That's true. My point was about when the phrase isn't unintelligible in any respect but the alphabet used. With the Do svidaniya/До свидания example, the fact that the letters don't clearly convey the sounds of the phrase is mostly irrelevant. The phrase (and anything typed as dialogue) is there to represent what is being spoken, and the first example will get the idea across to a larger set of RPers so that they can then decide whether their characters have any chance of understanding it. As I see it, other alphabets only in their use in RP add an additional arbitrary level of "unintelligibility"; whether you're literate in a language doesn't determine whether you can understand it when spoken. To me, the transliterations help simulate that idea even if they aren't ideal for the language.

And again, certain groups probably prefer using the proper alphabets and some probably don't. I'm not saying either way is wrong, but this is why I prefer not to use them.
  2. If you've run into anyone you think does the accent you want well, pay attention to how they do it. That and the links so far are probably your best bet. That list of slang links is nice.

It's not so useful for typing an accent, but I'm fond of IDEA. It has several examples of most accents, so you can get an idea of how different people from the area might speak differently, and how the accent of someone originally from area x but living in place y might have changed. The Speech Accent Archive is also nice and has phonetic transcriptions of more of its samples.

That's frustrating for me, at least, because even if I and my character at the time would understand the spoken phrase, I can't read Cyrillic script. And copying it out of the game turns it into gibberish. Besides, it's easier to type in a romanized version than switch my keyboard layout or keep a cheatsheet so I can copy/paste the Cyrillic version to respond. Of course, whether any of that is a problem depends on who you're RPing with and whether they care.
  3. When using trenchcoats on the female model, only the original Dress Shirt (with the tie included) is available as a Chest option. The bow tie that usually goes with Dress Shirt 2 is available in Shoulders for trenchcoats though. It only seems logical that Dress Shirt 2 would be available to use with trenchcoats too.

  4. My response times have been all over the place, though usually fairly quick. I'm jealous of the people saying that they've gotten GMs who sound human though. The last few times I've needed GM help in-game their English was a bit bizarre, as if they weren't quite comfortable with it or someone needed to proofread the phrase macros. It felt more like talking to a bad chatbot than a person.
  5. I listened to it in one sitting and laughed through most of it. I don't think they quite succeeded, but I can't say I'd want to listen to the whole thing again soon.

    I'm scared....

This one is exactly 100 x 100, so I'm not sure why it looks like the space is meant for a taller one.

    I'm scared....

It seems harder to read to me. Not sure exactly why, but I think it has to do with the lack of solid-color backgrounds.

Edit: And what is that bar above avatars?
  8. I hope so, but I doubt it'll be soon. I was hoping that Jay saying the high collar was available for females indicated that maybe some of the other male options were available on females too.

Thanks for the head’s up. A fix is on the way…

I've had issues when running at superspeed as well. Haven't tested extensively but I noticed it then for sure.

  10. ((Sticking this here so I can be officially done with it. It's just a short bit involving Ashtongue, aka Isis, apprentice to Mr. Dark, and the Leaden Dove, aka Ellie, his golem receptionist.))

    “Madame?”

    “Hm?”

Isis shifted on the grass, rubbing her bad leg absently. “Do you really need to watch me all the time?”

“Obviously not. Mr. Dark has asked me to keep you alive though, and you sometimes make it difficult.” Isis sighed and looked over her shoulder. Ellie stood motionless, looking across the grass toward Aeon University. At least she was dressed for the office this time instead of wearing her full armor. She looked ready for her own funeral, but from a distance she might merely look pale.

    “Is there a problem?”

Isis started, jostling her leg painfully. “N-no, Madame. Only…shouldn’t you be at the office? To answer the phone?” Pale was too weak a word, really… Maybe bloodless?

“It will not ring for some time.” Ellie turned her head to watch a group of spectral demons further up the hill, only looking back when they disappeared into the trees.

“Oh.” Isis thought for a moment. She had never asked for a bodyguard, and she suspected Mr. Dark hadn’t intended to assign her one. He kept accidentally giving Ellie orders though…

“What if I told you to go?” She looked over her shoulder again, hoping for a nod or some sign of recognition. Ellie’s expression remained neutral, but her voice was firm.

“You do not command me, girl.”

Isis mumbled an apology and returned to her work, trying to ignore the golem. After a few minutes she sighed and began to get up, but then sat again and turned to face Ellie.

    “Madame?”

    “Yes?”

“Do you know much about talismans? Like this?” Isis held up a twisted length of wire and leather decorated with bits of lace.

“A little.” Ellie paused, looking down at the sad tangle. “Have you asked Mr. Dark?”

“No… I wanted to try on my own, but…” Isis trailed off, looking at the talisman in defeat.

Ellie made a sighing sound and held out a hand, mottled armor growing over it. “May I?” Isis handed over the talisman and watched as Ellie turned it over in her hands. “It is meant to reinforce your shields?”

Isis nodded. “Against ghosts and monsters…that sort of thing.”

“I see. It is not useless, but weak. Your scope is too small.” Ellie straightened the talisman, then pulled out a few silver-white strands of her hair and twisted them around its length, sealing both ends with the same hard, dark substance as her armor. She reexamined the talisman and then offered it to Isis. As she reached for it, Isis could not help noticing deep scores across the armor on Ellie’s palms. She pulled her hand away quickly.

