I've made more changes than that in a year's time and the only time I ever had to reactivate was when I did a clean install.
BTW, if the changes are made over time, the activation counter does normalize to your current configuration. So if you only changed sound & video one month and a few months passed before doing more changes, the system will have normalized to the changed hardware and treat it as baseline.
So bashing XP because you don't like activation is bunk. Even moreso since your cited reasons are false. It sounds more like sour grapes towards Microsoft than being anyhting wrong with Windows.
Perhaps you should read up on how activation works rather than spout off anti-Microsoft crap. Otherwise, you just appear to be nothing but a Linux fanboi.
For the record, Windows & Linux are both good. Just how good depends on what use you have for them.

ease up there. who are you, bill gates' personal towel boy? -

Hmm..... last time I checked Windows XP upgrade cost $89..... so with that $99 you could buy the actual operating system, have NO compatibility issues and still have enough money for 10 Frostee's at Wendy's! Now why would I want to pay for this program?
[/ QUOTE ]
Operative word, upgrade. You have to upgrade from an existing version of Windows. IIRC specific versions at that. It also leaves you with a non-working coaster if you ever fry your entire HD. A complete version is far more than $89.
BTW, the main reason XP shall never taint my HD. I make 3 changes to my machine and I have to call Microsoft for a reactivation code. Let's see, in the past year I've upgraded my video card, CPU, RAM, botherboard, case, went from a CD-R to a DVD-R/CD-RW and switched between my external sound card and the mobo's on board sound card about 6 times. I'm thinkin' there's at least 2 calls to Microsoft in there somewhere, if not 3. Of course all of that is avoidable if I fork out the money for XP Pro.
Ooooor I can run Linux, have an OS that does what I want it to do instead of tell me what it thinks I should do and support Transgaming with the overall money and time I save.
Of course I am still having problems getting CoH running. >.<

what's happening when you try to run CoH? -
'DOOOOM! we're all doomed!!!! the end is HERE!!!' the maniac screams as he runs into the bar.
one guy looks at his friend and asks, 'we're all doomed! what are you gonna do before the end?'
second guy replies, 'i'm gonna #### anything that moves! what are you gonna do?'
first guy replies, 'i'm going to remain as still as possible!'
*rimshot*
yes, i posted this on another 'doom' post. had to be reposted tho -

personally i love reading these posts from armchair programmers such as comfort. really i do. people with no real knowledge about what they are trying to speak of, yet they continue to talk out of their [censored] as if their word was gospel.
code me something as good as CoH and maybe i'll acknowledge your skills. until then, you are nothing more than a windbag flexing his internet muscles. -

i honestly believe that if you don't have two consecutive hours in the day to complete something, that you should stop wasting your time playing video games and learn some serious time management or get a less hectic schedule.

I honestly believe that if you spend more than two consecutive hours in front a computer playing a video game you need to get out more. Just thought I should mention that since we were talking about what we believed!

*snicker* no kidding. what's this 'out side' everyone speaks of? no four walls? no glow of the monitor? /e runs away screaming in terror! -
. <- this is the world's smallest violin. it's playing your song of pity. really.

agreed. this is about teamwork and good tactics and planning. by far one of the most fun task forces in the game too. i love the waves of baddies rushing the reactor and having to whack em as quickly as possible, going from one side of the room to the other. good insane fun. a good team really shines here. i've done it with groups of 4 and groups of 8. both ways are just as easy if you are working together. oh, and if you have a bubbler, you can pretty much go to town
.

heh, if you think it's this hard today, you should have seen it before they lowered the difficulty. quite frankly i think you're having a run of bad luck. a good balanced team of gimps can finish this if they work together and take their time. i know, i've done it many times. it's a great mission and a lot of fun, if you don't try to overdo it. find a team that works well together. that's the best advice i can give you. if you've got a bunch of hotheads running in and agroing everything and getting everyone killed, quit the team and move on.
remember - teamwork is ESSENTIAL to finish this mission. the first door mission you get is the make or break mission. if your team sucks, you'll know it on this mission. you can then try to get them to straighten up, or quit and find another group. that's the best advice i can give.
i seem to be quite redundant this evening. cold medication will do that -
hmm...this sounds all too familiar now. yeah dude, get some help. seriously. whether it be from your family or from a doctor, but make it a point to speak to someone. isolation isn't a good thing. my girlfriend is always worried about me staying in all day and not leaving hte house except to work and occasionally shop. personally i like staying in, but i do go out and hang with my friends once in a while. this almost sounds like you're trying to avoid life to play a game. you've set a goal, another lvl 50. fine, you've got the rest of your life to do that. right now it is more important to step back and evaluate all of this with a PERSON. not me, the guy on the other end of the link, or the rest of the folks here. we mean literally NOTHING to you in the long run. our advice shouldn't mean more than that of your family. they are obviously concerned. you have an obligation, as family, to listen to their concerns.

welcome to the first stage of dissociation, and possibly psychosis. i would recommend seeing a psychiatrist immediately. no i'm not kidding about this. you could have an underlying mental illness that hasn't been noticed, or has been ignored. don't get to the point i was at before you seek help. (not video game related)
oh, if the shrink moves right into giving you drugs after one session, get another doctor. no doctor worth his degree will start handing out samples like candy.
seek help! and don't train mobs on yer family. it's a CoC violation. -
