  1. I just noticed this behavior recently, but in the opposite manner. I have two older toons with the left shift/mouse teleport bind and on those the targeting circles appear when I hit the Shift key. I just created a new toon, used the same bind, and no targeting circle appears at all, just the normal mouse pointer.

    [/ QUOTE ]
You will still want to be close to the soft cap, as AV's will resist the to-hit debuff from RI quite a bit. I would say no less than about 40%. I would also suggest keeping Ring of Fire and slotting for damage. When I have gone up against AV's, the biggest problem I had was a lack of single target damage.

    [/ QUOTE ]

If you're lacking in ST damage, you should take & slot Ice Blast. It's even better than Fire Blast for pure DPA. Would certainly give you more utility than Smoke (I'd move Hibernate to 49, IB at 41, take a slot each from Ice Storm & Ice Armor, 3 more from somewhere else, and 6-slot w/Thunderstrikes for more ranged def too). If you have no particular desire to solo AVs, I guess there's no real need, but since the OP asked about that...

BTW, you need around 39% def to softcap vs. AVs w/RI running (slotted w/3 Enzymes). Considerably lower if you're planning on using insps, of course.

    [/ QUOTE ]

Good suggestion on the Ice Blast for ST dmg.

I should have been more clear in my post that the build for my Fire/Rad that I listed is NOT intended for AV soloing. It is more of the typical large spawn decimator. I posted it so the OP could see an example of perma-AM, perma-Hasten.

1 How much recharge is needed for perma am/hasten.

    [/ QUOTE ]

Just about 70% global recharge will get you perma AM, and very, very close to perma Hasten. I have 68% and Hasten is only down for 2 seconds.

2 Are the unique heal procs (miracle/numina) sufficient to put in radiant aura instead of having to take health (I really like the movement capabilities of swift and hurdle together) since I don't mind just using the heal every 2 minutes for them to work (and when I need then I probably will need a heal)

    [/ QUOTE ]

I would not do this. Slot them in Health. You will really want as much end recovery as possible, at all times. Hot Feet, Choking Cloud, and the rad toggles will use huge amounts of endurance when they are all up.

and 4 Anyone bored enough (and can't play due to work or whatever) to post some sample builds that incorporate perma am/haste and decent ranged defense into a fire/rad/psi build with superjump as the travel and choking cloud/cinders/and emp in the build (assuming hotfeet of course)

    [/ QUOTE ]

Not exactly what you asked for, but here is my current build.

(Please note that this is built for tackling large groups of regular enemies, not AV soloing, so is lacking in both single target damage and ranged defense)

I'm pretty sure you can get the new CoH: Architect Edition in Canada. Someone asked about it a while ago, and a Canadian player reported that the Architect Edition boxes were available in game stores.

There are quite a few Canadian players in my SG, and I'm pretty sure they bought their copies off the shelf as well.

If you haven't seen CoH in stores, it's possible the game boxes aren't in your area (or sold out, etc). But they certainly do sell the game in your country.

If your local game stores don't have any boxes on hand right now, you could always ask them to order a copy for you.

    [/ QUOTE ]

Why can't the OP simply buy the full game from the NCSoft Online Store? They sell full versions of the game there.

They'll put the code for the game he bought on his account, then he logs in and upgrades his account thru the Use Serial Code, and once his account is upgraded he'll have full access.

    Edit: nvm Zombie said it.

    [/ QUOTE ]

This is the simplest way to do it. He does not need to buy the actual boxed edition of the game at all.
  6. OK.. Level 4, and sitting in City Hall ready to go.

    5. Plant/Therm
    6. Plant/Emp

Nice variety of secondaries there. All we need now is FF, and we'll have all the bases covered.

Building a new rig is waaaay out of my league, so any help identifying a complete set up would be greatly appreciated.

    [/ QUOTE ]

I will just say that this is a very common misconception. My 62 year old mother built her own PC in 4 hours with parts she ordered online. Pretty much anyone that can follow basic step-by-step instructions, can do the same.

There is more effort involved in deciding what combination of parts to use, than the actual physical process of putting them together into a functioning unit.
  11. [ QUOTE ]
You can keep repeating it, but it doesn't make it true.

MA has been a fantastic success, and one that's provided a shot in the arm to a game that's going to face some stiff competition.

    ok saturday it is.

as for sets the only restrictions im going to have are that were all trollers. otherwise id like to see all different kinds, tho id like to see some different kinds so lets get a list of what you are thinking of making if your going to join us. im going to probly be doing Fire/Rad.

    [/ QUOTE ]

Fire/rad is awesome.. Just finished leveling one up to 50 myself.

I think I'll be going with Ice/Storm, or a slight chance of Mind/Emp. Are we planning on starting this upcoming Saturday?

