The closest that I have to a time traveller is someone who is from a different dimension which, although listed as being the same year, the people from that dimension was actually 17 years more advanced agewise than their Primal Earth analogues; in other words, the Primal Earth analogue of her is actually only two years old right now, where she is 19.

Quote:Actually, you told the OP in an earlier post to change their outfit because it is too close to the Amalgam character, yet you have a character that has a look almost exactly of a different copyrighted character... actually much closer to the source material than the OP's costume. Yes, it is a nice look, but it's still being a bit hypocritical when you called out the OP on his costume.-shrug- It is what it is. I like the look. Does the character share the same name as Nightwing? Nope. Are their stories even remotely related? Nope. Are they even the same ethnicity? Nope.
But, that ain't where my beef is.
I never commented on the background of your character nor his ethnicity; the only other comment about your character other than the look was the name of the armor on your linked VV page, in which you replaced the word "wing" with "strike". Yes, I read your VV page and liked it very much. I'd just rather not see your character get genericed costume-wise, which it could very easily if someone was being a jerk (and don't worry, I wouldn't do that to you).
Quote:My beef doesn't lie in physical appearance, but in the actual creation of the character. When I say piggybacking, I'm talking about the people who say "I'm the son of statesman." or "I'm alternate dimension Dr. Vahzilok." Or "I'm Snake Plysken's son." My beef is with lack of character DEVELOPMENT; The use of a cannon character as a means of writing a "Catch-22" excuse for a past.
Things of THAT nature. Perhaps I should have been more clear 'bout that.
I do agree that some people use it as a cop-out, but I do know players who have canon tie-in characters who are unique and different enough from the source to stand on their own. However, I have also seen the godmodders who say "You can't touch me! I'm (insert canon character name or canon character's tie-in)" as well. When it comes to canon-tied characters, I take them on a case by case basis.
Perhaps I came across a bit harsh earlier, and I do apologize for that.

Sorry, Spartan... I read your post (quoted below) and one thing popped into my head: "Miss Kettle, a Mister Pot is calling commenting on your pigmentation." Let's analyze it, shall we?
Quote:*looks at Spartan's sig picture of Spectre Raven* But yet you piggybacked the look of an already established, copyrighted character from another universe. If you're using yourself as an example and standard, then that character forms a bad example and a very low standard.No. It's the principal of the thing. Keep in mind, this is the RP server and people have higher standards when it comes to the creativity and development of characters. I'll use myself for an example and my standard.
I refuse to ride the coat-tail of any cannon character in any way, shape or form and I usually mock people that do. Every time I see someone who claims to be the daughter or son or general kin of already established characters in the CoH lore, it makes me wanna pull 'em aside and tell them
"Hey, you really DON'T need to piggyback off Statesman to make your character's presence valid."
And I know someone who has a character who is a failed clone of Statesman where the process was stopped at around 16 years of physical age for the clone, and the player has made that character quite unique despite using canon as a basis.
Using canon as a basis is not necessarily bad, but does tread on an extremely thin line, yet can be done well depending on the player behind it.
Quote:But, there are so many who do this and even more than use Praetoria as an excuse. News flash, kids. Praetoria will soon be an accessible place in game and if it's as developed as we're hoping we will probably see the Praetorian versions of a LOT of cannon characters, possible some that others have created.
Then what? Your character is completely invalidated because cannon has written them in and there's not a damn thing you can do to change it.
Quote:My advice: Make your own damn character. Write your own lore, within the cannon if you respect it enough and stop suckling from the teat of already established characters.
After all, do you really want to stand in the shadow of someone else for the entirety of your existence? I sure as hell don't.
Don't get me wrong, Spartan... I respect you, but when you come down on someone for being less than creative or borrowing from canon when you yourself flaunt a nearly blatant copy of a copyrighted character's costume in your forum signature comes across as being hypocritical. Sorry... I call them as I see them.
Now, as for the OP, I see deviations in costume from the copyrighted character (no jacket, boots different color than legs, mask covering the mouth, no yellow in the logo), but if anything he'd get a name change token because of the name. The name would hurt the OP's case more than the outfit.

I will be in from time to time during 2XP Weekend, but I will be busy packing for a move that starts a couple days afterwards. I will definitely be on the air sometime during Double XP Music & Madness on The Cape, but you'll have to tune in to find out when

I might make either a Archery/TA Corruptor or Traps/TA (I might be wrong on the order/set; that might be Archery/Traps) Corruptor as a redside version of my Archery/Devices Blaster.
As for the other sets, I would have to think of a suitable concept and go from there.

