things I noticed that were unusual:

    1. The badge was awarded upon returning to the contact after mission complete. I exemplared one other mission with the same guy and we both our badges upon objective completion (he didn't have to return to his contact). Maybe there is some issue with a badge that is awarded by the contact.

    2. I was zoning at the time he talked to the contact and got the badge. Maybe that was somehow related to me not getting the badge.

I petitioned but have still got no real human response other than email that says "we are working on your issue", which is frustrating because I am becoming a real badge fiend and I have no more friends left in that level range. Even if I did, I am not remotely confident that I would receive the badge, at this point.

    [/ QUOTE ]

    Excellent post.

This helped me find a bug in Alexander's mission where only the Mission Owner gets the reward. I have fixed this... it will be a while before the fix makes it to Live however.
  9. [ QUOTE ]
So if in fact you DID the mission as part of a team, but the mission was not YOURS... do we not get credit for that mission as far as a badge is concerned?

    [/ QUOTE ]

If (pre-Expansion 2) the mission was from a different Hero's contact, you will not get the badge, even if you helped them.

Why? Because we keep no record of that on your character. We only track what missions your character did for your OWN contacts (so you don't get asked to do the same mission twice by your contacts). This is what we use to go back and retroactively give badges. The fact that you did something for another player's character is not recorded anywhere.

Now POST-Expansion 2 I made sure that the badge given for the Mission goes to everyone on the team who qualifies for the End-Of-Mission reward. Still, no record of "help" is recorded, its just that since we are doing the reward right then and there, we can make sure that the whole team gets it.
  10. [ QUOTE ]
Nice theory Pos, but doesn't work. I have reversed SK'd on TWO missions that gave badges, and I didn't recieve the badge for. This is Post Expansion 2. I bugged them both in the event this was how it was supposed to work.

In one of the missions ONLY the mission holder recieved a badge. In another ONLY the non-exemplared players recieved a badge.

This system still needs work apparently.

    WereVampire

    [/ QUOTE ]

    Couple things to consider:

The Exemplar system has a "reward buffer" of about 1 minute to prevent exploiting it.

If the person you Exemplared to completed part of the mission without you (or while you were in the reward buffer), then the Mission Complete reward may ignore you (again, to prevent exploiting).

    So basically this WON'T work:

Lowbie: (Broadcasts) "I am about to complete the Rescue Fortune Teller mission, send me a tell for an invite or Exemplar"

Lowbie then walks in with his newly formed group and takes out the final villain on the map. Only Lowbie will get the reward in this case.

    * I recently completed the Terra Volta Trial. I have the Accolade for the completion of the Trial, but I do not have the Accomplishment Badge for it that badge is still greyed out.

    [/ QUOTE ]

Known bug... we are looking into why this is happening.

    [ QUOTE ]
    * Prior to Update 2, I completed the Numina Task Force. I have been assigned all of the other Task Force Badges (having completed all of them) but still lack Numina's.

    [/ QUOTE ]

Were you part of the team when Jurrasik was defeated? Did you recieve a reward when Jurrasik was defeated?

    [ QUOTE ]
    * I have not gained the badge for defeating Babbage (which occured during Synapse's TF).

    [/ QUOTE ]

No datamining was done on any of the DefeatX badges (which Babbage is one). Just because you completed Synapse's TF does not mean you defeated Babbage, many groups skip Babbage all together. If you thought datamining for Task Forces was slow, it would probably be a year or two to get every kill task badge retro'ed.

    [ QUOTE ]
    * There are numerous story arc/mission-related badges that I'm missing. I've received 4 so far and I've certainly completed a lot more than four of the requisite missions/arcs. I don't know exactly which ones are missing, but I'm certain there are several missing.

    [/ QUOTE ]

FYI: There are NO story arc badges. None. Never were. Never will be. You have Souvenirs for that.

Completing a Badge-giving mission post-Expansion 2: Mission badges are awarded upon Mission Complete to every member on the team.

Completing a Badge-giving mission pre-Expansion 2: We look at your character and see if they have done a mission that gives a badge. If the answer is yes, assign the badge upon log in.

If you did not get a badge, then your character never did the mission.

We investigated several characters who claimed to have done badge-missions yet didn't recieve the badges retroactively. Upon examination, all of them had never done said badge-missions, usually because they outlevelled their contact before that mission was issued.

We ARE working on a system that will allow you to go back and do content you missed, but for the meantime you can Exemplar to a character that has a badge-giving mission and help them complete it. You will both get the badge.

