Oddly, I underbid even on salvage. My inner flipper refuses to let me pay buy it nao when I can list a price, goof around for 15 minutes roleplaying in SG chat, then pick up my goodies.

    [/ QUOTE ]

For my purposed "buy it in 15 minutes" is as good as "buy it NAO". Usually.

I am, for example, incapable of bidding 100,000 or more for uncommon salvage, no matter what it seems to be selling for. If the price is through the roof I'll put a bid in of 25,000 or 35,000, maybe 50,000 or slightly higher if I really DO want it NAO. But if I have to wait 15 minutes, that's okay by me. ^_^

On common salvage I'm happy to bid 35,000 or 50,000 a piece if it's scarce. Alchemical Silver, for example, I almost always spend 50,000 or above on, that's just what they sell for. I don't know why in my mind uncommon salvage at that price seems so much more expensive.. I'm just still in the mindset that uncommon salvage should be dirt cheap. ^_^

I kind of have the same problem with Rares these days... I'll bid 750,000, 800,000, 900,000... but I just assume that these days I should never have to pay 1 million for any rare. So far I've been proved right.

Another way to look at it is that if you do get the right purple drop, you can sell it and be set for life.

    [/ QUOTE ]

What is this 'set for life' concept of which you speak? I'm unfamiliar with it.

Seriously, I have 300 mil on my main character right now and I don't feel set for life at all. I've never even slotted a single purple before. I have a very nice IO build (about as nice as I could create short of purples or Beefcake's billion influence PvP plus defense item, which I'd slot if I had one) and it probably cost me 300-400 million all told. And you know what? I want to do the same to several other characters. So... 300 million is not enough to make me happy.

I *might* be happy once I get multiple billions spread across multiple characters. We'll see.

At the same time I was on a team the other night with my level 34 (now 36) MA/Invince scrapper, and someone asked me what epic pool I was going to pick. I said I wasn't enamored with scrapper epic pools, and several people tried to convince me of the merits of a few of the powers, such as Focused Accuracy.

I explained that FA was only a 20% accuracy bonus and was a big endurance hog, and I could easily get more global accuracy with IO set bonuses... and I don't think I convinced anyone because most of my teammates did not slot set IOs at all. One said, "But with FA you can remove an accuracy IO from each attack and slot for more damage!" Yeah, I looked at it that way 2 years ago when I had that power too. ^_^ Back then 280 million WOULD have set me for life. Now? I need more than that to fix up just this one MA scrapper the way that I want... and I have so many other alts....
  3. I just need a spam filter.

Then I can set everything = spam, and be done with it. ^_^
  4. Yeah, I buy salvage generally at the buy it NAO price, because I'm more than going to make up the difference when I sell the crafted enhancement.

The exception is when I'm buying in bulk (say, to craft 10 of a given IO). Then I'll set a more reasonable "buy it within 24 hours" price.

(When I saw this thread title I thought, "Sure there are limits. 1. What people will pay, and 2. The 2 billion influence cap per character (not counting storing influence in AE slots). )

  5. Organica

    Active Build

A second build allows you to pick different powers like a respec would, and then you need to buy all new enhancements for that build. After which, you can switch between the two.

So for example, you can have a "PvE" build and a "PvP" build. IF anyone did PvP that is. There are a lot of other uses, though... say, a kheld who wants a "human only" build and also a build with 2 or 3 forms... or someone with knockback powers might create a second build slotted for maximum knockback, just to have fun, or you might have a "level 50" build and another build slotted for low level task forces (with lower level IOs)... or a "stealth" build created specifically for stealth and teleport for use on long TFs... all sorts of things.

Most people only need one build, of course.
  6. Whether you find the VG you want or not, you should join one or more of the global channels. VU2009 or Virtue's LRSF. A lot of TFs and all raids (Hami or Rikti Ship) are open to whoever is available. In the last 2 weeks I've been on 2 hami raids, multiple ship raids, the Lady Gray TF twice, Imperius TF once, the new Kahn TF twice... everything but Statesman TF and the Shadow Shard TFs I guess for hero-side level 50 content.

V-side is about as easy to find teams for high end stuff via the server channels -- although if you can find a regular group of people to run stuff with, that's a bonus. But it's not quite like some games where if you want to raid you need to belong to a raid guild.

Maybe joining a hami or ship raid or a few SFs will help you find the right VG for you too.

I think it's 60 days from a deactivated account now.

    [/ QUOTE ]
um, and that differs from what I said in what way?
I said: "I believe we still have the 60 day WW purge system for accounts that go inactive."

    [/ QUOTE ]

And not only that, but if your account is not active for sixty days, all of your Wentworth/Black Market slots can be purged!

Whoa, that's some costume... why is she called Mouse Police?

    [/ QUOTE ]

Thanks! It's taken from the Jethro Tull song "And The Mouse Police Never Sleeps..."

