BUMP.
Still crashing fairly often enough that I can't run any missions without fear of crashing.
No fixes yet anywhere.
I've since decided to do a very desperate move and installed the Omega Drivers for Nvidia which are version 169.25 of Nvidia. Basically 3-year old drivers for my GPU card. (dec 2007 I believe they are?)
This is neither healthy nor good practice but I'm out of options. We'll see if it still crashes or if another solution crops up. -
No, I only have the one video card, so there's no reason for me to run in SLI mode.
-
The game is getting quickly unplayable. Bump.

Bump.
Issue 19 has passed and I'm still crashing at random intervals during play. -
An odd error message today...
It said it had trouble reading the disc in drive D (my CD drive...) and then exited out. -
BUMP with another error message

C:\Windows\system32\en-US\erofflps.txt -
My CoX game consistantly crashes. It crashes when I'm idling in Atlas, running around, not focused on the game, and very often during any missioning or fighting. At times it won't crashes for hours, and other times it'll crash upwards of 10 times an hour.
Here is one of the error descriptions I get when it crashes (from the most recent crash) - underneath it is the CoHHelper and Hijack This! logs. I've got the most recent version of all my drivers to my knowledge, so I'm not quite sure what's causing it.

Nvidia Geforce 9800 GT
Windows 7 64-bit
I get flickering once in awhile too, and sudden and random crashes that have nothing in common with each other -
It's actually Windows 7 (Unsure if NT6 is part of that, they're related but not at the same time.)...
I've ran memtest over night, no issues, I've also updated my Nvidia graphics card to the newest Beta drivers.
Beyond that I can't seem to find updated sound card drivers, and I had some suspicions that those are the main issues.. I've downloaded the newest Realtek drivers but they were of no help whatsoever since they apparently didn't even change the verison number. (meaning they did not install correctly >.<)
Unfortunately the built-in sound chip is just listed as "High Definition Audio Device" using MS drivers. I'm having issues finding updated ones past the ones I have besides the unworking Realtek. -
It finally crashed again, taking its sweet time now that I was wanting it to. Memory Usage at time of crash was 1.05 GB, about the norm.
Here is the dump logs.

-- -
I have steam running, but I do not run the game through Steam, I don't even own a steam version of CoH to do so.
Also it's a crash to desktop. Next time it occurs, I'll copy and paste the message I get. -
Bump.
This is getting annoying, at times it won't crash for a few hours, and others in bursts of 3-4 minutes.
ANY help is appreciated. -
City of Heroes tends to crash on me very often, whether it be in the middle of a battle, or simple idling in Pocket D or in Atlas Park, generally without warning. So far I haven't found out a way to directly cause a crash, so as far as I know, they're random.
Here are the logs. I know the sound card drivers are out of date, but I'm unable to find ones that ARE up to date, regardless, CoX crashes when I have sound options set to 0.

There's no harm in changing the icons to better accommodate most players. It's a QoL improvement, not a very hard swap, and just simply makes things easier.
Yes you CAN learn to work around, yes you can sit there and right-click every single enhancement until you fine the one you want, and god forbid you don't have good memory, you can do that AGAIN every 5 some levels.
...or you can make it slightly easier so you don't have to do that. I don't see a negative to just swapping icons. The flavour text and descriptions stay, and colors stay, the borders stay...
"It never used to be that way, stop being lazy and use the long way" is not a valid counter-point to this. Nor is "get over it and memorize the locations".
...I infact double-sign this until the mouse-over glitch is fixed, as I'm also afflicted by this. -
I'm actually having the same crashing issues... CoX ran fine and stable until earlier this week around Tuesday or so. I haven't made any system changes, and I don't think it's an overheating issue.
But it just seems to happen completely random, either when I enter a large battle, or just simple idling in Pocket D or Atlas Park.
I have 4 GB DDR2, a Geforce 9800 GT, and a dual core AMD Athleon 64x processor. -
I was attempting the mission in which you stop Scirocco from completing his rituals, and having some trouble beating Scirocco himself as I was soloing, I died once... flew back.. died again and rezzed on the spot and got him low, but was about to die a third time.
Knowing he won't follow and won't regen faster than I can, I backed off, rested.. only to find out that he was defeated.
By something called "Monster Slayer".
Anyone have any idea what this is? I feel totally robbed of my epic win! -
Rather then post two seperate topics for two seperate missions, I just decided to post them both into one.
I've been toying with the MA and have created two arcs and I'm hoping to get some feedback, I ran them both through a friend who caught most of my glaring mistakes, wrongdoings, and typos. (And boy were their typos) -- but now I want to run them through a bigger community for more feedback.
So here they are!

It struck me as an idea while wandering in the in-game casinos in St. Maritals.. why don't we have an actual casino-esque minigames?
Well I understand the possible implications with gambling acts, but assuming it's not real money being spent, and only infamy/influence it shouldn't be an issue... (so we can avoid the Second Life issue, and get it more akin to say.. Yohoho Puzzle Pirates).
Either way, the games could carry a number of badges, and be a downright awesome money sink (Afterall, the casino ALWAYS wins), and even opens itself up to a few missions. There's always competitive games too, such as poker.
--
And yes, I realize my idea is rather silly and a large amount of work. Not to mention it doesn't fit into the game's genre.. but hey, it gives a place for the Gambit wannabes too!
