  1. Two things I'd want.

    1) An easy way to move fully furnished rooms while editing. I find myself having to completely delete a room and starting it over when all I want to do is change its location.

    2) Increase the max amount of items you can have in your base. We have 6 workbenchs at one time (all 3 tech and all 3 magic) but when the invention tables came around, I had to delete 2 to make room for 2 invention tables. I tought about increasing my base size, but saw the max limit for all the bigger bases were the same... we're currently on a 20x20 plot size.
  2. Depends. I'm not sure at this moment if the selling price for the IO during a respec will be set at the price the IO was made at, or the price it would cost the respeccee* to build it.

*Didnt know how to call a person doing a respec. So sue me

    [ QUOTE ]
The price of Invention Enhancements, when sold through the process of a respec is now based on memorized prices, not the normal build price.

    [/ QUOTE ]

Ack! NVM, I guess it's universal. It will always be sold at the memorized prices.
  3. Question, aren't we supposed to ba able to slot only one unique IO per toon?

Obviouisly they can't take into account everyone's schedule, but -- and this is just a wild guess -- I suspect a majority of people playing the game are fathers themselves and/or have fathers. [bold]So, taking Fathers Day into consideration before scheduling a 2XP weekend doesn't seem like an extraordinary expectation[/bold].

So, my point is this. This thread, Ex being dragged down to play babysitter keeps getting done because (as far as I seem to understand it) of sillyness.

    [/ QUOTE ]

Wanted to highlight this cause it reminded me of something I learned while playing this game, wich I tought had some relevence.

This is the first MMO I've ever played. So when I started, I had to come to terms with alot or terminology (BRB, BRT, OMW), ya I was really new to the MMO scene. I also realized that I had to learn what people meant. Not in terms of defining what they were saying, but making their intentions clear.

What I mean is, we communicate thru writting, not talking. So not being able to see the persons face, or hear the persons voice, you can sometime loose what the person is really trying to say. So this can lead to misinterpretations.

So my point is, what is a tongue-in-cheek joke to one person, can sound like a sarcastic remark to another. Wich leads to the conversation going downhill from there.

So coming back to the subject at hand (wich was tolerance), when you read a remark that makes you mad or confused, ask the poster what they meant. Instead of trying to see something between the lines that really isnt there.

Well said, I couldn't have said it better myself dude !

This part of the Forums is about us and for us. It is about showing people what we are like. If someone is maybe interested in switching to a new server, and is thinking of joining Protector, this would be the place to look to see if they think they can fit in here.
It used to be that we went out of our way to try and make everyone who posted feel like they could belong... And now many of us who have been here for ages no longer do.

    QFE!
  7. Well, if it helps, from now on everytime I make a thread, I will add "dont be afraid to have fun here" next to the title.

And no I'm not being sarcastic and yes I am totally serious.
  8. Ok, all of what I'm going to say is just personal opinion. I just read about half of the pages in this thread, and couldnt keep up with it since its growing by 2 posts everytime I'm finished reading one. I also had to bit my tongue at a few of these posts. So I decided to just post my toughts real quick. Don't know how it's going to be perceived, but oh well...

First off, I love this server. First one I ever played on. Made a few toons on other servers, but just didn't feel the same. Heck, if I could, I'd make 100 toons on this server with my one account, but I can't. I love the people, the community, the team spirit, EVERYTHING!

Do we have "cliques"? Sure we do! Is that a bad thing? Like someone else in this thread mentioned, since our community is smaller than some others, it's only natural that we know "mostly" everyone. Of course this is going to lead to the forming of "cliques" or to lead certain people to avoid others. NO ONE IS PERFECT! But we still get along. Heck, our community recently won open Hami raids on both hero and villain side (props to DirtWolf), wich prooves that we CAN pull together and over look our differences.

As for the threadjacking, do we do it? Yes! It's one of the reasons why I like this server. Not the threadjacking per-say, but the fact that everyone here has a great sense of humour. I lost count at how many times i sounded like an idiot cause I was laughing out loud at work in front of my PC. BUT! I do it on OUR forums. If I have a serious question, I will go to the Player questions, or AT forums and so on. If I post something on protector, I am fully aware that threadjacking (a.k.a. sometime senseless babble wich makes this server fun) will ensue.