    Muscled, black with steel-green eye
    swishing through the rye grass
    with thoughts of mouse-and-apple pie.
    Tail balancing at half-mast.
...And the mouse police never sleeps ---
    lying in the cherry tree.
Savage bed foot-warmer of purest feline ancestry.
    Look out, little furry folk!
    He's the all-night working cat.
Eats but one in every ten ---
leaves the others on the mat.
...And the mouse police never sleeps ---
    waiting by the cellar door.
    Window-box town crier;
    birth and death registrar.
With claws that rake a furrow red ---
    licensed to multilate.
From warm milk on a lazy day
to dawn patrol on hungry hate.
...No, the mouse police never sleeps ---
    climbing on the ivy.
    Windy roof-top weathercock.
Warm-blooded night on a cold tile.

...so yeah, technically she's just another cat girl.

    [ QUOTE ]
I love the name Mouse Police so much, I drew what I thought it should be.

    Mouse Police?

    [/ QUOTE ]

    That's awesome! ^_^

I do play with a lot of people who think Mouse Police is supposed to be a mouse, and I can understand why. (Although when I was on Test recently the first night they were testing the Science Pack, Castle was in Icon's in Steel Canyon and said, "Mouse Police! Do you ever sleep?' And all I could think of was, "He knows who I am? And what does he mean? I don't post to the forums THAT much!" So I said, "Of course I do!" And only 10-15 seconds later did it occur to me that he was one of the very FEW people who actually knew the song, and here I blew my queue!)

Anyway some of Mouse Police's costume have cat ears, but only one was a full cat look... but recently I went back and gave some of the other costumes a full orange tiger cat look, to try and emphasis that she's not really a mouse. That's one reason I wanted to get some current pictures of her costume, so here we are (luckily the Roman breastplate is a chest detail piece, so I can do tiger skin/fur beneath it):

    Mouse Police front
    Mouse Police back
    Mouse Police side
    Mouse Police other side

Let me remind all those who post their character or are thinking about posting. This is for fan art virgins only. if you want me to draw you character and already have fan art let me know. You name will go to the bottom of the list but I will still draw yours. If I find out that you have fan art and didn't make any effort to tell me I will not draw you toon. Plain and simple. I will make a list and post it later tonight or ealry tomorrow.

    [/ QUOTE ]

Well in the interest of full disclosure, I know quite a few artists. I've never had any of them draw any of my superhero / coh characters, though. (I have a sketch from Foo now though, look! ).

I've been involved in other types of fandom for a few years -- I used to do an Elfquest fanzine, and I write for a sci fi fanzine called Tai-Pan. So feel free to put me at the bottom of the list, it's not like I haven't had people draw other characters of mine before. (And I keep meaning to commission my friend Chuck to draw one of my CoH characters, he's not a gamer and he mostly does furry/funny animal stuff, but he reads a lot of superhero comics (a LOT) and is very good at different artistic styles and approaches, I'm quite sure he could do a good picture for me. And he probably needs the money. )
  9. I'm going to before I go to bed tonight, I've been on a team this whole time so I don't have time to stop and find a good picture
  10. You're going to get a lot of replies to this post, I wonder if you want to limit it in some way?

Anyway, I'll toss Mouse Police into the mix:

    Mouse Police

I'll have to see if I have a better picture of her lying around.

I think someone's been skipping class to farm AE. >.>

But yeah, there's one in Croatoa and one in Founder's Falls. Not that 98% of the populace ever visits those two campuses.

Maybe part of the problem is that these universities have no sports and no mascots!

And what would Croatoa's mascot be? Would they schedule games against the Miskatonic University Fighting Cephalopods?

    Wall of Surplus

It's me, sorry. I started crafting and selling two weeks ago too. Clearly, the market can't sustain two more of us.

Actually I've noticed a big slowdown in the sale of crafted IOs lately too... but I just thought I was pricing mine too high.

On the flip side, 2x exp weekend might solve that problem.

    New to Ebil

Or Doctored Wounds, or Titanium Coatings?

Actually I make money off of all of those right now. Would be interesting if they *did* grow more rare... and you had a nice supply of them.

But I have no idea on your theory. I guess if people spent the 2x exp weekend outside of AE, ALL recipes might suddenly grow a bit more rare... and salvage would dip in price a bit?

  16. Congrats! I manage to hit 50 on my first villain over a year ago, just a few days after VEATS went live.

...and I haven't hit 50 on any character since. I have multiple characters above 40, and I was just thinking about this the other day... why have I gone more than a year without another 50?

Anyway, great job! Whatcha going for? Bane? Spider? Widow? Or just try out all four of them?

    Heavy Metal

I have Rocker Girl. she's a /stone brute... get it?

Probably my other "most metal/rocker" character is None More Black. This character answers the question "what if Nigel Tufnel of Spinal Tap had super powers?"

Mouse Police, Serpentine Fire, Terra Nova Cain, Deadheart, Jennie Bomb and Nina Ballerina are all named after songs... just not heavy metal songs. (Well... Jennie Bomb is named after a cd by Sahara Hotnights, which itself is kind of a takeoff of the song Cherry Bomb by The Runaways I think (featuring Joan Jett and Lita Ford!) So that probably counts.)

