They already exist. He is talking about the Cold Domination and Thermal Radiation corruptor sets.
-
he only wants an AS DoT so he can 1 shot people in PvP again...
-
But orbiting death looks so cool...
You could take it (don't slot it) just to stand around looking flash when not in combat. Keldians have more power choices than they can really use anyway. -
[ QUOTE ]
Poison Melee seems to have been a fairly popular suggestion for a new Stalker Primary for a long time now...
[/ QUOTE ]
But Stalkers arn't getting a new set. Power proliferation means getting a set ported from another AT. -
[ QUOTE ]
Energy Armor for stalkers has an end drain, cant remember the name but i know there is one.
[/ QUOTE ]
Yes it does. There isn't a problem with stalkers having end drain. The issue is, Energy Absorption isn't and end drain power, it's a +def power. end drain is the secondary effect. as such it drains much less end per mob than Power Sink (the one EA has) and has a significantly higher activation cost. -
They are all different, because they reflect different people's play styles. There is no "correct" WS build. The only way to find out is to try things and see what works for you and what doesn't.
[ QUOTE ]
a good build and i mean a GOOD!
[/ QUOTE ]
If by "GOOD!", you mean "a build that will make me uber", there isn't one. WSs can be powerful, but it requires considerable player skill to achieve, whatever your build. -
Energy Absorption is a funny one. On a tanker, it is used mostly as a +def and aggro grabbing power. It's not very efficient for end recovery, indeed, unslotted, if you only hit one mob with it you will have an net loss of end. Clearly it would be suicidal for a stalker to jump into the middle of a big spawn and use EA to boost thier def, but it could serve as end recovery with both end mod and end rec enhancements slotted. The net result is to overal weaken the defensive efficency of the set, which is already compromised by loosing CE (-DMG -recharge).
Therefore the replacement power would have to be pretty good (unlike Shadow Dweller!), and I would go for Shiver. This would combine some of the function of CE with some of the function of Caltrops in Ninjitsu.
Hibernate? Well, Blasters get it... -
Heroes probably will have electric armour after issue 12, so I wouldn't rule it out on that basis.
However, it fails conceptually: bright flashes, crackling sound, makes it hard to hide (jut try and hide a working Van De Graaf generator in a dark room!).
It also fails on the grounds of being a resistance based set. Just look at the poplularity of Dark Armor stalkers to see how good resistance based sets are for stalkers.
So I would rate Ice as being the second most probable choice after stone (IMO). -
Asuming stalkers need yet another gimped defense set, Invunerability would be ideal.
Lets take a good look at invunerability shall we?
1) Resist Physical Damage: +5.83% Resistance (Lethal, Smashing) That's not going to keep you alive long with stalker hp, but at least it stacks with Temporary Invunarability
2) Temp Invulnerability Self +22.5% Resistance (Lethal, Smashing) not bad, but res isn't as useful as def if your hp are low
3) Dull Pain: Yes, good
4) Resist Elements +5.63% res F/C/T pathetic. Not worth bothering to take
5) Unyealding: -4% def. This really hurts a stalker. It even makes it easier for someone to unhide you with aoe attacks than any other stalker.
6) Resist Energies: +5.83% res NRG/neg even more pathetic
7) Invincibility: will suppress Hide, so has to go
8) Tough Hide: +3.75% S/L def This is not only pathetic, it doesn't even stack with the def bonuses from Hide. You would be better off taking Manouvers, at least it would stack
9) Unstobblable: No problem, fine
So, I make that a total of 5 powers that would need changing in order to make stalker Invunerability playable. How many powers can you change before it stops being a port and becomes a completly new set?
And if you are talking about the consept not working:
1) If you are invunarable, why do you bother sneeking around?
2) If you are invunerable why do you have so few hp? -
Play. If you find yourself running out of end frequently, then pick up Stamina.
-
Illusion stalker is a nice idea, but it would have to be an almost completly new set, rather than a direct port of the controller set.
Would go well with Psychic Weaponry primary. -

