I think the one great thing about ice/mental would be the 2 cones which should kill most things and everything else would have -70% recharge which is nice.

isnt frost breath very very narrow?
Ice/Mental combo works nice. After my sonic defender i rolled some blasters for Psy-family. Only liked Ice/Mental combo so far and i think it is because of ice blast's controlish nature.
My power choices are similar to yours except i've got TK thrust which i found very useful for control on solo missions. When holding one enemy with freeze beam i TK thrust other to stay safe. This tactic worked so well so far. (He is still lvl 11 )
As i am kinda new to blaster scene i can't comment your power choices but i think you covered all good powers from secondary. I am planning to make my hero a scout so our pool power choices also different. I'll go for stealth/SS way to make him a great scout as his name, Psy-scout.

Well I did think about getting the cones but then I never liked frost breath on the original ice/ice and both of the cones are actually quite narrow (psychic scream only 30 degrees..).
Thought I'd best stick to what ice does best, ST damage, but with of course the exception of PSW

Teaming with my brother's archery/mental blaster the two cones are very nice but as I'm on my willpower tank I can always herd them together nicely ... so ymmv I guess.

Hehe true, I think the build is good without the cones (at least up to 24 I've enjoyed it ) but I'm still a bit unsure whether I should get assault at 49 instead of ice storm or not...

So after the release of mental manipulation secondary I rerolled my ice/ice blaster into an ice/mental one and so far I'm enjoying it..
I made a sample build which I think should work fine up to 50. So, if anyone with more experience of either sets could share some of the secrets with me I'd be happy (yes, I know not many people have tried mental manipulation yet but it has quite many powers ported from different sets..)
One of the main questions I have is whether I should have ice storm at lvl 49 or assault (which stacked with set bonuses would provide me a constant +19% damage buff)