My Burning Bride is sort of named after My Dying Bride. Real MacKenzie is kind of named after/inspired by the band The Real McKenzies. Thin Lizzy is of course taken from the name of the band. Hydrogyn is taken from a very good female-fronted hard rock band. but I don't like that character's current look. (Hydrogyn's original video for the song, which is probably NSFW.)

I also think Tanker of Rum should get a mention. Sure he's a pirate, but have you never heard of Pirate Metal? (Johnny Depp has a lot to answer for.) ^_^

(Oh yeah... my only published MA arc "None More Black" is about a heavy metal band, not directly related to the above Tufnel character though.) ^_^

Skyway is empty 99% of the time

    [/ QUOTE ]

I can see what you're talking about. That's quite an increase from the 96% of the time it was empty before AE came along.

(Was on a successful sewer team today -- they're not forming every 3 seconds like in the past, but we still made it all the way to King's Row and everyone got to level 8.)
  19. Within the last 5 sales, one sold for 20 influence.

Anyone can afford to buy for 20 influence. And if you can then actually flip for 200 million? Gold mine!

Yeah ok, influence transfer. The point is, if one of the recent prices was for 20 influence, you can put in a bid for say 2,000 influence and wait patiently and you will be rewarded. It may take days, but that's how the market works.

I'm actually kind of surprised more people don't scale down their GUIs. I couldn't stand how big the default one looks, so I have mine set to 75, and I've even considered cranking it as low as 70.

    [/ QUOTE ]

I only just realized you could do that, thanks to this thread. I just figured everyone else was running at ginormous resolutions or something....

And since everyone agrees that MMs have special window needs, here's my MM setup:

  21. I've been playing my level 50s a lot lately, but especially Mouse Police on Virtue. (Well... so far all of my 50s are on Virtue, but I do have a level 48 and a level 43 Mouse Police on Victory and Freedom). This is different for me, I'm more of a rabid alt player and have usually shelved my 50s for long periods after getting them to 50.

Anyway, been running a lot of the high end stuff, having a lot of fun, and thought I'd throw out some pictures -- not necessarily the greatest pictures ever, but the best from each TF or raid I've been on recently:

    Rikti Ship Raid, Jennie Justice
    Rikti Ship Raid, Mouse Police
    Hami Raid, Mouse Police
Lady Grey Task Force, Mouse Police
    Imperius Task Force, Mouse Police

Somehow I made it through two Khan TFs and a Manticore without taking a single screenshot. I forget to do that a lot.
  22. Organica

    Post your GUI

GUI for Mouse Police on Virtue. Others are more or less similar. I only just learned how to add the defense and stats monitoring window though.

  23. I like the ITF. I was on a six-man ITF team last night, and for once we ran it from front to back... just kill everything in front of us. I suspect this was less a conscious choice of style of game play and more the results of a tanker who had a hard time thinking any other way. This is because, when we reached Rommie the first time, we charged right in and took on two AVs at once (which only led to a few deaths and not a full team wipe). Then when we got to the final mission we just charged up lag hill as if there were no other way to do it, and when we got to the platform we didn't bother to clear anything, we just charged the main platform, rounded everyone up, and before it was even 100% clear went straight for Rommie.

After the first team wipe, we actually discussed strategy. (Let someone pull the healing nictus away). After the second team wipe, we actually decided to clear out the sides so we wouldn't have so many friends coming to help him. ^_^ Someone said "I don't think we have enough DPS to do this," and I had to roll my eyes, since we hadn't actually attempted much of a real game plan at that point. Anyway, we did manage to finish it off after all.

But despite that I actually enjoyed doing the mission in a straight-ahead bash & smash style for once.
  24. Mouse Police (the Virtue version anyway) is katana/regen. Although at this point I'm almost tempted to say katana/regen/SR.

I did the manticore TF the other day though. All my lovely defense goes away as soon as I exempt down.

As of this morning: over 250 million.
  25. Update: Mouse Police is at 180 million tonight with a full set of IOs for sale, including some worth quite a bit of money. Should be well over 200 million by tomorrow morning.

That's after spending roughly 200 million within the last week reworking my build yet again. No purples (obviously) but two full Mako sets, 5 pieces of Scirocco's, 2 5-piece sets of Miracle (level 40) and a full set of Numia's (though I got the unique in a roll, didn't have to buy it). Also multiple pieces of Aegis (5 slotted in one power, 3 slotted in 2 others) and 2 full sets of the Zephyr universal travel.

All that IO hardware netted me something like 41% AOE defense, 36% Ranged defense, and about 22% melee defense (which bumps up considerably in combat with Divine Avalanche). At some point in the future when I have another respec I'll probably slot another set of Mako's to increase my ranged defense.

I still plan to pick up the Miracle +recovery at some point, but after spending so much I'm now just making money to see if I can get to a billion. At this rate I should make it easily before the end of the month. ^_^.