Quote:GR Closed Beta does NOT rely on Hero-Con attendance. The three factors as to when you go into GR closed beta are as such:Honestly, looking at things I16 is the immediate response to that other Hero's game that is coming out. Considering the lack of information outside of the second round of closed beta will be available for people whose accounts have been active for X time and for people who go to Hero Con, we likely won't be seeing closed beta till near the end of the year, and probably the release IF things go well for next spring.
Tier 1: Veteran players with 60+ months
Tier 2: Those who participated in the Loyalty Program through November 15
Tier 3: Those who pre-order GR
I predict GR closed beta will hit shortly after Hero-Con 2009 (that will probably be the "big announcement" at Hero-Con) and a full release somewhere in February/March 2010.

Quote:I think that some metahumans would become celebrities in their own right. Some may have TV shows about them or starring them... in fact, I have one hero who retired and became a cosmetics model for a cosmetics line aimed at the metahuman community. This is a REALLY good point...would the kids simply watch the NEWS for entertainment? Would people have sponsored TV shows? Like, I know Xanatos is/was an Ad magnet at one point, would he be on like Wheaties or something? Would Sports stars mean nothing anymore? There are some really good questions brought on by this...
There would still be sports around, but you would probably see ads with a combination of metas and non-meta celebrities, like the "Got Milk?" ads for example.
Hope this helps, or raise more questions... I can never tell

Quote:If someone says, "who's the masta!" The proper response is, "Sho'nuff!"Quote:It's always better to say that as hasten fires off, just so you have the glow.
Love that movie... always such fun to watch. It's a shame that Darius Carey (who played Sho'nuff as well as Lord Bowler in The Adventures of Brisco County Jr) passed away last year.

Personally, I turned mine off for one reason:
It is a feature of the boards that I am not interested in using.

I hope that someone said the one line that I saw on a T-shirt at Origins:
"And Buffy staked Edward. The End."
Sounds like a lot of fun... too bad that I didn't see that when it happened. That would have definitely LOL-worthy.

Quote:Ahhh... wish that they would have kept that, as it could help alleviate some of the inflated prices on some items with an imposed time limit, thus making people list items at a reasonable price or risk losing said item if nobody is buying at the high price set by the seller. If an item has not sold after 60 days, it is nuked from the system. Unless you pulled them on day 59 and relisted them, they would have been gone. If you did pull/relist them, then you couldn't have "forgot" about them.
If the said items did stay longer than 60 days, then this is obviously a bug in the market system and should be /bug reported.

Quote:As someone who lived in Westmoreland and Indiana Counties for many years, I know how to pronounce those city names. Speaking of strange pronounciations, people from Pittsburgh will look at you funny if you tell them that you are looking for East Liberty... to them, there is only 'SlibertyI'm stuck on theatre and sabre and the like from my high school acting days. I also live near Centre county. And speaking of Pennsylvania, it's fun to listen to people butcher names like Duquesne, Charleroi, and Indiana.

I have several favorite names, but the one that I was happy with getting was a concept character Psi/Mental Blaster I made after finally getting a hold of the Collector's Edition of CoH and getting the Prestige Power Slide:

Also (not sure if this is working as intended or not) the Advanced Drones in the Rikti War Zone (mission instances anyway) when destroyed explode at least three or four times before going away....somewhat annoying.
[/ QUOTE ]
Definitely not "working as intended"... the animation for any mob that explodes when defeated loops over and over until the critter fades out. This happened with Rikti drones and Council Zenith Hoverbots. This has been noticed only in mission instances, but will check to see if street mobs of that type also loop their explosion animation when defeated.

Sorry, this is simply not true. When I play a good arc in MA, I like to send comments and compliments to the writer.
[/ QUOTE ]
You send mail to people's globals?
Honest question: you realize that mail is not global, right? It goes to one character. I can edit my arcs on any character on that account. If you send a mail to one of my characters, I might not see it for weeks, and that's assuming that I even look at my mail when I switch to that character. Some of my old characters have mails that I've kept for posterity, so they have perpetual red "Email" labels.
I can't imagine not prefering global messages. I know I would vastly prefer to receive that.
[/ QUOTE ]
MA arc feedback is sent via private message to the global name... it hasn't been part of the e-mail system since i14 Beta. The "Feedback via In-Game E-Mail" feature never hit the live servers. Initially, the arcs were listed by the character you posted the arc with. That was changed to being listed by global name in I14 Beta before it hit the live servers.
