  3. Not sure what I'm doing this weekend mate I'll try and let you know
  4. Probably gonna be celebrating the end of exams but have fun
  5. Hey mate glad to see you made it to the PvP forums

What kind of PvP you planning to do? Because for RV I would say Aid Self and Force Mastery is the most effective combo - not many villains can get through Power Boosted PFF especially with the nerfing of the Force of Nature accolade and then you can aid self safely. Double phase is only useful now against extreme slowers such as Colds and Ice/Rad trollers, and they probably wont be your primary concern.

Like TG said the snipe isnt really worth it and neither is Total Focus because in PvP activation time is everything you are much better cycling energy punch and bonesmasher which do more damage in just over half the time.

Given the acrobatics change Energy Blast now has an extremely useful tool in Power Push when slotted with 6 kinetic crashes you get 7.5% bonus to recharge and a ranged mag 37 knockback power - acrobatics is now just 9 points of protection. Knocking them back will allow you to go into melee easily.

I did a cheapish build for you as an example:

On a more serious note, we'll be ready for SG arena pretty soon I should imagine, we have a relatively decent amount of buffers, just need to organize them into teams.

  7. I think it will be pretty decent in pvp - psy blast and a build up is gonna be pretty decent combined with ranged fear could be very useful. Mental also allows you to take a lot of your primary including the snipe and stun which means you have lots of mez in your arsenal. Probably have a lot of fun with it although you will always be envious of /em and boost range .. I know I was when playing my ice/elec!

    Level 1: Subdual Empty(A)

    Level 26: Scramble Thoughts Empty(A)
    Level 28: Hasten Empty(A)
    Level 30: Super Speed Empty(A)
    Level 32: Psychic Wail Empty(A)
    Level 35: Scare Empty(A)
    Level 38: Telekinetic Thrust Empty(A)

    Level 44: Frozen Armor Empty(A)
    Level 47: Hibernate Empty(A)
    Level 49: Stealth Empty(A)

You have a ranged immob, stun, sleep, kb, fear and a snipe and nuke I think you could do some damage with that. Just because something isnt the best doesnt mean a good player cant do well with it and it will be more enjoyable to level up than a psy/em.

Gonna do an ice / storm corruptor.

Cheers for all the posts guys

Nice Should be a fun toon!
  9. Big grats man well played! What's next?
  10. illusion/sonic is very much a team toon, do you generally fight solo?
  11. How did this thread get so long . .
  12. 6 slots? I'd probably go 2 acc 1 end mod 3 recharge - you want it up as much as possible, want it to hit and then final slot is heal or endurance depending on what you require more.
  13. Teaming with my brother's archery/mental blaster the two cones are very nice but as I'm on my willpower tank I can always herd them together nicely ... so ymmv I guess.
  14. I think the one great thing about ice/mental would be the 2 cones which should kill most things and everything else would have -70% recharge which is nice.
  15. Thanks guys

Gratz on this and all the other 50's that i'm sure are close behind.

Can we get some feedback on on how Psi blasters and Veats are handling PvP from you guys pls ? I know you haven't had time to Pimp them out fully yet but early impressions would be great.

I've been so excited my the thought of psy/em I had my build and IOs all sorted before i12 hit. Its the best toon I've played by a long way, the range, mez and attack chain are amazing. HP isnt much of a defence as the attack just flows and with new defiance its unbelievable - an hp cap blaster goes down quick and even IOed /fire brutes get killed quickly psy res is gonna be important so VEATs are a must H v V and psy epic on hero squishies. Only really done friendly duels so far but all the signs are positive.
  16. Its a very nice set for blasters. I have an Elec/Energy/Elec blaster and it has very nice AoEs, must confess I've never played fire on blasters, but in my opinion its much more forgiving and gives good mitegation. Short circuit and Ball Lightning are both decent AoEs which gives nice AoE end drain when slotted. If you go elec mastery you will have another cone to stack with Psy scream so you have 1 target AoE, 2 cones and 2 PBAoEs which will be devastating.

Also you wont annoy team mates with knockback or scattering powers, you have a snipe, hold and most awesome of all a ranged nuke which is so useful especially against nemesis robots for example.

The only downside is probably single target damage but even then its respectable especially if you take snipe.

    Have fun
  17. Basically what TG and Zaldor said.

I would pvp with a non squishy, might help if you say what toons you already have one may be a decent starting pvp toon if speced right. If you want something new a fire/ss tank is quite nice, solid in PvP can do pretty decent damage but are still easy to level. Although EM is a very powerful PvP set it suffers a lot in PvE and have to wait til 35/38 for heavy hitters.

Once you understand PvP mechanics you should look to level up a specific pvp toon such as a blaster (Fire/ Ice/ Psy/) or defender (Empath, Kinetics, Rad) if you want something more team based.

A good way of meeting PvPers is by playing a buffer in the zones, blasters especially will thank you for it!
