Barring unforeseen difficulties, I'll be there.

As has been said, we got all three badges with no problems. (Actually, I think we got Synchronized too, so all four badges.
) Great job, everyone, and thanks to everyone who came out.
Quote:I agree with this. And thanks to everybody who stepped aside so those who needed the badges could have a spot.I'd also like to thank all the 'helpers' who showed up to assist. People who didn't need the badge, but just wanted to show up so that others could get it...at one point we had enough in D for three full teams, and when Placta asked about who needed the badges, about two thirds were just there to help. Many thanks to all those folks, for helping out and for once again showing the best side of this server. -
24 hours to go. See you all in Pocket D. I still haven't decided which character to bring yet, but you should know it's me

Happy New Year, Champion! Hope your holidays were good to you.
With successful runs for all the Keyes badges in the books, I'd like to continue doing team-oriented badges on Sunday afternoons. If you've got a request, feel free to send me a tell or e-mail in game (@Placta) or a PM on the forums and I'll do my best to work it in. (My supergroups, both blue and red, are me, so I can't lead a CoP; but I would step aside for someone else to lead one. Also, I'm much more limited, resource- and experience-wise, on redside; for instance, I've never led a successful Barracuda SF, although last time I tried we didn't even have level-shift Alphas so it's probably gotten easier.)
So, to kick off the new year, by request from Cutlass, I'll be hosting a MoLambda run this Sunday. We'll be focusing on the three badges for not using temp powers on Marauder:
Well Stocked: Get all the grenades and don't use them against Marauder. Don't get any acids, during the sabotage phase or the final fight.
Antacid: Get all the acids and don't use them against Marauder. Don't get any grenades, during the sabotage phase or the final fight.
Lambda Looter: Get all the acids and grenades and don't use them against Marauder.
The main challenge for these badges is defeating Marauder without pacifying him or stopping the flood of reinforcements. And yes, we have to do it three times with a different collection of temp powers we're ignoring.
I'm going to ask that everyone have as many level shifts as possible; +3s strongly preferred.
We'll meet in Pocket D.
Sunday, January 8, 3:30 PM EST.
Future Plans (subject to change): Jan 15: Underground Bomb Run.

I usually turn mine into threads, either for the character that gets them or for whatever character is next on the incarnate block. My latest character to start the trials did so with all five slots unlocked, uncommon abilities in each slot (except Alpha, which had a rare), about half of which came from gifts from my other characters and half of which came from accumulating Notices by being my one character with access to high-level redside content and helping friends with red WSTs.
Sometimes, with characters getting close to finishing incarnating, I'll start hoarding them to turn into rare/VR components, but I generally don't have much of a problem with that and end up burning them off for threads anyway. -
This came up last year; apparently something in the Winter Event code prevents the fires from happening. (Troll Raves also, I believe.)

I'll admit to being pretty giddy when I double-checked and saw the congratulations message for the Green Stuff badge. Especially since there was a point where we thought we'd failed, but apparently the person in the beam was already dead. Or maybe the game decided to make up for screwing us over a few weeks ago.
Either way, I'll take it
For the record: We started this on September 25 and went every week, so we did thirteen runs. Thanks to everyone who participated.
And thanks to everyone for the congratulations. (And Sov, I'm now only missing two badges that I can currently get News Flash and MoTPN. Getting them gets me to 1299.) -
WE DID IT! Hahahahahahahahahahaha!
Thank you to the fantastic group of regular attendees: Amy, Koriel, Steel and Ima, Spatch, Cutlass, Eva, Tenjoy, and Jitsy* for coming out week after week, and grats on the badges.
I'm going to take a break from Sunday stuff for Christmas and New Year's, then probably launch something new on the 8th.
I love this server.
* If I missed someone, I'm sorry. -
I've been in Pocket D the last half hour doing the ski runs (reminding myself that no matter how many times I fail a badge, I'll get it eventually, heh), and it's deserted. So I think we can just form up in the center rather than the Monkey Fight Club after all. Again, if we do run into problems we can go somewhere else.
I'll be back in Pocket D in about 25 minutes to start forming. -
This is tomorrow, about 24 hours from now.
After consideration, I think it's best to stay in Pocket D, only in the Monkey Fight Club area rather than the central area. If it does turn out that we can't coexist with the Winter Event in the same zone, we can go somewhere else then and I'll bump this thread with the new location. -

Hardest: Keyes for sure. I've been doing Sunday runs for three months now, and we still haven't gotten Avoids the Green Stuff, although we've come very close the last three Sundays, and I still believe we were robbed that one time. [Edit 12/18: Post this, get it the next Sunday.]
Easiest: Once you're able to handle the final fight against BM, Apex is really easy. Imperious is pretty easy, too, as long as you don't get careless. -

