I was on a team yesterday that:
A) Had a team wipe due to several people attacking the next group while three people were still dead. And we didn't even have a full 8 man team.
B) Wiped again when we charged in and aggro'd three full groups in one of those big wide-open sandy troll/FBZ cave rooms. This was the final room (with mission target in sight) of the third mission of an AE arc with only 3 missions.
Right after this, one person complains that the AE mobs are "too hard" and we should quit and do something else. Several more agree, with one saying "two team wipes on one mission is pretty extreme".
/e headdesk
I guess we were looking for a mission easy enough that we could be total idiots and still not die.... -
/regen is perfectly easy to level without stamina.
/dark is not easy at all. -
I teamed with a Warshade tonight, who formed a team around level 11-13 at the AE building in Atlas and then asked, "How do I get a mission?" -
My first character Organica was originally katana/dark. People told me that stamina would help, but by the mid teens I decided to delete and reroll as a katana/regen. Which wasn't a bad choice, especially back in those earlydays. ^_^
But yeah, stamina WOULD have helped if I'd lasted that long. -

This thread makes me feel all warm and fuzzy inside. :3

Which is entirely true if you're a muppet. -

2 accounts and close to 270 characters, here. Yes, I logged every single one of them in. It *Is* tedious, but if you want the badges for em, then you'll do it. I did a server each day.
[/ QUOTE ]
My hat's off to you. You're an example to hardcore badgers planetwide.
[/ QUOTE ]
Ok, now I have to count...
Virtue - 17 & 16
Freedom - 12 & 12
Infinity - 12 & 12
Justice - 11 & 12
Guardian - 8 & 4
Victory - 12 & 12
Liberty - 9 & 8
Protector - 10 & 1
Pinnacle - 6 & 4
Triumph - 5 & 5
Champion - 6 & 3
So that's... um... (busts out the calculator) ah... 207?
I got a lot of work to do, apparently, to catch up... but I've logged nearly all of them in this month, so that problem's solved! -
There are more than 12 powerset combinations, and waaay more than 12 looks via the costume creator.... -
Oh, that's good!
Yeah, a steampunk character can be a bit of a challenge. I've been wanting to make one myself, but haven't come up with anything just yet. -
I think the real question is, if I can go back in time via Ouro, then why can't I go back to May 2007 and get the 2nd year anniversary badge that all of my characters are missing? -

Schrodinger's Zone.
[/ QUOTE ]
...that would be totally awesome.
[/ QUOTE ]
It's a very small, square zone. It has one catgirl in it.
...Or perhaps, one catgirl corpse. -
But the real question is, do you move those characters to new Day Job locations while you're at it?
Yeah, I got 2 accounts and many servers are full. Well, Virtue, Freedom, and Victory at least, maybe Justice and Infinity too. I don't keep count, I don't keep spreadsheets, I do have characters who I have not logged in since sometime in May or June 2004, but I've spent a lot of time logging in the others recently. Even though I'm not THAT much of a badge fanatic, I think "this is my ONLY chance to get this badge, I might as well do it!". -
As the game gets older, people get whinier. That's what's happened to the game. -
[ QUOTE ]
Yeah..it's not easy for me though. To be both frank and honest I'm getting a little tired of everyone on the forums being like "it's so easy, I can make x amount by lvl whatever". Well I must be an idiot because I just can't do it. I've tried, I've read different guides, but what I read just doesn't seem to translate to the actual market. I'm either reading outdated stuff, or I'm just really really REALLY unlucky with prices......
[/ QUOTE ]
Please note that the advice people are giving requires patience. Patience is the #1 requirement for making money at the market.
For example, when selling things, I will place a lot of stuff at 5 inf to sell right away, but I check prices and anything that routinely sells for, say, 50,000 influence or more, I will place at a price a bit below that... say, 41,000 influence. That way I guarantee that I get good prices on the stuff that usually sells for good prices. When doing this, it's also important to not ask for too high a price... you still want your stuff to sell relatively quickly. Just because a lot of people are buying the item at 50,000 inf does not mean a bid of 50,000 inf will move quickly. There might be dozens or hundreds of people listing their item for that price. On the other hand, your listing of 41,000 influence might well sell for 50,000 influence anyway. It may take hours or a day, but you will get your price.
When buying things, place your bids and come back the next day. If you buy it immediately, you're probably paying too much.
I would very much recommend some of the tactics listed here. Pretty much ANYTHING that sells regularly on the market, you can buy low (with a wait time of a day or so) and then sell high. Buying uncommon recipes at low prices and vendoring them is a favorite tactic of mine when starting out -- at level 50 I think an uncommon set recipe sells for 5,000 influence to the store, if I remember right. You can often buy them for much less than that.
But the important part of the equation is patience. Impatient people sell low and buy high. Patient people make money from impatient people.
Even barring that, you can put in low bids for the crafted IOs you want and probably pick them up within a few days. A lot of people that craft to get the Field Crafter badge dump their IOs (especially the lower level ones) on the market for whatever they'll sell for. Rularuu knows I've done that a few times.(field crafter on 4 charactes so far!)
Finally, to answer your original question, I usually don't bother slotting much of anything before level 17 if I can get away with it. Those levels fly by pretty quickly anyway. -

