  1. One thing occurs to me - it's suprising that letting a required Boss escape does not fail the mission, I mean it would in the normal game. You need to remember that this might be bugged behaviour that could be 'fixed' at some point.

    /edit
No, wait, you're not doing it that way now are you? Nevermind.
  2. If it is I can't find it either. Something we have to hope they add in the future I guess.
  3. [ QUOTE ]
    3) Nosferatu runs at 75% HP - this won't fail the mission if he escapes.. Taking down 25% of his HP is much easier. He can't afford to be caught doing what he's doing, and an escort spawn with the main mission objective appears in the path he'll run down, which will hopefully distract the player and let him escape. There will still be a final fight, as that other EB guarding the exit will still be there. Defeat Nosferatu is not a vital objective in the story and if it were possible I'd make him optional, but a required objective (the escort) needs to trigger off him.

    [/ QUOTE ]
This would be my prefered option, as long as the mission briefing is clear that Nosferatu can be allowed to escape.
  4. This bit caught my eye:
    [ QUOTE ]
We did the math: if everyone in the in the game made three mission arcs and maxed out their file size for stuff we would store 9GB on the server.

    [/ QUOTE ]
I did my own math and I make that 30,000 subscribers. Am I out of touch or does that sound low?
  5. I first heard about it from a PC Gamer article (for a while they sort of gently championed the game). Then when I was out of work and bored I realised that I had free trials for CoH and WoW on recent cover disks and gave them both a whirl. (This was 2005 - around I5).

If I remember rightly WoW didn't even make it to the end of character creation. Maybe I shouldn't have tried CoH first...
  6. Can anyone confirm whether Choking Cloud is (or isn't) affected by
    a) Accuracy set bonuses or
    b) Accuracy from slotted set IOs like Acc/Hold ?
  7. Personally, I'd go with 5 Mako's Bite + BU proc, but whichever you decide I think you should definately include the proc. I don't think you should mix and match the damage and to-hit sets with frankenslotting though, you'll end up not doing justice to either aspect of the power.
  8. I've found that moving the power generator in the editor will wake things up immediately.

    Any need

    [ QUOTE ]
    Funny thing happened today.

Two people left the group I had just joined because people started to swear (I did not partake in the swearing part btw). Especially when they tried to avoid the profanity filter.

So apparently, some people do mind. I wonder what such people are doing playing a game where you 'arrest' people by shooting them full of holes though.

    [/ QUOTE ]
I don't swear in-game (for me it's always been something I say without really thinking and typing just doesn't work like that) but it doesn't bother me. People trying to bypass the filters though does annoy me. There's a difference between "speaking the way I always do" and deliberately trying to ram it down other peoples throats.
  10. Tankers and Warshades. My WS has been gathering dust longer than any of my other characters, been remade a couple of times but still sitting at 15ish. Tanks I've tried a few times (I have an Ice/DM at the moment) but they always seem to sit around while I play other alts. Can't say exactly why, they just don't excite me.
  11. For once I managed to stick to my plans and leveled up my controllers.
    Friday: 12-14 for the Mind/Emp
    Saturday: 20-29 for the Fire/Rad
    Sunday: 25-32 for the Ill/Kin
Overall the main thing was I had great fun with some great teams. I even managed to round out Saturday with a Task Force, something I haven't had time to do for ages. Great weekend.

    Which Server?

Heroes on Union and Villains on Defiant, more or less equally split. I've spent most time recently on Defiant but I'm thinking of coming back to heroes (and Union) for a while.

Thank you very much for you hard work Midnights!

I run my computer at 1152x864.

    [/ QUOTE ]
    Me too.
  14. Thinking about this from the new patch notes:
    [ QUOTE ]
Fixed issue when an attack power was in animation, you were unable to turn off a toggle. The fix now allows for all toggles to be turned off except costume changing powers.

    [/ QUOTE ]
Other than temp powers which just change your costume, how many powers does this cover?

I've come up with the Kheldian forms, Granite Armour and possibly Cloak of Darkness, any others?
  15. [ QUOTE ]
    [ QUOTE ]
I doubt would be quite as simple as the OP suggests, but it would certainly be a welcome edition.

    [/ QUOTE ]

I say it's relatively simple. It should be simpler than implementing any completely new graphics feature, due to experience with the subject matter and existing code to refer from.

Only BaBs can say if the idea has merit, and he doesn't come to these parts much.