Quote:They're changing Enhancement Converters from a store-bought option to an in-game reward based on Beta feedback.Well seeing as nothing we ever do in beta/testing is ever even looked at by the devs, I guess they've decided, to just go ahead with the idea and screw any of us who have issues with the idea.
I don't hold much hope they'll make the change that would change my opinion of these from "NO NO NO" to "meh," but... hey, I've been surprised before. -

Quote:We can have hero masterminds now. Hero masterminds from level 1, even. Just saying.Just as an FYI the topics of "Customizable Mastermind Henchmen" and "Hero Masterminds" have popped up here literally hundreds of times since October 2005 (when City of Villains launched). Feel free to add "fuel" to those fires but try to keep some perspective on them as well. At the very least don't hold your breath for these kinds of things to happen anytime soon.
Edit: Ah, I didn't see his suggestion for new *powersets*. Got it. -
I did it with Fly+Afterburner, did okay; then I turned off Fly and just used Afterburner for the movement control and that shaved several seconds off my time.

Quote:Costume pieces are account-wide unlocks. So, are we rolling at a $1 a throw, in our little Skinner Box, PER CHARACTER, or account wide?
Judging from what I've read, it sure looks like you're throwing for 1 set. That's it. 1 set.
Now take a look at your power tray for your Blaster. See all those blaster powers? Each power will need it's own set.
Start pulling that lever, monkey.
ATOs: You get them individually (not as a set). They're unique per character, so you can't put them in every power. (I don't know if using a catalyst turns them into a different IO so you can slot one catalyed ATO and the equivalent uncatalyzed ATO on the same character. Even if so, that's at most 12 per character. Still a lot, and trying to get them via Super Packs would get expensive, fast, but... well, it's not as horrible as it could be. Or even as bad as it was when it was announced.) -
As expected, the Winter Event went live today. (Well, I expected it after maintenance Thursday, but the point stands.) That means Pocket D will no longer be a nice quiet place for us to gather.
So between that and wanting some separation from normal Incarnate trials (ruling out the Vanguard Base), we need a new gathering spot. It needs to be co-op and have easy access to an inspiration vendor; a tailor (or at least a trainer) is a nice plus.
I've thought of three ideas: RWZ AE, Cimerora, and the Survivor compound in First Ward. If you have other suggestions, or feedback on these, please let me know. I'll choose a final spot by Saturday's heads-up post. -
Quote:As I said, I have a few, more than I'll need to buy the Fire & Ice set when it comes out. But I don't want more consumables (and if the ones I have disappeared from my inbox, I wouldn't bother filing a support ticket). That's why I haven't bought Signature Summons, or Windfalls, or XP Boosters, or Enhancement Unslotters, or Enhancement Boosters. And it's why I won't buy Super Packs, with my points (I've still got a few thousand saved) or my extra Rewards Tokens or whatever other way they're made available, even to get the Elemental Order costume pieces that I do want, even if it's the only way to get them.Because the sets are going to be available overlapping with the successive offerings, I'm confident many players will find they have spare tokens, "leftover" so to speak.
It's not about having (or not having) the means to buy the Super Packs. I simply refuse to buy items I don't want.
And yes, I realize that my extra tokens aren't going toward anything else, either (my points eventually will). I'm fine with that, too. -
Today, I ran IVy's arc in Neutropolis. During the first mission of the arc, she is kidnapped by unknown parties. In the final real mission, you rescue her, then talk to Neuron, then go back to her.
Only, I got to where the marker told me to go, and she wasn't there. I don't think she gives a phone number until the end of her arc; I was too distracted by the fact that she wasn't standing where the marker pointed discombobulated me. Assuming I wasn't just crazy and calling her wasn't an option, I was unable to complete the arc.
After logging off and back on, she had reappeared where the marker had been pointing, and I was able to complete the arc and move on to the next contact. -
Quote:You're probably right. I hope you're not. ("I always hope for the best. Experience, unfortunately, has taught me to expect the worst.")I think what we can probably assume is that those costume options will be exclusive to the Super Packs for a certain time limit. After 6 months or so (rough estimate, give or take, etc), they'll probably be added to the Paragon Market for those who want the costumes but don't want to touch the card packs.
I know you don't want to hear it, but I do think it's incredibly unlikely that the costume options will be available outside of the Super Packs at the time of their release.
This is a nice change. Even though I still have no interest in buying the Super Packs, more options, both for how to get them and what to spend excess Reward Tokens on (I have 5 right now; by time Fire & Ice comes out, it'll be at least 6), are always a good thing.
I still won't buy the Super Packs, either with points or with my Reward Tokens. -
With the way the cutscene at the end of the latest WWD episode played, he sure seems like one.
Also, two of the promotional images for WWD featured his glove, and another said "They used to be called the Surviving Eight..." (emphasis added). I'm assuming he's a candidate to die until someone says he's not.