And hey, where the hell is my moon zone???
[/ QUOTE ]
The moon zone is not what you think it is. Very appropriately, it butts up right against King's Row. They decided to utilize that blocked off entrance on the back end of the zone. I just hate to think of what problems will rear their head with it.
[/ QUOTE ]
And now it becomes clear why we'd need an underpants zone... -
I'm working on an arc sort of organically and so my ideas are going in several directions at once. I wanted to have a base for an invading army and I was kind of working on an idea of airships and a Steampunk feel, although I'll probably need to go in a different direction. Anyway, several questions have come up:
1. I can use the Arachnos Sub Base map, but I can't put in destructible subs, I guess.
2. Despite the existence of the Skyraiders and the Nemesis, there don't seem to be many (or any) maps with any kind of airship / Steampunk feel, or even a base with airships. There's the Arachnos snake map with the lander (a couple with a high tech Arachnos lander actually). I can add destructible one-person Longbow airships and pretend they're something else.
3. I was looking for that Longbow map that is a ship at sea, and then you can enter it. It doesn't appear to be available?
4. More generally, how difficult would it be to construct a Steampunk-feel mission? What maps would work? Could you avoid making it a Nemesis mission? I sort of want to do something that involves Steampunk Sky Pirates, you know. -
What kind of souvenir would you make? "This is the souvenir that you magically got for doing nothing. It all started when MrCaptainMan asked an innocent question on the forums...."

I did have problems with the escort, because I would exit even when I didn't appear to be standing in the red area.

Yeah, bug with the map. That was annoying, and I hope they fix that soon.

I never did find the help I was supposed to need to defeat the EBs.
[/ QUOTE ]
Oh, man. That last boss must've been a pain without those dudes. What I did before I found help was to lure the EBs over to the friendly spawns. Worked pretty well.
[/ QUOTE ]
Well actually the final boss was already engaged with one of them when I found him, so I found help at the same time as I found the final boss. All of the other guys were just around the corner or just down the street doing other things I think. -
Happy birthday RobertoLyon!
<.<
>.>
We got you a nice Sister Flame mission arc.... -
I should mention that I ran this with a level 48 fire/SR scrapper, set to... Relentless, I think, mid-range setting. No AVs, but some very tough EBs. I fought my way carefully through mission 3, made use of inspirations and used Elude a few times, and never died.
I did have problems with the escort, because I would exit even when I didn't appear to be standing in the red area. That was annoying. I managed to get him to the right spot on the third attempt.
I never did find the help I was supposed to need to defeat the EBs. I found some police guys hanging around by one of the tents, but they were not inclined to go anywhere. I think they were beating up guys before that, but their help to me was essentially nil. Later on I ran into some of the other "help" that spawned, but it was mostly groups battling each other out in the streets and ignoring me. That, mind you, adds a great deal to the feel of an invasion going on. After I'd killed the final boss, I finally "linked up" with some guys who wanted to follow me around and help, but by then the mission was over.
I didn't mind, I'm a scrapper so I can save the world on my own.I really like that whole 3rd mission though, it's very long but it winds up feeling like a giant chaotic invasion is going on all around you, and that's what makes the whole mission. Aside from some hilarious scripting for the contact as well.
-
You can make your custom mobs only spawn in a certain level range, in other words. -

[ QUOTE ]
I'm not sure precisely HOW he did it, but one of the missions in this arc achieves that effect pretty darn well.
[/ QUOTE ]
[ QUOTE ]
If I add 20 Patrols, this *suppresses* the normal spawning of baddies. For example, after setting up patrols to be triggered on the glowie, upon entry to the map there were almost no baddies present.
[/ QUOTE ]
Tell you what... I'll tell you how I did it... But first you have to play Invasion on Earth BX1132! and tell me if that's the sort of thing you want.
Ah-HA! The old bait-and-switch. Kinda. It's not very long, if you kill all, it just pushes 2 hours. Under an hour if you only do mish complete objectives.
I'm just not comfortable with publicly showing where all the wires are yet. I kinda stumbled upon it, and the first time I tested it I was blown away. As my good friend and SGmate Mighty Pain put it, "that third mission is pure awesome-sauce". Truth is though, I got lucky.
Toss me a tell and/or PM after you've checked it out and I'll give you a layout of what I did. Bring somebody who can put out some good damage and can take some too, and be prepared to ditch the stealth.
Oh, and, thanks again, suedenim!
[/ QUOTE ]
Ok, the first mission hasn't even finished loading and already I think you deserve 5 stars just for the contact's opening pitch. Hilarious!
*edit* Mission popup: also pure win!