The Newsman exploration badge you can get in Faultline seems to have a tricky background to it. It reads:

The Theodore Knight building was home to many Super Groups in the years before the Rikti War.

Okay. That got my wheels turning.

    Theodore Knight
    actor Ted Knight
    his newsman character Ted Baxter
    the Baxter Building
home of the Fantastic Four supergroup

Man, that's just as twisted as the streets of Faultline themselves!

    [/ QUOTE ]

I knew I shoulda made that more obscure!
  13. [ QUOTE ]
I am level 47 and to get the badges I want for these rewards I have two choices: find a portal mission that contains these enemies and farm it over and over or run around the lower level areas causing havoc.

    [/ QUOTE ]

Choice 3: Exemplar to an appropriate level Hero and help them get XP (and work off your debt) while you both get the badge. I know... it's just crazy enough to work.
  14. This process is taking several hours.

Send money to WeirdBeard to speed things up.
  15. I am checking the energy readings... I've got interdimensional energy spikes all across the board, and although it looks like it is levelling off, I don't see them falling anytime soon. If anything they are growing in magnitude.

These readings are all across the city as well. Heroes of the appropriate Security Levels are asked to be on the lookout in Founder's Falls and Brickstown as well as the surrounding areas. The readings there and on Peregrine Island look to be stronger than elsewhere.
  16. There was a bug preventing the Hydra and Black Shroud badges from triggering. Its fixed now.

There was a data error that caused three of the Accolades to not issue when the appropriate badges were earned. This too is now fixed.
  17. We have read and realize the concerns many of you are having with some of the new missions in Expansion 2. In our effort to diversify the play-style of the game, we began crafting multi-tasking missions, missions that require multiple players to do things near-simultaneously in order to complete the mission. These missions are clearly marked with the number of players required to complete them. You can still choose them if you don’t have the required players, but you will need to assemble a group before you can tackle the mission.

Many of you have stated that you do not like the “forced grouping” that these missions involve. After going back and looking at all of the missions that require multiple players, we noticed that some occurred in the middle of Story-Arcs or in the middle of multi-stage missions. Obviously encountering one of these while you are casually soloing will gate your progress in said Story-Arc or mission, which was not really our intention… we just wanted to “spice things up” for you in the middle of your Arc.

We have gone back and removed the multi-tasking missions from Story Arcs and multi-stage missions. They still remain as “one-off” missions with some of your Contacts however. If you encounter one of these and you do not wish to do it, simply take and complete the other mission choice your contact has. When you return, you will be presented with two more (random) missions to choose from. Our goal is not to prevent you from completing Story Arcs or Multi-stage missions you started as a solo character, and we feel that this best accomplishes that with the system we have in place right now.

I didn't see a villian badge for "Knives of Artemis" (lvl 40+ villian group, all female mercenaries). Is this intentional? And are there more villian groups missing?

    [/ QUOTE ]

KoA are a division of Malta.
  19. I -know- the Atlas History badge works, I got it myself on the Training Room server.

Some of the History plaques are bugged, but I know several of them work.

To point you in the right direction:

Concentrate your searching in one level-range worth of areas. i.e. plaques in Atlas Park, Galaxy City, Kings Row, Perez Park. That's your best bet on getting all the plaques required for a History badge.
  20. Kraken's badge was inadvertantly not turned on...

It will exist in the next patch (or so)
  21. [ QUOTE ]
Can you check on Bird Watcher, Brawler, and/or Blue shield badges. At least 1 is broken, maybe 2.

    [/ QUOTE ]

    Yeah, all broken

    On the fix list.
  22. The following History badges are unattainable due to bugs (sorry, getting them fixed asap).

    Intellectual
    Academic
    Scholastic
    Authority
    Savant
    Researcher
    Historian

You guys have been a great help with the badge bugs, keep at it.
  23. The new Wall Plaques (non-freestanding ones) can be very hard to see sometimes.
  24. Broken Tourism Spots

The following spots are broken on Training Room:

    BoomtownTour3 - Vision of Despair -
    CreysFolleyTour1 - Crey Watcher -
    CreysFolleyTour2 - Burning the Midnight Oil -
    SteelCanyonTour1 - Secret Admirer -
    TalosIslandTour1 - Minotaur -
    TalosIslandTour2 - Nature Lover -
    TalosIslandTour3 - Whitecap -

We'll get these fixed asap (Talos is fixed, awaiting a new build to go to TR).
