I'm very happy for all the proponents of power customization. I can't say it was ever high on my priority list, but then the devs exhausted my priority list when they announced Going Rogue.
[/ QUOTE ]
Same...
Here's your NEW priority.
New Maps. We need new maps on both sides of the game. (I think we need new zones and just can some that we already have that suck) BUT, none the less - We need NEW MAPS...
So, like... Prioritise that as something we need and advocate for it.
Kthnx -
>.> another PUG story...
Yanno they announced HUE SHIFTING today... Its so much more excitinger than yet another PUG didnt go the way it should have post -
Hue Shifting in this game! WooHa!
Now I can Keep all my buddies... Keep my Billions of ingame currency... and Keep all the characters I already love...
And never have to think twice about another super hero mmo promising all the same crap this game already has >.> -
I wasnt sebating as much asking why people wanted this over things like graphics updates.
I want pink bubbles. But I personally would rather have a graphical update that increases the awesome in new ways. -
I don't know what Open GL is. BUT, I get this STUPID Open GL error all the [censored] time and it disconnects me from the game. And then I just don't bother logging back in for weeks at a time.
Really, That ERROR is probably going to make me quit playing in the long run.
I have already had a bazillion discussions with their Tech team... and short of rebuilding my computer with sh*ttier parts... Nothings seems to fix it. And Microsoft patch didnt fix it for me.
Whatever this OPEN GL thing is, I hope they BURN it. -
which Fast Food has the best latte?
-
IMO, they should stick all their money from lineage II and Guild Wars into this game... and take all their money from all their other games besides CoX/Guild Wars/and Lineage II... and stick all that money into Aion...
And then we willz allz smilez? Amirite? -

I don't have an issue with the coming new customizations the Devs plan on bringing to the game. I just missed the boat on their importance. I appreciate the thoughtful responces some of you have given. And I do understand where you are coming from.
I personally dont like the graphics in CO, so I am not really comparing this game to that one. I just want the *3D-ness* of this game to be deeper and richer. I would like the details of the backgrounds to be more awesome looking. I think by doing that our characters would look more impressive as well.
customization to me = more impressive. -

Here's a type of customization that I think would be really cool looking, and actually add to game play:
Gimme an IO, for example a Melee IO, that adds a damage type to the attack. Either subs out a % of the old type with the new type, or just adds the new type. Let's say I put it on Slash, and let's say it was Fire. Well, next time I use Slash, my sword is on fire and the dude I hit catches on fire when I hit him. Ditto ice with the chill effect, energy with the glowie ball effect, darkness with the smokey effect, etc.
You could do that with all types of powers: add fire to Ice Blast and my ice blast goes blazing along, hitting the target with both the chill and fire effects. Add Toxic to my Photon Burst and they spew a brownish haze.
If they want to give me the ability to tint my powers' colors and its peripheral effects, all the better. I'd dig the hell out of a blue fire sword. But that's gravy.
There are certain powers that this obviously doesn't apply to, like Targeting Drone, but I think it works for the vast majority of powers. The buff sets would get a bit screwed, but maybe they can get something of their own.
I'll be super excited if we get plain ol' non-utilitarian customization, but I agree that it wont help to improve the core game at all. It'll still be awesome.

I think this would be great as well. Love this idea.
Has this already been suggested thoe? Is this part of what everyone has been begging for since the beginning of the game? -

Customization is all about roleplay value to me.
For example, let's look at two of Marvel's heroes, Cyclops and Havok. Ignoring copyright issues, both would basically be implemented in the game as Energy/Energy blasters. Since the two characters are siblings, their powers are designed to be similar. However, both characters have very unique power usage details and very unique visual appearances.
Cyclops' powers are expressed entirely via his eyes. This ties into his backstory and his visual appearance. Cyclops is never seen without his protective visor or goggles of some sort. The red 'optic blasts' have been immortalized in comic, game, and film format.
Havok's powers are emanated from his torso. The plasma blasts have a distinct 'negative' look, which his costumes always mirror and again tie into his backstory and characterization.
These are the two most common requests for non-weapon power customization-- color and emanation location control. If provided, you'd see... well a few more clones. You'd also see a greater variety of characters with more specific backstories and appearances.
For example, my energy blaster, Holly, has the ability to siphon any kind of realized energy into her body via microscopic wormholes. She can't control the release of the energy without the aid of special gloves. Accordingly, I'd like to match the color tone of her powers so they all matched rather than the blue/red/green of Energy/Energy/Force Mastery. I'd probably go with either a monochromatic effect or a 'negative' effect if it were provided. Since energy blasts and energy melee all emanate from the hands, Holly wouldn't have much reason to use location control.
Her sister, Ivy, on the other hand, is an apprentice lightning mage who controls electricity via program-like spells. Rather than having her elec/elec/elec lightning blasts erupt from her hands, I'd VASTLY rather they originate from her feet or body and arc across to her enemies rather than be 'ray' blasts. She wouldn't have much reason to change from the bluish-white lightning effects offered to heroes (I *might* consider turning it green), she would make much more use out of location control.

Thanks for the awesome reply. I appreciate it. So for you, you want both hue shifting and to change where your blasts are coming from.
Is there any other customization possibilities? -
What is it about customization that makes some of you do double flips and cartwheels? This is by far the most wished for thing on this forums, besides dual pistols.
What kind of customization is it you all want?
Some of you seem to just want the word... or have no definition behind it?
Is it "hue shifting" is that what this "need" or "desire" for customization actually is? or is it something else? When you pick where the lightning comes from? Maybe your foot? Maybe your chest?
While those things would be cool for like 10 minutes... For me, I must have missed this whole boat. I just don't see how adding hue shifting would be all that epic.
I feel the message being sent to the Devs is kinda off. :\ For alot of you who have been begging, pleading, Doing stuffs I am not spossed to kno about >.> for this "customization" ...
Don't you think this game needs things like graphical updates over hue shifting? I was playing around in Mercy this morning... Why? Not really sure. But, the cars have like no detail to them. The ground looks flat and boring. Is Anti Aliasing? Is more polygons? Something to make it look more visually appealing? Terrain and backdrops need Something. And Hue Shifting will not fix it.
Anyways, I am just wondering why "customization" seems to be for many of you, Your most wanted thing... over things like graphical updates that would improve everything from our characters to the missions we do... to the zones we go through... our individual powers would look more visually sweet.
What about a new DX11 upgrade? Is that even possible?
Oh, and what is "customization" what is that to you?
*edit*
I have everything maxed out graphically on my computer.
Nvidia GTX 260 core version graphics card - Vista - 4 Gigs Ram... Dual Core Processor...
*edit 2*
I know this game is 5 years old, but isnt there something they can do to REALLY REALLY update the look? -
If your level 18 and you play with a level 3... You get what you get...
I mean... even sked up a level 3 can't do Anything to help the team... except be Veng bait...