Like someone mentioned, this server is known (or at least used to be) as an "opened-armed" server. When I first started reading the Protector forums, I remember having this feeling too. Every thread would be filled with people spouting one-liners and inside jokes. This is one of the reasons why I wanted to stay here, it seemed so opened. Then, for reasons I ignore ( I was absent from the forums for a while, apparently this is when it happened ), something happened that changed our community. Since I wasnt there, I won't comment on it since all I know would be hear-say.

What do I think could be done to fix this? I don't know... cause to be honest, I dont want it to change. I want my Protector back darn it! I want Ishmael and Badge shooting one-liners at each other! I want Dirtwolf swearing up a strom!I want my regular dose of bad fish/Chuck Norris jokes!

    Anyway, enough babble from me.

Take care all, and see you on the front lines.

(and bring beer and pie )
  9. I dont see any info about the electric mastery set for blasters here.
  10. I feel the same about EA now. We went from "I'm constantly out of end!!!!!" to " I have perma RA". Just keep casting EA with minions around you and you'll never run out. Not to mention the resistance to slow it gives now, beautiful. Combined with WI, we are now impervious to every status effect in the game. I believe this to be a very good trade off to whatever else we did loose. As for wet ice. I did my respec yesterday and only have one slot in now (the one it came with, and its an endurance reducer). And I also took out all thye other end reducers too. And you should see him now. He works better than before I5!!!! Still cant really tank AVs tho

Just a little idea i was thinkin about to make hibernate a more usefull power. It is the final power in an ice tanks primary so why not make it act like a final power and make it usefull. Yes i think it comes in handy from time to time but all in all not used much at all. Reason being you click the power on and are pretty much a sittin duck surrounded by baddies. So now what your sittin there surrounded by ice thinkin wow im surrounded now what. Well how about when you click the power to break out of the ice instead of just the ice breakin off you in chunks and then left standin there how about make it an pbaoe that damages all foes around you when you click power to free your self from the ice. Im not talkin super damage but moderate would be nice. So once you break free you damage all baddies around then makin your job of survival a little more reasonable. It would add a little more damage that ice could deal. maybe makin the animation more of ice shootin off you instead of just crumbling off to the ground. Well thats all just a thought but i think would make people think hibernate is worth taking. Also the time the power takes to kick in is a bit to long maybe shortening that to a little woule help out. Well just a thought i would like to hear what others think.

    [/ QUOTE ]
I like this idea But instead of damage... make it knock back and slow. So that it gives us some time to react after coming out of hibernation. And I agree that the activation time needs to be severly reduced. This power is supposed to save us... but it takes for ever to activate. So what am I supposed to do? activate it while I'm still in the green? I understand the devs don't want to make it too uber cause then ice tanks would never die, we would just go possum instead when we were close to hitting pavement. I say lower activation time, increase recharge time.

Ya, I know how it feels. You guys can go to my thread called ballad of the ice tank to hear some stories from my fellow ice tankers. Some good, some bad and others just plain funny

I think that it will soon be announced that EA and WI are intended to no longer provide defense.

    [/ QUOTE ]

I tend to agree. Its part of why I think we're not getting any answers. I've looked at your numbers, and come to the same basic conclusions, but a deeper analysis shows that the two sets do not match up...

Fire Shield provides 30% base RES S/L
Frozen Armor provides 15% base DEF S/L

Problem there is this. If one is 30% the other should be 30%. When not taking DEF scaling (misnomer because its really Accuracy scaling) into account 1% of DEF is exactly the same as 1% of RES.

Therefore to be equal, the base DEF for Frozen Armor would have to be 30% for them to match up.

The same is not lining up here:

Plasma Shield provides ~30% base RES E/N (planner says 32.5% actually)
Glacial Armor provides 15% base DEF E/N.

Again for them to truly match up, Glacial Armor would need to be the same ~30% but as a base DEF.

Then look at Blazing Aura vs Icicles...

    Blazing Aura:
    0.75 EPS
    0.6111 Brawl Index
    AoE 15 feet

    Icicles:
    1.5 EPS
    0.5556 Brawl Index
    AoE 5 feet (melee range)

There's a huge difference there, with Blazing Aura being better in all respects. Cheaper to run, better damage, larger radius (both are likely cheaper to run on test I imagine).

Also because of the factors that make RES a constant vs enemies and DEF not so much a constant that the DEF values for Ice should probably fall at 5% higher than the RES values for Fire to compensate.

I would say its probably likely that Burn and Chilling Embrace do line up some now. Both Damage and Slows are affected by mob level difference - thus they become less effective the wider the margin. Though I'd personally say that now CE might actually be a more useful power than Burn.