    [/ QUOTE ]

Whether or not our ideas are possible is not really our problem - as you say that's up to the devs. This is a cool, original and "non-game-unbalancing" suggestion and therefore fulfills the only reasonable criteria for the Suggestions forum.

    /signed.
  16. While I'm certainly not averse to puns (currently VenoMiss - Thugs/Poison MM; Infernal Combustion - Fire/Fire Brute) my current favourites are:

Illusion of Choice - Ill/Kin Controller - a name which fits in style with my other controllers (Force of Will and Trial by Fire) but also works on a couple of different levels (at least for me).

K'rn - Ice/Dark Tank - I couldn't tell you why I like this so much as it's basically just a random selection of letters but I love it. I don't really RP but K'rn does tend to refer to herself in the third person quite a lot.

Harlequin Homunculus - DB/Nin Stalker - conceived as a deadly toy (broadly inspired by Mr Syn from The Talons of Weng Chi'ang) I love the alliteration and the rhythm of it.
  17. That's a known bug. I think there's a fix in the next build (the one on test).
  18. [ QUOTE ]
SoA having Brute PPPs is a place-holder IIRC.

    [/ QUOTE ]
They went to the trouble of removing the Gauntlet effect from the SoA versions of the powers in their latest build (notes in the training room forum) so this may be incorrect.
  19. I had the idea to use the new Attribute Monitor to keep track of my Thugs Bruiser's Damage Bonus and hence his Fury level. Just out of curiosity.

I can certainly view his stats in the full Combat Attributes Window and even select his damage bonus to monitor but the monitor window seems to only show his stats while the CAW is open. When the main window is closed the monitor seems to revert to showing my damage bonus.

Has anyone else tried this or anything else from their pets's stats? Has anyone seen anything on how (or if) this is supposed to work?
  20. [ QUOTE ]
    First response I'd make is, . . .
    <lots of sensible stuff>
. . . I think I would try this if I were doing it again (or respecing) but it wasn't a great issue to me by any means.

    [/ QUOTE ]
Good points, well argued. I had to put off Stamina until 24 to get Placate (and Dull Pain) in early and AS/Placate isn't a very duo friendly playstyle.

    [ QUOTE ]
I'm assuming, from your post, that Dull Pain is another power that once I know exactly how it works, I'm going to like a lot. It does sound good. However, I'm really not struggling for mitigation right now. I tend to either be one shotted, or survive by running, and hitting my self-heal. Mainly the latter. Duel pain increases my health, so I'll take the point now, it would likely prevent some of the one-shotting.

    [/ QUOTE ]
Yes, I think you'll find that you like it . It's not just a HP boost but also a sizeable heal. It's not quite as good for us as it is for Scrappers (starting with more HP) but with this and Instant Healing running you'll be suprised by what you can survive.

    [ QUOTE ]
I've just taken 1k cuts at 32 over the weekend (a fun little move) and still don't regret Aid Other at 30. I used it so many times over the weekend's teams, I'm halfway to the first heal badge. It is a life-saver and a team saver and better still, it doesn't reset the re-hide counter, so by the time I've moved to someone and healed them, I'll be hidden and ready to crit or even do another AS. I think healing whilst waiting for hide is considerably better team play than standing around or just scrapping. I don't understand why you see it as 'lonely'.

    [/ QUOTE ]
You really suprised me here. Aid Other is so often only taken by combat ATs as set-up to Aid Self that I couldn't see why you took it on it's own, but as you describe I can see it fits. Excellent thinking.

    [ QUOTE ]
    32 1k Cuts (New attack)
    35 Dull pain (New survivability)
38 Recall friend (New support (I really want this power. I still do a lot of duo'ing with a MM, and it'd be handy to ghost and recall him a lot of the time.))
    41 Sweeping strike (New attack)
    44 Instant healing (New survivability)
47 Resilience (New survivability, likely need more slotting than revive)
    49 Revive (Just useful).

    [/ QUOTE ]
Just to complicate matters, you might want to take a look at the revamped Moment of Glory (currently on test). It's turning from a power of debatable usefulness to what looks like an excellent Panic Button.

    Happy Stalking
  21. [ QUOTE ]
I thought all tier 3 pets had similiar mez protection to Bosses anyway. My tier 2 pets have mez proection too. Thugs MM as well, but I'm pretty sure it's not just us.

    [/ QUOTE ]
I've been wondering if it was something like that. It's certainly the simplest explanation, though I haven't seen the same thing on the Enforcers I don't think.
  22. /Poison, and he's just got 1 Acc and 2 Damage slotted so far.
