Yeah, I did have trouble with finishing off bosses with the defender build, though I did, it just took a bit longer than I had liked. I changed a few things and made the build the corrupter version of ice/storm and now farm +4/8's ambush farm (6 ambushes) in 15 mins pretty well.
For those who are interested, my toon's name is Funny Weather, and I'm usually farming lowbies for free around 6-7pm Pacific Standard Time. There are both attack sequencing and the recovery sequence that make the build work well at that level of difficulty.
The defender was fun but the corrupter has more damage output.
Sooooo.... If any are interested in looking at the build in action and my style of farming with it, come join me on a farm or three. It may not be the 'ultimate' farmer build (which I believe still hasn't been truly discovered yet) but it is a very enjoyable one to play.
Remember, variety is the spice of life! I have many of the cliche' farmers, like the fire/kin, elec/shield, super-strength/fire and spine/fire; but this is by far my favorite as a farmer.
I have other toons for other roles, like my pvp toon, my AV/GM killer, my task force team build, and other just for fun builds. Keep in mind I've been playing the game pretty regular for 5 years now so I've had time to mess around with a lot of toon concept builds (alt'itis).
So, if you're curious, come check it out. I take all comers, and the farm is free. I don't believe in charging, specially when making influence is so easy at wents. -
Guess you are right, I scrapped the build since it's no good. Only farms +3/8 anyways and only as fast as an elec/shield scrappy.

So, a quick technical question if anyone knows the answer. How much you heal on others is depended upon the healers heal power (slotted up) and the healer's health. The more health you have, the more you heal upon your allies. Thus for a controller healer, I like earth epic for the extra health boost from earth's embrace.
What I haven't found written down yet was the regen buffing powers a healer has. If you boost an ally's regen by 800% does it go off of the allies health or off the healer's? If the healer heals himself at 800% and it equals a regen of say 30 health per second. Does that mean the ally heals an extra 30 health per second or does it strictly boost the ally's regen rate against the ally's health?

Thanks for your input! You are correct! I would not utilize this build for general teaming as my main-line team toon. I do have an alt build for general play that I switch to when I'm doing regular missions/tf's. I will post it a bit later when finished. (Am well-to-do on influence and have the alt build spec'd out as well). I just had a lot of requests for my farmer version by folks around the AE center and got tired of explaining my slotting for it.
I have to confess as well, the build is set for my personal preferences, eliminating the powers that generally annoy the team tankers and AoE damagers, which is the knock backs. Since the 'farm' build does so well and I get lots of requests for this unique farmer, I posted it so now can just say look it up on the forums and import to mids.
For my alt build, I have spec'd for ranged defense as you have noted (soft capped), and hurricane I find does well all by itself protecting against melee. I have some sets on it but still have a few billion to finish it off. I'm actually looking to the corr version of the build to replace the one I've posted, as I believe scourge will do wonderful things for the DoT.
This was to be my Battle Maiden farmer in PI. I have both a f/k and elec/shield scrapper but am questing for an alternative farmer, as I hate having 'generic' toons that everyone else has and use for their 'traditional' roles.
I have many toons, spec'd for various roles, and am collecting what I think will be iconic builds for each role; ie 'The premier farmer, pvp toon, team support, task force master' etc... Each toon I have has a unique twist off of it's traditional role, as with this farmer built defender.
I have played the game for over 5 years now so have to do more than just "mish" , "farm" or "PvP" (I have done everything.... a zillion times). I have mastered Wentworths, making 300+ million inf a day just in day trading not including what I make from the AE tickets, run a successful top 100 SG, do weekly task force mishes with my peeps, venture into pvp zone with my pvp tanker et al.
Sooooo, the build posted is a 'hobby toon build', make for a specific purpose, and it does it very well. It was not meant to be a all-round do everything build. However, for those on a budget, who cannot afford to spec out an alt build for teaming, your observations are correct. I just hadn't had the chance to explain all this to general public as I posted the build in the middle of a task force after many requests. -

I went with 14 chance for damage IO's on my ice/rad build. Farms +3/8 smash/lethal type damage opponents! Search under my posting Opal_Moon. The build still needs a couple small tweaks to fine tune it, but over all am happy with my unconventional farmer. Not to mention is can team just fine as well, lots of procs in the build and in the IOs to help it out. Although I originally built it as an experiment to test the chance for damage IOs on a 'damage pristine toon', it has turned out to be a very enjoyable build to play. Check out my posting! Let me know what you think. I'd love for any idea that could get me over the top to +4/8 ;-)

I don't think AE should be removed. But it does need a bit of work. To say remove it because it's a farming tool would be to ignore what's been happening in the game for years before AE ever came about. Example, folks have been farming the battle maiden map for a very very long time, pretty much long as I've been in the game. Ban Battle Maiden? Won't happen either. I think people who only farm are missing out on a great game. Just hit my 57 month badge a month ago, and have been pretty much everywhere and don't everything in the game and still enjoy exploring the game. But AE does add a nice option for us 'old dogs'. It's nice to be able to create your dream epic mish arcs that you always wanted to try with your heroes and villians. As for farming, I've noticed the folks that start as farm babbies and stay farm babbies, don't really stay with the game very long anyways. They tend to get bored and just leave. So let 'them' be the passing thing and AE be a permanent and refreshing addition to the game.

Hi all, I would like to throw in a new twist to the Ice/Rad Controller. Most folks would pish-post if I told them that my ice/rad can melt down +4/+8 difficulty mobs. Well.... It can thanks to 14, yes 14 chance for damages, two great confuses, and two chance for holds. Here's the build's powers and what I have on them:
1. Chilblain: 6 slot Enfeebled Operation IO Set
2. Frostbite: 6 slot Enfeebled Operation IO Set
3. Arctic Air: Chance for damages (Malaise Illusion, Cacophony, Impeded Swiftness)
Coercive persuasion chance for confuse and coercive persuasion end/conf, malaise illusion end/conf
4. Ice Slick: 2 rech
5. Radiant Aura: Miracle end/heal, heal/end/rech, end redux
6. Rad Infection: Achilles heal chance for res debuff, Touch of Lady Grey chance for damage, Dark watchers despair to-hit/end, DWD to-hit/end/rech, DWD Chance for rech slow
7. Enervating Field: 2xend redux

Nets you 41% defense to smash/lethal and 64% resistance to smash/lethal. Although it does limit you a bit to that damage type. You can still mish just fine, since you also have around a 32% to-hit debuff from rad infection. All in all, the build has 3 aura confuses from arctic air, world of confusion and the contagious confuse; it has two holds from choking cloud and Lockdown; it has some damage mitigation from the 3 recharge slows from arctic air, basilisk gaze and dark watcher. What you have is a very survivable build, with some wonderful fireworks roughly every 8 seconds from 14 chance for damages. And it also has two resistance debuffs, one from Enervating field and the other from Achilles heal.