clumsy rock thing that probably walks with loud *smash crash* noises
[/ QUOTE ]
You are not a "clumsy rock thing". The only power that does that is GA, and I would expect a stalker to use that power a lot less than other ATs.
[ QUOTE ]
fire, well, burns brightly.
[/ QUOTE ]
And makes loud crackling noises.
[ QUOTE ]
The EM pom-pom lights are already silly
[/ QUOTE ]
It's how you interpet them. It could, for example, represent martial arts chi, rather than actual visible light. This is a comic book world remember.
[ QUOTE ]
Assassin's Mallet.
[/ QUOTE ]
I doubt they would use the mallet for the AS. I would like to see a stalictite stone spike, but they would probably use the stone fist effect to save work. -
Placate replaces Taunt. Ice Melee already has Build Up.
[ QUOTE ]
For Icicles and Chilling Embrace, simply remover the Taunt elements would do, I guess
[/ QUOTE ]
Doesn't work. As soon as they affect a mob with any effect, Hide suppresses, the mobs see you, and you die.
[ QUOTE ]
Brute can have Regeneration or Super Reflexes . I guess.
[/ QUOTE ]
/Regen Brute = God Mode
SR brute doesn't fit concept. You don't duck and dive whilst becoming increasingly mad with rage.
-
Well, as I said in the general discussion thread, I think Brutes will be getting Ice Armour (but not Ice Melee) back.
-
Oh, Ice/Ice was my first thought. I think Ice melee powers, such as Ice patch would be good on a stalker, but quite a lot of work would need to be done to make it work, and I think they are only porting things that can be done quite easily this session, and stone/stone needs minimal alterations.
Ice Melee has two powers wich would have to go: Freezing Touch and Frozen Aura. One can become AS, but what replaces the other? You need to make a completly new power, therefore lots of work. Edit: looked through possible powers that could be ported from other sets, and the only real option is Ice Sword Circle.
Ice armour also has two powers that have to go: Icicles and Chilling Embrace. One becomes hide, but what do you do with the other? Again, you need to make a new power. Loosing CE hurts the defensive capability of Ice Armour to. Futher edit: Shiver would be my choice for porting.
So, porting Ice/Ice needs a whole lot of work.
But Stone/Stone, Seismic Smash becomes AS, Mud Pots becomes Hide, do a little reordering, and you are done. Easy. -
It fits the concept perfectly. Looking like stone is perfect camoflage. Who would expect a rock to stab them in the back?
And I would roll one. It would have a lot more PvE potential than the average stalker.
And the powers are ideal. +def shields. Excellent mez protection with regen. +max hp. Psi def (very useful with psi blasters on the way). A togglable panic button. -
The StoneKiller emerges silently from the stone wall, of which he was a part, and sends a stalagmite of stone piecing through Drakmarth's heart.
He then vanishes back into the ground. -
Talking of buffs, Frost Breath also got a buff to its aoe.
If you where to slot it with ranges and taunts you could make it into quite a good aggro grabbing power. -
That's probably because you, like so many players, have forgoten that GA is not the only power in Stone Armour.
-
First thing to remember with stalker sets: foe affecting toggles suppress Hide, so they are out. One can be swapped with Hide, but Ice Armour has 2. Hibernate could also be problamatic. So I discount Ice.
Fire and Elec I discount on grounds that resist sets are poor for stalkers, and because it's hard to hide when you glow in the dark.
Invun, it's key power, Invincibility would be replaced by hide, leaving it with all those low value passives and -def mez protection, it would be teh gimp. So that's out.
Conclusion: Stalkers will get Stone Armour.
Therefore they will get Stone Melee to go with it. -

As I saw in US forums...
Instead of 'Darked Illussions', the set could be named 'Shadows'... very villainous...
Shadows/dark FTW
[/ QUOTE ]
Whilst it's a nice idea, I can't see Illusion getting much more than a cosmetic makeover.
Replacing Group Invisibility or Spectral Wounds with a second fear power would make it feel more villainous, but it would also make it flat out better than the hero version! -
For Ice armour, you want everything apart from Permafrost, perhaps Icicles, and just possibly Hibernate.
-
Ah, but human form PB is much better than human form WS.
-
The storm debuffs will make them beat each other up less effectively...

Thermal and Empathy are two of the greatest sets of the game
[/ QUOTE ]
Have to say, I seriously don't share this opionion (especially about empathy).
But Empathy for villains is one thing that isn't going to happen.