    “Is something wrong?” Ellie prompted.

“Madame, your hands... Is it safe to touch?”

“It is safe enough for you,” Ellie said, still holding out the talisman. “Would you take it before it burns through the armor?” Isis snatched the talisman and dropped it on the grass beside her. The armor on Ellie’s hands dissolved into shadow and disappeared.

“Madame…” Isis prodded the talisman warily. She looked up, hoping to catch a glimpse of Ellie’s palms, but the golem had already folded her hands behind her again. “Is it…?”

    “Hm?”

“Is it dangerous for you? And Monsieur’s other golem?” Isis flinched at the sudden change in Ellie. The golem remained unmoving, but her usual aloofness was gone. Instead, she stood rigidly as if waiting for a signal to attack.

“It is meant for you, not me, and certainly not that stone…thing.” Ellie looked down at Isis, her voice still sharp. “If you learn to use it, perhaps Mr. Dark will not need to continue creating inferior golems.”

Isis stammered an apology and tied the talisman around her wrist, obeying the unspoken command without thought.
  11. ERP is Erotic Roleplay, but there's a lot of debate about MRP means. Some people use it to mean that their roleplay will contain mature themes but no cybering, and some mean the same as ERP. I tend to assume that it's too heavily associated with ERP to be a useful tag unless there's a definition in the bio. Without one, it's just a generic warning sign.

also if ive mover my Point of Veiw a ways away i note that
some skirts also disapear or get cliped in the legs of others

    [/ QUOTE ]
That seems to be dependent on your character detail slider. If you have it turned down, skirts will disappear or clip even when you're fairly close to them. You can fix it (at least somewhat) by turning character detail up, but the performance loss may or may not be worth it to you.
  13. Aha. I knew this was already in here somewhere.
    [ QUOTE ]
There are several patches of skin showing up through the female baseball cap. This used to be fixable through the Cranium vertical slider, but that is no longer the case. The skin patches just travel up and down with the cap.

    [/ QUOTE ]
It's still like this on Live and Test.

Also, the double-butt effect with Plain Long Skirt is still around. For example, here the skirt on the left has one, and the skirt on the right has two, one above the other.

(Though it wouldn't be a bug fix, it would be great if the shading disappeared altogether. As is, it makes it look like the only skirt size available is "too small.")
  14. ((I can't resist... "We, the FALALA...La la, la la la la."

    Ahem.

Thoroughly creepy. I'm with the others in waiting for more.))

In the pictures that I see promoting the Justice Armor here on the official website it shows that we can change the color on the chest decorations, however, when in character creation the whole Justice Armor chest piece stays one color.

    [/ QUOTE ]
Scroll to the end of the patterns options, and there should be one called Justice. That one lets you change the chest decoration color.
  16. The problem's new, but it's not an I8 costume piece, so I'm hoping this is the right place to mention it.

The texture for the Plain Long Skirt is backwards. The back of the skirt is now smooth, and the front has the back's normal appearance, only a bit stretched and flattened.
  17. [ QUOTE ]
And please don't use them in private Tells; Just the fact that Tells are usually used for discreet, out-of-character conference should suggest that Tells are between players, not between characters...unless we're talking about telepathic communication or whispering to someone standing next to you, perhaps.

    [/ QUOTE ]
I rarely have OOC tells, and then only if someone's asking me to a join a pickup group. For me at least they usually do represent whispering or telepathy, and having the double parentheses around ones that aren't helps me keep the OOC ones clearly defined from the rest. It's not meant to be pretentious at all, it's just simpler for my easily-overloaded brain to follow.
  18. I was kind of impressed by how coherent his goodbye was.

    Fall-Girl: I have to go.
Ctab: Can't you stay a little longer?
Fall-Girl: I need to call my brother, then get some sleep.
Ctab: Okay. It was nice talking with you!
    Fall-Girl: You too! You're fun!

    But then it went downhill.

    Ctab: Hi!
    Fall-Girl: Not hi, bye!
    Ctab: I've got brain damage?!

Also, does he watch anything but "Denver: The Last Dinosaur"?
  19. [ QUOTE ]
But how exactly do you use an emote while your toon is talking? How do you time it right? How do you do those... mmm... thinking bubbles?

    [/ QUOTE ]

To emote while talking, type what you want to say, then add "$$e <emote of your choice>" immediately afterward. For example, "/local Who knows?.$$e shrug" (minus quotes of course) would make you say "Who knows?" in local and do the "shrug" emote simultaneously.

The thought bubbles include anything typed after /e that isn't tied to an animated emote. So "/e shrug" triggers the shrug emote, but "/e raises an eyebrow." would display in the chat window as HeroName raises an eyebrow. Alternatively, you could use them as thought bubbles just by typing a regular sentence. Either way, it will only look nice in either the bubble or the window since one way leaves you with a bubble over your head saying "raises an eyebrow" and the other leaves a line of chat saying HeroName I know I'm forgetting something, or whatever else you may be thinking.

I hope this is what you were looking for.
  20. It's not just the police either. Even the SWAT teams scream like small girls when something so simple as a Troll turns up. One of my more vivid memories of police activity was coming up an elevator to find myself face-to-face with a uniformed officer who looked at me and cowered before running away screaming. I realize I'm not much to look at, but I don't think I'm that bad.