    The major disparity?

Being weak to Fire is a much larger problem in this game than being weak to Cold. Fire is simply much more prevalent. Therefore you should really be taking that into account when balancing the two weakness out towards one another, and that would mean that Ice should get slightly better Fire protection than Fire gets towards Cold.

As a side, the Psi thing is a joke. Stone Tanks still get (I think) a 15% base DEF vs Psi (haven't seen this tested, but I figure it go the same 40% reduction other DEF based powers did). So Psi is not a weakness for all Tankers. In fact, Stone's only weakness is Slows really, as they are affected greater by them. They have no armor holes really.

If Fire and Cold are the weaknesses for Ice and Fire, than that should be it. The Psi thing is an old statement when its flat out not true from the moment your mind formulates the words. Let Psi be the Invuln weakness, and let the Fire and Cold thing stick on Ice and Fire. And I'm not convinced that Slow is enough of a weakness for Stone.

Realistically, my basic thought is this. If Ice is indeed the DEF based Tanker, then it should be able to achieve DEF values that everyone else in the game has to work to achieve. That would be a better way to handle it.

As for RotP and Hibernate? They're both nice powers (I have RotP on my Blaster), but reality of the story is this: neither are well thought out 9th tier powers. They both function, but they're not Mog, Elude, Unstoppable, or Granite. Its just that simple to those, neither compare.

So I still think that for either set you drop their auto power (Temp Prot and Permafrost), and slide everything else down a level and make creative level 32 powers for them that are better in line with the other level 32 powers.

Once again I agree with Circeus. And still can't believe he's not getting paid for this
  14. I've tanked to lvl 46 with my ice tank and never got tough or combat jumping. Does this mean that if I dont get it for I5 I'm pretty much screwed? I've always believed that a tank shouldn't need to go to the power pools to get more defense, our primaries should be more than enough...
  15. I have a few questions....

    1. Is Statesman reading what we're writing here and taking it into account seriously for possible changes/improvements?

    2. Or did he just start this thread to keep us occupied while he's busy dealing with other issues?

    3. What are the chances of an ice tank reaching 50 post I5 if the changes on the test server go to live as is?

    4. Was the accuracy nerf Statesman actual answer to the ice tank issues, or is he just buying some time while he and his team tries to find practical solutions for the ice tanks?

    5. If the accuracy nerf is Statesmans answer, is it just for the ice tanks?

    6. Do people think we're in for a "bait and switch" as the invulnerability tanks had?

    7. What is the reason for nerfing ice tanks in the first place? It's not like we were the most powerful to begin with.

8.Can we expect Statesman to answer any questions we are asking here, or does he have the habit of posting answers and then letting it thread into a zillion posts before he comes back to see what people had to say about his changes?

Oh! and by the way... I read it as "crying out" and not as actual "crying" too. Didn't even see it until someone pointed it out.

    Thank you for your time.
  16. Hello all!

First off, thank you Statesman for acknowledging the ice tank issues. And thank you for the accuracy reduction in the ennemies post lvl 40. It is well appreciated... by everyone.

Thank you Circeus for taking all the time to test the ice tank on the test server. Without you we would still be in deep trouble.

Now, I'm not going to repeat all that's been said in the previous posts. I don't need too. They are all good ideas that deserve being looked into. And the ice tank issues (both on live and on test) have already been clearly identified. Besides I haven't been on test, so my knowledge of I5 is limited to my trust in my fellow ice tank testers. So I will give my personal analogie of what I have experienced on the live servers.

Playing an ice tank is like playing russian roulette with a six-shooter. Yes we can avoid alot of attacks, but one shot will eventually go off. Pre-40, I could usually bite the bullet and keep on going ( thank you Dr Radix, Red Lover, Last of Yra and all the other empaths on my list), so I could still tank with the best of them. Post-40, that's when we have to face those AV defense-piercing one-shot bullets. These I can't do anything against, even if I had 7 empaths with me on an 8 man team.

Statesman, reducing the ennemy accuracy helps, but it doesn't take away the one-shot bullet... it only adds another chamber to the six-shooter.

What we do need is a bullet proof vest...

Please can I put in a request for EA to be modified. I don't know the real numbers but let us assume for the sake of argument it grants 3% defence per opponent capped at 14 opponents. Can we get this adjusted to say 10% for the first opponent + 2% per extra one still capped at 14. This would make AVs much more survivable without changing the large mob dynamic very much.