I am 100% in for a Saturday troller superteam. Any theme been thought of so far.

And echoing Scrappy's question, are we going with any particular themes or sets here?
  15. [ QUOTE ]
custom mobs are becoming more and more off limits and as a result what will be the point of MA? I fear its dangerously close to being another Arena, COP or base issue.

    [/ QUOTE ]

Between the clumsy way they handled the farming debacle, the nerf to the ticket cap on Test, and the over-powered ranged attacks, I can't see MA going any other way myself.

I fully expect the next thing will be to lower XP, influence & prestige awards in MA missions. There are simply too many ways to manipulate the custom enemies to provide situations custom tailored to certain AT's & powerset combos.

That will be the final nail in the coffin for Issue 14.
  16. [ QUOTE ]
    Just my opinions:

If you are gaining xp with 0 risk, it's abuse (if you can herd/pull 3 critter groups and drop them all in under 3 minutes with over 50% health/end remaining, I'd call that close enough to 0 risk). This includes door sitting.

Doesn't matter if it's a Dev mission or not.

    [/ QUOTE ]

Awesome.. So my AR/EM blaster running the wall in Cimerora is "abuse"? Or doing something similar with my fire/rad controller? Because I guarantee I can drop 3 groups in way less than 3 minutes with either of those.

    [ QUOTE ]
If you are gaining levels faster than 1 per hour (beyond level 5), it's abuse.

    [/ QUOTE ]

I guess I had better stop running any more Taskforces unless I am exemplaring down for them as well. Wouldn't want to "abuse" the system.
  17. Same here, including coalition bases.

Probably because you can't discuss culture decline without discussing reasoning behind it. That always leads to a discussion about powergaming and farming. This in turn leads to people defending their chosen method of game play.

    [/ QUOTE ]

By "defending their chosen method of game play", you mean "igoring the discussion in favor of just tossing insults at people who don't think farming is necessarily a good thing", right? Because I've yet to see a one of you actually engage in defending anything. Tossing fecal material at people you disagree with does not consitute "defending your opinion".

    [/ QUOTE ]

The humor boggles the mind. That anyone could consider disagreement and pointing out the obvious flaws in a position, especially when that position is little more than "I don't like it make them stop" as tossing feces.

Now here is some feces that has been tossed

She is also frustrated with the attitude that players who do something she does not personally like take (namely that they shouldn't have to change their behavior at all, regardless of the fact that said behavior is a cause of frustration for certain other players), because she believes that, as adults, other people should be forced to change their behavior because she seems to be unable to control or deal with her own frustration.

<Yawn> Go back to the kiddie table and let the grownups talk.

    [/ QUOTE ]

While I am sure this seems to you to be an amazingly witty and sardonic comment to make, since you keep repeating it in just about every thread where people disagree with you, in reality it does not make you come across as very "grownup" or mature at all. Just the opposite, in fact.

I suspect that many of the folks who have a position that is different than yours, are also mature, successful adults. It may make you feel better to dismiss them as "kiddies", but it doesn't make your position any more correct.

All you've done in just about every one of these threads is exaggerate and rant about how "farming" is ruining the game for you. Nearly every one of the things you have said is the complete opposite of my experience in the game since Issue 14 came out.

I have had ZERO problems forming or joining teams of any type since MA went live. I get tells quite often out of the blue asking if I would like to join regular mission teams, or taskforces. Amusingly, I have not gotten more than a handful from strangers that were asking about farming teams.

Sometimes I even get requests for things that I do not want to do, perhaps because I am already involved in something, or it is for something I don't particularly like to do. When this happens, it does not become something that " frustrates me and causes me to want to pull my hair out", as you said that farming does to you.

If I am running around the Shard working on False Nems for the badge, do I get frustrated and "want to pull my hair out" if I get a tell asking me to join a team running a level 50 Carnie arc? Nope...

If I'm in the middle of a TF and I get a tell from a level 22 fire blaster asking me if there is room on the team for them, do I get frustrated and "want to pull my hair out"? Nope...

If I'm running through Atlas Park while doing a mission and I see a bunch of chatter in broadcast, do I get frustrated and "want to pull my hair out"? Nope...

And if I am running a farm mission, and someone asks me to join their mission team in Croatoa, do I get frustrated and "want to pull my hair out"? Still nope...

I don't let other people's behavior affect me or my state-of-mind, any more than absolutely necessary. (BTW, that approach works wonders in real life too)

Are there obvious exploits available in MA that tip the reward scale too far to one side? Yes. And most of the farming crowd acknowledges that. But this "debate" was never about that anyway, it has been about beating the same old tired horse, just with a bit more drama and lots more tears.
