  1. You get charged rent. you just don't have to pay it if you don't have any use for power. things are turned off for non paying of rent but if you don't have anything that works , no need to worry about it being turned off. When you are ready to have working items just pay the one month of rent that you have due to turn the power back on.

. I’ve noticed that he only sends out about 10 posts a month, and they are very short on content. He’d make a great politician, allowing people to “infer” his meaning.

    [/ QUOTE ]

Yes. He is the king of vague.

What will happen is that things will stay as they are of months. People will still have issues and say how everyone is giving up on bases. Then -- lets not call them fanbois, lets just say Cryptic Apologists -- will wave this post in everyones face and say we just need to be patient, Jack is working on it and CARES. Then after a few more months Jack will unveil his plan. He has determined that the solution to the salvage issue -- and to make things more FUN! -- is to make stuff cost 3X as much salvage. That way we wont have so much sitting around unused.

    [/ QUOTE ]
Actually what will be done is salvage drops will be decreased by 10X this way people will not hit the salvage max before they are able to afford a base with working tables.

    3) Fix the Prestige scaling. Higher level heroes should earn more Prestige; after all, they're more prestigious.

    [/ QUOTE ]

I do so wish people would stop suggesting this. I don't care how "realistic" it is that various flying people in tights get the same prestige as other flying people in tights. I care that the system is designed to make it equally advantageous to have members across all levels in your SG. The last thing I want is SGs saying "you can join when you reach the level cap" you'll generate more prestige then.

    [/ QUOTE ]
I have to agree with Lothart on this one. If the prestige is different for levels it will restrict the SG desire to allow lower levels in thier SG.

All in all this has been an extremely frustrating venture into CoV and one that will end relatively soon I believe. We have started playing our CoH characters again and are not even thinking about building a base in CoH. There is much more content and fun things to do in CoH at this point and no reason to pursue a functional base in the near future.

    *Frustrated Sigh*

This is the problem with the vague term "long time goal"
The Devs have thier own idea what a long time goal is and the size a SG needs to be to complete it.
Players all have their own Idea.
Without any clear guidelines on the terms from the Devs, the players are left on thier own and can get frustrated if they feel the goal they precieve is not obtainable. They will then just give up on the goal.

Which will make the bases into Arenas, a place used by only small part of the player base.
  5. Actually it is my opinion for the high cost is basicly bases are not ready yet for general use so they want to restrict the building of them until they can develop the code to make the bases work.

This is just my opinion since the Devs have responded very littlie to anything that deals with bases.
  6. Yes but some of us perfer not to use exploits to gain the extra prestige. Nor are we asking to have the bases handed to us. What we are asking is a realistc time frame to obtain basic functionality within normal play means.

Edit--- Or have a Dev explain the Visions of Bases. What is the minimum SG that can get a functional base in the design time fram they have set for the bases. (averge time /averge play/averge SG size)
    ---end edit

I am speaking from a small "Casual" VG. And we are in SG mode100% of the time. And Group together on missions (even when we alll die 8 times in the mission) and We are making about 50K per week. For 1 mill that will take 20 weeks to get if the current rate stays constant and that doesn't take into account that we will have paid rent 10 times within those 20 weeks.

As I said before I don't mind playing towards a goal, but in gaming world 20 weeks is a very long time before you see any benefits. (Image if it take 20 weeks to get your first power, you be bored with the whole thing and quit)

I think a reasonal time for a "Casual" SG to get a starter base with one function other that looking pretty would be 1 month of playing. Specially since the members would likely be maxed out on salvage by that time.

I don't mind the light at the end of the tunnel as long as I can see the light.

    [/ QUOTE ]

I hear you on that. I know several people who it took over a year to get their first 50 because of their casual gaming styles. Should we cry to the devs to make the XP gain and leveling easier because it takes some players 52 weeks to get their first 50 and unlock the epic archetypes? Some things take time depending on your lifestyle. It's the way of the world.

Also a raidable base is a far cry from a functional one. A functional one costs about half the price of a raidable one or less depending on what you want to do. If you want to just craft then it will cost you 750 K for a basic base with crafting. Deduct your membership prestige bonus from that and the price can drop all the way to 450 K.

    [/ QUOTE ]

It took me 9 months to get my first lvl 50. I did not mind it. nor did I expect to take less than that for my style of play. But the difference was that I got something as I took that long to show progress I got new powers at new lvls instead of waiting until lvl 50 to get them.
  8. And they will say "See we did it. So Suck it Up and quit your crying about how hard it is"

I don't mind taking time to reach a goal. As long as that goal can be reasonablely obtained by having fun and playing with my SG members towards that goal and see some benefits of that , instead of grinding work as a SLAVE to an OVERBEARING DICTATOR of a SG Leader.
You may enjoying being part of a Grinding SG. I perfer enjoying the game playing with my SG members.

I would consider a functional base to be one with A working Worktable or a running teleporter or an infirmary. True it may not do everything you'd want it to do but it will DO something. Those of with reasonable expectations have already built their basic bases. One would think that this fact would have silenced the outcries of "Make it cheaper!" and "I'll NEVER be able to afford a base"

Apparently facts and dedication really don't mean much.

    [/ QUOTE ]

I think a lot of those that have are Established SG with High level Characters that also have a lot of Inf to spend on prestige.

The newly established SG/VG that don't have High level characters to rely on I bet are having a hard time getting anything Functional.

My VG are all under 15 in level and are just havng problems getting enough InF to pay for thier Enhancements much less using it for prestige.

And we are averging 50K a week now so to earn 1 mill for the minimum functional base that has been presented in previous posts would take 20 weeks at our current rate and membership
  12. to add to my previuos post. When a person can go from lvl 1 to lvl 10 create a SG/VG and the enterance room all with in one weekend. Two months can be seen as a very long time with the idea of not seeing any benifiet until that time.
  13. I agree that a base should take time and grow with time. One should not have a uber base right off just like no one should start at lvl 50 . The problem is the time vs preceive rewards. Yes you can show with math that a VG/SG with 10 people playing 10 hours per week can get a base in 2 months. And that is good but some basic assumsions are made in that caculations. IE they are constantly preforming at that rate. In real life there are variables (What lvls are the players, How are they playing, what else is going on that may affect the progression).
And while in the long scheme of things, 2 months may not really be bad in getting a base. The player really are have a hard time seeing that goal. I mean in character leveling they can see a progression as they level up to 50 from the moment they start. In base building there is nothing but seeing how little balance they have in relationship to where they want to be. And that where I see part of the problem is.
  14. That is the thing about math you can prove anythign including that it can take a SG one month to get a small functional base. As long as you chose the number you want to use and ignore other facters such as aditional costs, (rent builds etc) time constaints, what game people are playing, what level they are (all 50s or just started playing so they are all less that 20) the actual time they play without getting bored with what they are doing etc.

Still the only thing matter that people are having problems with bases (such as maxing out salvage cause they don't have working tables and the Devs are suprised that they don't (Pos post))
And still there is no response from the Devs on the issue and what thier grand timeline and scheme for bases are and if things are working as they are meant to work for the general player base.
  15. My little SG is making 30K per week . Based on a base of 1.5 million /30K = 50 weeks to make that base.

Mathematically its not possible for anyone not even the largest SG's to ever afford the largest plots of land let alone be able to outfit them.

    [/ QUOTE ]

    Hmm no that's not true...

75 people, 40 hours a week, 2k prestige per hour.

That works out to be 6 million prestige per week. 25.8 million prestige per month. That means the above group could buy the largest plot of land in 5 months and 2 weeks.

Rent on that would run them around 2 million/week, at 3.5%.

    [/ QUOTE ]
Maybe you can find those 75 people that can do that and hopefully they will rent themseleves out to help the others in the game.
  17. I see your "if" but I still do not see a Dev post that supports your statement.

And before anyone says anything . I'm a member of a 3 person VG. I don't expect to have a PVP base anytime soon .I should not have one . It should take time and work to get a basic functional base. But The current prices and rent make having anything function a long way off, if ever.

But What I do see is a total lack of response from the dev as to whether the system is working as design or what that design is.
  18. I have not seen anywhere that the Dev's have posted that there is a problem with the Prestige and base system. None in the Dev Digest or elsewhere in the forum. If you have proof of such post please post a link to it so the rest of us can see it.
  19. I opened my box and it too was misison Ghost Widow. I got mine from Software Etc. but I beleive they are owned by Gamestop.
  20. Happy Aniversary. i did not get in on launch , got in in may. But after a year still having fun. I enjoy the little things in the game that makes it unique and that one can see that the devs do take an active particaption in the game community. Hope many more years of game play.
  21. I had the Shadowhunter mission the one where you have to pour holy water on the bones. I was not paying attention when I picked it and It was Timed. one hour mission.
  22. Congrates to all the winners and everyone that submitted an entry. There was some real work done on those customes. I don't see how you were able to get them done in the short notice of the contest while still playing COH.
